*Planet of the Discounts runs from Friday October 30 until Friday November 20 at 11.59pm GMT/PDT.
Let’s go fishing.
Friday October 28th of what year? :)
Erm nothing for me. Quite fancy hitman 2 when it goes on sale.
I miss wishlist!
+1
It’s coming back apparently.
+1
There are still PS apps with the Wishlist. I use “PS Store DNA”
This sale is not worth a blog or the server space to be posted on your “blog”.
WTH happened to PSN store? Can’t see, sort or choose?
Yep, they utterly destroyed the old, usable website. The new site is complete trash, almost unusable. Whoever is responsible for that hot mess needs to be fired or demoted. I’m embarrassed for Sony.
Pretty much unusable now. I have to sort through endless dlc pages for games I don’t own to find which games are on sale. I agree with yentair, whoever greenlighted this needs to be demoted.
One good thing about the last store “upgrade” is it’s basically impossible for Sony to make the store worse now.
Unless they remove the pictures entirely, or don’t allow you to buy games. Or add more massive ads for junky games.
Hmm. Maybe Sony can outdo themselves still.. 😁
There are still PS apps with sorting and stuff. I use “PS Store DNA”
I need something to play while waiting for Cyberpunk. I’ve needed something to distract me for months and I feel like these deals just get worse and worse. Maybe Mafia 2 depending on the price, that I’m sure won’t be discounted enough to play a game I completed years ago. Maybe I could pick up a sims pack but this list is nothing I really want. Where are the deals? I have money burning a hole in my pocket and nothing to spend it on.
Nothing for me, I was expecting Monkey king Dlc to be on sale, it’s ridiculously expensive :/
Same repetitive stuff life two sales before.
Hey but now you have to deal with the complete rubbish web store to access it.
So it’s basically like playing a 10 year old game with a worse interface and less content.
Totally not like a launch title.
Lol I like the name of this sale !
Great! I’ll just check these against my wishlist… oh wait a minute…
:( … I hear that
There are still apps out there with the Wishlist, sorting and stuff. Like “PS Store DNA”
I always used to use my PC to buy games for my PS. This does not apply to the “legacy user” category. Having to wait to go home and turn on my PS4 to have the complete experience (browsing games plus my wishlist) is a major momentum breaker and discourages the buyer. Is there any guy from your marketing team that gets feedback from these comments or not? Shame that you reached the top in this generation only to make bad moves in the next one.
I’m in the same boat. It was handy to browse the store on PC while I worked, add items to my wishlist, “purchase” free themes & avatars & add-ons. Even start downloading a game to my PS4 was handy. The new store is a disgrace. Like, 10 steps backwards. Jeez.
Let me quickly look at my wishlist to see what’s on sale now. Oh, wait, no more wishlist! ☹️
I SERIOUSLY don’t know what you guys were thinking when you removed that feature from the store.
You also removed the ability to order games by title, price, etc and to filter games by certain criteria. In short: you’ve made the store worse 👎
+1
Fire the person responsible and fix it…🎉
You can’t even browse through legacy content (PS1/PS2/PS3/PSP/Vita) anymore. Must be an early April 1st joke.
I can’t really see myself buying any digital games in the next few months.
There’s loads of games I really want, but scrolling through pages and pages doesn’t make me eager to try.
Also this new system has basically buried all but the new releases.
We can no longer sort the games. (wth?)
What’s with those huge banners? Are they really necessary?
I can no longer check my balance by simply clicking on my avatar. Have to go to account settings, be redirected no Sony’s website and only there I can check my wallet.
When I clicked a game on the old store, besides the game info I could see the associated DLCs. Now I can only see the different editions. And the thumbnails for each one of them are absolutely huge, why is that?
It’s also a shame that PS3 games were removed from the webstore.
Am I missing something on the account/store config that could help avoid any of those?
(for the 3rd time, why are the images so gigantic?)
No game title below the icon, only price. Wow. They dropped atomic bomb equivalent of Fup bomb
I’d love to check out the sale, but the store is a nightmare to browse now. Whoever designed and greenlit the new store design needs to be transferred to the janitorial staff. Issues off the top of my head:
– No way to filter DLC out of categories
– Doesn’t tell you if a listing _is_ DLC rather than a full game
– No screenshots on game pages
– No wish list
– Huge elements taking up too much space on the screen
– so much wasted space that is glaringly white
– no way to sort searches
– Removal of older console games is ridiculous (make a legacy console area separate from the main store if you want to avoid the clutter)
– Site is neglecting that I own games, listing many I have as available to purchase
– No forums or proper support area to actually voice these complaints in an appropriate setting.
Honestly, imagine going into a department store and having a bunch of pushy salesmen at the front door telling you what they think you should buy, and when you try to find anything else, all the rest of the stores product is in five or six giant piles of mixed product on the floor that you have to sift through in the hopes of finding what you want, much less anything that might catch your eye. All the while with super bright lights shining in your face on every available surface.
