Vote for your Favorite: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim vs. The Evil Within

You decide what goes on sale next at PlayStation Store!

Brainchild of our friends on the LATAM team, “¡Vota Por Tu Favorito!” launched a few years ago – giving fans the power to choose the next game that would go on sale at PlayStation Store. We loved the concept so much, earlier this year we brought “Vote for Your Favorite” stateside.

Here’s how it works, we match up two different titles, along with their prospective discounts, and give PS Blog readers the sole power to decide which game we’ll set on sale that weekend.

Today, we’re kicking off another edition with The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition vs. The Evil Within Digital Bundle! Only poll votes will be tallied. Comments, tweets or replies on our social posts do not count!

Select your favorite by voting below until Wednesday, August 2, 2017. We’ll announce our winner this Friday, August 4! The winning title will remain on sale through the weekend.

  • Gee…Both great games! But….I gotta go Evil Within. I loved Skyrim, but it’s a buggy mess sometimes. Never played TEW, but with TEW2 coming out, I’m down for jumping in.

If this was Skyrim VR, maybe I’d have reconsidered. :D

  • Love The Evil Within, not even in the Skyrim train

  • The evil within so i can finally buy it before the 2 comes out,

  • While Skyrim is one of my favorite games, which I’ve pumped probably at over fifteen hundred hours into between various PS3 and PS4 playthroughs, I went with Evil Within simply because I don’t own it yet! So it’s not really “vote for your favorite” since we all probably own our favorite already.

    • “Vote for the game you didn’t like enough to buy yet” haha. I went Skyrim so my brother will buy it. I already have both.

  • The Evil Within Digital Bundle!

  • Skyrim! Easily the better and more complete game.

  • I have both games!

  • Seems like the smart move is to vote for the game that is not your favorite, since presumably you already own your favorite.

  • I already own The Evil Within, and never did finish it. I’ve never played Skyrim, and I’m not sure that I will; perhaps the VR version when that comes out. All that to say, I voted for Skyrim.

    • Yea, I haven’t finished Evil Within yet either but I will before playing 2. Skyrim is waayyy longer.. and I have finished it twice. Easy Platinum if you put the time in. Just make sure you Google which choices to make for Daedric quests or you will almost certainly have to re-do them. Honestly I am envious of you never having played it. You get to play it again on a better port than the PS3 version.. which took forever to load as you neared 100%ing the game.

  • Half off of $60 (SIXTY!?! Still??), or even more off of $30.

Math tells me to vote for the one with the more affordable price. Maybe that’s just me.

    • Skyrim: Special Edition was way overpriced, but it hasn’t been 1 year since it was released. It includes all DLC. Evil Within was almost 3 years ago. It too includes all DLC. Skyrim is way overpriced, but for when it came out, it’s pretty normal I suppose. Evil Within is definitely the better buy though, 60% off of $30 vs. 50% off of $60. Especially considering Skyrim (PS4) has been on sale for $30 twice thus far…If I’m not mistaken.

    • Sorry, I still think of Skyrim as a 2011 game – I understand the Special Edition for PS4 hasn’t been out nearly that long, but still…seems too high.

Sony, sweeten the Skyrim deal to 75% off and you might have a sale.

    • Yea, it’s really more for younger gamers who haven’t played it yet, or only found Bethesda Game Studios with Fallout 4 and haven’t yet played their best game. I’d give anything to wipe my memory of Skyrim and play it first time in VR.

    • Yeah, $60 (or even $30) for Elder Scrolls V is comically absurd, especially when you can get it for under $5 on PC, which is the far better place for playing it considering all of the fixes, upgrades, and mods not available on console.

  • the evil within, had fun gameplay but also had one of the most uninteresting stories in a horror game ive ever played. i had to stop not even halfway through. im going with skyrim.

  • I like The Evil Within to a certain extent. They definitely could’ve done better with the game. In a lot of areas it was extremely frustrating and sometimes it just plain ****ed me off. However I did find it to be interesting and for the most part the gameplay was good. The “cinema like” black bars on the upper and lower part of the screen reduced the display which in an already very dark game made it much harder to see what was going on. I haven’t yet decided if I’m going to purchase The Evil Within 2 but if it hasn’t improved of the original I will definitely pass it up. All in all I’d give The Evil Within a 7 out of 10. Skyrim just really never interested me but I would agree that it is a good game in it’s own right. I would have to vote for The Evil Within in this case

  • Evil Within was my #1 most hated game on the PS4… so easy vote for me. Never spent 20$ on a bargain bin game and felt ripped off before.

  • Evil within was like $5.99 a while back in one of the sales. So I say Skyrim!

  • I’m just gonna go ahead a preemptively congratulate Skyrim on its future victory in the sales poll.

But seriously though I’m fine with either one winning. As someone who doesn’t have a gaming PC, a more stable console version of Skyrim interests me greatly, as does the accompanying PS SHARE support. But also as a fan of horror games, The Evil Within is one I’ve been meaning to get around to.

  • What’s the point of voting for either one. You’ve had Skyrim on sale a couple times at $30 which would equal this sale if it wins. I’ve seen Evil Within on sale for $6 and this sale is double that basically. So either vote isn’t any better so it’s not like this is some special sale. Not even close.

    • @HailHale81, Agree with you totally on your observations. It doesn’t feel like much of a special sale at these discounts.

I picked up Skyrim for a better price on Amazon recently. I went to check its current price and it’s unavailable at the moment. So of course I voted for Evil Within, but I doubt I’ll buy it. It’s been discounted even better for PC many times over now.

