The story of this first, standalone game in the Final Fantasy VII Remake project covers up to the party’s escape from Midgar, and goes deeper into the events occurring in Midgar than the classic original.

  • Great to see more players being able to play FF7R if they haven’t already. Sucks you can’t upgrade to PS5 tho.

    • I just got the disc version last week too, at least it will still be useful to grab the update to PS5.

    • What do you mean cant upgrade?
They announced the PS5 version yesterday, launches in June and PS5 gets a free upgrade, including the new Yuffie story

    • @earth_inheritor

      1. The PS Plus version doesn’t get the option to upgrade to the PS5 version
      2. The PS5 version upgraded from PS4, does NOT include Yuffie story, that’s DLC.

    • Nice lineup on paper but for me it’s trash. Remnant be on sale constantly, so I bought it. Farpoint is great but anyone with VR should own it. Puzzle games, nah.

FFVII. Wow. Great get, right? No. Not for me. A PS5 owner who’s played it on PS4. I was so excited thinking we got the PS5 upgrade free. Then, to find out we aren’t even eligible to purchase the upgrade off this? Are u kidding? This is garbage. Obviously this was the dispute that held up the deal. Square didn’t want to allow PS+ members to upgrade to the PS5 edition.

    • It wouldn’t be bad to get PS5 games if I could ever get a PS5 console. I was 2 seconds away from getting one twice and they never gave it to me. It never looks like I’m getting one so I’m not going to get any games this month either I guess. You have 1 game I can get it looks like.

    • @iamtylerdurden1

      Wow, talk about childish.

Remnant is great. I’ve been looking for a fun co-op game to play with my wife, ever since Monster Hunter World stopping updating their game last year. I had actually looked into getting Remnant in the past, but never pulled the trigger on it. Pretty much a perfect game for me.

My brother loves puzzles games, but doesn’t own a Playstation. I will bring mine over to his house and play puzzle games (The Witness, Sojourn, Talos Principle)…Now granted, I don’t own a PS5 (yet), but i can add it to my library and play it when I do get a PS5. So basically a perfect game right there too.

FFX was the first FF game I ever played and I never got around to playing FFVII. Truth is, I’m perfectly fine never playing it, but still had an interest in it. Now that I can get it free with PS+, I’m pretty excited about playing it.

Farpoint got decent reviews. I will be trying that game out as well.

A pretty amazing month for myself.
You’re only acting like a child because you already played these or don’t think they are good enough.

PS+ has been amazing so far this year, and you’d have to be slow or a child to not realize it :)

  • FF7 Remake and Maquette just as I said would be. The fact that FF7 remake can’t be upgraded is why this wasn’t in the State of Play yesterday. You’re still getting an amazing game. Keep up the great work on the PS+ front Sony. Can’t wait for Oddworld in April too

    • The fact that FFVII can not be upgraded is a huge disappointment. Obviously it’s what held up the announcement. I blame Square more than I do Sony, but it still renders the lineup virtually useless for many PS5 owners and myself. At least offer an upgrade path.

Remnant and FFVII are fantastic gets on paper and I’m happy for PS4 owners, but nothing for myself. At least I own the DLC for Remnant..

    • It’s a shame, but think about. How many active PS+ users are there on PS4 right now compared to PS5. Millions more.

    • Square Enix mogstation technical support is also useless, not helpful at all, I am at least happy to play remake because i dont think i gotten to play original!

    • @iamtylerdurden1 Can’t you still play it on ps5 with backwards compatibility?

  • Uh, that FF7 not upgradable (even at a cost) is a huge bummer for me.
Well, I’ll try Maquette at least.

    • It can’t be that huge though. If you were a “huge” fan of FFVII Remake, surely you would have bought it day one……… or the past 10 months, with multiple sales throughout.

    • @andrewsqual yeah no true Scotsman is my favorite logical fallacy.

I’m with you Klaw. Wish it came with the ps5 upgrade.

    • LOL. Imagine shaming someone who isn’t willing to pay $60 for a game that runs at 30fps.

I honestly don’t know how people are still okay with games running so slowly.

    • Imagine making the argument that a game running at 30fps is the sole reason to not pay full price for it, even if you make yourself out to be somewhat a fan of that game.

      ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

What next? Expect a developer to pay you to play their game if it runs at 29fps lol? I got nothing else mate.

