Share of the Week: The Next Generation

Share of the Week gets a fresh new look just in time for PS5.

PS5 is here, and with it comes a new way to capture your unforgettable moments in gaming: the Create button. To celebrate, we’ve given Share of the Week a bit of a makeover, with a new logo and updated submission hashtag, opening up our weekly highlight series to welcome a new generation of players. Starting this week PS5 and PS4 players can submit their best entries to Share of the Week using the hashtags #PSshare #PSBlog. Before we kick things off with the latest theme, let’s dive into how PS5 players can use the Create button to capture and share their best moments in gaming.

Capture

At any point while playing on PS5, tap the Create button on the DualSense wireless controller. Immediately players are given the option to take a screenshot or start a new video recording. Just play through an epic sequence or nail that perfect move only to miss the chance to capture it? Have no fear, there’s a third capture option that allows players to view and save anywhere from the past 15 seconds to 60 minutes of gameplay. Never miss out on bragging rights again.

From this menu players can customize certain controls like recording resolution and screenshot format. Screenshots can be set to JPG or PNG, while video can be set to WebM (most efficient) or MP4 format (most compatible), in either 1080p or 4K. Resolution can be adjusted from 1920×1080 or 3840×2160. Once a clip has been recorded, it can be further edited by trimming the length or selecting a cover photo. Make sure to check HDR settings as well, as they sometimes affect the look of captured content.

Share

Ready to submit to Share of the Week? Open up the Media Gallery to share the most recently captured shot, or to browse and share previously saved captures. Once selected, hit the share option, write in a caption (don’t forget the hashtags!), and publish directly to a linked Twitter or YouTube account. It’s that easy! Players can also download creations directly from the Media Gallery using a USB to Twitter and Instagram manually.

  • Thanks! This will be great to do with the PS5 that is out of stock everywhere!

    • Fantastic, let’s keep encouraging positive constructive talking points when sales reflect not of customers, but mostly bots and scalpers. Nice try Sony, losing customers isn’t the way to go, but you did it! Yeah! Let’s get dirty!

  • 4k videos recorded with share are not recognizer by SHAREfactory after yesterday’s update. Had to re-record my video three times because of that. Ended up charging recording settings back to FHD.

  • Ps5 looks AMAMZING I cant wait to get mine but i do have a query and I’m really hoping someone can help. I stream my gameplay on twitch and do ok with bringing in an audience. A big feature for me of my playstation camera on my ps4 pro is it has an “auto cutout” feature. Will this be carried over to the ps5 usingg the ps5 hd camera???

  • I love my ps5 let’s go!!!!!!!!

  • The direct comparison from my PS4 Pro to my PS5 is huge. I feel like I’m beta testing the PS5. Last night I wanted to check new movies on the store only to find that you can not buy or rent movies from the store on PS5 I found this oddly strange that they would cut this from the store. Also the UI is confusing and sometimes just hard to navigate. No custom backgrounds, no folders, and only 9 tabs remain on the quick access screen so if you have more than 9 games you have to search them in your library to play them. PS4’s UI is far better.
