Introducing the DualSense Edge wireless controller, the ultra-customizable controller for PlayStation 5

First look at the DualSense Edge wireless controller with customizable controls, changeable stick caps, back buttons, and more.

Today, we are thrilled to unveil the DualSense Edge wireless controller for PlayStation 5, the first-ever high-performance, ultra-customizable controller developed by Sony Interactive Entertainment. Designed to give you an edge in gameplay by allowing you to create custom controls, the DualSense Edge wireless controller invites you to craft your own unique gaming experience tailored to your playstyle.

Introducing the DualSense Edge wireless controller, the ultra-customizable controller for PlayStation 5

The DualSense Edge wireless controller features a number of hardware and software-based customization options for creating a completely personalized controller experience, including:

●       Ultra-customizable controls: You can make the DualSense Edge wireless controller uniquely yours by remapping or deactivating specific button inputs and fine-tuning your aim by adjusting stick sensitivity and dead zones (the distance your analog stick moves before it’s recognized in a game). In addition, each trigger is adjustable with options to tailor travel distance and dead zones to your preference. For example, you can manually reduce travel distance of the triggers for faster inputs in competitive FPS games or reduce the dead zone for precise throttle control in racing games.

●       Ability to save multiple control profiles: Once you’ve found your ideal control settings, you can save them to unique profiles and swap between them on the fly. With the DualSense Edge wireless controller, you’ll always have your preferred controls for your games ready to go, whether you’re facing Norse gods and monsters in God of War Ragnarök, or rival players in an online battle royale.

●       On-controller user interface: The dedicated Fn button allows you to easily adjust your setup while staying focused on the in-game action – quickly swap between your pre-set control profiles, adjust game volume and chat balance, and access the controller profile settings menu to set up and test new control iterations while in game.

●       Changeable stick caps and back buttons: Three types of swappable stick caps (standard, high dome, and low dome) help you stay comfortable in game while maintaining grip and stability. The two swappable sets of back buttons (half-dome and lever) can be configured to be any other button input, putting more essential controls at your fingertips.

●       Replaceable stick modules: Play longer with the ability to fully replace each individual stick module on the controller (replacement stick modules will be sold separately).

●       Built-in DualSense wireless controller features: The DualSense Edge wireless controller retains the signature comfort and immersive experience of the DualSense wireless controller when playing supported games, including haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, built-in microphone, motion controls, and more.

In addition to the included stick caps and back button sets, the DualSense Edge wireless controller comes with a USB Type-C braided cable, which uses a connector housing to lock into the controller so it’s much less likely to slip out at a crucial moment. The included carrying case, which keeps your DualSense Edge wireless controller and components together and organized in one place, allows you to charge the controller via USB connection while it’s stored in the case.

Daisuke Kurihara, Art Director, led the controller’s design process and shares a few insights on how it was created:

“The opportunity to create the DualSense Edge wireless controller was a dream come true for our team. We wanted to build on the legacy of iconic PlayStation controllers by creating a controller that empowers players to experiment and personalize elements based on their own unique playstyle – whether they are a competitive gamer or someone who just enjoys having more options to customize their play. The DualSense Edge wireless controller also features a number of thoughtful design touches that we hope players will enjoy, including a distinct DualSense controller-inspired black-and-white color scheme and a unique PlayStation Shapes pattern on the touch pad and trigger surfaces.

“We are thankful to the many gamers, professional esports players, and developers who helped provide feedback on the controller’s design.”

Daisuke Kurihara, Art Director

In the months ahead, we look forward to sharing more details about the DualSense Edge wireless controller, including launch timing, and can’t wait to see how the PS5 community unlocks the full potential of the controller’s customization options.

  • Looks amazing ❤️❤️💎

  • I hope the size is smaller

  • THERE MUST BE AN OPTION ALSO TO COUNTER LAGGY RESPONSECURVE BY MAKING IT AGRESSIVE like ASTRO C40, NACON and ELITE, not only adding it AND ALSO REDUCING R DEADZONE by making responsecurve agressive straight from 0% since every game literally has insane amounts of it and overly laggy curve.

There was mention only to adding deadzone and making responsecurve even slower, not vice versa.

  • You had me at: Replaceable stick modules

  • I really can’t wait i think this would be an awsome addition just wondering about price tag

  • What’s the point of adding more buttons if we cannot program on them even most simple commands like “×”+”o” for example…not to mention more complex macros. For me these back buttons are close to useless (meh…) . They may be cool on pc tho.

  • So this or SCUF uhhhh I think I’ll go SCUF

  • Just show me where to pay and It cant come soon enough! Im tired of spending my coin at Scuf ,where they can’t get my address right to send what i payed for anyway. HURRY P.S. PLEASE…

  • I want it

  • Im loving the controller! My only question is if It’ll come in black?

  • THEY got to have response curves for the thumbstics to be able to make it adressive to counter sluggis laggy curves majority games have. Like astro and elite do. Not just make it more sluggisg but opposite.

  • Thank you, Thank you,Thank you. All of the best features of the Elite Series 2 controller, on the DualSense, that is going to be amazing. With that being said, by far the most important feature will be having the ability to swap out the analog units if/when they start drifting. Because sooner or later it happens to nearly every controller, and with a pricetag, I’m guessing will be at least$200, its crucial to have an easily fixable solution, so you’re not left with a $200 paperweight. Thank you,I can’t wait to original this bad boy.

