Players’ Choice: Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales voted November 2020’s best new game

Miles swung to the top of the charts, webbing up enough votes to claim the Players' Choice crown for November.

You did it, Miles! Insomniac’s frosty follow-up to Marvel’s Spider-Man made an electric debut on PlayStation 5, besting also-excellent runners up Demon’s Souls, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, and Astro’s Playroom. Congratulations to all these teams, though — what a lineup.

Drop your predictions for December in the comments, and see you in 2021!

Welcome back! This is going to be a tough one. Did your favorite game of November 2020 come from PlayStation 5’s star-studded launch lineup? Or were you taken by one of the many PS4 releases we saw last month? Cast your vote below — we’ll keep the polls open through Sunday night, then tally up the votes and reveal the winner next week.

Oh, and keep your eye on the Blog… Game of the Year voting starts next week!

How does it work? At the end of every month, PlayStation.Blog will open a poll where you can vote for the best new game released that month. Soon thereafter, we’ll close the polls, tally your votes, and announce the winner at PlayStation.Blog. PlayStation Store will also showcase some top Players’ Choice winners throughout the year.

What is the voting criteria? That’s up to you! If you were only able to recommend one new release to a friend that month, which would it be? In keeping with our long tradition in the Game of the Year Awards, remastered or re-released games won’t qualify. Ambitious, larger-scale rebuilds and remakes like Shadow of the Colossus and Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy will.

How are nominees decided? The PlayStation.Blog and PlayStation Store editorial teams will gather a list of that month’s most noteworthy releases and use it to seed the poll. Write-in votes will be accepted.

  • Miles Morales + PS5 = Best Game

  • Astro’s Playroom was the most surprising game. Could not stop playing till platinum, was not expecting to like the game as much as I did.

    • I know right, it one of those hidden gems

    • Agreed, I was suprised how fun this was!

    • ◄ WORK AT HOME ► My last month paycheck was for 11000 dollars… All i did was simple online work from comfort at home for 3-4 hours/day that I got from this agency I discovered over the internet and they paid me for it 95 bucks every hour.. for more info visit tab this site Thanks a lot . • …damn I can’t be a “jerk?” UGH! I would hope that people do not vote for Destiny 2: Beyond Light because that was a horrible update and it shouldn’t be considered as a new game in November since it was actually a content update to an already existing game. It is not a stand-alone title. #FROMSOFTWARE for the win!

  • How do you even pick this with all these good games this past month. I guess I’m going to go Demon’s Souls but I can’t argue with Astro, Spider-Man, The Pathless, Yakuza, or Sackboy winning as well.

    • Sackboy is incredibly underrated, particularly in co op. I had fun getting the platinum. Knitted Knight Ultimate is a real challenge.

  • Where is Astro’s Playroom?

  • Miles morales is probably one of the best games I’ve played in a while! I feel like the story was a bit too predictable with revealing identities and that’s why I think spider man ps4 was a bit better for the story. Miles movement is really solid and I love the look of miles, the city and his nee suits overall really good game!!

    • New* I hate autocorrect lol

    • Yeah same I love the game SO MUCH! it is really good and his swinging and suits

    • I completely agree, great game but EXTREMELY predictable. I knew as soon as characters came on what their roles would be, even when it wasn’t explicitly told right away. Really though, you didn’t have that in Spider-Man ps4? Doc ock? Norman Osborn? These are all established villains. I figured one of the would definitely be the final boss from the start

    • I agree that game gotta be one of the best all of this year

  • DEMON’S SOULS. Umbasa.

    • I have not yet played demons souls but I do love me some dark souls and bloodborne so I voted for it knowing it will probably be awesome. If I didn’t vote demons souls I would have picked destiny 2 beyond light tho

    • Demon’s Souls is the highest rated game on the list and best rated Soulsborne of all time. 92 Metacritic.

  • I do enjoy voting

  • The song of astro’s was awesome, i sing it all day!!!

  • Originally I went with Spider-Man: Miles Morales but Astros play world gives you the ability to experience all of the features of the new controller and it blew me away. It’s very enjoyable and grabs your attention to want to see what’s next

    • Similar. Originally had AC Valhalla because I spent the most time with it in November. (Still playing through the remaster of Spiderman before I tackle Miles.) But then I remembered that Astro’s is the game I boot up every time I want to show off the Ps5. It’s the only game my wife or my gaming buddy has tried yet on the Ps5. Truly something different

  • Yakuza: Like A Dragon is too good for someone to miss out on. It’s a FANTASTIC game and everyone should give it a try!

  • Demon’S Souls is a fantastic Remake of the classic game and the only true next Gen imo so far

    • It’s a PS3 title that could be played on the PS3, so it can’t be.

A “true” next gen game would be something with gameplay that wouldn’t be possible on the PS4 or 3.

Might have to wait a while for that.

  • allow us to use the dualshock 4 on ps5 games so i can actually play demons souls………

  • Spider man. NBA 2k21 looks amazing on ps5! so does days gone and RdR2, holy cow!!! Early vote cyberpunk 2077 will be December’s game!

