The Drop: New PlayStation Games for March 19, 2019

In FromSoftware's Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, even your own death can be a weapon.

Two excellent ninja games in one week, sweet! But that’s just about the only similarity between these two titles.

FromSoftware’s Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice launches on Friday. Their newest journey is a departure from the Souls-like formula, promising a faster-paced experience than fans have come to expect from the studio — where even your own death can be weaponized.

Meanwhile, Québec-based studio Sabotage is releasing their acclaimed throwback sidescroller The Messenger on PS4 Tuesday, with its sharp, witty writing and tight platforming gameplay in tow. There’s more to this one than you might think…

For a full list of new games coming to PlayStation next week, read on. And enjoy The Drop!

  • This Drop post format does not look good at all with the new design.

    • Justin Massongill

Thanks — any specific feedback about it? We could probably make the thumbnails smaller on desktop…

    • It actually looks fine now. When I came to it first everything was pushed to the left and nothing was bolded. It was all smushed together. Seems fine now.

  • Surprised Blood Waves was a Lovetimes You game. I’m sure it’s Ratalaika’s turn this week. Lol

  • So this is the new format the blog is going to take? Feels a bit empty without the wallpaper. As for me personally I looking forward to Super Robot Wars T coming next week lol

  • Justin,
Is Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 Lite Version coming to US… or just to Japan?

  • Omg holy cow I have kindly asked and begged devolver more than once to bring the messenger to ps4
I have Occasionally left comment on Sony anlincments for psn that I wish we could get the messenger on ps4
My dreams are answered ty insta buy for me I’ll probablt buy it for a friend as well thank you !!

  • Not related, but I don’t see a post for the sale and it’s kinda not related to that too haha, anyway, can Patapon PS4 go on sale at least once, please?
Also, is the announced Patapon 2 for PS4 ever going to be released?

    • I’m starting to think they cancelled Patapon 2 Remastered. Been well over a year now with nothing. The previous PSP remasters were announced and launched within 6-7 months.

  • Sekiro baby Woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

  • I cant believe that with this update, you still can not click on the games image to bring you to the store page or to more info or gameplay footage. You are trying to sell these games to us, right? Id be quite upset if i was one of the companies trying to sell my game through Playstation.

    • What are you talking about? These games aren’t out yet so of course you can’t click on them yet. Go look at the Drop post from last week if you think you can’t click on them anymore.

    • I agree. At the very least a link to a trailer. Just seems common sense. Heck if they were really thinking a link to pre-purchase before release day too. Not a lot of effort put into the post really…. or rather cut and paste effort.

  • Dark mode for this layout would be great.

  • I’d like a way to showcase something unfavorably. The current Heart doesn’t accurate let us articulate this. Even being able to put a broken heart would be better. Currently all we can do is Heart it, showing positivity or nothing. Nothing can be mixed up with people not seeing it so it’s not a good sub for a dislike/broken heart.

I really like the minimalist nature of the blog now. Like others have said an optional dark mode would be good when reading at night or for those that enjoy that format.

I’m getting Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Can’t wait!!

  • I am very happy for The Messenger to finally make its way to PS4! I might also purchase SNK 40th Anniversary Collection if it comes bundled with the additional games which were added to the Switch version as free DLC.

  • Damn the pics take a while to load now and I mean a while, some don’t even load. Also this should be obvious but the Blog now contains too much information scattered all over the place, the previous Blog had everything on a single place in “ORDER” it was simple and easy to find what you were looking for…it’s hard to believe you guys don’t see that.
