PlayStation Vue Goes Nationwide, Starting at $29.99 in New Markets

Many of you have been patiently waiting for PlayStation Vue to come to your city, and today we’re pleased to announce that PlayStation Vue is making its nationwide debut. We’re expanding the service to the rest of the U.S. to give our fans a better way to watch popular live and on-demand TV from top networks like AMC, ESPN, Comedy Central, Cartoon Network, and more, using PlayStation Vue’s unique streaming features.

PlayStation Vue

We’re kicking off this launch with our new Slim multi-channel plans that are available in the 203 newly launched markets. Here are the prices for these new plans — all are offered with a free seven-day trial.

  • Access Slim: 55+ channels, including live cable TV, movies, and sports channels for $29.99 per month.
  • Core Slim: 70+ channels, including all the channels from Access Slim with the addition of national and regional sports networks for $34.99 per month.
  • Elite Slim: 100+ channels, featuring all the channels from Core Slim with the addition of more top movie and entertainment channels for $44.99 per month.

With an Internet connection and a PlayStation Vue TV-connected device, there are no hidden fees or long-term contracts for PlayStation Vue.

PlayStation VuePlayStation Vue

Some of you may be wondering, what’s the difference between Slim and our standard multi-channel plans available in previously launched cities (New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, Dallas, San Francisco, and Miami)? Slim plans are only available in the newly launched markets and will offer all of the same live cable channels as the standard PlayStation Vue plans. However, ABC, FOX and NBC will offer video-on-demand (VOD)-only content. This means you’ll be able to access top network content, including primetime shows, from the three broadcast networks. Most on-demand content will be available within 24 hours after airing. CBS live and on-demand programming will also be added to select cities at a later date.

We’re working to add local broadcast stations to your city, which will add live, local programing to the channel lineup. You can find more information on plans in your city here: www.psvue.com

Users can take advantage of PlayStation Vue’s unique TV streaming features, including the following:

  • Cloud DVR — PlayStation Vue’s unmatched cloud DVR allows users to record hundreds of shows at once and store thousands of hours of content.
  • Simultaneous Streaming — a single PlayStation Vue subscription allows users to simultaneously stream content across different devices.
  • Powerful Interface — this seamlessly blends live and on-demand content to put top programming front and center, with innovative search and discovery tools. You can also “catch up” on many popular programming within the past three days from a show’s first live airing.

PlayStation Vue

In addition, users can also access programming from more than 60 network mobile apps or websites, simply by logging in with their PlayStation Network ID. The mobile apps and websites are developed by network programmers and are a separate offering from PlayStation Vue, but can be used at no additional cost.

Users can access PlayStation Vue through PS4, PS3, Amazon Fire TV, and Fire TV Stick, as well as iPad and iPhone through the PlayStation Vue mobile app. Google Chromecast is also supported via compatible iOS devices.

We’re excited about this expansion, and can’t wait to share more news about our future plans for PlayStation Vue.

  • Great service, I’ll be fully on board the second a Roku 3 is released.

  • Is this permanent pricing?

  • Awesome deals! I will jump all over this as soon as there’s Roku support. Android and PC support need to come, too!

  • I think the service is excellent. I started with the basic plan, which is perfect because it has all the stations I watch and only costs $40… Compare that to the $115 I pay every month for DirecTV for the same stations and a ton of fees. I signed up for Vue today to try it out and I cancelled my DirecTV within just a few hours.

  • I just bought a Roku 3 and a Roku Stick last month so I could subscribe to Sling TV. As soon as Vue supports Roku I’ll make the switch. Hopefully it’s soon. Also, 10 Mbps seems a bit high for suggested bandwidth. Netflix, HBO Now and Sling TV all stream HD with 5 Mbps and under. So why is the requirements doubled with Vue?

  • Hi, I just got Vue and it says we’re supposed to get our regional sports channels CSN Chicago and FOX Sports Midwest. They are not showing up in my channels and I have the highest package. I hope these are included like your listings show. If not, I may reconsider. Please help! Thanks!

  • On a local sports channel, are live baseball games going to be available? like will CSN Bay Area play the Giants games?

