  • The first Final Fantasy with summons was III. But it didn’t see an American release for a long time. The one that we got that was called III is what we now know as VI. Same thing happened with IV which was released as II on SNES. III Is the one Onion Knight in Dissidia is from which is a reference to the job class of the same name in game. Cloud of Darkness is the villain. III didn’t see its first American release until the DS version in 2006 with 3D character models which has since been ported to the PSP and is playable on Vita digitally. These are the only ways you can play the correctly titled version of III in the US legally.

So technically IV would be the first one with summons in America. But III is the first one period.

Fun fact, summons are also referred to as Espers and/or Eidolons depending on the game and which lore it is drawing inspiration from.

  • Any more opportunities we get to hear more about Moss and Quill are fine in my book!
