Indigo Prophecy is Coming to PS4 on August 9

We’re very excited to be releasing the PS2 to PS4 version of Fahrenheit / Indigo Prophecy on August 9 via PlayStation Store.

Indigo Prophecy was initially launched in 2005 in partnership with Atari. Looking back, I can say that our team’s serenity and faith in what we were creating was in direct opposition to the skepticism of a great number of people to whom we pitched the game.

This skepticism was so radical that we had to switch publishing partners during the last third of the game’s production. While we were showing off the beta version, a certain group of high-profile professionals even claimed that we would never be able to finish the game!

The reason for this skepticism was that we were creating something radically new, as we were attempting to resolve an equation that many thought was unsolvable: putting the story at the very core of an interactive experience and inventing gameplay that allowed players, through their actions and decisions, to change the way the story unfolds.

When the game launched, we were thrilled by the critical reception. The game became the best-reviewed adventure game since Grim Fandango. We received more than 50 accolades for Best Adventure Game, Best Story, Best Original Score, and even some Game of the Year awards. The game “found its audience” and became commercially successful, which enabled us to fund a prototype (The Casting, for those old enough to remember!) leading us to sign our next game with Sony Interactive Entertainment Worldwide Studios.

Indigo Prophecy, in many ways, paved the way for Heavy Rain (released on PS3 in 2010, and on PS4 in 2016) and Beyond: Two Souls (PS3 in 2013 and PS4 in 2015). Most of the concepts found in its successors were invented during this game’s development: multiple characters, contextual gameplay mechanics, characters you can identify with, a cinematic experience (thanks to highly detailed environments), and beautiful music composed by Angelo Badalamenti and our dear late friend Normand Corbeil.

We hope you will enjoy this adapted version, lovingly crafted by our friends of the International Software Development Group at SIEA, which features the original game as well as a complete set of newly implemented Trophies.

  • I loved this game! Wish I had time to replay older titles. But I’m there day one with Detroit Become Human.

  • I prophecy that I will get this Indigo game.

    • Was driving by gamestop and stopped Indigo get a pokemon distribution code for the month. I fell to the floor but at least it was a Fahrenheit and I did not get hurt. I realized I had to get home before the Heavy Rain, because if I got sick I might have Quantic Dreams. Then again I have high functioning Aspyr-gers so maybe that explains the weird dreams. My counselor tells me I need to get Beyond the thought that my pet and I are Two Souls, and says I should move out of Detroit and a place where I can grow and get experiences that make me feel like I’ve Become more Human. I feel like I’m some David trapped in a Cage, yearning to be a Nomadic Soul. Maybe I shouldn’t have read the Necro-Omikron. Maybe that’s why I feel like my life is just a movie with a few Quick Time Events that I constantly fumble with.

      Ok… I admit it…

I got hugely carried away. Thus ends this production of Makai goes insane with referencing.

    • Well done, MakaiOokami!

  • Is this the censored NA version of the game, or the uncensored EU version?

    • Is uncensored, Quantic Dream already confirmed that on their Twitter. The original PS2 release was also uncensored but only on Europe I think.
Now it will be uncensored for both regions

  • Is this the censored version of the game? If so I’m gonna pass. I got the Steam version to enjoy uncensored.

    • Is uncensored, Quantic Dream already confirmed that on their Twitter. The original PS2 release was also uncensored but only on Europe I think.
Now it will be uncensored for both regions.

Sadly the PC version has only 17 achievements, while this PS4 has a full 49 trophies + exclusive Platinum list :)

  • Ugh. No thanks. I was hoping for this to be a port of Fahrenheit: Indigo Prophecy Remastered that came out last year for PC.

    Super disappointed, Quantic Dream.

    • Everyone knows that Sony started a PS2 emulation on PS4 months ago, that’s way they are releasing the PS2 versions of many of their games.
Rockstar chose to released the PS2 version instead of the Scholarship Edition because of Sony’s deal about releasing the PS2 emulations exclusively for the PS4.
That’s why Xbox and PC isn’t getting any of this re-releases: wikipedia . org/wiki/List_of_PlayStation_2_games_for_PlayStation_4
Also where’s the improvement from the PC version? just remastered textures with no new features and that’s it, this PS4 version will be uncensored, Quantic Dream already confirmed that on their Twitter.

  • Will Indigo Prophecy have platinum trophy ?

  • Won’t be playing this. It’s a David Cage ‘game’ and thus nothing more than QTE: ‘The Game’.

    • sorry timmy, you can’t 420blazeit360dankmemescope in this. gotta go play cod for that.

    • Awesome! I was a bit disappointed in the delay and now it’s releasing the same day as No Man’s Sky, but I will still play this! I love PS2 games on PS4, and I think it’s the best way to play them. I’m a bit of a Quantic Dream fan, as I’ve platinumed Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls on both PS3 and PS4. Sadly never got to play Indigo Prophecy as my PS2 was dead by the time I became a fan of QD.