  • Do you represent the site **** ?

  • I can’t wait for the release date to be revealed I definitely want one Asap love every thing about it love the design.

  • Looks amazing..can’t wait to pick one up

  • Love it! low volume nicely and clearly! Esta bien curada SONY STUDIOS GRACIAS ! SI CAMBIA CON EL TIEMPO PASA PERO AUN ASI GRACIAS FAMILY VASQUEZ. ….. TO: SONY ESTUDIOS-PLAYSTATION..ALL MASTER EXPERIENCE FOR LIFE !! good FROM:Castelo, M. Ezequiel

  • I have done a bit of research and Scuf is a lead competitor in this area but with some of the bad history checks and past controllers being hit or miss I’d think Sony is trying to drawl a line to make a good product for players that want something from The Sony name that is functional and isn’t past on as a dud or money grab I think whatever price point they release that is at least under $200 and I say this because a personally customized controller these days is extremely expensive I personally think this is somewhat of a step up on Xbox with there elite controller and I’m pretty excited to see what they whip up and give us.

  • Will I be able to remap the R3 melee button and deactivate it under that directional area so I no longer melee when firing or trying to move fast and escape out of fire fight situations needing quick escapes in Warzone/ressurgence or games like it. It is a major issue for people like me with big strong heavy hands. No keyboard does not work for me. Ive been playing on controllers for my whole life. I should be able to keep the R3 as just direction turning and no other command. The tactical and other swaps either should don’t work either you end up sliding or jumping and it distorts the aim and interferes with aim and movement. If not just a suggestion for tech support maybe company should open up a department that designs custom controllers for that person personal use. Charge them and make extra money. But the controllers are really only geared for people with gentle small johnson and johnson hands. Not fair. My KD suffers because of this badly. Im am not the only one. I have researched this. Please make this compatible for PC players. Thank you for your time.

  • What about the people who just purchased new PS5 and the controller. You should atleast give one controller to the console owners who haven’t completed 1 year yet.

  • I hope there’s a matte faceplate cuz I already know how nasty the glossy ones gonna look after a while

  • Cool!Release on my Birthday…🤭and the Price?

  • I for one look forward to this controller. Having had stick drift issues on multiple different controllers from PS4 to xbox elite controllers, being able to easily swap them out instead of having to buy a new controller will be wonderful. That is if the replacements are reasonable. As long as the stick modules are cheaper than a base controller then it should be worth it.

  • disponibles quand an magasing et a quel prix

  • Is it really worth waiting for? Or should i just but the scuf controller?…

  • Wow!! Had no idea this was something being worked on but now that I kno.. I NEED 1 LIKE YESTERDAY lol. Gotta swoop up on one immediately the day it drops. Especially since both controllers have the gnarliest stick drift I have ever seen in all my years gaming I’ve never witnessed stckdrft this bad. & it wouldn’t b that bad 4 1 to act up even this badly bcuz things could become faulty BUT I HAVE 2 CONTROLLERS THAT ARE ALMOST UNUSEABLE.. B4 turning them on I gotta turn sticks in circles for few mins b4 I turn them on and that jus helps for a couple mins

  • Oh & BTW anyone think ther is any chance we will be seeing a dang web browser sometime in the future like maybe in an update hopefully they will give us one.. it’s got the web just can’t search or type addresses… [I found a backdoor and was going to sites.. but it’s whack to have to go thru all kinds of stuff and it doesn’t play vids all that good.. but a webbrowser would be sick

  • Nicely done!

  • Can you please give us some information regarding release date. This month, next month, this year, next year?

  • I still literally can’t use a DuelSense controller due to it’s shape and weight, and you want me to buy a new DuelSense with extra doodads on it that is prolly even more painful to use? Here’s a thought, enable DualShock4 support for PS5 games, or actually let 3rd parties make and sell PS5 compatible controllers so I can actually buy a modern controller that “fits my playstyle”. The fact that I am looking down the barrel of never being able to play a PlayStation game again because you refuse to accommodate folks with disabilities through hardware based solutions is an incredibly rough feeling to live with, and makes me regret ever buying a PS5.

  • So excited for this, the normal DualSense controller is already great, excited for all of the new features!

  • I just wanna know when it drops!! The triggers took a bit to get used to, but I thoroughly enjoy the DualSense. I only ever noticed the battery issue with CyberPunk, but other then that it’s been fine. Idk, I think it’s just a bit easier to use overall. I look forward to the addition of the paddles. Jumping and aiming without losing my marbles!! SIGN ME UP!! For reference I’ve used stock controllers from every system, a few mad katz, and various other brands.

  • Please enable remapping the motion (gyro) control, such as to the right stick. That’s possible on the steam deck and makes aiming in games like Horizon Zero Dawn much easier for me. Definitely a player preference, it’s nice to have the choice. It’s especially amazing to be able to add motion controls to games that don’t natively support it, like HZD.

  • I think that they should tough about adding 4 back buttons instead of 2, they need to fix this design, i repeat add 4 back buttons instead of just 2.

  • When and where can I preorder in Europe/Norway?
