UPDATE (June 29, 2016): As promised, we’re opening our summer wave of PS VR pre-orders starting Thursday, June 30 at 7:00 AM Pacific on GameStop.com. Supplies are limited, and this is your final chance to pre-order. If you miss out, we will have product available in retail stores nationwide at launch.
UPDATE: Thanks to everyone for sharing their feedback on PlayStation VR pre-orders! It’s clear that there’s a lot of interest from many of you to secure the PlayStation VR core system, and I’m happy to share that we’ve decided to make it available for pre-order on Tuesday, March 29, at 7:00 a.m. PT at participating retailers.
So to wrap it all up, here are your pre-order options:
- PlayStation VR Launch Bundle ($499.99 MSRP) – pre-order on March 22 at 7:00 a.m. PT
- PlayStation VR core ($399.99 MSRP) – pre-order on March 29 at 7:00 a.m. PT
If you’re interested in owning PlayStation VR on day one, mark those calendars as we’re expecting these units to sell out quickly!
It’s been an exciting week for PS VR, but we still have more news to share. Starting at 7:00 a.m. PT on Tuesday, March 22nd, pre-orders will open for the PlayStation VR Launch Bundle at participating retailers. Exclusively for pre-sale and in limited quantities, this bundle will include:
- All contents of the PS VR core bundle:
- PS VR headset
- PS VR cables
- Stereo Headphones
- PlayStation VR Demo Disc
- PlayStation Camera
- 2 PlayStation Move motion controllers
- PlayStation VR Worlds (disc)
At $499.99, this bundle provides an unbeatable value for those of you looking to get right into VR gaming with your PlayStation 4. Since we’re including one of our top PS VR launch games, PlayStation VR Worlds, we know you’ll have a great experience right out of the box. This bundle will also be available in Canada for $699.99 CAD.
If you miss out on this wave of pre-orders, fear not – we’ll have another wave in the summer.
The core PS VR bundle, which has a suggested retail price of $399.99 USD / $549.99 CAD, is not available for pre-order.
We’re thrilled with the response to PlayStation VR so far, and can’t wait for all of you to get your hands on one.
So wait, are we still going to be able to preorder a regular $399.99 PSVR? I already have a PS Camera, and even two Move controllers, so I’d hate to have a second pair of each.
Me, and i think a lot of other player, are in the same position… when is possible to pre-oreder only the VR and the game without all the other stuff?
C’mon, Sony! I want the core system as I already bought the camera and move controllers years ago. Seems like a big step back for VR fans.
Agreed. I am very upset that an unbundled VR pre-order isn’t available. For people that do not have the camera and Move controllers (and that is probably most people), this is a great all-in-one option. However, by choosing not make an unbundled option available, Sony penalizes customers who previously committed to its other peripherals. Why not offer both as pre-order options? Sony made a choice at the expense of people like us. That’s disappointing.
Yes. You will be able to buy the PSVR alone. It’s just a bundle announcement.
Sony really dropped the ball on us.
Seriously, they have to let us pre-order the core PS VR bundle. There’s no way we’re going to find these in stores over here standalone.
Yeah, charging us an extra $150 to preorder is an absolutely terrible move to the people you admit are your biggest supporters. I have the camera, 3 move controllers, 2 navcons and 2 sharpshooters. Come on Sony, do the right thing
EVERYONE! Relax! There will be a PSVR Core ($399) pre-order later. Its obvious. just be patient. They want to have expectations for sales for this bundle first as manufacturing these are more difficult. Be patient and I am sure we will hear about the Core pre-orders in the coming weeks.

Now follow it to the bottom and find the following: PlayStation VR Headset $399 MSRP Pre-Orders coming soon
They answer your exact question at the end of the post.
“The core PS VR bundle, which has a suggested retail price of $399.99 USD / $549.99 CAD, is not available for pre-order.”
Yes, it’s obviously coming as well, it just isn’t available for preorder at the time.
Looks like we’ll be able to order either the Core Bundle (just the PS VR) or the Launch Bundle (which includes the camera, Move controllers and game).
No, says the core vr system is not available for pre order
Good grief, people. Dial it down a notch. Of course we will be able to pre-order the standalone VR system. Why would anyone would assume otherwise is beyond me. PS VR doesn’t launch for 5 months and the release date was just announced. Give retailers a little time to get set up.
Yep – add me to this list of disappointed early adopters. I got the two sets of move controllers (+PS Eye) during the PS3 days, and that went nowhere. Then I got the PS4 camera at launch, at that’s sitting around doing nothing. Now to reward us for having faith from the get-go, we are told that the core PS VR is not available for pre-order.
@ PanTheMan16 – “Why would anyone would assume otherwise is beyond me.” Maybe because being able to read is beyond you too, “The core PS VR bundle, which has a suggested retail price of $399.99 USD / $549.99 CAD, is not available for pre-order.”
If you look at the pre-order page that was linked, $399 for just the headset, no camera or controllers included.
M1NAT3K – Not sure why you’re so hostile, but the core set absolutely will be made available in due time. As I said, the announcement is still fresh and there are reasons that everything isn’t available yet. And by your reasoning, we should expect that the summer wave will be the last opportunity to pre-order PS VR.
For one, offering this bundle first is ideal because not everyone may be aware that the camera and Move controllers are required. This ensures that the people pre-ordering this bundle will have everything they need, and it truly is a fantastic deal for those who don’t have the required accessories yet.
And the other important thing Sony is doing is gauging interest before they go all out. This is a brand new system and they have to get an idea of how strong sales will be.
You know, the reason Vita tanked isn’t because Sony stopped supporting it. Sony stopped supporting it because it didn’t sell well, despite the excellent support they gave it early on.
I have a camera and two move controllers already way to screw over your most loyal customers!! Why is there no preorder of the core package?
Did you read the whole post? “The core PS VR bundle (as in just the PSVR itself), which has a suggested retail price of $399.99 USD / $549.99 CAD, is not available for pre-order.”
Damn, I thought I was the only sucker who had all the useless peripherals already.
I went from “damn, no pre-order” to “damn, pre-order but I don’t need to pay the extra 100”.
Hopefully they’ll make the core VR available for pre-order. And not interested in the PS Worlds disc, Will get it used when it drops to 10 bucks or less on amazon around 2017.
399.99 will still be available, but this is for those that don’t have the camera/controllers.
This is really good, since it shows that those move controllers you do have will be used for some titles at least.
I have the core PSVR pre-ordered. Though going to upgrade when/if the bundle hits Norway. Not sure why you guys can’t pre-order it, since it’s pretty much up to each retailer. They could just offer pre-orders for it, and send it when it got into their stock. So yeah, not sure what’s up with the US/wherever you guys are.
Simple, it’s to create an install base and have numbers of how many people will buy the bundle with move.
That way, they know if they should make games for PS move.
Altough, I already own PS Move and a lot of other people does too, so how do you calculate that?
Read the whole article, people. It says the core preorder date has not been determined yet, which means, I’m assuming, that there will be one announced in the future. No need to get all up in arms.
I already have a camera for my ps4, ps gold headphones, and wands. I just want the vr equipment. What’s the price?
For people thinking the core system won’t be available for sale, just click the first link in this post: https://blog.playstation.com/2016/03/15/playstation-vr-launching-october-for-399/
You guys JUST saw this post, too. smh