    • If they carry Giants games, they probably should. I have the Core package since it includes Fox Sports North which shows the Twins.

  • I would keep this service if it was $29.99 in the Portland or market instead of $39.99 and if it had the East feed of some channels like the USA Network.

  • How much a month do people here pay for their internet? Sony recommends at least 10mbps for one streaming device & another 5 for each additional. So realistically, you need speeds of at least 20mpbs to enjoy Vue.
TW price for internet is $35 plus $10 for the modem/router combo plus tax for a 50mbps internet which you will need. It comes out to around $50 a month to have the internet you need in order to watch Vue in HD without buffering and on multiple devices. If you get the cheapest Vue plan, you are paying either $30 or $40 a month. Which means you are paying $80 or $90 a month total in order to have Vue with the least amount of channels. TW has a bundle with internet and cable that gives you triple the channels for $89.99 a month and a $300 gift card. Sure the $89.99 TW cable/internet bundle price is good for only a year and you have to pay for an additional receiver every month but at least in my area, Vue is not that great of a deal. You would be paying like $10-15 less a month for way less channels. If you want the most expensive Vue package, it will be $45-$55 a month. Add that to internet & you are paying the same or more as cable and cable still has way more channels than Vue. Where is the value in Vue exactly?

  • I just signed up with Comcast for 2 months ago, Bummer. I might try out the trial but I’m stuck with Comcast for 2 years. I hope the best of luck with PSVue, maybe I’ll switch in 22 months.

  • wonder if they over a scheduling feature on the DVR function.
so we wont be missing any shows at all.

    Thanks

    • Once you tell it to record a show it will save every single episode of that series that has aired recently for I think 28 days. So once you tell it to save that one time it will always save till you tell it you no longer want the show saved. You can just click R1 on the controller to save and click it again if you don’t want to save it anymore.

  • Would love to see access to Root Sports in the Pittsburgh market instead of Fox Sports Ohio. Hopefully it can be available soon. Unlikely to subscribe until that takes place.

  • How do I change my location and plan? I moved from NYC to NC and need to change everything.

  • Really, they have chromecast support for the iphone but no android app???????????

    • They have said they are working on an Android app. So hopefully, that will be released soon.

Also hoping to be able to watch it on PC/Mac one day soon.

  • If you’re looking to trial Vue on an Ipad but don’t have a PS4 or PS3 or other supported device, you’re screwed. They make you generate a profile on one of those supported device before being able to watch it on the Ipad. This is idiotic. Why not just make it available on Ipad outright? Sling TV is already on there. And Playstation does not explain this!!!!!

  • *sigh* I was really hoping I could replace my cable with this but the Disney Channel (and all channels owned by Disney) run so badly it’s an excercise in frustration trying to watch them. Seeing as that has been my biggest hurdle in cutting the cable, I cannot do it until they get better. I can’t even watch half the show cause it goes into a “we’ll be back screen”, it skips a few seconds ahead several times, or a few seconds behind, or the sound cuts out constantly. It’s just not watchable for those channels. Hell, even trying to go to sleep to them is worse when the sound keeps cutting out so wakes me up at the suddenness of that.

I know it’s those channels cause other channels are fine and if they ran as well as the other channels (least Comedy and National Geographic) I’d be all for it. But all the channels I watch regularly run like crap (I was excited cause you guys finally got all of them).

I like the features a lot and of course the price. I really would love to go to this. I just hope that when it improves I’ll get a chance to try it out again later cause I’d love to get this service once these problems are resolved (but I won’t know without being able to try it).

  • Are there any plans to bring PlayStation Vue to Sony smart televisions? I have a x930c that is prime for this product.

    • Not really sure, but from my understand their plan is to bring PlayStation Vue to as many devices as they can. So there’s a very good chance they will bring it to smart TVs.

  • It’s a shame you don’t have GSN, and the wife requires Lifetime and A&E…otherwise we’d be all over this.

    • Not sure about GSN but I’ve heard people state they will be bring History Channel to PS Vue sometime soon. If that is true then since A&E owns History Channel, I’m sure will be getting A&E and Viceland too. Another channel I’d love to see added is WGN America.

