Danganronpa Another Episode Brings Despair to PS4 on June 27

Puhuhuhu… Hello everyone! This is Judith from NIS America. I’m here to announce that Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls will be arriving on June 27, 2017 for PS4 at retail and on PlayStation Store! For those of you who don’t have a PS Vita (where it was initially released), you now have a fantastic opportunity to play!

Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls deviates from the visual novel formula and gives players the thrill of action-packed battles between Komaru Naegi, Toko Fukawa, and the Monokuma robots. While Komaru wanders and explores Towa City, Toko’s “battery gauge” fills up slowly, and when full, players can have Toko transform into Genocide Jack, a ruthless killer who is immune to all damage! However, once her battery gauge is fully depleted, she turns back into Toko, and Komaru once again leads the exploration.

But what is the source of the despair? Komaru discovers that the Warriors of Hope — elementary school children who seek to create a utopia by murdering all adults with Monokuma robots — are behind the chaos. By using her Hacking Gun to confront the Monokuma robots, Komaru just may stand a fighting chance against the onslaught of murderous bears!

What’s so special about the Hacking Gun is its variety of Truth Bullets that can be used in different situations. For instance, some puzzles will require clever use of the “Move” Truth Bullet, which can flip switches, activate machines, and solve puzzles!

New and familiar faces will appear in Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls, and for those of you curious about where in the timeline this game takes place in the Danganronpa world, it is set between Danganronpa 1 & 2.

Are you ready to live (or relive) the despair of the Danganronpa world? Grab your Hacking Gun and brace yourself for a despair-filled adventure! For more information about Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls, be sure to visit the official website.

  • I had to sign and say that I absolutely love the “puhuhuhu” added to the text. Thanks for bringing this game to the PS4 as well :)

  • Beat the game this sunday on Vita. The best Danganronpa!! A surprise for me because the different genre!

Much more Violent and Sick, in a great way to player’s experience

  • Just out of curiosity, will the prices of ps vita versions go down from $40 any? I plan on playing the ps4 versions, but I would really like to play the ps vita version before V3 comes out.

    • Hi there! Although I do not have information on future pricing drops, we still hope you can enjoy the games before V3 arrives :) Thanks again!

  • Two questions: Will my save files transfer over?

And what is the release date for 1 & 2 for the PS4?

Also love these games. Planning to double dip for they’re amazingness.

  • Really enjoyed the story in this game. Unfortunately, I didn’t really care for the game portion, at least not on Vita. The framerate and controls just didn’t work well. A more consistent framerate and a better controller will go a long way, but it’s not a fantastic game. The story is well worth the purchase for Danganronpa fans, but it’s a pretty shallow 3rd Person Shooter. Still really glad to see it being brought to PS4. I love the Danganronpa series, and I am very very excited for V3.

  • Sooo get 1 + 2 in March. But get the game that comes BETWEEN 1 and 2 in June.. makes PERFECT sense for those who want to play em in order

    • This is a series that should be played/experienced in release order anyway (1 -> 2 -> AE -> DR3 anime, alternate Future/Despair with Hope at end) -> V3). AE in particular spoils one of 2’s biggest twists in its first chapter.

    • Uh, no. Another Episode spoils some elements of DR2, it is meant to be played after DR2, even though it takes place chronologically before it.

    • Oh. I always play games in release order.. I just though Ultra Despair girls came before 2 did.. Now that I know it does not then getting D1 and 2 first indeed makes sense.

  • *just sits around waiting for the v3 release date….*

    • Same. Literally unsubbed from everything DR related before the JP release and STILL got spoiled who the master mind is the day the game was released in Japan. I’m very salty and just want my game, please NISAmerica D:

  • Playstation blog should just move on. People came here more for deals than publishers hyping their games no matter how good or bad it is. Now PS has decided to not list Deals because they are horrible. Boo!

  • Played and enjoyed it a lot on Vita. I’m glad more people will be able to experience it.

  • Love all the DR games – played them all on the Vita. I might suggest editing this blog post though, as you spoil a DR1 plot point (Genocide’s identity).

  • Glad I just got the platinum to this gameon Vita yesterday. I got the 1st and 2nd game’s platinum within a month of release, but Ultra Despair Girls took a while due to work and other games getting in the way. Gonna go for the platinum for the re-releases and hopefully V3.

  • Intend to own all Vita version of Danganronpa….tempting to get DGN1+2, After DGN for PS4 just for trophy stacking…..

  • For anyone on the fence on this game GET IT! Its still has what people love from the series its just a 3rd person shooter.

  • the only thing i have to ask is “why? isnt it pretty late to suddenly have a port of this game?”
that and, while i lack any proof, i THOUGHT this game didnt do well enough for a port to be worth it.

nothing against it happening, im just confused that it IS happening.

  • I haven’t played any of these games before but it looks interesting, but are their voices and if so will it be dubbed or just subtitled. I’ve been glad to see so many different Japanese Games released here lately, but been disappointed in the lack of dubbing, especially with games where they only do the text in English, and if there is spoken words without text, there is no subtitle to it.
