Players’ Choice: Vote for March 2018’s Best New Game

Far Cry 5, MLB The Show 18, Ni no Kuni II, A Way Out... it's time to cast your vote for the best game of March 2018!

March was a good month for video games, huh? Ambitious co-op adventure A Way Out won many hearts and minds, freewheeling shooter Far Cry 5 somehow topped the madness of prior installments, baseball sim MLB The Show 18 continued to define the genre, and the long-awaited JRPG sequel Ni no Kuni II dazzled. All in all, March’s lineup had something for just about every type of gamer — we even got an excellent new rhythm / music game in DJMax Respect!

But only one of these titles can claim the Players’ Choice crown. We’ve compiled quite the list of nominees, but the final decision lies with you.

You might have noticed this month’s poll is opening a bit later than usual — there’s a good reason for that! We’re gathering a group of editors from PlayStation.Blog and PlayStation Store to decide what their favorite games in the past three months have been. We’ll reveal those Editor’s Choice picks alongside this month’s Players’ Choice winner soon.

Read on for rules and more details, or keep scrolling down to cast your vote. The poll closes at 11:59pm Pacific on Tuesday, April 10!

How does it work? At the end of every month, PlayStation.Blog will open a poll where you can vote for the best new game released that month. Soon thereafter, we’ll close the polls, tally your votes, and announce the winner at PlayStation.Blog. PlayStation Store will also showcase some top Players’ Choice winners throughout the year.

What is the voting criteria? That’s up to you! If you were only able to recommend one new release to a friend that month, which would it be? In keeping with our long tradition in the Game of the Year Awards, remastered or re-released games won’t qualify. Larger-scale rebuilds and remakes like Shadow of the Colossus and Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy will.

How are nominees decided? The PlayStation.Blog and PlayStation Store editorial teams will gather a list of that month’s most noteworthy releases and use it to seed the poll. Write-in votes will be accepted.

  • Far Cry 5 was just more of the same thing so for that reason I voted for A Way Out. That game is really special and being able to let your friends play for free is great. Play it if you haven’t yet.

    • I enjoyed A Way Out but it wasn’t great. I used the controller for maybe 40% of the game and that was mostly to hold down or press a button. It walked you through all the puzzles. The Uncharted Lite parts of the chapters weren’t that fun either. The last 5 minutes of each chapter was where the game was fantastic.

    • A Way Out is IMO the most disappointing game of the year material.
It’s not bad but it lacks in so many ways.
More stuff in the prison would have been great considering the title and all.
The chooses you make don’t mean anything. Save the last choose.
And the last choose is lame and forced.
It is cool for the letting a friend play for free.
Since I was that friend. I would’ve been very upset if I bought this title.

  • Would have to vote Far Cry 5. A Way Out, although good, suffered from some pacing issues as I put the controller down for way too long way too often. Here are some good reviews of both.

  • I believe the game that wins should go on sale

  • Definitely vote Bloodborne released as a Plus free game for March is a Win!

  • Tempest 4000.

  • Ni no Kuni 2 is fantastic, made some big improvements over the first, but still could use some tweaks in my opinion. Far Cry isn’t my style game but I know it is going to take the crown this month, but at least NNK2 is close(ish) behind!

  • A Way Out gets a thumbs down from me because it requires you to play it in a 2 player. What if I don’t want to play with someone else? It looks like it would be a great one player experience. At least let me play with a bot.

    • you seem to misunderstand the game on a fundamental level. it’s clearly not for you. not everything will be.

  • Hmm, I wonder what game will win for April… ;)

  • This one has to go to Far Cry 5 or Ni No Kuni 2. I vote Far Cry 5.

  • I have been playing FarCry 5 for a week now. This game is amazing!

  • A Way Out had a great story to tell and a satisfying ending, choices made during the game felt different and unique and both characters had great sections, both together and separate. One of the few games that have made me cry as well.

  • Far Cry 5 for the win.

  • Ni No Kuni II, obviously.

  • A Way Out surprised me. My game of the year so far.

  • I have to go with Ni No Kuni 2. The first game was so good and the second seems to be falling into place nicely as well.

  • My vote goes to Ni No Kuni 2.

  • Farcry 5 hands down.BTW am surprised about the comments here about Way Out….thought the game had good receptions,oh well gotta wait until I play it myself to see what’s up.
