High Speed Pinball Game Kabounce Zooms to PS4 May 29

Challenge your friends in a fast-paced multiplayer pinball game where you control the ball.

For those who haven’t heard of Kabounce yet, in short, Kabounce is a fast-paced
multiplayer pinball game where you control the ball. We’re excited to announce that Kabounce will release on May 29!

Arena Pinball

One thing we wanted to ensure was front and center are mechanics that complement each other. In a game all about high-speed visceral bouncing, our movement still needed to be controlled, and eventually mastered. For this purpose we wrote our own physics-based system.

When you first play Kabounce it needed to be easy to pick up. Just bounce around and tag some bumpers, demolish an opponent to ransack their points – and experience a whole different take on pinball. However, once you start mastering the controls you’ll really be flying through the arena, racking up extreme combos and eliminations to multiply your points.

In the arena you’ll compete for the most points in a head-to-head competition of 4 vs. 4, orange vs. blue. When you’re ready to take the game to the next level, you need to balance your greed for points and eliminations with depositing your collected points in the goal – or risk getting destroyed and losing your valuable points. Cooperation is key!

Parkour Challenge Mode

We first tried a Parkour mode as a prototype for players to learn the movement, but we found something there – fun challenges. What started as an idea for a tutorial became a speedrunning-parkour-extravaganza, and then a fully supported core feature of the game.

Players both new and experienced can sink their teeth into Parkour challenges and try to beat their own times, or set global records. Each parkour-style level is short, but challenges players in new ways. You can play these challenges by yourself or with your friends, and if you manage to beat our internal developer times, you’ll receive the purple ‘dev star’ as proof that you’re better than us.

For those of you who often get sidetracked, find shortcuts, or just get to unintended places – we’ve hidden some loot for your pinball around the challenge levels.

Roll in Style

So, are you tired of only having the same old dull, steel pinball? Do you want a pinball that’s ready for the upcoming summer? Perhaps you’re looking for a bit more hair on your …. beachball? Then Kabounce is for you – including all the pinball customization you didn’t know you wanted, but intrinsically always needed in your life.

Okay, we realize we may have overdone it a bit with the customization, but quite honestly, we’ve got some crazy options for you to roll with. At the office, some devs turn it into a sport to make the strangest monstrosities.

So, you may be wondering: how do I get to deck out MY pinball with an afro, orc jaw and the most amazing pair of hippie shades? Simple: play some games, get trophies or play challenges to collect loot balls (which are rewards for you to open at any time and come in four rarities). You can’t buy these absurd looks – it’s gotta be earned.

Additionally, the exclusive ‘Symbols’ trail can be unlocked only on PlayStation.

Thanks for reading, we cannot wait to see you bounce around the arena May 29.

  • With 5 days til launch and pre-order benefits announced, it feels strange that there is no mention of this game (and no option to take advantage of said benefits) anywhere in Sony’s US ecosystem. There is however a countdown to pre-order availability on the EU storefront. Why the disparity and will US customers be availed the extras at no extra cost? We’ve already seen the Wreckfest launch vaporize.
