UPDATE: All-new PlayStation Plus launches in June with 700+ games and more value than ever

PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now come together; players can choose from three flexible options.

Update: We’re making fantastic progress with our launch efforts and I wanted to update you on the latest. We’re rolling out our new offering for PlayStation Plus a little earlier in select markets in Asia, followed by Japan. Here is a look at our updated regional rollout schedule.

  • Asia markets (excluding Japan) – targeting May 23, 2022 (May 24, 2022 in local time zone)
  • Japan – targeting June 1, 2022 (June 2, 2022 in local time zone)
  • Americas – targeting June 13, 2022
  • Europe, Australia, New Zealand – targeting June 22, 2022 (June 23, 2022 in local time zone)

Additionally, we’re also expanding our cloud streaming access to the following locations for a total of 30 markets with cloud streaming access**. The following markets will also offer the Premium tier from PlayStation Plus at launch: Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Greece, Hungary, Malta, Poland, Republic of Cyprus, Romania, Slovakia, and Slovenia.

We’ve been working on this massive global effort to provide flexible options, quality games and greater value for our members for quite some time now – and we’re just a few weeks away from our first regional rollout. We want to thank our PlayStation community for the ongoing support, and we’ll have more to share as we get closer to launch. Since launching PlayStation Plus in 2010, SIE has been at the forefront of innovation with game subscription services. We were thrilled to be the first console membership service that included a refreshed library of games through PlayStation Plus, and also launched the first console game streaming service with PlayStation Now.

Today, we are pleased to share with you official news about changes coming to our subscription services. This June, we’re bringing together PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now in an all-new PlayStation Plus subscription service that provides more choice to customers across three membership tiers globally.

Our focus is on providing high-quality, curated content with a diverse portfolio of games*. Below is an overview of the three membership tiers:

Benefits from Essential and Extra tiers are also included. Local pricing will vary by market.

The new Extra and Premium tiers represent a major evolution for PlayStation Plus. With these tiers, our key focus is to ensure that the hundreds of games we offer will include the best quality content that sets us apart. At launch, we plan to include titles such as Death Stranding, God of War, Marvel’s Spider-Man, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Mortal Kombat 11, and Returnal. We’re working closely with our imaginative developers from PlayStation Studios and third-party partners to include some of the best gaming experiences available with a library that will be regularly refreshed. More details to come on the games we’ll have on our new PlayStation Plus service.

When the new PlayStation Plus service launches, PlayStation Now will transition into the new PlayStation Plus offering and will no longer be available as a standalone service. PlayStation Now customers will migrate over to PlayStation Plus Premium with no increase to their current subscription fees at launch.

As this is a massive launch effort, we’re rolling out the new PlayStation Plus offering in a phased regional approach. In the June timeframe, we’ll begin with an initial launch in several markets in Asia, followed by North America, Europe and the rest of the world where PlayStation Plus is offered. We aim to have most PlayStation Network territories live with our new PlayStation Plus game subscription service by the end of the first half of 2022. We also plan to expand our cloud streaming benefit to additional markets, and will provide more details at a later date.

Building upon more than 25 years of expertise in gaming innovation, this change to our subscription services highlights our continued efforts to evolve our network services business to match our customer’s preferences. With the all-new PlayStation Plus, we’re focused on delivering a compelling game subscription service with curated content from our exclusive PlayStation Studios team and our third-party partners. The newly enhanced PlayStation Plus will enable our fans to discover and engage with more content than ever before, and deepen their connection with the PlayStation community through shared experiences.

We’re providing an early look at our new PlayStation Plus subscription service today, and we’ll plan to share more information with you as we get closer to launch. Stay tuned.

*Local pricing may vary by market. PlayStation Plus catalog titles may also vary by market and tier, and may change over time. • As PS Now isn’t available in Australia I’m guessing my current PS Plus subscription will only switch to the entry level PS Plus Essential once it’s rolled out??? I can’t seem to find any info, if current PS Plus would upgrade to PS Plus Premium then I will also load up now but I’m doubtful….

  • I will consider buying it if it’s just like the xbox game pass, you can get it for PC without a problem. until that happens xbox gamepass has the upper hand since they have a PC edition.

  • Thank you for your hard work and incredible ingenuity putting this together for us. We look forward to participating in this event. Whoever thought…… Christmas in June!!!!
    Respectfully,

    Gaming since “Pong”….on a 10” CRT.
    A long time ago…..

  • God this is going to be a mess.

This is way to expensive, especially for the 3rd tier. I admit I love the idea of playing games back from ps1, but if it’s going to be used as cloud streaming, then the whole thing is going to crash and it’ll be unplayable.

And Xbox still has their game pass for half the price. It’s so sad to me that if I wanna play a few games back from my PS2 era, I gotta shell out a good $120 to do it, and it might not even be playable because of shotty connection.

