How “Featuring Dante” happened in Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne HD Remaster

Insight on the demonic crossover, releasing for PS4 on May 25 with Dante as a DLC character.

The remaster of the Atlus classic is essentially two games in one – The first version of the game released in 2003, then a version released in 2008 for Japan only brought in Raidou Kuzunoha from Atlus’s Devil Summoner series. Then a second version, the only version released for the West, known as Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne (or Lucifer’s Call for the European folks) featured Capcom’s Dante from the Devil May Cry series. For the release of the Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne HD Remaster, Raidou is included in the base game and Dante can join the party as DLC!

From HD character models to in-game backgrounds, we’ve remastered everything—even the iconic  meme. For the first time ever, here’s the “Featuring Dante from the Devil May Cry series” sticker in HD.

Download the #FeaturingDante image above (or from here), and feel free to paste it on anything – even your very own copy of Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne HD Remaster for the PS4! The Featuring Dante sticker lets people know whatever you slap it on… truly has it all.

*Disclaimer: Artists’ rendering only, does not represent the final packaged product.

The Atlus and Capcom collaboration of the unique meme comes from a simple idea: “Dante is a ‘Devil Hunter’” and Demi-fiend is “part human, part demon.” It just made sense.

Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne HD Remaster Director Kazuyuki Yamai looks back on the original release and recalls, “The dev team initially thought it was a crazy idea to pursue a crossover across two different publishers. However, they were also captivated by the idea of the two characters’ encountering one another and their ensuing battle. So they brought the proposal to Capcom, and the rest is history!”

  • Bring back and remaster Socom 2 & Combined Assault on the PS5 PLEASE!

  • Disappointing that the DLC is not included already to a pretty old game.

  • Very excited for the game, though the first paragraph here has the information a little backwards. The original version of Nocturne released in Japan in 2003 didn’t have Dante or Raidou. There were no crossover characters in that version (nor the major questline it shows up in or True Demon Ending). The second version of the game did add all that stuff alongside Dante, and that was the only version released in the West originally. But Raidou came in a third version released after that as a packaged tie-in with Devil Summoner 2: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. King Abaddon, several years later in 2008.

    • You can tell because Raidou is just skinned over the stuff they’d already done for Dante and not always perfectly.

  • …you see akshweallly…..

  • Nice…I didn’t know Dante was in this game. And like mwatcher said it’s disappointing to see that the DLC is not already included.

  • Second version of the game brought in Dante, third version brought in Raidou. Please fact check.

  • Paid DLC. Absolutely ridiculous. Think about this for a moment.

The version people remember in the West, is the version with Dante. The HD version being sold in the West however, only features Raidou. Therefore, despite shilling itself in the west as an HD version of “SMT 3 Nocturne”– the game you remember– it’s actually “SMT 3 Nocturne JP” which is a different game. And you have to pay *extra money* to play the content you remembered. Does nobody else find this completely absurd?

    • They most likely had to pay for the rights to bring in Raidou and it was most likely Capcom’s decision. The game itself is already being sold for less than Atlus’ standard $60. Just look at Catherine Full Body, which was sold at pretty much the same price and was basically the same game plus another character. This game was remastered and added stuff people like myself have wanted for years.
So no, I don’t find it too absurd.

    • > They most likely had to pay for the rights to bring in Raidou

My dude, Raidou **IS AN ATLUS PROPERTY**, he’s part of SMT as the “Devil Summoner” spin-offs on PS2.

If anything, Atlus had to pay for **DANTE** due to Capcom.

    • Atlus are a well known price bloat company.

I mean, they keep reselling Persona 5 (a PS3 title) for full price?

They couldn’t do the “royal” bit as a DLC? Nope. Rebuy a PS3 title.

  • Sony is truly embracing the old memes xD
I love this thank you for the image I will paste it everywhere

  • If this came with a steelbook and all I’d be all over it on release, but I think I can wait for a sale.

  • Can you guys please bring over p4g or the other persona games onto the PS4 please! You’ve guys would’ve made more money if did a hybrid release on the p4g steam release with ps4.

  • Probably my favorite RPG of all time!
I still have the Original on PS2!
    CANT FREAKIN WAIT!

  • Atlus should make a Remaster for all the SMT for ps4/ps5/Vita

    Also Remaster/Remake Persona 3

  • I don’t know if you’re taking question but I’d like to know if you will be adding any kind of PS5 support.