    • If you say that is only because you haven’t played it, this game isn’t only about QTEs and has more gameplay than QD’s recent games, but not as many endings since its older.

  • Loved this game, was one of my favorites back in the day. I will be buying this again, thank you for re-releasing it.

  • interesting, i might have to pick this up. i played it whenever i was in college and was blown away by the ideas of it. Sadly i never finished it since my PS2 died.

  • I really enjoyed Heavy Rain and Beyond Two Souls. Looking forward to pick up your first title. And Detroit, of course.

  • YES YES YES!

  • Finally, been waiting since the delay last month

  • Cool! I did not know this was even coming to PS4! Ive heard so many good things and always wanted to try it. I will purchase Sony! Thank you for bringing the PS library to the new gen so many games i havent tried back in the PS3 days plus trophy support i love it!

  • Was really hopefully that this would be the same as the steam uncensored international edition that I bought on steam. O well I will wait for a sale and still buy it as I want it in my sony digital collection. I want a remastered nomads soul.

    • Is uncensored, Quantic Dream already confirmed that on their Twitter. The original PS2 release was also uncensored but only on Europe I think.
Now it will be uncensored for both regions.

  • Won’t be buying this – I really enjoyed the game but the remaster on PC the other year was such an improvement. For them to just release the ps2>ps4 instead of the remaster seems silly.

That’s like if the PC got the remasters of final fantasy x/x2 but the ps4 got a ps2>ps4 emulated version.

  • @17:

    i really don’t get them, who wanted this lame PS2 – > PS4 port?

  • Big deal its the censored ps2 game plus iwas disappointed about the release of heavy rain on the ps4 full of bugs and haves less content then the directors cut for the ps3

    • Is uncensored, Quantic Dream already confirmed that on their Twitter. The original PS2 release was also uncensored but only on Europe I think.

  • Missed Indigo Prophecy on the PS2 days, will get it on PS4 at some point.Glad to see it coming.

  • PS2 to PS4 announcement; hopefully “Persona 3 FES” will get one soon too

  • I loved this game on PS2. But I do remember that the game had long load times on PS2. Has the loading improved for this version? I ask because I am debating whether to pick it up.

    • PS2 emulations on PS4 tend to have improved loading and saving times. So you should expect this version to run better.

  • Incredibly disappointed that this is the censored version of the game.

I don’t support censorship of any kind and therefore will not be purchasing this title. Expected better than this from Sony and Quantic Dream. :(

    • Is uncensored, Quantic Dream already confirmed that on their Twitter. The original PS2 release was also uncensored but only on Europe I think.

  • stop correcting people’s post it the censored us version not the eu version

    • Quantic Dream said on their Twitter that is the uncut version: twitter . com/QUANTIC_DREAM/status/743868275436589056
They didn’t said anything about “only the EU version is uncensored”, so they are probably going to release the EU uncensored version for US this time. Kind of like how Sony released the EU version of Ape Escape 2 on US this time.

    • Sorry I did not no that they release Europe versions of ps2 games in the us

  • Ever since Indigo Prophecy came out, only one thing remains true.

The only people who take Indigo Prophecy seriously are people who are being paid to do so.

To this day, there have been games with stupid endings and retarded plot twists.
To this day, there have been nonsensical enemies that appeared out of nowhere to completely derail the plot.
But none that have appeared, nor will any that will -ever- appear shall take the title of dumbest fight ever from Indigo Prophecy.
    Many have tried.

From bosses that kill themselves if you do nothing, from bosses that don’t even fight and just sit there waiting for you to sneeze on them, from bosses who were dead long before the fight even began.

Nothing shall ever dethrone Indigo Prophecy from the Throne of Silly.

  • HOLY YES!!!!! THANK YOU SONY GODS!!!

  • Price?

  • What is the difference between censored and uncensored?

  • Please. please, please, please, PLEASE consider bringing SILENT HILL 2 (PS2) to PS4 next.

  • Back when this game was out on the PS2 I had no PS2, always wanted to play it. After all those years I’ll finally get to, can’t wait!

  • Agreed! It was a lousy game when it came out. The remastered version on PC looks marginally better, but still suffers from poor gameplay. Controls for this game were awkward at best. So oh boy rejoice, PS4 owners get to play a PS2 version on their PS4….with trophy support. Big deal, McNeil.

  • Fahrenheit is an absolute turd.

The first half of the game was very promising and, indeed, is the blueprint for what came later with Heavy Rain and Beyond (for better or worse). The second half is a horrendous mess of an eye-rolling “story” and unfortunately shows why David Cage is (still) a mediocre scriptwriter.

Not even mentioning that the PS2 version has some serious performance issues.

  • While the aspect ratio has been updated, the visuals are evidently a port of the PS2 release :( Please correct this release with the existing “Fahrenheit: Indigo Prophecy Remastered” available on Steam/PC (also a 5.1 Dolby digital output – I understand the PS2 release is also encoded that way but as Dolby Pro Logic II)