    • To be fair pretty much every game on the PS4, PS3, PS2 and PS1 runs at 30FPS or less.

So making the statement that no games in the last 50 years are worthwhile buying is a bit weird. I mean, even on PC there’s barely any games that run at “smooth” 60.

Also, 30fps games don’t generally run “slower”. If the games are running twice the speed at 60fps there’s a coding error. 😜

    • @MiseryPrincess that’s not even close to true. Many PS1 and PS2 games were 60fps, with even most of PS2’s launch games being 60fps. It wasn’t until PS3 that 60fps became such a rarity.

    • @MiseryPrincess you are also full of it about PC. The large majority of PC games run at 60fps or above. Why lie about something you obviously know nothing about?

    • @andrewsqual you’re accidentally correct. Nobody should be happily paying money for games that run this poorly. I *do not* play games that run at 30fps, and there are certain genres that I’m unwilling to play on PC below 120fps.

Don’t make excuses for the giant company putting out games at 30fps

@miseryprincess you’ve already been corrected, but for good measure if you’re going to make a semantics argument you should at least turn your brain on beforehand.

FPS = frames per second. The higher the fps, the lower the frametime. The game is literally running faster. Game logic handles in-game time.

Don’t try to be intellectual if you’re incapable of thinking.

    • @Lambduh
“FPS = frames per second. The higher the fps, the lower the frametime. The game is literally running faster. Game logic handles in-game time.

Don’t try to be intellectual if you’re incapable of thinking”

LOL I like how you’re calling out people for stupidity and like you’re so intellectual yourself all the whole le you’re literally making the dumbest statement I’ve seen here so far.

It LITERALLY says frames PER SECOND. A second is a second, it will not be any longer or shorter if you have more frames in it lol. It will feel faster because it is smoother to have more frames. And yes, sometimes when frames drop suddenly, the game slows down a bit. But other than this, it’s basically smoother and more visually pleasing.

Don’t try to be intellectual if you’re incapable of thinking.

    • @bulletofmullz You seem to be the person who pounces on people of literally nothing, and thinks they won a fight because they used the word “intelectual”. Im with @Lambduh on this one cheif. I ain’t playing a game on 30 frames. And less frames makes a MASSIVE difference, not just a small one. Play a game on 30, then go to 90, and see your preformance go way up. I used to play rocketleague on terrible laptop frames, moved to ps4, and went up 3 ranks in about a month with the same playing time.

    • someone told me, for upgrade for 30 for PS5 version. But who knows…

  • How will you be able to differentiate between a ps plus copy of ff7 and a non ps plus copy?

I have the physical release of FF7 Remake, if I claim the ps plus version, does this invalidate my upgrade?

    • I have the exact same question lol. I want to PS Plus digital for my PS4. But then I have the physical version for upgrading on my PS5 I would think?

    • I doubt it, but you’ll probably have to put in your disk to play it. As your disk will be your license key.

    • Glad im not the only one wondering this. I’d be afraid of claiming PS+ version, if you somehow screws up my free PS5 upgrade from my physical version. And knowing Sony, it most likely will in one way or another.

    • that’s exactly what I just asked myself and asked the same question on the German PS blog. ;-)

    • Why would you claim the game if you already own it?

    • @Zuntenshi Sony is known for screwing people out of free updates they already had for games? When did that become the norm for you. Do you have examples of having such a thing taken from you by Sony before?

    • There are plenty of reasons to claim a digital version of a game you own a physical release of, especially when you are paying for a service that offers you digital releases every month.

    • The disc version and digital versions have separate installs.

When I got the digital version of For Honor, had both installed on my machine for a short while.

(wanted to wait until the digital version was fully downloaded before deleting the disc version)

    • I’m almost 100% positive that the PS4 and the PS5 can tell when the game is being played (started up) on a disc versus a PS+ download.
Both versions are coded to be able to differentiate between things like that.

    • Your disc based version or even the digital version will have a separate icon and exe in your library from the PS Plus version so you will know which version is upgradable on PS5. This happened before when some people got a game and then they offered the same game through PS Plus, they got 2 instances of that same game in their libraries. You will have 2 instances of FF7R. Don’t worry.

    • Majik_Meerkat nailed it. Sony can differentiate physical from digital version of each game. So you shouldn’t have problem with you concern.

      Regards.