  • Easily Miles Morales. A 10/10

  • Demons Souls

would be better in native 1440p

  • I would love to vote Miles Morales, but I haven’t played it.

  • Demon’s Souls deserves more attention for sure. Graphics and gameplay are both incredible. Spider-Man Miles Morales was a great game but doesn’t hold a candle to Demon’s Souls gameplay depth and replayability.

  • Sackboy: A Big Adventure is a very good platformer that takes place in the LittleBigPlanet universe. But, I can understand that people’s opinions are different from my own, so I won’t be bothered if anyone voted another game.

  • Haven’t played most of them but out of the ones I played Valhalla is easily the best. Might the best Assassin’s Creed of all time.

  • Assassin’s Creed Valhalla👌

  • Assassin’s Creed Valhalla❤️👌

  • Thought month, I went with SP Miles Morales. Too many good were out in November

  • I would have to have a PS5 to be able to justify voting on this list, so I won’t unless I can manage to get one before the poll closes. That said, based on my PS3 and PS4 experiences, it would probably end up being Demon’s Souls because the original game still holds up to this day.

  • “This is going to be a tough one.”

You don’t say!? Seriously! Jeez, I’m torn between Spider-Man Miles Morales and Astro’s Playroom. Complete different types of games, but both incredibly fantastic though. I’m usually more inclined to go with story driven games like SMMM, but Astro’s Playroom sets the tone for what the DualSense is capable of so well, and was such a surprise and exceeded expectations in such a unique way… I think my vote has to go with Astro’s! But SMMM is a close second for me.

  • Astro’s Playroom (voted) + Demon’s Souls

  • The correct choice is clearly demons souls.

But Miles and Astro are really close second. I would probably put Astro at #2 because it’s new, really clever, has the polish of a Mario game, and knows not to overstay its welcome.

  • It’s not really fair to have all games on PS4 but then expect a ps5 exclusive to have a chance to win. Demon souls was the best game but only .000000000007% of the world can play it.

  • Voted for Demon’s souls because Bluepoint did a fantastic job of updating the title without losing its core.
But I agree that Astro was also really well done and blew me away with how good of a game it was even as a pack in. Spider-man was also great, though I haven’t finished that just yet.

  • Demon souls has WAY more replay value then miles morales Spider-Man, even tho miles morales is a good game I have to give it to demon souls

  • Per me assassin’s creed valhalla PS5 è il migliore

  • Astro’s Playroom a great, small but big on fun game.

  • I am whole heartedly expecting spiderman-peter parker and black cat!
it is like a fantacy to be exact, if black cat and peter parker have missions together, saving eachother , sentiment and love-talks it would be very engaging and emphatic yes to play on PS5! I am really hoping to be this!!

  • Soul of the mind, key to life’s ether. Soul of the lost, withdrawn from its vessel. Let strength be granted, so the world might be mended. So the world might be mended.

  • Everything about this game is amazing. I loved every second of it. Even though Spider-Man: Miles Morales wasn’t able to reach the same level as Spider-Man PS4 but it is a great experience to play. I highly recommend it. Hopefully, I try out Astro’s Playroom, Demon’s Souls, and Sackboy: A Big Adventure because I heard many great things about them.

  • AC Valhalla!

  • If you need to play two games on this list, play Demon’s Souls twice.

  • Watch dogs legion for me.

  • Astro’s Playroom is one of my favorite games of the year. Such a brilliant time, my only complaint is that it ended so fast.

  • For me the game that made me smile the most in November was Astro! What an experience, and what a soundtrack!!

  • Demon’s Souls the best!

  • Ok for true ps5 games which for now is only Astro and Demon souls, every other has a ps4 version. Demon is great as it was back in the day way better than I expected, but I would say Astro has my vote, that game is short but it was a great experience. Looking forward to have more coming out of Astro.

  • Demon’s Souls deserve to win. One of the best games of the year and don’t eve have a VGA nomination… It deserves to win at least here!

  • Spider-man Miles Morels

    • Spider-man Miles Morales was a great launch game. It was a little short, but enough to keep me going until the Spider-man sequel is released. Oh, and the ray-tracing on PS5 looks incredible on the New York skyline!

  • i’ve been spending most of my time on my ps5 on demon’s souls, but astro’s playroom was such a great surprise. both my girlfriend and I have loved playing through it and the speed runs keep us coming back. if there was a full game we’d snatch it up in a heartbeat.

  • Wow…..Demon’s Soul’s…..should be game of the year too

  • Miles Morales, that was an amazing experience from beginning to end, that had me tearing up a bit by the end.

  • Astros playroom has really shined bringing a really enjoyable experience showing off the haptic control mechanisms with top resolution graphics just look at the details of the ps eye camera and the ps4 that just look amazing in detail the colours are fantastic the game play is great fun. It gets my vote I’m looking forward to the future games on ps5 which is still miles away from its full potential.