That’s how the PS store feels to browse now.
What an amazingly inept store design you’ve pulled off. How many committee meetings did it take to decide a wishlist and sort function were no longer needed? Sure, it’s standard online store functionality but let’s be bold. Let’s be unique and make the online store for Playstation a messy experience. Success!
+++1 So right.
Next step is no pictures and it’s all just a big list of links.
Then the final step is remove the ability to buy.
Weird it only takes 2 more minimal steps to make the store completely pointless. 😁
The removal of the shops wish list, sorting and filtering options probably came from the same person, who thought combining the EU and US blog would be a great idea. Seriously, put these functions back in please, what a mess this is right now. 🤦
It really sucks. Missing my wishlist for sure.
The worst thing about the new blog is the ability for people to put any kind of reaction to anything, meaning problems have no venue to be sorted or even recognized.
So it’s just become an echo chamber for the few that love everything that Sony does regardless of how terrible it is.
This kind of junk would be buried in 🙄 scores if things were how they should be.
This lame sale and the new store design tell the same thing: You just don’t care anymore.
Lol, they absolutely don’t! It’s all about the PS5 now!
Out of this world discounts….. Why lie. I’m embarrassed for you looking at the prices.
Instead of repeating the same sales over and over again on PS4 games, why not give us some sales on PS3 and Vita games? There are only 2 Vita games in this entire sale, and that is only because they are crossbuy. There are plenty of games on the PS3 and Vita which have not been on sale for OVER A YEAR.
Monthly or weekly Vita sales
It’s time
Even if we’d get a sale on legacy games (probably never), you won’t be able to browse through them. Any add-on, game, demo that isn’t for the PS4/PS5 won’t show up on the browser Ps Store or the in-app Ps Store. They shot theirselves in the foot.
Where is the wishlist in the store?
They removed it unfortunately
I keep hoping Vane would get a discount on PSN. ^-^
More like “Errors and lack of features invade PlayStation Store!”. Some genius removed useful features and now I get “$Error. Please Reload$”. Are you trying to kill your brand?
Seriously…what were they thinking…this is a company that is about to release a new console…I’m thinking release is going to be anything but smooth…
Everytime they try to bring something new they manage to make it worse, but this takes the cake.
It’s amusing that on the verge of releasing an all digital console they release the worst digital store known in the entirety of human history.
😂
True that MiseryPrincess.
Digital Only console on its way: no more wishlist, removal of legacy content outside of their on-console stores, an incredibly bright theme, browsing is worse than Epic Game Store’s…
If this was a PSP/PS3 era experiment that would be fine, but Sony’s acting like they just saw The Producers and are hoping that scuttling their project in every conceivable way will have similar results.
Put back PS3 games discounts please including Deus Ex Human Revolution Director’s Cut and Tomb Raider Underworld.
They don’t give a flying damn about the PS Store anymore, let alone PS2/PS3/PSP and Vita titles!
Since you’ve had repeat sales of Sims 4 dlc,Warface & Warhammer DLC,& Skyforge which have been all on offer through the year multiple times, added in Trains Sims DLC not to mention sub-par titles like DayZ,maybe I can suggest some alternative titles:
TIMESPINNER (Released Oct. 2018), according to Chucklefish/Indie Dev,”for reasons beyond their control”,the EU/Aussie PSN has yet to see this title get a discount, unlike the U.S. store-until this gets addressed,no sale since launch in this territory-been on sale other formats
Cursed Castilla- (Rel. Feb 2017) Last PSN Sale August 2018
Super Hydorah- (Rel. Dec. 2017) Only PSN Sale Aug. 2018
Shantae & the Pirates Curse- (Rel.April 2016) Last PSN Sale June 2017
Shantae Half Genie Hero- (Rel.Dec 2016) Ultimate Edition (Rel. May 2018)- Only PSN Sale June 2018
Ghost 1.0 (Rel.July 2019)- Only Sale Oct. 2019
Battle Princess Madelyn- (Released Oct./Nov 2019 EU PSN,Nov. 2018 U.S. PSN)- No PSN Sale since launch
Blazing Chrome- (Released July 2019)- No PSN Sale since launch
Castle Crashers Remastered- (Rel.Oct. 2019)-No PSN Sale since launch
River City Girls- (Released Sept. 2019)- No PSN Sale since launch period when it had a 10% discount
Xeno Crisis-(Rel. Oct. 2019)- No PSN discount since launch (Recently did receive crossbuy PS Vita version though)
Afterparty- (Rel. Nov. 2019)- No PSN Sale since launch
Virtually all the above listed indies have received multiple Steam,GOG,Eshop,XB related sales in recent months let alone the past year. Yet for these repetitious PSN sales Nathan I can nominate 7 indie games here that have NEVER had a single PSN sale & some are well past a year old let alone TWO in the case of TIMESPINNER!
