Thank you guys so much for supporting our first expansion of Nioh 2, The Tengus’s Disciple. We’ve been hard at work to bring you the next exciting chapter in the Nioh 2 saga, and I’m happy to announce today that the second DLC pack, titled Darkness in the Capital will be available on October 15!

Nioh 2

Without further ado, let’s get into the new details for the brand-new quest awaiting all of our warriors. Darkness in the Capital features new storylines, overwhelmingly powerful new bosses, tricky new Yokai, new Guardian Spirits, skills, Ninjutsu, Onmyo Magic and Soul Cores. And to top it all off, this new chapter will present electrifying new armor sets and a weapon that fans of hand-to-hand combat will surely relish.

Nioh 2

Now I’d hate to leave you guys completely in the dark on this upcoming DLC expansion. So, let me throw out some clues and story details to give you a taste of what’s on the horizon for this next installment.

In order to unravel the mysteries surrounding the history of the Sohayamaru, our protagonist ventures to Kyoto City and discovers a shrine furnished with an old worn-out box. Upon inspection, the Sohayamaru once again shines brilliantly and the protagonist is whisked away to the middle of the Heian Period, landing in an ancient version of the capital.

Contrary to its name “Heian Palace,” which means peace and tranquility, ancient Kyoto was terrorized by countless Yokai during this time period. However, there existed many heroes who were brave enough to oppose these demons. Among them were the most preeminent demon slayer and the strongest sorcerer in history, along with their subordinates and colleagues fighting at their side.

Our protagonist joins forces with these famous heroes in order to quell the unrest and destruction caused by the Yokai hordes, while learning more about the connections between an even more distant past and the present time period from which they came.

Well, there you have it. A brief overview of what’s to come. Please be on the look-out for more exciting details in the near future as we hope to shed even more light on Darkness in the Capital. Until that time, best of luck battling all of the fearsome Yokai in the Tengu’s Disciple and crafting a unique build that best suits your own playstyle. As many of you are well aware, you’ll need every advantage you can get to take on the menacing enemies lurking in the distant past. So, stay strong and stay safe out there samurai!

*Nioh 2 required to play The Tengu’s Disciple and Darkness in the Capital (both sold separately or as part of the Nioh 2 Season Pass).

  • That sounds great! Will we be getting the Abyss again?

  • Please raise the ninjutsu and onmyo caps. You have a plethora of options but can’t use much. It was 40 in Nioh 1, right? Raise Nioh 2 to 40.

I apppreciate how extensive first DLC is, so I’m hoping for similar playability in remaining DLC.

  • Great job Team ninja Thanks guys.
    Looking forward to this DLC.

  • Great …I hope this will be longer than the last dlc tengu disciple …and better looking gear I wish they add the last great general gear from nioh 1 back in that was a sick looking gear and great perks to.

  • I can’t wait to play Nioh 2 on PS5 :D

  • I hope you guys either have a PS5 version planned or some improvements for our current version. Looking forward to the next DLC.

  • Sony published, PS4 exclusive. Playstation deserves more credit for Nioh, the best none From Soft Souls-like ever.

Playstation really is thee place for this genre. November 12 will see the best Souls game yet coming exclusively to PS5. Good times. Can’t wait to see Shrine of Storms, Archstone 6, Latria and more.

  • Im ready!

  • I want to see this hand to hand weapon.

    • Guessing it’ll probably be a Nunchaku. Popular martial arts weapon and it would have its own unique move set. That or maybe a Sai. Another traditional martial arts weapon that would be cool I guess. Would be fast like the Tonga but maybe they could incorporate a throwing attack kind of like the hatchets. Just spitballing here.

    • One of the weapons are the falcons talons

  • Oh man so excited for this. Just got into nioh a month ago, got platinum for nioh2 just this week. Am ready. Being a souls chick, this was a nice refreshing keep me busy as we await elden ring and demons souls.

  • Shouldn’t take all bloody year. Quit dragging it out and release the rest of the DLC. After EDF5, I refuse to buy games until the DLC is all available. The English version of EDF5 had all the DLC built into the game but D3Publisher held back the unlocks for 3+ months. They tried the same BS with the PC release, but it was cracked and unlocked on day one.

  • Can you guys bring back the izuna drop or some ninja gaiden weapons again!! Or some Hayabusa ultimate techniques? Or some new grapple moves for all the weapons? I’m hyped for whats to come.

  • Got back into Nioh 2 recently, cant wait for the expansion. I feel like if the yasakani magatama could be dropped on finishing New game and balance out RNG, it would make new game and new game plus much more enjoyable and less of a GRIND fest; especially for new players i feel.
