Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade: 7 tips and tricks for playing as Yuffie Kisaragi

From Synergy to Fort Condor, this guide will prep you for FF7R Episode Intermission when it launches June 10.

In less than 24 hours, Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade arrives. We know a lot of you can’t wait for the big day. Not only will you get to relive the wonder of Final Fantasy VII Remake as an enhanced adventure on PlayStation 5, you’ll be able to play as Yuffie Kisaragi for the first time in FF7R Episode Intermission.

You can choose to start with the original tale of Cloud and company or jump directly into the brand-new adventure with Yuffie. It’s entirely up to you. If you are planning to dive straight into FF7R Episode Intermission, we’ve put together seven (or should that be VII) tips and tricks to help you prep your strategy while you wait!

1. Use Yuffie’s Shuriken to collect items

Yuffie’s throwing arm is a force to be reckoned with. She can fling her oversized shuriken long range – not just in battle, but in town too.

Look around as often as you can to spot boxes that might contain items; you never know what might be hiding in plain sight.

2. Equip the right materia for success

Yuffie has her own Elemental Ninjutsu, giving her the ability to change her attack’s affinity to fire, ice, lightning, or wind. This means she doesn’t need to rely on elemental materia like Cloud and his friends.

Instead, focus on equipping her with stat-boosting materia and ability materia that expands her options in combat. We’re partial to Steal ourselves.

3. Know when to synergize

Pressing L2 will engage Synergy between Yuffie and Sonon. This allows them to team up for special attacks and more easily stagger enemies. Plus, it looks awesome.

If that sounds too good to be true… well, you’re right. Using Synergy will slow your ATB gauge regeneration to a crawl. So, be sure to maximize your time in and out of Synergy.

4. Let Sonon take the hits

Yuffie’s ninjutsu is incredibly strong, but she’s not invincible. A tough enemy or group of enemies can easily overwhelm her if she’s not careful.

It’s a good thing then that she’s not alone. Sonon trained under Yuffie’s father in Wutai, and not only is he a skilled warrior, he’s pretty buff, too. So, use him to take the brunt of the enemies’ ire wherever you can.

We recommend equipping Sonon with Provoke materia, which lets him draw an enemy’s attention, and gives Yuffie a bit of breathing room. You can also command him to use his Incite ability in battle, which lets him grab an enemy’s attention for three attacks.

Stay on your toes though – it’s not so effective when used on powerful enemies.

5. Fort Condor strategy tips

In Fort Condor, ranged units get a bonus against defense units, defense units get a bonus against vanguard (attack) units, and vanguard units get a bonus against ranged units. Pay attention to what your opponent’s units are weak to and build your strategy from there.

Also, the board you pick determines the number of ATB charges and materia available to you, so choose one that plays to your own strengths.

6. Complete Happy Turtle quests for neat stuff

Aside from the main story, there are side quests to complete that will give you neat stuff!

For example, if you’re really into the Fort Condor minigame, doing the Happy Turtle series of quests will get you some really great Fort Condor boards and units (for a price, of course.)

7. Battle against familiar faces in Fort Condor

Fort Condor is back as a tactical board game and its quest line brings some neat surprises!

As you defeat the rank 1 players, you’ll be able to unlock rank 2 players, and so on. On your journey to defeat the grandmaster, you’ll be able to play Fort Condor against familiar faces, like your girl Jessie!

So, battle everyone you can!

Thanks for reading. I hope these tips prove helpful when you jump back into Midgar on June 10.

  • I’m very excited, but I’ve still got some questions! I’m going to assume the free upgrade will become available once the game launches, but does this mean we don’t get the Cacstar weapon for Yuffie? Do the deluxe edition and armor add-on contents from the original PS4 version carry over to the enhanced version? What happens if I had a piece of materia or armor equipped that was part of those?

    • I read somewhere that the summons and pre order stuff will be free to download for everyone in the upgrade, but don’t quote me on it.

  • Will we get any dlc for final fantasy 7 remake for the people who have the game on ps4 just wondering

    • Nope. If you have the PS4 version, you have to buy the DLC seperately, but you will still get the PS5 upgrade for free if you have one. However, if you buy FF7R: Integrade on PS5, you get the DLC (episode Intermission) and the PS5 upgrade included, too.

So in short, they’re forcing you to buy the new version of the game to get the DLC. But at least they’re giving you the Cactar and Carbuncle for free to you now, so…

  • Totally sucks that if you own the PS4 version you get the PS5 update for free but if you have the PS+ version you don’t. Once again proving that PS+ games aren’t really yours at all. They’re limited rentals for PS+ subscribers.

    • It totally sucks that PS4 users can’t buy the DLC. It in the small print and in the trailers.

  • you can delete the comment many times, PS4 users get treated disrespect things won’t. Change a thing.

    *Post screenshoted.

  • It’s still not clear if PS5 owners upgrading from PS4 should be downloading the PS4 app or if there will be a PS5 app tomorrow. Please clarify, thanks!

    • Yea, I figured it’d be automatic… Fat chance. Once again, I’ve been anything but encouraged to try last-gen games on PS5… Immediately deleted Horizon too as the performance was horrible on PS5 (but to be fair, that one doesn’t have an upgrade).

  • Seriously? Yuffie’s Cacstar is £8, a dlc weapon…for £16 dlc?!

  • Haven’t been a final fantasy fan but might get this and 16 I don’t own 7 remake so I’ll get the ps5 version it’ll come with the dlc bit expensive why not

  • I have final fantasy 7 remake for ps4 I pre order it is there a chance that you will make the other parts of final fantasy 7 remake for ps4 and ps5

    • Yes at 70 whatever money your country uses and then an extra release of part two and three with a tiny bit of dlc added like this one

  • Nah the dlc is only ps5 it’s a scum tbh

  • OK, I’m done with this. First I install the game on PS5, figuring it would automatically upgrade. Sit there waiting for an hour and a half to install. Then I start the game and notice it’s the PS4 version. Then I read you only need to insert the Play disc (not the install one) and download the upgrade from the store. So I delete my PS4 version and do that. Now I read that, in order to transfer your save data, you first have to have to PS4 version installed (that I JUST deleted) with the latest patch and transfer your save data via there. Then you can finally install the PS5 version and sit there for another hour and a half. I haven’t experienced anything this needlessly and frustratingly complicated since MGS4 multiplayer. You couldn’t be more clear on this in this post so close to launch? Very disappointed I’m going to miss out on this but I’m not going through all that again.

  • Why is it 95.95 GB

  • So is this not able to be downloaded on ps4 to play this add on? Or do I have to buy a ps5 in order to play this addition? Really looking forward to the cosmo canyon quest in the future 🤞🏻