Let alone another five from my non-existent wishlist that haven’t had a PSN sale in 2-3 YEARS!! Again, these titles have all had recent sales this year on other formats Nathan!
If anyone ever bothers reading these comments, please start mixing up the variety of your sales!
When you see the same old DLC/AAA titles every other sale as the best you can manage in a supposed 4000+ PS4 titles available, whilst other PS4 games have gone YEARS,or NEVER had a single sale,it’s downright embarrassing!
These are just a few from my wishlist,it’d be interesting to see others post examples of their wishlists too!
But sadly, they removed the wish list feature, so I guess … Out of sight, out of mind. If you don’t know the title name, you can’t even do a proper search anymore, there are no genres, filters or sorting functions of any kind, but if nobody remembers all these titles, there are no more complaints about the same old sales titles. LOL
Why are no prices shown?
OMG…the Store front via web browser simply stinks…fire the person responsible and fix it…bring back the wishlist…for a company that has been around as long as Sony…it’s almost like they have zero business sense…
Yeah, the new store is borderline painful. Obviously the wishlist being gone stinks, but then there is no text for the game titles, you cannot sort or filter in any way… its just brutal to try and navigate around.
I guess I’m just going back to buying physical? Haha.
Claim your vr adapter people search psvr adapter and the playstation support page will show you then input the serial number of the vr and your address and they send you it
I posted a message with the link but for some reason it doesn’t show
In the chance that the Sony Social Media/PR team monitors the comment sections of these posts, and has the ability to confer with developers/studios/publishers about the future possibility of placing their games on sale, here’s a list of some items that were in my wishlist (before the functionality was removed):
Below (sale on pre-order only, released April 2020)
Eastshade (never been on sale, released 2019)
Everything (sale on pre-order only, released March 2017)
Far: Lone Sails (last on sale October 2019)
Heaven’s Vault (sale on pre-order only, released April 2019)
Little Misfortune (never been on sale)
Overland (last on sale January 2020)
Q.U.B.E. 2 (never been on sale, released 2018)
Return of the Obra Dinn (last on sale February 2020)
River City Girls (last on sale January 2020)
Runner 3 (last on sale July 2019)
Sunless Sea: Zubmariner Edition (last on sale December 2019)
Tumbleseed (never been on sale, released 2017)
The Turing Test (never been on sale, released 2017)
Va-11 Hall-A: Cyberpunk Bartender Action (never been on sale, released 2019)
Besides the list above, there are a few more that have gone on sale more frequently or just recently released, yet haven’t hit my purchase point yet. Those remaining, in no particular order:
Arise: A Simple Story
Fell Seal: Arbiter’s Mark
Ghostrunner
Kentucky Route Zero
Knights and Bikes
Lonely Mountains Downhill
Mutazione
My Friend Pedro
Spelunky 2
Spiritfarer
Telling Lies
Void Bastards
I’m guessing there are probably others with similar lists of games that have received infrequent sales, who also get tired wading through what seems to be the same lists of games every few months (hello, Ubisoft). That said, perhaps if more people produced these types of lists on a regular basis, it might eventually catch the attention of those who can collaborate with the relevant studios/devs, so that they can earn some money on games seemingly forgotten/abandoned.
Finally, for those who are missing the wishlist functionality on the PS Store, I would recommend looking at psprices.com and possibly creating a free account. If you do so, you can then ‘like’ games, which can then be viewed in a wishlist-like fashion (under the Account drop-down menu). Additionally, you can also request the site to send you email notifications when game(s) go on sale. On each game’s page, there’s also a pricing history of the game too, so you can make the best decision based on previous pricing/price point. Definitely handy for the cost-conscious gamer. I’ve also found that browsing the new/weekly sales are far easier there than having to deal with all the themes/avatars/add ons that muddy up the sale pages on the console PS Store. Just a thought/offering for those currently frustrated.
Thanks for the input buddy.
Whoever decided on the store redesign should be fired. It looks amateurish, it’s impossible to find anything, and is an eyesore. Every time there’s a sale, I visit the store through my browser and browse. It was AMAZING before. Now, I immediately give up due to frustration. If this was a “cost-cutting” decision, it was a bad area to cut.
I’ll join the choir to say the new store is awful. Why was it even launched lacking so many basic features like a sort function? I don’t want to browse through pages of DLC to find new games.
The updated PS web store is awful. You can’t filter anything, takes forever to load, UI is awful, navigation is awful, lack of text / descriptions is awful. This ACTUALLY looks a more awful version of the bland vanilla Xbox games page now. THIS IS A DOWNGRADE, NOT AN UPGRADE!! I’m furious!!!
