  • Remove that Godfall cut down edition and instead give us Mortal shell enhanced edition for both PS5 and PS4 and I would be happy.

    • Enhanced Edition is already free, it’s just upgraded visuals and all. Doesn’t include the DLC for the game.

  • So this month’s PS+ PS5 game isn’t even the full base game? That’s really disappointing. PS+ use to give away 6 games a month. This month we got 2.5.

    • Absolutely embarassing for Sony to be shoveling us this garbage.

A game that most of us wouldnt pick up even if it was in a bargin bin for 5$ now released as a demo as a ps plus game? What the f*?

I dont mind the mortal shell game but what I do mind is Sony trying to shove the ps4 version instead of giving us the upgraded version whats the point???

      Seriously considering dropping playstation.

      Gamepass > Ps Plus

    • @synopsys Gamepass and Ps Plus is not the same type of service, why do people compare, I dont get it. You can compare Ps Plus with Games with Gold and Gamespass with Ps Now, cause those are the same type of service

    • Maybe don’t compare Now and Gamepass ;)

It’s abundantly evident which service is the superior.

  • Really cheap of you PlayStation to not give us the full the game of Godfall.

  • Ok, this is pretty awful.

  • It feels like a spit in the face with this God Fall “Campaign-Less” edition, where you have to pay to get it.
Miss me with it. Not buying this “Deluxe Upgrade” , No thanks :) Also, considering the fact that God Fall is already a not-so-good game, giving us a part of it, instead of a full game, leaves a VERY bad taste both about PS Plus, AND Godfall itself.
On my way to give GodFall lowest possible score in PSN!

  • I’ve not read up much about Godfall, but since no one really explains what this endgame stuff really is, this is what I found (could be slightly wrong):
    1) Lightbringer – more items and different play mechanisms
    2) Dreamstone – several rounds of two/three wave battles + final random boss fight (more difficult than in campaign)
    3) Ascendant Tower of Trials – endless wave battles and endless looting
Described as for “veteran players” (of Godfall).

Personally, this is a combination of the things I hate most in games (yeah, including boss fights), so a big thumbs down on this one.

Sony make it right, get us the story and campaign only.

    • Light bringer is basically a hoard mode where you take turns alternating between defending your point and attacking an enemy point.
It’s a little more technical but that’s the gist of it.
Dreamstones are a series of battles against enemies and bosses where before each battle you choose from a handful of randomly selected debuffs. (This mode isn’t worth playing because it’s outclassed by gear from the other two)
Ascendant tower of trials is an elevator. Each floor has three rooms, you can pick one to clear, just kill a few generic enemies with higher stats than the last floor and move on, once you clear one room the elevator goes up a floor. It’s poorly balanced and badly optimized so most players can’t even get past floor 10 solo, it gets better in a team but it’s only “technically” endless. After floor 100 you no longer get anything for continuing. Also the loot is hardly endless. You get a couple keys for clearing each floor, and there’s a chest after clearing most room that you can choose to open if you have enough keys.

  • A Demo as a PS+ monthly game? Really? Because that’s all this version of Godfall is.. a Demo at best.

  • Im very quick to slam Playstation when they blow the PS+ offerings….especially when they use us, their membership, to populate bad multiplayer games and pretend they are doing us a favor….

    This month is excellent though.

    Credit when its due.

A PS5 game (Godfall) that never quite got over with gamers….why not let everyone try it, at this point. I think its a good choice.
Mortal Shell is a fringy but well liked game that needs more attention. A good choice.
Lego DC Super Villians — Its just great. One of the best Lego games there is, but a bit ignored because its villains instead of the more popular super heroes. Another superior selection.

Plus 3 more VR games. A bonus for those who have invested in the PSVR platform. Im waiting for PSVR 2…but am claiming all these games with hopes to play them eventually.

    Well Done Playstation.

    Thank You and Merry Christmas.

    • It’s not 3 more PSVR games, they’re the same 3 from last month. Still happy with DC Villains. Finished the main story of Godfall and couldn’t be bothered with the end game content. I just couldn’t get on with Mortal Shell. It seemed aimless, very disappointed with it. :-(

    • Alec, I think you missed something here. The thing people are mad about isn’t that Godfall is one of the games. People are upset that a stripped down version of godfall, essentially a demo, is the headliner game, and they explicitly advertise buying the actual game in the announcement, which is rather brazen. If it were the full Godfall and this was a new optional mode, 90%+ of people would be satisfied with it.