    • Hope that sony/square-enix make an official statement regarding to this :S I’m really confused in this… and afraid to lose my pshysical version upgrade path if I claim the psplus version.

    • They’ll probably add a “special” PS+ version.

Like with the TR game that came out recently. The only version on the store was the “deluxe” so they added a special PS+ only non deluxe.

    • @Maaden_Swe obviously so you don’t have to put the disc in everytime you want to play.

@xSoftAssassin people have had issues in the past with being unable to actually purchase a game digitally that they had already claimed via plus because they wanted to unsub from plus but still play the game, but PS wouldn’t allow the purchase. It’s not outside the realm of possibility for there to be issues with PSN knowing you own a legitimate copy of you claim the plus one.

  • Awesome month. Wanted final fantasy & remnant from the ashes for ages but never found the right moment to buy them.

  • Wow, very good games for PS Plus in recent months. Starting to remind me of the instant game collection on vita.

  • No upgrade path on FF7R makes ABSOLUTELY no sense. At least offer a paid option, or put the game on sale.

    • The PS4 version has been on sale quite a few times both at retail and digitally

    • Too bad I just bought FF7 and already own Remnant.

    • Agreed there should be ‘some’ upgrade path, maybe not free; A lot of us were on the fence about it when it was on sale; because they kept this information secret we’ll all be paying $70; just doesn’t sit right – they should have told us about the free upgrade last year.

  • Minor bummer over the FF7R upgrade option but PS+ continues to kill it. Amazing month. For someone who was a big Witness fan, Maquette also looks intriguing.

I’ve had Plus for 7 years now, with PS+ Collection on PS5 as well. I think my PS+ library is probably stronger now than Gamepass.

  • Excellent lineup. Thank you guys, keep it up. Even if you cant upgrade FFVII REMAKE, I’m so happy I’m getting it for free as part of Plus

  • FF7 given from Plus not available? But why? I would gladly give a fiver or a tenner to upgrade my Plus FF7 to native PS5.

    • Of course you would gladly give a fiver, you never even bought the game the past 10 months it seems. 🤣

      You’re so generous though.

  • No PS Now games in the lineup…. Its a miracle!!!

  • Can I play the ps4 version on my ps5, though? That seems good enough for me

  • FF7R? best month ever for PS plus.
Can’t believe they offered it this soon

    • Great lineup of PS+ games! I will buy FFVII on my PS5. When I can find a PS5… Until then I will enjoy it on my PS4. Farpoint is funon PSVR

  • Haven’t had a VR game in a while on Plus. Too bad I don’t own a VR. I always put them in my library just in case I ever buy one.

  • Worth the wait! I knew remnant and fairpoint would be free, but FFXII is a surprise.

  • Amazing Month for March. Even though I can’t upgrade to PS5 version, but at least I can now finally play Final Fantasy 7 Remake on PS4. Glad I was holding back against purchasing it during holiday sale. Remnant: From the ashes seem interested game to download.

  • Thanks for the news. I’m excited to try Far point and Maquette. I already own FF7R and am happy more people get to experience it. I would like to understand why the PS+ version does not allow upgrading to the PS5 version.

    • Because getting a huge game like that less than a year after it released was bound to have a drawback. Square just wants more money simple as that

  • If we buy the Digital Deluxe upgrade for Final Fantasy 7 Remake, currently £15, after getting the PS+ version does that entitle us to the free PS5 upgrade?

    • That would be a clever workaround – someone should try it!

    • If someone tries it, let me know if it works. Easiest way to check would be to see if it still has the PS+ icon beside it in the games library.

    • No. The Digital Deluxe upgrade literally just gives you the DLC add-ons that come with the Deluxe Edition. Your base game would still be an unpaid Plus download.

  • FF7 remake is actually worth whole year of PS+, i’m mildly impressed. Remnant is actually quite cool co-op game, happy to return to it and finish the DLC’s.

  • Well this is quite a nice game lineup, too bad I already have FFVIIIR disc on release day last year.

    • I do too but how is that bad? You can get a free digital copy and you have your disc to get the free PS5 upgrade in June.

  • Some people can’t stop complaining even when there is good news it’s sad really.

    • Right?…that’s the human being.FF7 honestly should shut the entitled mouth of all them complainers for a long time but no.

  • I think it’s incredibly rude and screwed up that Sony/PlayStation don’t allow us PS4 users to add PS5 games to our library while we are PS Plus subscribers. I have no doubt you realize most of us plan and want to get a PS5 when possible.