Although I haven’t spent much time in Skyrim with my PS4 Pro yet, it ran fine and looked great on a 4k display. So if you want something for your PS4 Pro to chew on, Skyrim is a good choice.

    • It’s psychological, if you feel it went on sale because you picked it, you are more likely to get it that week, instead of the usual knowing it will be on sale cheaper later.

  • Thank You for this offer. Evil Within it is. Skyrim is purely a PC game.

  • I got Skyrim: Special Edition for PS4 like 3 months ago for like $15. I also have it for PS3 so there’s a testament to how much i love the game. Never played TEW but it looks ok.

    Basically, I chose Destiny 2.

  • Do us a favor and enable better skyrim mods for ps4 instead

    • Will never happen. You’ve got a better chance at breathing underwater.

    • Treymok, just play as an Argonian haha

    • They have an uchiha mod, maybe you should try that out

    • Ikr, it’s both sonys and bethesdas fault tbh, sony wants them regulated for copy right and console breaking but bethesda won’t do it because they are mods, they’re supposed to have freedom, they work fine on xbox, sony just needs to stop acting like an old grandpa that refuses to get with the times

  • Is the discount off the lowest price found on the web or the over inflated pricing of digital games? BTW 25.97 is the lowest I found for a NEW one online so the sale would be about $10…not bad, not bad at all.

I am going with The Evil Within because the second game will be out soon and I already own Skyrim Special Edition.

  • I voted for Evil Within because it has good rep and I have never played it. I didn’t vote for Skyrim because I have already played it on Xbox 360 and I also already bought again for PS4.

  • Skyrim all the way!

  • I picked TEW. I have Skyrim already.

  • Since Skyrim was one of the worst games I’ve ever played… and I haven’t played TEW… I’ll vote for that.

  • evil within, of course, shinji mikami masterpiece and its getting a sequel soon

  • I accidentally chose Skyrim like an idiot smh a game that I would never choose EVER! TEW hands down, it’s a great game and with the 2nd one coming out ik it’ll be just as good as the 1st one or maybe even better. Bethesda has been doing good lately, sadly Skyrim was never all that and truth be told it was all hype. Oblivion will forever be the best elder scrolls ever, I’ve never played the previous ones so I wouldn’t know how they are. TEW 3-0

    • I used to like Oblivion more, because that was my first and the first is always the best, but I went back and played Oblivion. After enough time to look back objectively, Skyrim is sooo much better. Still, Skyrim could never give me that new found wonderment that Oblivion did. First is best.

    • Nah Oblivion is beyond better than Skyrim, granite Skyrim has the better graphics, but Oblivion had everything overall. Oblivion was so simple and so unique in its own way, Skyrim was just slowly going downhill. There will never be a elder scrolls game as great and marvelous as Oblivion was.

    • KLEEBANKLIBAN I completely agree, I love both. I haven’t played Oblivion in probably a year now because I have a PS4 as well now and so many new games, but while Skyrim is an amazing game, Oblivion was my first TES game and gave me that newfound wonder which just wasn’t the same with Skyrim.

    • Oblivion has its charms for sure (especially in the Thief’s Guild and Dark Brotherhood quests), but for better or worse Skyrim’s streamlining makes it a whole lot more accessible.

That said, I prefer Morrowind, though that has more to do with the setting than the gameplay. It feels like such an alien world, with all the mushrooms and ashen landscapes and giant bugs. Seriously been considering giving the MMO a chance since the setting was added to it recently.

  • 30 for skyrim or 10.50 for evil within tough choice own tew and skyrim on ps3 used to own skyrim on ps4 got bored with it want to try tew on ps4 voted for tew

  • I’m waiting for Skyrim VR.

  • The Evil Within current gen titles that will see a sequel this holiday. 65% off.? Sure.

  • What about Just Cause 3 for LATAM?

  • Skyrim has more overall replay value…..Skyrim has days of entertainment while evil within only gives a few hours of entertainment…my vote is Skyrim this time…

  • I bought The Evil Within Bundle last June. Why like that?

  • I would never play Skyrim on console. I’ve always been on the fence but interested about Evil Within since word of mouth has always been so polarizing. But 65% off would probably make me buy it lol.

  • I have both but I’ll support any people who wan’t Skyrim since it’s really a good game, especially with mods and all that stuff. Good luck everyone! and have fun!

  • Three hints to my vote. Fus, Ro, Duh… since its come to PS4 I’ve made over a dozen characters… not one trophy due to mods.

  • At this point, almost everybody has played, owned, or know of Skyrim by now. It’s one of those games you cant stop hearing or seeing people talk about. Can’t say the same for Evil Within. Vote goes to Evil Within just so more people can experience the game. Not sure if there’s that many people left to experience Skyrim fresh except for a younger audience.

  • when does this end. I am hoping for TEW as I played some of it on xbox but never finished it.

  • Voted The Evil Within because at that price I might finally play it.

  • Going with Skyrim, been wanting to play it again but I don’t have my 360 with me anymore. I never really played Evil Within but it sounds a lot like Dying Light which already gives me my fill of horror/zombie action. Haven’t played Skyrim in a few years and at 50% off I can’t pass it up.

  • Already got skyrim lol

  • I choose Evil Within.

  • The evil within

  • The Evil Within Skyrim 3 (Remastered): The Nathan Drake Collection

  • I picked Skyrim. I’ll play that ANYDAY.

  • The evil within

  • I vote Skyrim! Elder scrolls are one of the best! In my opinion.

  • Evil Within. I want to play it before evil within 2 releases

  • The Evil Within…