    • Update: Epic Games just gave away Godfall Challenger edition for -no monthly fee-

  • GodFAIL: Demo Edition

  • Respectfully, I don’t feel Godfall is a very wise move as it’s a paid subscription service, not something that should be used to peddle cut down versions of games as a preview.

  • Godfall Challenger edition gave me a good laugh. The game is so incredibly barebones that I genuinely couldn’t even imagine a more stripped down version, yet somehow they managed to strip it down to be even more barebones.
And this ain’t Sony, folks. It’s not a sony game or a sony IP, this was decided by the developers and publisher.
Anyone that feels tempted to buy the full version. Spare yourself, it’s all just grinding for nondescript resources in nondescript rooms to access the next nondescript room.

  • Dang I was excited for Godfall until I learned the truth…gonna pass now

  • I thought this was bad when I saw godfall but it’s a freaking demo? Keeping my ps plus to not auto-renew. You guys have been trying to pull fast ones every month and it’s gross.

  • Argh, just finished Godfall and couldn’t be bothered with the end game content. Mortal Shell was very pretty but I just couldn’t get on with it, too much aimless wandering. DC villains looks good. 1/3 ain’t bad, I just wish that was the case every month :-)

  • Never thought that the day comes when I complain about Plus games but oh my god. Not even a full game for PS5?! So you’re basically saying that I pay for a demo?! Even more, auto-updates simply don’t work in sleep mode. Why do I pay?!

  • Wow, one of your games actually isn’t even a full game. This is completely insulting. I try to be understanding. I know that not every game is going to be to my taste. I know that I might very well own one of the games that’s offered on any given month.

But damn, this is literally you guys breaking a promise on content given to Plus members.

Godfall: Challenger Edition is literally not a complete game. You guys are seriously in the wrong here.

  • Change Godfall for Judgment pls.

  • You guys were all set to give us a half decent month and then you swerved at the last moment and gave us a demo.

    A demo.

Why are we paying for demos?

  • Like many others, I was actually looking forward to this month. I was actually planning to download and try out the free offerings, which hasn’t happenned for many (MANY) months.

But then of course the official announcement came out and lo and behold, excitement is gone.

The godfall thing is not even worthy of any comment, this is just a huge middle finger. And of course mortal shell is not gonna come with a free ps5 upgrade, because why would it. Why not try to make ps5 owner spend money on something ps4 owners get free when practically every major game announced for ps5 for this year was delayed and there’s jacksquat to play on that console.

When the offering is bad (which is the norm, lets be honest), I dont even care anymore. But this is them just making fun of their customers imho.

  • Really Sony? that version of Godfall is a demo. What a joke!!!! Lame!!!!

  • Very good, Sony. Every month you outdo yourself by giving the worst games. This thing you just did with Godfall is unbelievable, but nothing surprises me about you guys anymore. You really suck.

  • Cool…, now we receive DEMO versions of the games ? What about we pay you half the price of the PS Plus signature PlayStation? What do you think ?

  • So we get a Godfall demo. It’s not even the full game!
I’m serieusly going to try to get a Xbox with gamespass as this is crap.

  • It’s a shame arrogant $ony is back…

  • One more disappointing month! That Godfall bait is a really scummy move I tell you that. I miss the days that I looked forward to new ps plus games. You said that the price of the subscription was going up to make up for the quality games you would give us! That to add to the fact that we can’t get a PS5 there’s no direct selling in my country and If I want one I have to deal with scalpers or stores that bundle stuff to insane prices that I already have/ don’t want.
Also even if I had one I would not have 1440p support or VRR.
I’m just disappointed with the way things are going I’m not sure if it’s worth the wait. Maybe next time my subscription ends it’s going to stay that way.

  • It would of been really cool if there were a couple of new vr games instead of just keeping the same ones on, with it being vrs anniversary & all🤷‍♂️😉

  • Where is the promised PS5 game? Head way up your own behind at this stage. Not that you even read comments.

  • Es una mierda lo de god fall pero me parecio que este mes esta decente con el dc super villian y el mortal shell que es un gran juego para los que quieren una experiencia “parecida” a dark souls

  • Is’s hard not being a jerk in comments when Sony is a jerk with ps plus subscribers.

You don’t even got the full game nowadays… LOL. I really don’t know why do people insist in playstation anymore. Xbox + gamepass is a much much much better option.

I’ll be back when Last of us Factions or TLOU3 kicks in.

    See ya!

  • I dont think “spare no mercy” is what you meant to say. If you spare no mercy you dish out mercy unreservedly. You probably meant “show no mercy” or “with no mercy to spare”. Those would make sense.