    • They just want the misinformed to miss the games so they have to pay afterwards, they did the same for PS4.You can get the games through the web Store.

      Welcome.

    • Download the Playstation app, you can claim the Ps5 games there :)

    • You can add the PS5 PS+ Games to your library using your PC/tablet web browser. Then when you buy the PS5 you can download it from your account’s library and play the games, simple.

    • I think he is talking about the PS4 Instant game collection of 20 games. You need a PS5 console to grab those.
Sony are very aware of the PS5 stock issues and I’m sure they won’t change up the 20 games in that collection until stock demands start slowing down.

    • Whatever of the above, the point of GermaximusS is completely moot.

If it’s about monthly games: you can claim those at store.playstation.com . If it’s about the PS+ Collection, this is not going to disappear any time soon and is a gift to PS5 owners specifically.

  • This is unbelievable, how come?…how come FF7 is being offered on Plus this soon?…I just can’t believe ma eyes, game ain’t even a year old yet and it was a huge success. For me the real star this month is Remnant though damn what a great offer, been waiting on sale to get it and I do want it digital ha…y’all been on a streak of giving games that should be given on the lineup, this streak is nearly unbelievable as well.

Farpoint is a very welcome offer as well and can’t say anything about Maquette game cuz I don’t know it.

    Fantastic month!!

    • Probably wasn’t that “big” a success. It was never at the top of the charts here or anywhere and is on sale constantly (no point reducing a game to 50-60% off if it’s a massive seller).

So it’s not really that shocking.

  • I got my FF7 RE disc version two weeks later than it started to sale and it’s the greatest game I’ve ever played. Obviously more gamer are going to get ps5 for the Intergrade version(including me).

    • Not bad that Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 1 was added as a free game for March 2021 PS Plus games next month. But good luck to everyone including myself to download it online because I believe the digital file size is close to 100 gigabytes. Yikes. 😵 Gotta delete some games to make space to download this game.

  • OMG! One of the best PS+ lineups ever! Playstation has been delivering incredible games for PS+! Keep it up! Can’t wait.

  • No upgrade path makes it sound like I
Will get locked out of the option if I redeem next month.

  • I’ll probably just forego redeeming FF7R until I can pick it up super cheap in the future on an inevitable flash sale so I can have it on both consoles.
    SMH what a ridiculous deal…

  • Like soooo many i picked up FF7 remake day 1 but ive been wanting to play remnant for a while and just havent bought it so thats awesome. The ps5 title looks overwhelmingly meh and i literally dont know a human who owns VR of any kind.

  • Really, Final Fantasy VII Remake for PS+?
Incredible PS+ for 2021, i’m very excited, i have already have Final Fantasy VII Remake disk version, for you that’s not or want to buy it, this is the best time to have it 👍👍👍

    Thank you Sony Playstation.

  • Using Final Fantasy 7 to try and wipe our memories of the complete lack of respect and betrayal of trust by closing Japan Studios and sticking games on PC with upgrades we don’t get, nice try but I meant what I said I will milk my plus subscription till it expires with the freebies then I’m gone you have lost my respect now

    • What a drama queen you are man. So PS games will also come to PC. That’s good for business and the developers. Go buy a box of kleenex ya cry baby.

  • This is awesome! Farpoint is really fun, can’t wait to play with new players online.

  • This kind of sucks that Square-Enix will not allow digital owners of Final Fantasy VII Remake to have the upgrade to PS5; as that’s the version I’m currently using! I had to get it because of a mass screw-up with Amazon! I purchased the game through them, but never got it. After over a month of contacting them over and over again; I was finally able to get a refund, but it was store credit only because I used a gift card. Luckily; I was able to get it through Gamestop after the fact because I wanted the physical copy. Not everyone is so lucky to have both copies laying around! So to tell those players who bought this digital edition; especially those who have the Digital-Edition of PS5, they won’t get Intergrade unless they dish out more money, is appalling!

    • The regular digital version of FF7R will be upgradable for free to the PS5 version. Only the digital version delivered with PS+ will not be upgradable.

    • Only the PS+ version of the digital copy isn’t eligible so your fine you get the upgrade for free don’t worry as you purchased an entitlement.

What is appalling is the lack of paid option to upgrade form PS+ version, whoever is at fault it’s bad. I’ll blame both Sony and Square.

