Share of the Week: The Next Generation

Share of the Week gets a fresh new look just in time for PS5.

PS5 is here, and with it comes a new way to capture your unforgettable moments in gaming: the Create button. To celebrate, we’ve given Share of the Week a bit of a makeover, with a new logo and updated submission hashtag, opening up our weekly highlight series to welcome a new generation of players. Starting this week PS5 and PS4 players can submit their best entries to Share of the Week using the hashtags #PSshare #PSBlog. Before we kick things off with the latest theme, let’s dive into how PS5 players can use the Create button to capture and share their best moments in gaming.

Capture

At any point while playing on PS5, tap the Create button on the DualSense wireless controller. Immediately players are given the option to take a screenshot or start a new video recording. Just play through an epic sequence or nail that perfect move only to miss the chance to capture it? Have no fear, there’s a third capture option that allows players to view and save anywhere from the past 15 seconds to 60 minutes of gameplay. Never miss out on bragging rights again.

From this menu players can customize certain controls like recording resolution and screenshot format. Screenshots can be set to JPG or PNG, while video can be set to WebM (most efficient) or MP4 format (most compatible), in either 1080p or 4K. Resolution can be adjusted from 1920×1080 or 3840×2160. Once a clip has been recorded, it can be further edited by trimming the length or selecting a cover photo. Make sure to check HDR settings as well, as they sometimes affect the look of captured content.

Share

Ready to submit to Share of the Week? Open up the Media Gallery to share the most recently captured shot, or to browse and share previously saved captures. Once selected, hit the share option, write in a caption (don’t forget the hashtags!), and publish directly to a linked Twitter or YouTube account. It’s that easy! Players can also download creations directly from the Media Gallery using a USB to Twitter and Instagram manually.
