Start off the year with free avatars available for PS5 and PS4 players.
In 2021 there were a lot of fantastic experiences that many PlayStation fans enjoyed, such as Returnal, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, and Deathloop. As the new year is in full swing, we’re pleased to bring back the PlayStation 2021 Wrap-Up report, celebrating your gaming achievements on PS4 and PS5.
Starting today through February 20, PS4 and PS5 users* can access and share their PlayStation 2021 Wrap-Up report, with stats such as the number of games played, earned Trophies, playtime on PS4 and PS5 titles, and more.
Here are a few of the stats from my 2021 wrap-up report:

You can also view stats achieved collectively by PlayStation players from around the world in 2021, including the most popular weapon in Returnal, total number of wrecks in Destruction AllStars, and the percentage of players who have met Kit in Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart.
A code to download four free avatars will be available to both PS5 and PS4 users who access their PlayStation 2021 Wrap-Up report. For more details, you can visit the PlayStation 2021 Wrap-Up page.
*Users need to have a registered PSN account in their region, be age 18 years or over, have played games on a PS4 or PS5 console for at least 10 hours between January 1, 2021 and December 31, 2021. Users who have not consented to the collection of “Full Data” from their PlayStation 5 system settings, may be unable to participate in the Wrap-Up campaign.
Users located in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Australasia, India, and Russia, who have not consented to the collection of “Additional Data” from their PlayStation 4 system settings, may be unable to participate in the Wrap-Up campaign.
Right now you’re focusing on PS VR2. Which don’t get me wrong, everyone is really hyped about seeing for the first time High End VR backed by PS and the opportunity in that space. Sony should pursuit creativity and innovation. However, remember that it is a niche market right now.
You sold 5 million+ PS VR and called it a success. You sold at least 3 times more Vita and said it was a failure.
What I’m getting at, you need a new portable. Specifically, a hybrid system.
I also need to apologize to PS. I gave the suggestions to Nintendo that ended up them creating the Nintendo Switch.
I told them they needed to focus on 3 markets:
-Casual Motion Sensor Market
-Kids Market (Mario etc)
-Hardcore Market (Metroid/3rd party)
I also said that the Wii U tablet range was too short and that the processor should be inside the portable device.
That led the the detachable Joycons they created (not me, they came with the hybrid idea, I was thinking wirelessly send the image to the TV or some kind of dock)
Had no idea how the final product would look. However, they were loosing and were humble and listening to new ideas.
Here’s my idea for a PS Hybrid system that’s similar but also very different from the Nintendo Switch, and that system connects the entire PS ecosystem together.
Rather than having Joycons to disconnect from the Handheld, it will be the processor itself that will disconnect from the controller.
The best way I can explain it is the PS Vita TV. Take that. Put it on top of a DualSense Controller, It would insert that way via USB-C.
What’s left are not 2 individual JoyCons Motion Controller but a permanent Touchscreen Controller in 1 bulk.
Here’s what this system will be able to do:
-Handheld Powerful Ryzen console that plays PS4 and PS5 games
-Play Games on a dock
-Premium PS5 controller (that rivals an Elite Controller)
-Remote Play PS5 Games
-To be used in PS VR2 Wireless/ PS VR3: This device would be Inputted inside the PS V2W/3 Headset that would make it wireless with the PS5 PSVR2
-Have Added Inputs (beyond buttons) on the touchscreen that all developers and players can use and customize. *
*Example I’m playing Tales of Arise, You have 3 Arts you can place on the Face Buttons, these are the skills you use to attack. With that touchscreen, anyone can create a completely new input and add more control.
-Button Remapping as well and advanced analog sensation curve (like Xbox)
……
The device itself would have a frontal USB-C connection.
In the back Would have power connector (most likely USB-C), 1 HDMI (48Gbps) out, 1 USB Type-A 3.2 or higher.
Additionally. There would be a wireless HDMI dongle that would connect behind the PS5.
This device would send signal (almost instantly 0.01 ms) of the HDMI out of the PS5 to this new handheld hybrid. That way everything that’s happening on the screen will also be displayed on this device.
It also has a pass-through of the hdmi so that the signal would also go to the TV, but not just that. It can turn off the PS5 pass-trough and send it’s own device to the TV.
This HDMI device can be sold separately, this can be used to wirelessly stream (send the signal) your PSVR2W games to the hybrid system, that will dock inside the PSVR2W Headset.
The dock can also be sold separately as it will already have an HDMI and power supply.
The dock would have an SSD slot to increase the memory and easily change which games you want to play on the device, as well as easier to connect via usb-c.
Wow. that makes a lot to unpack but there you go. A hybrid system that’s nothing like Nintendo, that doubles as a Premium controller with remote play AND PSN Online messaging and Voice chat in real time, And can be inserted in a PS VR headset to make it wireless with an hdmi dongle.
It covers every aspect the what PS currently is and is the missing piece of the puzzle.
Also forgot in my previous post list:
-PSN control, messaging, party, friends list, trophy progression
-Media streaming, Crunchy Roll, Netflix, Funimation, ect.
As far as how it can look, I have a few different type:
-Look like a DS5 with a touchscreen in the middle (touchscreen now in the back with reversed left/right input to match the correct side of the DS5 since now it’s flipped to the rear)
It would pop out in the middle.
The screen would be decent but not huge.
-The next one would look like an NVIDIA Shield Handheld. Clam-shell design. It would pop out of the back of the screen, the screen remains on the controller.
*Also keynote here, the controller works wirelessly by blue-tooth and the controller has it’s own processor to make basic PSN, added button functions happen and wireless input from dongle.
-Next one could look like a Vita and a Steam Deck. Two different screen sizes, same processor and platform. It would pop out of the back the same way a PSP battery would. Japan would prefer the smaller screen, America typically the bigger screen.
There you go.
Also this device doesn’t need to happen next year or the year after that. I want the device to be way more powerful than a Steam Deck and Ryzen APUs keep getting bigger and stronger each year.
The fact that you’re still making games for the PS4 proves you can still make the games for a handheld more powerful than a PS4 Pro, docked would have much more performance and the Steam Deck is already as powerful as a PS4. You can make it happen, you don’t need to make a lost of profits on the device too much, you are making the PS5 profitable.
Lastly, your manufacturer said you needed to make a less powerful console and you were forced to make PS4 consoles which makes little sense, but this handheld would definitely alleviate that pressure.
It all works strongly in your favor.
Big Brain Moves.