  • Not only you are wasting one of three slots in PS+ on a very weak game, you’re not even giving people a full version of it – only a glorified demo. Damn that sucks.

  • Mortal Shell 🙏

  • These are great games! Thank you Sony!

  • The same people complaining about bad free games of the month here, will be tweeting about how game pass is ruining the game industry tomorrow 😁 JUST BUY THE GAME! Why would you play the demo?😁

  • Do we even know if Molten shell let’s us update to Ps5? I mean is sony gonna keep sabotaging us? At least they could offer a priced upgrade for those games. Like greedfall, ff7r.
Why even choose this kind of games if sony is just gonna be a jerk like this??
Got the ps4 game now I need to buy full price to enjoy on ps5?? Thats messed up. Makes psplus loose total value.

    • I heard Mortar Shell is no good.

    • I was disappointed with Mortal Shell. Pretty graphics but seemed aimless – no real hints at what you were supposed to be doing or where you were supposed to be going. Combat and dodging in combat felt clunky and I just couldn’t be bothered with it 😟

  • The godfall move is really bad. It was one of the worst reviewed launch titles & plus subscribers are getting a cut back version. Really poor.

  • Challenger edition my ass

  • people …. “people” using the word demo without knowing the meaning.

  • So this month the “full” ps5 game is actually just a demo?! What a joke! Very disappointed!

  • Sony, please specify Which version of mortal shell will be given away and whether we will need to shell out for the PS5 upgrade a la FF 7 remake. I can deal either way but this information should be specified in the post. Thank you.

  • Dear Sony, the only part of this month I wanted try play was Godfall the story part, not really interested in the rest. Pretending the Challenger Edition is some kind of special thing is garbage, don’t pretend half a game is somehow better than all of it. The only thing the Challenger Edition is going to do is insure I never buy the game and will do my best to insure no one I know buys it either.

  • For all the people complaining about not getting the campaign of Godfall……please stop! There are exactly 2 cutscenes in the entire campaign of Godfall, the first one at the beginning of the game, which is the release trailer for the game and a wrap up trailer at the end of the game which shows a wide shot of the ascended tower of trials. Everything that happens in between is a series of fetch missions that have you fighting the same enemies and bosses from the Dreamstones. There are no unique set pieces, no characters to meet, no major interactions with the world other than running through the same zones as the ones in the Dreamstones and collecting sun shards which you use to climb the tower of trials…….all of which you do through playing Dreamstones.

The game story is told to you through interacting with a stationary mission giver in the hub and is best summed up as Macros is trying to take over the tower of trials and you have to stop him. There is no plot beyond that. Everything you do in the campaign is run through a zone to fight small mobs of enemies to get to the miniboss (also in the dreamstones) and when you beat the miniboss the mission is over. The problem with Godfall at launch was that the game had you play the campaign and then asked you do the same thing in the dreamstones to get endgame equipment. Literally the only reason to play Godfall is to get to endgame and play high level dreamstones and try to go up the tower of trials……all of which is endgame content.

This version of Godfall is the one that should have released at launch. The campaign is literally a way to level up so you can play the Dreamstones and the Dreamstones are the campaign without having to talk to a NPC so you can move from one zone to the next. The best part of the game is getting to level 50 and collecting gear and creating a build.

I am not exaggerating how bad the campaign of Godfall is and it is why the game was reviewed so poorly. Godfall is a great game with great gameplay that has a very bland and boring campaign that was made worst by the fact that you needed to replay the same content in the Dreamstones. Now that you don’t have to play the campaign you can focus on what is good about the game. Play the Dreamstones, get high level gear, and then try to climb the Ascended Tower of Trials. I assure you that there is no reason to play the campaign, except to level up and now that you can start at level 50 the game is perfect.

Stop capping for a game mode that many of you will only end up complaining about if it was included. I say this as someone who has had the game since day 1 and has over 200 hours in the game.

    • But can you still fight all the bosses?

    • After reading your comment, I might give GodFall a try.

    • It’s not that the campaign sucks, it’s that imo it sets a bad precedent for future ps+ titles: it means it’s ok to give us a different title with features stripped out to sell back to us.

It starts with a GAAS looter style title where the campaign isn’t worth much like Godfall but it certainly won’t stop there if people don’t call Sony out for it.

  • Asia gets Judgment but we don’t, one step forward, two back. as usual
    nothing for me this month

  • Change Godfall for Judgment pls.

