Erica and Man of Medan claim the runner-up spots.
Congratulations, Remedy! Director Jesse Faden’s journey into the unknown resonated with voters, earning Control the title of Best New Game for August 2019.
Flavourworks’ ambitious live-action thriller Erica took the runner-up spot, with the first entry in Supermassive’s Dark Pictures Anthology, Man of Medan, rounding out the top three.
What are your predictions for September’s poll? With games like Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, NBA 2K20, and Borderlands 3 launching before we’re even halfway through the month, it’s gonna be an interesting one.

That’s right, dear reader: it’s votin’ time. Support your favorite game of the past month — all it takes is a click in the poll below. We’ll close it off at 11:59pm Pacific on September 8, so get your picks in before then. Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments and see if you can sway the undecided to your cause. I know what I’m voting for, but I’ll never tell…
September’s looking good, too! What do you think will make the cut for our next poll?
What is the voting criteria? That’s up to you! If you were only able to recommend one new release to a friend that month, which would it be? In keeping with our long tradition in the Game of the Year Awards, remastered or re-released games won’t qualify. Ambitious, larger-scale rebuilds and remakes like Shadow of the Colossus and Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy will.
How are nominees decided? The PlayStation.Blog and PlayStation Store editorial teams will gather a list of that month’s most noteworthy releases and use it to seed the poll. Write-in votes will be accepted.