  • I’m definitely going to PlayStation Vue when I get paid. The one thing it needs though is Android TV support. It seems kind of silly that a Sony Android Tv wouldn’t have it when it has other PlayStation branded apps

  • its great local channels is the only thing missing live in Minneapolis area wonder how long it will take them to get local channels then i would switch from dish to this

    • I think they’re going to happen eventually. Personally I could care less about the local channels, I’m just happy to be able to get FSN for a better price than cable.

  • Super excited. Subscribing as soon as I get home!

  • Great free trial so far. NOT! LoL. First attempt at starting it after downloading it, it throws up like 20 java errors in a row then forces me to close. Relaunching it, it then tells me that it cannot verify my subscription. Third attempt it tells me the same thing, then afterwords is says something about trying to fix errors… please try again later.

    • We couldn’t verify your account. Make sure you have an

active subscription with PlayStation Vue. Otherwise,

check to see if PlayStation Network is down.

      (s1_2bg-dw)

I in fact have an active subscription & the PlayStation Network is not down.

  • I signed up for the free trial, but I’ll be canceling before they charge me if they don’t have Android support by then.

  • I just picked up the $29 package. Its going to save me exactly $147.37. I am paying THAT much for standard cable alone, 3 DVRs and HD. With my 2 PS4s and 1 PS3, this has been an incredible product to bring into the home. The best part is that the channel lineup is exactly everything I would need in a video package.

After speaking with a retention agent with my current service provider, she was completely dismayed by the fact that she had absolutely no way to compete. Simply releasing this service nationwide has essentially paid for the 2nd PS4 that I bought for my bedroom after 3 months because of the adjustment to my cable package.

Funny thing is, I am a retention agent for a cable company as well and we had an awesome conversation and I would absolutely agree that there is no offer that we could possibly give to match the services provided for the cost with my company.

I would even argue the price point is too low, however I do understand the cost of equipment is prohibitive, however for a family like mine, its a cost we have already taken up.

  • It doesn’t even make any sense for not having Android access/support. Seriously, Android has the biggest market penatration in the world and not iOS. Why in the world SONY would not first have an Android support? It’s like SONY have their Apps on Samsung TV’s but PS3 & PS4 have issues with their HDMI’s not working properly with them! I love my PS3 and planning to buy PS4 but having doubts on if I should buy it as my current PS3 HDMI connection is not working with my 2014 Curved Samsung TV. It’s so pathetic that every other devises work via HDMI with my Samsung TV but only PS3 won’t work. Extremely, disappointed with SONY. More pathetic is that SONY can’t fix this problem or should I say… they’re deliberately doing this with Samsung so that it forces consumers to buy their TV’s. SONY, when it comes to TV’s you were #1 in the world however, now is Samsung. How come Xbox 360 & Xbox One have no issues with Samsung Tv’s? It’s all over the Internet from all over the world about this issue! SONY is doing an amazing job with PS4 however, fix the above mentioned issue with Samsung TV. I was waiting for PS Vue and I’m so happy that now it’s available in my market.

  • well this is a start for vue to get better but the local channels i would like to see soon. The price is still not great and more live channels would be nice also more channel packs for sports with a low price. needs better interface to make it more fun and easy for users to watch tv. I wanna see better picture quality HD channels please. More channels need to be added to the service i understand they just added ESPN but there are still many channels i would like to have with a good price because nobody wants cable anymore if there are no contracts the price should be great for us because we are paying for ps plus and this better yet how about just adding the Vue to are ps plus so we only have to pay for 50.00 a year instead of paying for 2 different plans if we have live we should get vue for free

  • Trying the PlayStation Vue free trial and so far I haven’t encountered any lag or image distortion like on Sling TV. You should add local channels (including the ones in Spanish) and a Spanish language (and other language) packages. I watch tv in both languages and local channels. Do that and I will get rid of my satallite tv provider for PlayStation Vue.

