We’re thrilled to announce that God of War (2018) will be coming to PC on January 14, 2022! All of us at Santa Monica Studio have been humbled by the immense amount of support and passions fans of the God of War series have shown in the latest chapter of Kratos’ story since its release. As of August 2021, 19.5MM copies for God of War on PlayStation 4 have been sold through and we can’t wait to share that experience with a whole new group of players on PC. 

God of War (2018) is coming to PC

Our primary goal when bringing God of War to PC was to highlight the exceptional content the team created and leverage the powerful hardware that the platform offers to create a uniquely breathtaking and high-performance version of the game.

You’ll be able to enjoy the full potential of our cinematic, no-cut camera as it follows Kratos and Atreus across the realms with the option of true 4k resolution, on supported devices, and unlocked framerates.

Our PC version includes a wide range of graphical presets and options so you can fine-tune your visual experience based on your setup. From higher resolution shadows and improved screen space reflections to enhancements to the ambient occlusion pipeline with GTAO and SSDO – God of War on the PC can create striking visual quality unique to the platform.

We’re also happy to announce that we will have full integration with NVIDIA Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) available on RTX. You won’t have to sacrifice high graphical settings and output resolutions for high performance in God of War.

In addition to DLSS we will also have NVIDIA Reflex low latency technology available. Reflex delivers a more responsive experience allowing you to react quicker and hit harder combos.

Alongside the graphic and performance improvements, we are also offering 21:9 ultra-widescreen support.

From the heart-pumping clashes in combat to the quiet moments where you can take in the otherworldly beauty of the Norse wilds across the Nine Realms, our panoramic widescreen support will make every moment feel more like a truly theatrical experience.

Our plans for God of War on PC include robust controller support and keyboard mapping customization.

For those of you who would prefer a controller, we will support DualShock 4 and DualSense wireless controllers in addition to a wide range of other gamepads.

For our keyboard and mouse players, you will be able to fully customize the bindings to create a control setup that works best for you.

Finally, the purchase of God of War on PC will also contain the following digital content:

  • Death’s Vow Armor Sets for Kratos and Atreus
  • Exile’s Guardian Shield Skin
  • Buckler of the Forge Shield Skin
  • Shining Elven Soul Shield Skin
  • Dökkenshieldr Shield Skin

That’s all we’ve got for now. We’ll have more details to share over the next few months as we get closer to release on January 14, 2022.

    PC can have the old games. PS gets the new ones. I still far prefer playing on console than PC cos PC always feels like a hassle to me anyway. It’s mostly my work machine and my PS is my entertainment machine I can play and feel relaxed and detached away from the stressy work stuff.

      I own a wonderful PC too and never use it to play games. Generally because I don’t like gaming on a PC, and also ports often run like rubbish.

      Then again I generally have no interest in any of Sony’s first party games, because they’re all kind of the same genre and tone, so don’t really care if they were Switch Exclusives (maybe R&C can stay). It’s just a bit annoying that they’re spending so much time rehashing and releasing rather than making more diverse new experiences from a wider range of cultural backgrounds.

    It feels like we’re being bullied by Sony as PlayStation fans. We gotta constantly beg for upgrades. All we get is a 60fps patch if we’re lucky. Not to mention that we have to pay more for games. They gotta take our money like the bullies they are. It’s like they are dangling better quality games just out of our reach and passing them to PC gamers just to be mean. They are completely screwing us over this generation.

    We gotta wait and wait to hopefully get something small like folders on our console while Sony is doing so much for PC gamers. It’s sad really. It sucks how we’re being left out.

    Stop catering to the PC community and put your console gamers first. There’s plenty of time to bring the games to PC. All I’ve been playing is PS4 games on my PS5 for the last year. The UI is terrible. The PS5 already feels outdated. Give us new features or something for crying out loud. Our biggest update to the console so far was for expensive SSD drives.

    The only exciting news I’ve heard from you guys has been for the PC gamers.

    What a shame. What a complete turnaround from last gen. This is terrible.

    What surprise Jim Ryan who only cares about the bottom line is putting another playstation exclusive on pc. There can be no doubt that when you do that you dilute what makes the playstation console such a unique/special place to game. I really wish Sony would not try to copy Microsoft and followed Nintendo instead. Nintendo would never dilute their brand by putting their games on pc. That’s why the switch was the top selling console for nearly 3 years in a row. Jim Ryan does not care about what makes playstation special. No Jim Ryan wishes he could sell millions upon millions of games. In a time of record profit with 44 billion dollars of cash on hand, it’s not enough. To me the console is what made the playstation the brand that it is today and should always be the focus. Rental streaming services like Ps Now and the Cloud should be there to augment the console, not be the end game. Likewise pc ports should be few and far between to entice pc players not a given it’s coming to pc. And Ps5 games going to pc should be after minimum of 5 years. If they do day and day pc releases I will be done. I have owned every playstation simce 1995 and love playstation. But their moves lately are not good. Like do the Ps Vita dirty. Like lying about saying they believed in generations, and putting tons of games on Pc. We are going up to 6 games by spring. Lame!

      Cancelling pre-orders and memberships are the best case scenario for us once Sony won’t listen to us unless we make them make a loss here .     Sony really seems to be set on undermining the PlayStation brand. Exclusives sell hardware, which sells the platform, which provides the marketplace & ecosystem where PlayStation makes all of its net profit. Releasing more & more exclusives on PC is selling the foundation to the house to make a quick buck. Microsoft can do that in part because they make money on PCs & consoles. Sony doesn’t have that advantage.

    Giving more options to gamers is great. Love my ps5 but the PC I built in January is stronger.

    How about you guys creat a PC app to compete with steam, Microsoft sore and epic games store? So pc people can get releases day and date with the console releases.

    Also having full support for all Dual Sense features would be great in PC.

    Hi to everyone, I don’t know if someone from Sony will read this, but I am very disappointed by PlayStation. I bought PS5 for the exclusives, I am a big Fan of PlayStation, but those PC ports are bad for PlayStation reputation, and It’s unfair the PC gets the best edition of the game and PS the middle finger. Also, the PC edition It’s cheaper on pc than PlayStation, so what’s the point for someone to own a PlayStation from now on? We all know all the games will come on pc and I believe we will see in the near future day one releases on pc. So with this behavior, Sony clarifies that it doesn’t care for the PS Community but only for PC ports we didn’t even get a proper port for god of war on PS5. That It’s disrespect to the costumers, also you released Ghost of tsushima Director’s Cut, and we paid $10 extra for the PS5 Update and the same time we all know when Ghost of tsushima Director’s Cut will come on pc they will pay 59.99. Sony, you are a big disappointment and don’t forget you build the only on PlayStation community. You create this category, and now you erase it. You were shouting at E3 the slogan only on PlayStation and the best place to play. Not only that, but you were the top company for gaming, now you are not thank you for what have you done in the past. Now It’s time for me to move to other platform.

    Sony couldn’t afford Square Enix unless they sold 2/3rds of the company or did a merger.

    The entirety of Sony is 45 billion, the console/games part is only a bit of that.

    SE is 15 billion, so around 30 to 40 to purchase outright.

    Sony, if you think that porting games onto pc will make pc players wanna buy your new gen console, you’re simply wrong.
    I don’t know if you’ve done solid research on the community but they’re very dedicated to their hardware and will simply wait until you port the sequels of those games onto their platform. And I thought you guys were fully dedicated to your exclusives and your branding. That’s why you’ve always used the “only on playstation” motto. But I guess i’m wrong. Times have changed now and I see no full use of being hyped of buying a ps5.