I second this. Removing this much functionality is not acceptable, especially with how bare-bones it is now.
How can you continually break your own store? It is the same thing as when PS4 was close to launch. And it took years to get to a usable state!
Store is awful design. No sort, no filter no visualisation options. Are you still using your old broken database where a lot of games have no classification so they are hidden? Near impossible to search for anything outside recent AAA games.
Come one, you are a multi-billion dollar corporation. Please hire someone with actual knowledge to write your site!
It’s funny how Sony can mess up something so essential to sales over and over. The old store was slow and out-dated looking, but at least it let you just browse for games to buy!
They overdid themselves big time…
Browse the store in my PS4 is a pain. Now the web store is complete fucked with bugs and lack of basic stuff (DLC under the game page, whishlist, Screenshot, Better img size, sorting stuff, etc).
Now I have to use psprices to check promos and Android (The one that can somewhat still be good) to buy stuff. u.u
btw my 80+ titles in the witshlist has gone, I was slowly buying them when they go on sales. Now I don’t really care. I really wish Atlus would realese more stuff in other consoles so I could stop buying this censorship console. Being a JRPG player is suffering.
btw the store is now really incluse to near blind people. It’s really impossible to don’t see a game cover that cover half of the screen.
Hi,
Will there be updates to the PlayStation Store soon? It’s quite difficult to navigate (i.e. it’s not user-friendly). The seemingly excessive white-space and the wideness of the stores’ pages (maybe that’s just my computer, but I can always scroll slightly to the right when I have the misfortune of visiting the store), the complete lack and opacity of the sorting in the pages, the complete lack of filtering makes it needlessly difficult to find the games I want (the curated pages aren’t enough and you’re missing genres like Puzzle), lacking plain-text titles makes it so I’d have to look at every picture on every page to find the games I want, lacking pictures and videos on the individual games’ pages, and there are multiple entries for multiple games (see Ultratron, Ultrawings, Uncanny Valley, and many more) with many more pet peeves unlisted.
As an example of the horrible structure, let’s say “Ultra Hat Dimension” is the perfect game for me but I don’t know it yet. The quickest way to get to the game as far as I can tell, without manipulating the URL, would be to go to all PS4 games, then click to page 90. But let’s look at it from the perspective of a rational customer. Looking through the sales takes about 10 clicks. It’s probably not in New Games, so there’s nothing left in the “Latest” tab for us and we’ll continue to Collections (+ 1 click). I have to look in Monthly Picks (+1 click). There’s not much left except maybe “PlayStation Indies”, but it’s not in there. Our last stop before the last resort is the “Kids & Family” collection (because there’s no Puzzle group!), which adds 4 clicks to no avail. Now, we have to click through about 90 pages in order to find Ultra Hat Dimension. That’s 106 clicks to get to the perfect game. Of course, this method has some flaws to it, but it makes me think how absurd it is that people thought this store was ready for release.
I apologize if this sounds angry, I’m really not, I’m just frustrated that a mediocre store got worse. This Store update makes the best PlayStation Store the one on the PS4…. that crashes relatively easily.
Best wishes,
moyer522
I’m curious as to when they’re gonna redeem themselves by fixing this “joke” of an overhaul.
So I guess these sales aren’t on the app store anymore? Not coming up, but when you individually search for a game from the list the price is reflected. Any help?
Not a fan of the redesigned PS Store. There’s no filtering of games anymore, just the basic few categories that lump every game into one place. For example; if I want to browse PS4 games, the only way to do it is to view ALL PS4 games in order of newest first. Also, not having a Wishlist is really annoying! This is a huge step backwards in terms of functionality!
All games in sale are PS4. But there are still apps out there with such a filtering, sorting and stuff. Like “PS Store DNA”
Do you know what would be even better? If a STORE (!) actually showed prices so I could actually see the benefit of any of your discounts. The new store could be the worst re-design in the history of online stores
My friends, the update to the ps store was crap, sorry.
It’s official for me now…if the store is going to remain like this…the huge pile of junk Sony has built in place of an actual functioning Store front…there’s no way I’m buying a PS5 at launch or this year at all…if they don’t know how to design a store then I have lost faith in their ability to build a new console…
Everyone is going on about the store being bad and stuff but I love this new app
Nice to see the list is in alphabetical order on the blog.
Next can you please add a way to sort, order, filter on the webstore, restore wishlist, add screenshots and videos, show PS3/P/Vita games, cross-buy, change that glaring white background, and basically redo the store please? It’s horrible. Not user friendly at all. Deters me from browsing or buying.
Too bad its hard to see what to buy.
Just keep it simple like PSPrices.com no need to get all banner colorful artful frenzy.
Is their another sale after “Planet of the discount”? or is this the last sale for ps4?
