Resident Evil 7: Updated Demo Available to All Tomorrow, New Screens

Hello again PlayStation fans! Lots of you are familiar with what we’ve shown of Resident Evil 7 so far, from the first phone ring of the reveal trailer to the desperation of a mysterious woman on a frantic escape from a derelict mansion. Now we’re back with an exciting and disturbing new trailer, news about the RE7 Teaser: Beginning Hour demo, and more!

We’ve been expanding upon the world of Resident Evil 7 and the mysterious plantation house in Louisiana in which the game takes place, hinting at the terrors that lie within, and many of you have had the chance to experience these horrors for yourself by playing the Resident Evil 7 Teaser: Beginning Hour demo.

Of course, you know I’m here to talk about more than that… We’ve just announced a new update for the demo, the Twilight version update, which expands on what you can do and explore. The update will be available starting tomorrow, September 15th. That’s not all – this demo will be available for every PlayStation 4 user, meaning that PlayStation Plus is no longer required to gain access to the plantation house and dig in to the mansion’s mysteries. Now is your chance to investigate on your own, as both newcomers and veterans of Beginning Hour will be able to see what’s changed in the run-down rooms and decrepit corridors.

We’ve also got some exciting news about the Digital Deluxe version of the game available for pre-order on PSN for North America. While the Digital Deluxe edition previously offered the game and a season pass for two additional story episodes for $79.99 in North America, we’ll be upgrading that version with an additional playable story episode to the mix starting tomorrow, and shifting the price to $89.99. If you’ve already pre-ordered the deluxe edition on the North American PS Store, there’s nothing to worry about; your pre-order will be automatically upgraded at no additional charge. In addition, all pre-order customers of either the standard or deluxe versions will get a bunch of bonuses, such as the Survival Pack: Recovery Set. This set includes consumable healing items to help you endure the horrors that await (and don’t worry, these consumables are available again each time you start a new game). Also included is a mysterious in-game Lucky Coin item, as well as access to the deviously difficult Madhouse mode, normally unlocked after completing the game once. On top of all that, all PS4 pre-orders on the PlayStation Store will instantly receive a dynamic theme for their PS4. So head over to PS Store and pre-order RE7 now!

And don’t forget: Resident Evil 7 biohazard will be fully playable in the included optional PlayStation VR mode to provide a fully immersive experience when fear comes home on January 24th, 2017.

  • Nice.

  • Will the demo be VR playable Oct 13th?

    • I really hope so with Kitchen demo available October 13th, it would be nice too fully experience the Resident Evil 7 teaser in VR. Also be nice if RE7 Demo had a Pro mode since I am getting PlayStation 4 Pro in November, I’d like too see difference in VR.

    • Yeah. It’s one of the 18 free demos that will be available when the PSVR launches.

  • Guessing that the Deluxe Edition is getting that 10 dollar increase due to that extra mixed story episode then.

  • I hope this demo lets us alter the FOV. The previous demo’s FOV was so narrow that I got a massive migraine after playing for 15 minutes :-(

  • Nice pitch on the digital preorder, but I still need to buy physical releases- especially considering how much real estate PS4 games are taking up. Really should have just included massive HDs on these things, it was in SONY’s (and everyone’s) best interest. Oh well. Will be looking for a deluxe physical release or the release of the bonus episodes as DLC at a later date. Game demo is creepy AF already and I am excited to see what Capcom has cooked up for the update and then full release. You have my attention.

    A Classic RE Fan

    • @Letters2Kay FYI, you don’t save any space with physical copies since the PS4 fully installs any version of its games.

    • @Eternal-CMO I’m sure he’s aware of that. Some people prefer physical discs and installing one only takes seconds. Depending on someone’s Internet it could take hours to download a game.

  • Finally, something they should have done from the start….allow the demo to be played by all PSN members. If you want to increase the buzz for your game, why restrict access to it at all in the first place?

    • They did it like that because why have a PlayStation 4 with no PlayStation plus it’s pointless it would make the system dull and crappy without PlayStation Plus

    • It was a nice treat for those who subscribe to PS Plus. The game doesn’t release until late January 2017 meaning, now, all PS users (not just Plus) will have more than 4 months to play the demo. If that’s not enough time for ya, I don’t know what to tell you!

  • THEY LIED THERE IS NO DEMO. IVE LOOKED EVERY WHERE i live in north america and ive redownloaded the stupid demo 3 times so thanks for lien sony and thanks for giving it to other contries first pricks

    • Wow man, it’s not a midnight release so maybe you should get a little sleep and see about finding something more important to worry about. The sales are usually updated around noon PST so I’m sure it will be ready by then, if not, see what happens if you wait patiently for a few more hours and try again. I hope this helps.

    • NON PST are you serious that so stupid! that 3pm EST for me the day is practically over but everyone else gets it right on the 15th. i didnt know USA was getting on the 16th

    • Also i woke up at 6am EST to play the new demo oh wait USA wont get it for another 12 hours cause america sucks

    • Awww. Someone’s up past his bedtime!

  • still waiting. its now been 9 HOURS with no update for North america when everyone else has it. but you want us to pay 60$ a year for PS Plus…. sorry ill be going to Xbox one causes your service is terrible your customer service is terrible and you cant even update a game on time. This is why xbox is winning ill be refunding my PSVR not gonna give your company 500$ for a company that cant do anything right

  • You have to remember that PlayStation doesn’t update its systems till around 3 in the afternoon eastern time. That’s why like when the Resident Evil 4,5, and 6 came out a lot of people had it but we didn’t because the store and games won’t update till 3 pm so have patience wait a couple more hours . Go get breakfast or something.

  • Dear Sony, how in the world are you going to make a 4K gaming rig(Pro) but not have a 4K drive in order to play 4K games? I understand digitally downloaded games maybe being 4K native but without a 4K drive you are simply up scaling the resolution. Are you simply up scaling a digital download as well?

    • Maybe if you keep commenting on every single unrelated page about this, someone will eventually care. Nah. Probably not.

    • You’ll be happy to know that a standard Blu-Ray disc is capable of outputting at 2160p (i.e. UHD resolution!). However, it’s a safe bet not to expect ANY worthwhile retail release to output at that resolution natively given the PS4 Pro’s specs. Don’t expect this to be any different for the Xbox Scorpio next year either.

  • Why my demo don’t be update?
    pls, someone help me?

  • Whaaaat? Ahhhh. I’ll just wait til I get the PSVR to try it though.

  • Honestly if anyone is getting a ps4 they might as well get ps plus and stop being cheap

But more to the point. Will we be getting the limited edition japan is getting or do i have to import it.