The worst issue here in reality is having to sit out of the 30fps PS4 as a primarily PC gamer to find out the PS5 60fps version is $69.99 (basically $77 after tax) for a 3rd party exclusive.

I’m sure people will just say “if you a fan you’d gladly pay that!” You all sure do eat up the bare minimum release at a premium price. A lot of us are smarter than that and can wait.

  • I already bought the digital version of FF7 Remake many, many months ago, so I know that I’ll be getting the free PS5 upgrade when it becomes available and whenever I’m actually able to find the ever elusive PS5.
A PS5 sighting in a store or on a store’s website is eerily similar to that of a UFO sighting. You tell everyone and anyone that will listen to you about it. You swear up and down that you saw it, but you just can’t prove it!!!

  • Great month and farpoint vr is a gem. One of the best experiences on psvr.

  • Another very strong month.
Great to see a VR title there and that Marquette game looks really intriguing.

  • I was the first to know that Maquette gonna be among the PS Plus games the exact moment the trailer dropped due to its release date coinciding with PS Plus release day which is Tuesday 2nd

Do Remnant: From the Ashes have and Farpoint a PS5 update planned?

So FF7 Remake will be free through PS Plus but won’t let us upgrade on PS5 for free? Will this lock us form getting Intergrate and its pre-order DLCs and no way to upgrade the base game on PS5? What is the purpose of offering FF7R then?

  • Just Wow! Thank you, Sony! Best month for me from a while.

  • That’s a great list … I got FF7 remake on Black Friday … Still haven’t opened it … Guess I won’t have to.

  • I just purchased FF 7 remake a few weeks ago and haven’t even started playing it yet. Now it’s free? Can I get refund?

  • Strong line-up for March especially for gamers who play RPGs like me… Great stuff… Thanks, Sony!!!

  • finally some good games

  • Disappointed it’s FF7 Remake after all… Other than the fact I already own it, it feels like a misguided celebration of losing yet another exclusive (as it won’t be locked to this system for much longer)… The other games don’t interest me at all, with the exception of Maquette. Definitely liked the previous lineup better. Oh well, at least Oddworld next month.

  • Seems kind of dumb the PS4 version of Final Fantasy 7 remake that’s part of PlayStation Plus can’t be upgraded to the PS5.

So why did I get a PS5 then? Apparently to just play PS4 games😑

    • Sony is renaming the PS5 the PS4 Pro 2.

That way they never actually have to release any games for it. Which saves effort.

    • Well…yeah, if you bought a ps5 expecting to get all your next gen games for free, that’s pretty much exactly what you get.

  • Awesome month! FF7 remake is a great game

  • So, I have the deluxe edition of the game (physical, and loved playing it). If I do get the ps+ game and want to upgrade to a ps5 version do I need to just put the disk or do I need not to get the ps+ version? I do not have a ps5 currently (it’s been very difficult to impossible to get ahold of one), but I do plan to get one at the end of the year or early 2022.

    • you can only get a upgrade if you have the digital version. so you would have to rebuy the ps5 version if you wanted to play the game with better graphics.

  • 2 awesome months in a row!

  • Wow this is a Megaton. I can’t wait to see PSNOW updates

  • Great month but not for me, already played ff7 remake and remnant before

  • No free PS5 upgrade for Final Fantasy Remake is weird.

  • I find it somewhat understandable but mostly cheap and bothersome that you can’t upgrade the PS plus Final Fantasy 7 Remake to the PS5 version in June. Personally I was happy that I’ll be able to conveniently play the game without having to switch the disc. Now however I’m worried that there might be trouble upgrading my disc version to PS5 if I’ve also added the PS plus downloadable version to my account. I hope the game recognizes all this correctly and hassle free.

It’s still kind of a hassle that I’ll have insert my FF7R disc if I want to play the upgraded PS5 version in juni. It’s just so Square Enix, trying to get extra money out of you. Couldn’t they just be happy with the money they’d make from all the PS plus players wanting to buy the Intergrade expansion. I doubt they’ll get much extra money from ps plus subscribers wanting to buy the whole PS5 version now all of a sudden. Instead they’ll just be missing out of more people paying for Intergrade. At least that’s what I think. And that’s another thing, Intergrade only being available on PS5… I’m just gonna stop now, this initially amazing sounding PS plus announcement is starting to get me depressed.