This is a complete step backwards for PlayStation. If they made it maybe $20 less, then it would probably work. But right now, this is just a cash grab for them. If they don’t fix this soon or try to re-adjust the pricing or at least make a better connection to play these old games through cloud streaming, then I’m done with PlayStation. 20 years of playing PlayStation games, and greedy ideas and tactics are what’s gonna make me leave. A sad day indeed.

  • I already have both PS Plus and PS Now. It seems that I’ll be paying more ..or same…for almost the same thing??
There already are 700+ games on PS NOW. What do I need new service for?
Those PS3 and PS2 games and free trials better be good.

  • Just the absolute basic for me £20 tier.

  • What about those that have both PS+ and PS Now subscriptions?

    • Do we get the difference in PS+ subscription added as an extra onto the new premium sub or do we just lose that which we have paid for?

    • Going by the email I was sent you move over for no extra payment until the end of your stacked subscription

  • So Amazon wants me, to cough up $140 a year just to watch the new, The Lord of the Rings spin-off, Sony wants to charge $120 to play all their games & stream ps3 games and Nintendo wants to charge $42 to just play a small number n64 games. In conclusion, ima cancel Amazon and PlayStation Plus and keep my Nintendo $20 tier a year subscription. I guess yall could say I’m dead broke this year, with everything being super expensive right now ’cause of inflation.

  • So PS Now Subscribers automatically get migrated into PS Premium. I Have an Annual PS Plus account; is there an upgrade for this?

  • heyeyeyeyeyeyeyeyeyeyeyeyeyeyeyeyeyeyeyeyeyeyeyeeyeyeyeyeyey

  • We need some of our old games like James bond, nba streets, nba Jam, blitz nfl football, scarface ,etc

  • I respectfully want a list of all the games per tier.
It’s hard to get excited about getting to hear how expensive something is and not knowing what you get for that money. I also want to know if streaming is improved compared to 2021 as it wasn’t good and I have very fast internet.

  • Will this allow me to transfer my save games from stream to drive copy, or will they continue to keep that process separate, and needlessly expensive?

  • Why is it still a money grab when most PS members are loyal to PlayStation ONLY?

Longtime PS+ members and any who join at least a month ahead of the merger SHOULD be GRANDFATHERED into the TOP TIER as long as their subscription remains active…matter of factly…

  • The crucial thing is however, there are all these extra services which nobody asked for, meanwhile, there is no SUB ps plus tier for people who want TRULY the minimum. This news is a great distraction from the continuous issue of people requesting the very basic of services—that is, only having to pay for online access—and nothing more. So how about having a BASIC subscription for PS network membership for £20 p/a? I’d rather have NO monthly game rental.

  • I have a PS Now 1yr voucher code that I purchased and haven’t redeemed yet. Does anyone know if this will still be usable? Also, if so, I’m assuming it would be for the mid-level plan that is most similar to PS Now?

  • Ey man i play playstion 4 slim

  • Are sly Cooper Collection with them!? If not, then sorry it Useless to me!

  • I have 8 months left on ps plus, how come nothing has been said on how to upgrade your service to PS extra if you have outstanding subscription to plus but want Extra?

  • So I’ve been with Playstation since it released in the 90s but here is my problem with where the company is and is going. Before when things were backwards compatible the game’s you bought had a dollar value and once purchased. And it kept its value as long as you had the game. So now I’m going to have to repay for my game that I want to play with over and over every year. Sounds like a bunch of corporate cash grabbing to me. Ps5 has been out for 2 years and I still can’t get one with out paying a up charge from someone else instead of retail price and then if you want it to have any memory you gotta by after market parts. Thanks but no thanks. My last straw for consoles has been broken. P.C. it is.

  • Sounds great for us current pa plus members will we be upgraded to premium or do we have to pay a upgrade or what

    • From what I gather PS Plus will transition into PS Essential.

What I want to know is the cost to upgrade to the other tiers

  • You know I’d really like just a very basic service.. Online MP option with save file upload.

I don’t necessarily play or even save and almost never download the free games.

  • justicekiller007

um this whole buying a bunch of PS now to get PS plus premium at a 1:1 ratio is crap. These people played $60 for PS now should get half the year subscription of PS plus premium. 2:1 ratio, its only fair to those who had both or a couple years of PS plus already.

  • Salve se rinnovo il plus in scadenza a maggio per un anno potrò poi passare al servizio extra ?

  • So for who has got not an Playstation dont want take an phisical Playstation and was playing at Playstation with an nice price from “Playstation now” by pc , is better if change platform , great Playstation! After more 20 years i am going to choose an better pc cloud platform ( geforce now example).

  • Sounds fine to me but I need a question answering –

If I currently have PS Plus for the next 12 months, and I pay monthly for PS now at £8.99- when June comes.. what will the cost be to transition into PS Premium.. It should be no more than £50 for the year.. as that is the difference between Ps Essential for 12 months and PS Premium for 12 months

I cannot find an answer online, so can someone answer this for me?