  • God Awful to extract campaign as some of us prefer it to playing online with trolls. I was looking forward to trying Godfall. Overall and otherwise,
it’s still a nice month, as the Lego DC Villians is a nice game, one of the best Lego games. Also, as a Dark Souls fan, I’m looking forward to playing Mortal Shell. Thank you Sony.

  • Man, I don’t really get it.

We all know GamePass is crushing our PS. We all know latest several months were terrible offers from PS Plus. Time after time we get third grade, washed out or failed games, that are going on major discounts in next week anyway!
We all know GodFall flopped so hard, even Randy “the magic portable drive” Pitchford won’t mention it.
We all know Mortal Shell is minor flop, with some niche fans.
We all know Lego games are nice, but if you played one of them – you played them all.

And yet Sony still not embarrassed to do stuff like that? Why can’t they, FOR A CHANGE, make at least one month – something to be excited about? To have us “Yes! THIS IS why I pick PS, thats the stuff we love!” ??
Nope. Get your trashbin content for free, and don’t you dare to compare it to other services…

    • Mortal Shell has graphic
Lego DC super villains has trophies fun
Godfall Challenge Edition has maybe something beautiful in there

I like this month i get used getting two ps4 games too bad not any game for you ps5 fan…

  • Godfall = Like
    Godfall: Challenger Edition = Dislike

    Sony are you serious?

  • Godfall = Like
    Godfall: Challenger Edition = Dislike-Dislike

    Sony are you serious?

  • This is mostly directed at Sony/Playstation, not that I expect anyone will read it but I assume this is the best place/chance for it to happen.

I’m a person who loves to play on PlayStation, but moves like this month only make it more likely for my PS Plus to lapse and for me to drift out of the PlayStation ecosystem. I don’t like saying that because of the games released in the last five years PlayStation’s have brought me the most player satisfaction, and I’m turned off by other Developers/Studios chasing Games as a Service and short sighted unfinished releases, and PlayStation’s competitor’s games tend to either be to nichy for me to get invested in, or rely to much on the game’s IP without meeting the quality bar I’d hope from them. I also believe that when PlayStation does well, I’m more likely to see the games I’ve come to enjoy from them.

That is why I have to be upfront when I say a PS Plus month like this is really bad for PlayStation especially early into the PS5’s life when it needs to be more competitive with their competition when they’re releasing high profile games on their subscription service. Unless PlayStation execs have had their head in the ground, GodFall was already a poorly received product both critically and financially, so to then turn around and offer a slimmed down version of that game was never going to go over well (I’ve seen people who say they were only interested because they heard it would be free, and are now turned off the game because it is given as the challenger edition). And since Mortal Shell being labeled as PS4, most suspect it won’t come with a free PS5 upgrade, as most PS Plus games that have received a next gen version haven’t been made available to PS Plus members. And if it does turn out to be free, then it is a huge missed opportunity on PlayStation’s marketing (You seriously need to get better here). This also doesn’t come off well, when PlayStation’s competitor is giving the Mortal Shell next gen version away on one of their subscriptions.

Overall it just comes off as PlayStation being cheap compared to it’s competitors, and while I realize GamePass and PS Plus are two completely different subscriptions that shouldn’t be compared directly with each other, PS Plus’s goal should be to at least not come off as super weak in comparison. Going into next year, I suspect if Xbox’s subscription and releases maintains it’s trajectory it might finally start to eat into PS5’s sales which PlayStation have had the luxury of getting ahead of due to their strong start.

So what can be done, while I realize PlayStation’s competitors have deeper pockets to afford throwing more expensive titles on their subscription, and PS Plus is a cost wise less expensive service (At least MSRP) there is something PlayStation can do. One thing that has kept from getting into GamePass is the fact that you never know when a third party game can be pulled off the service. However, this also probably helps keep the cost of these games lower for MS. PlayStation could look at putting one recent AAA game on PS Plus where it is available for only 1-3 months before being removed. While I enjoy being able to play PS Plus games at my own leisure, what Sony is doing right now isn’t working, and people tend to praise a high profile game coming onto the service more then they condemn it for leaving, and this would probably be cheaper then giving the game to PS Plus members forever.

That said all I can do is try to warn and hope that PlayStation are looking/considering real solutions (Hopefully better then mine). However, to end this with some tough love from a quote in a game you have sold allot of copies of “Don’t be sorry be better”.

  • Not including the full game of Godfall is kind of a new low for PS+ especially while promoting it as the headlining game.

    I won’t be claiming it.
