  • Traitors

“Only On PlayStation” is dead, so the PlayStation will die.

    You want more money.
    You have lost your dignity.

    • Hehe, you are funny. I do enjoy the game but you do realize almost nobody outside the US care about baseball right? So no, nothing will die just because MLB comes to Xbox.

    • so…they sell on another platform … big whoop, I fail to see how this affects your ability to play and enjoy the game. unless if it affects the ps version (I highly doubt it will), I doubt this will be a problem …p.s. look at it this way, sony will give microsoft its first 90+ metacritic game

    • It’s goddamn baseball quit whining

This is nowhere near the caliber of something like GOD OF WAR ON XBOX or RATCHET & CLANK ON NINTENDO SWITCH

    • Sony taking The Show multiplatform as of 2021 was a condition of their new contact with MLB.

It was very likely a case of either go multiplatform or risk losing the license, and this series makes money.

Besides, a willingness on Sony’s part to let certain exclusives that make sense going multiplatform (like this one) could pay dividends down the road now that Microsoft owns Doom, Elder Scrolls, etc. A little quid pro quo.

    • Should have been betts or beli on cover

    • When the alternative is lose the license, and close down that studio and put those families in financial hardship . . . . being multiplat isn’t a big deal for this series.

    • Console makers have been putting games on competing platforms for a long time. Go all the way back to the early ’80s where you can find Mattel Electronics publishing Intellivision games on the 2600 under the M-Network brand or Coleco publishing games like Nintendo’s Donkey Kong on Intellivision. Although Sega and Nintendo didn’t self publish on the competitor’s systems until Sega abandoned the Dreamcast, third parties brought Sega properties like After Burner to NES. Of course, Microsoft owns Minecraft which is on every platform and worked with THQ to put Viva Pinata on 3DS, and more recently published the Ori games on Switch. It’s business and the bottom line is making money any way you can. This is more of a decision by MLB and licensing deal though, and I assumed MLB would publish the Xbox versions and that is what is showing on the digital Microsoft store listing. It’s possible another studio took the development lead on the Xbox versions too.

    • @NassirKing It won’t “sell well” on Xbox. That is the problem. And of course having to cater the game engine to the lowest common denominator current gen console of last gen will affect the game.

    • And Microsoft has Minecraft on the PlayStation platform. So what?

Money doesn’t care where it comes from. I hope Sony sells a crazy number of units on BOTH platforms!

    • Xbox guys have begging for a real baseball game 2K up and left them, I am happy for them.
      Don’t be bitter.

    • Psydswipe

lists third party studios, then tried to pull “but muh minecwaft”. Which also was a third party game which had to stay there.

This is how gaming dies and more shovel/vaporware comes, non gamers singing kumbaya as then industry tanks out.

    • “Only on PlayStation is dead.”

      Good.

  • Imagine whining about a baseball game losing exclusivity

Oh boo hoo more people get to play baseball than just people who own a PlayStation

    Baseball is PlayStation’s thing

  • They were supposed to break the contract, were brought to their knees and humiliated.

    • Twisted Metal from PS1 came to PC’s with the Windows 95 operating system.

Horizon Zero Dawn was released on STEAM and EPIC GAMES STORE.

    • It seems you don’t understand how Major League baseball (or any other sports such as FIFA) licensing works.
Sony Interactive Entertainment and Sony Corporation doesn’t own Major League Baseball themselves.
They were originally given a limited license to produce MLB games under 1st party console exclusive license by MLB (which means they can only produce it under their own systems) while 2K had 3rd party console exclusive license (which means they can produce games on multiple systems) up until MLB 2K13 before 2K decided not to renew their 3rd party exclusive license.
When SIE’s first party license was about expire after MLB The Show 19 (2019), 2K was no longer making MLB games since 2013 so the option for first party exclusive is no longer there since there’s no competitor with a 3rd party exclusivity and attempting to “break contract” would mean no MLB games since MLB is the one that gives game publishers license.

  • It should of been Roberto Clemente.

I hate to say. I been a MLB the show supporter since 2008 and i lossed a lot of Faith in San Degio Studio they need to make some major changes there the best MLB the Show 16 because of the hitting.
    The current hitting is trash.
And when you add XBox and PC you gonna have modder ruin game.

  • The game is $70 on Xbox. I will wait for Game Pass lol

    • To be on Game Pass requires that Sony agrees as a publisher to allow it with a special deal along with it. It is not a decision that Microsoft can make freely, but they will probably ask and make an offer though. Still it’s up to Sony in the end with the final decision.

  • Disappointed that Sony chose XBOX to be the first console to break to multiplat. There are more PC and Switch players than XBOX players, but I understand that Baseball is mostly “an American sport” and since the XBOX majority user base is in the US they focused on that market. But baseball also has a huge following on Japan, Taiwan, Venezuela, Panama, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic and Mexico, where they have centennial long professional leagues. My disappointment relies on my expectation of playing this game on a handheld again since they no longer make a Vita version, I was hoping to buy a Switch version alongside my PlayStation version. Hopefully, next year. XBOX players will finally enjoy a really good baseball simulation video game for the very first time because 2K’s was a joke as a simulator and the rest were lame arcade games. Sad that I have to wait two more months to play it.

    • They’re not gonna put it on a Nintendo system until they make a much more powerful console to be able to run the game. There’s a reason they stopped making a vita version. And they probably won’t make PC version due to them not having the patience to implement a robust anticheat and to ban hackers all day.

    • First of all Baseball is a worldly sport. Second, PC has too many would be hackers that will destroy the integrity of the game. Switch is cool but probably won’t get it because of how Nintendo is, another reason Switch might not get it is system strength. People should be grateful that it’s on Xbox as well, Sony could have just given you all the middle finger. Everyone just stop acting like you know things and enjoy the damn game.

  • How much will this hurt the game, porting the engine down to the garbage ddr3/eSRAM bottleneck Xbone………….. in 2021, let alone how much it would have hurt it in 2013 lol???

  • Is the 4K hdr xbox exclusive?

  • I’m hoping AJ Hinch Detroit Tigers manager’s name won’t be used in the game. He’s was suspended for sign stealing with the Houston Astros. It’s a deal breaker for me.

  • So it’s finally confirmed

  • I hope that the PC version can also be taken into consideration. Many PC players also hope to be able to play this game on the PC platform.

Why is there no pc version of mlb the show 21? Many PC players also hope to be able to play mlb the show 21 on the PC platform, so can you consider releasing this game on the PC platform?

  • Can’t wait for this, should be epic.

  • I wonder how many throwback stadiums will be in this one. In the past The Show said the number of old stadiums was cut back because they weren’t used very often and wanted the memory to be allocated elsewhere due to this lack of use. The issue as to why throwback stadiums are hardly used is because the most popular feature of the game – Road to The Show – doesn’t allow you to select a stadium!