  • Money. That’s all I got out of that. Sorry.

  • Are the higher tears available for ps4 customers as i cannot afford a ps5.

  • I feel good about this new service and I hope Sony launch online server of famous old games (Specially PS3 titles like The Last of Us, Killzone 2, Killzone 3, Resistance 1 & 2 & 3, Uncharted 2 & 3, Gran Turismo 5, Street Fighter IV, Little Big Planet 1 & 2 & 3 and …)
So many nice old games need to be active online and multiplayer and so many loyal Sony fans like to play them online and enjoy and also achieve their remaining trophies.

  • I think if they are going to make the yearly price so high for the plus premium package, they also need to consider putting in VR games also.

  • so how would we go about upgrading ? i have like 5 yr on my psn account, if i have to pay full price to upgrad then itll never happen

  • so how would we go about upgrading ? i have like 5 yr on my psn account, if i have to pay full price to upgrad then itll never happen

  • I hope lord of the rings return of the king come and need for speed underground 2 ?

  • “Since launching PlayStation Plus in 2010, SIE has been at the forefront of innovation”… so we are sandwiching two old services together and adding very little additional value??

I am looking forward to playing some of those old games again (once or twice), am shocked they haven’t added an addition streaming service like Crunchy Roll/Sony Movies/Apple TV to add a point of difference.

regardless, I love this brand and product so go ahead and take my money :)

  • So PlayStation Plus Essential is the same thing as the normal playstation plus.

  • I already have 12 months ps plus, what will happen to it?

  • Playstation Plus should include regular gamer ID changes. It’s messed up you have to pay money to change your gamer tag.

  • Cloud gaming needs to be on MacOS, iOS or in Browser!

  • BIG FAT QUESTION PLEASE IF YOU CAN TELL ME NOW OR IS THIS TO BE ANNOUNCED I MUST ASK THIS QUESTION!!! ARE YOU FINALLY ALLOWING US PLAYSTATION FANS TO ACCESS THE OLD SCHOOL PLAYSTATION GAMES FROM PS2 EVERY SINGLE GAME YALL EVER MADE!? PLEASE PUT THIS IN YALL NOTES IF YALL STILL HAVE NOT THOUGHT OF THIS!!! I WANT TO PLAY DEF JAM FIGHT FOR NEW YORK AGAIN AND ITS ON PLAYSTATION 2 YALL WOULD SERIOUSLY MAKE BILLIONS OF DOLLARS JUST LIKE XBOX Whoopers BEEN DOING….. WHOEVER IS THE PRESIDENT PLEASE READ THIS I OR THE WORLD IS FREAKING BEGGING YOU TO ADD ALL ACCESS TO ALL PLAYSTATION IF WE PAYING MORE THEN 65 on PLAYSTATION PLUS

  • Trophy support for PS1 & PS2 games would be a dream come true for me

  • My PS Plus subscription will end on December. What will happen if the revamped PS Plus arrive on June? I guess that’s my only concern.

  • Okay, since I havnt seen anyone ask I’ll ask it and I really hope I get a response! What if I have a years subscription to ps plus AND ps now? Will I be bumped up to ps plus premium for having had both memberships?

  • So I have ps plus and ps now. I have paid for them $120.

Now ps now will be ps plus premium. A person who doesn’t have plus but ps now will get premium and paid $60.

I think officially playstation made me stupid. Thank you. Another thing for other console users to make fun of us.

  • Сони позорные бляди и фашисты. В рот ебал ваше решение в отношении игроков из России.

  • If i understand it right, then Premium wont be for Europe (maby in few countries), whats mean 80% of market is outside Sony Playstation customer bubble.

What a PUNCH right to the customers face from PlayStation. I am really, really p****d off, because of this.

Why is Sony still doing this?! What is 80% of the waste market? Or are we players are some kind of trash??

  • I just wish @Sony would stop overlooking other markets like South Africa, the way they did with PS Now.😒

  • Total garbage. Pay a premium for emulators and game trials. Game Pass crushes this. Pathetic.

  • I’m actually looking forward to this. Very excited boi here!

  • Okay what’s gonna happen I know it gonna be more games and all and PlayStation plus and PlayStation now is gonna merge together making more but what will happen if we bought 12 month pass already will we have to rebuy or nah because I bought it this month April 22 hope you guys know what I’m saying.

  • They should keep PS Now as a standalone service as it is now. I’ve never wanted PS Plus nor do I now but now I have to pay almost double for the same service that imho was perfect for those of us that that mainly play single player games that couldn’t care less about online co op games or getting 2, 3 free games that are 95% of the time games I have no interest in playing. The only way imo that sony could can make this somewhat ok is if they don’t increase the price for those of us that only subscribe to PS Now already. They said they won’t be but didn’t give a time limit as to how long that will last so only time will tell… Fingers crossed its indefinitely tho..
