Stealth-Action Game Shadwen Slinks onto PS4

Hello, PlayStation fans! It’s a great pleasure for me to announce that our upcoming stealth-action game Shadwen will soon be making its way onto the PS4. We’re aiming for a May launch window! Let’s start off with the announcement trailer:

Stealth-Action Game Shadwen Slinks onto PS4

Shortly put, Shadwen is an explosive stealth game where the only rule is to remain unseen at all times. If you get caught, it’s game over. Luckily, there are a bunch of gameplay mechanics that make this a lot of fun. For starters, time only moves when you’re moving, so you have ample time to plan your moves, even in mid-air. Second, should you make a mistake or wish to try some maneuver (a kill for example) in a different way, you can instantly rewind time and try again!

The premise of the story is that Shadwen, an assassin on her way to kill the king, has a chance encounter with an orphan girl, Lily. The girl has been caught stealing and Shadwen decides to help her out of the precarious situation.

Throughout the game you have the option to play either lethally or non-lethally, starting from the first encounter. The story will be different depending on your choice to kill or not to kill. You will, however, need to take action one way or the other!

Physics and the movement of your character play a big role in the game. You’re free to traverse the medieval city with your grappling hook and impressive acrobatic skills. You can topple over crates and barrels from high up to surprise unsuspecting guards or plant bombs and other deadly devices onto various objects to watch your opponents die in gruesome ways. There’s a lot of room for experimentation and pretty much anything can work!

You could, for example, load a cart with poison dart traps and push it downhill onto a group of guards. If it doesn’t quite work out as you first pictured it in your mind, you can instantly rewind time and try something different. Perhaps exploding bombs would have been the deadlier choice, or distraction the stealthier option?

Stay tuned for our launch in May, and please let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

  • Interesting take on the stealth genre, day one for me. Loved the Trine series, I have faith in you guys! BTW, Trine 3 was awesome.

  • Time moves only when you move? A chance to rewind time when you make a mistake? Lethal or non-lethal gameplay? Ohohoho I’m sold guys

  • Thanks that’s fun to hear :) There’s definitely lots of room for experimentation with that combo!

  • I like the non-lethal style and it making it part of the game. Excited to see more of this.

  • OMG! This games sounds spectacular! I can’t wait to play it! Huge fan of the Trine series as well. Keep up the great work.

  • Is there co-op in this (like Trine) or is this a single player game?

  • It’s single player, but Lily the little orphan girl will keep you company!

  • After watching the video above, my first thought was ‘That’s going to be one f’ed up little girl.’

  • Well I’m sold, I double dipped on both Trine games on PS3 and PS4, and I loved Trine 3. Glad to see you guys trying something new and I live supporting Indies as passionate as your team. Good luck with the game!

  • Stealth games oiii I just had a moment :)))))

  • Would love this to be one of PS Plus games of the month. It sounds and looks very interesting.

  • There are alot of games with this mechanic I hope this brings something new in the genre.

  • Looks very interesting! I’m not very good at stealth games but I loved Trine so I want to give it a try :)

Any chance will see more content/story to Trine 3? :D

  • I played the demo for this via GOG (such a cool promotion with the demo/pricing thing, btw!). It’s rad! I didn’t know it was headed to consoles too; I’m so down for this :D I loved stealth games back in the day, but am not a big fan of stealth-with-gun games these day… and let’s be honest, we can’t even count on regular Splinter Cell releases anymore. The genre seems like it’s hurting. I recently tried to go back and play Tenchu Fatal Shadows on PS2 and my God are the controls all kinds of awkward! We need new stealth games, and this came out of nowhere, but immediately jumped onto my radar! I can’t wait to play this on PS4!

    • If your looking for a good stealth game fore this check out Styx: Master of Shadow.

This looks interesting. I’ll keep an eye out for it. April turned out to be a game over load but may doesn’t look like anything chaotic other then uncharted.

  • All I needed to see was FROZENBYTE…

  • So Trine 3’s 3D Engine in work I guess.

  • the only thing I’m iffy on from the trailer is the companion / 2nd character. If her AI’s pathing is even slightly off, or god forbid you have to escort her. But otherwise this looks excellent, and i’ll be making note on my list of things to watch.

  • This looks pretty cool. Will definitely be playing this.

  • lol didn’t expect a little girl to kill people

  • This one almost sneaked past me, but I”m glad I spotted it!