  • So I bought a Fire TV and had a buyer interested in my Roku 3. First impressions of Fire TV was not good. The UI was overcrowded, and some of my Roku apps were unavailable, or only available with a Prime subscription (e.g. Shudder). As for PS Vue, the picture quality and bandwidth being used didn’t add up. I was using twice as much bandwidth as Sling TV, but edges were more pixelated, especially with cartoons. So the Fire TV is going back (remote was defective anyways), and I’m keeping my Roku 3. I’ll check out Vue once Roku support is available and the bandwidth/quality issue is improved upon.

  • I just tried the service and you guys are life savers. I have been struggling to watch my favorite shows and soccer games since I cut my cables. Most service don’t offer great channels like you guys. I really liked PlayStation vue because of several reason: 1. Quality 2.live soccer games which include UEFA championes league, La Liga and Seria. 3.AMC and TNT. 4.DVR service.my only concerns that I couldn’t find two channels that I like, which are Bein sport in Spanish and ESPN deportes. It would be amazing if we can have them.

  • I like the service, but the interface is very slow on the Fire TV stick. I’m trying out the trial to see how it does with recordings.

You can pause live tv but you can’t rewind or fast forward which is a huge bummer. The “catch up option” for shows isn’t any good. You can’t rewind or fast forward those and they tack on 10-15 min of the previous program to the beginning of an episode. If my recordings that I’ve set end up like this, then I will be swiftly canceling.

The guide grid is awful and needs a standard looking guide upgrade. Once the app comes to android and Roku with a much smoother and snappy interface, this service could be fantastic.

Also please add CBS and CW to on demand!

  • Please get Fox Sports Midwest working in the St Louis area. It list it on your website but many others like myself are unable to watch it or even see the channel on the application itself. On your PS forums there are multiple threads about this issue with other cities regional sports networks as well.

This is the ONLY thing keeping me from dropping my DirecTV setup and switching to yours. I want to watch my Cardinals and Blues.

    Please fix this ASAP!

  • It would be awesome if sometime in the future you guys give us the option to choose what channels we want in our plan and it will make a price depending on the channels and how many we have, just in case people want only a few certain channels and if they want more they can upgrade and choose more channels which will obviously raise the price. The service is pretty good so far HD quality and seems very smooth, but sometimes it will randomly say channels are having problems and then will go away after awhile, Pretty cool service overall!

  • It would also be nice to allow PlayStation Plus members to get Vue at a discount so instead of it being $45 for 100 channels have it be around $39.99 for Plus members because the pricing is kinda high and would definitely keep the service if we would get some sort of discount, I’m trying the free trail at the moment and it isn’t a bad service after all, it would be cool if you guys brought more sports channels like CBS. Good service overall but the price is what I’m skeptical on.

  • These sound very promising! My one big question with the Slim packages is will we still be able to watch live NFL and MLB games when they are on ABC, NBC, FOX, or CBS? I’m unclear on that since it appears their content will only be on-demand at least 24 hours after airing. Any clarification on that would be awesome! thanks!

  • This has tipped me over the edge and I just started my trial. If it works, my Dish Network subscription will be gone within a week. $109 a month for very little. The local channel issue is slightly off putting but I invested in a Tablo for Local Channels so its easily solved. This enables me to watch Formula 1 and MotoGP as well as shows my family loves for $30 a month!

I would like to see more than 28 days on the storage side. Its a small thing but if this could be pushed to 90 days that would be the icing on the cake!

  • Why isn’t Sony’s owned Crackle integrated into Playstation Vue? Makes no sense!

  • I want to get rid of cable but where is android support???? Would be great if it had the app on android with chromecast support. With an android tv app as well. I am sure your working on it, but please make it fast my contract with comcast ends soon and i do not want to stay with them!!

  • Add roku app and I’m sold

  • Is this going to be in 1080p if you have very fast internet??? I see no mention if its HD and if so, more importantly, 1080p.

  • So excited for the national market opening!!!!

Happy that PlayStation finally opened up their markets nationwide and is a big contender to SlingTv. I have just barely tried both versions and happy with the outlook, content and options that PlayStation vue opens up. While Sling has their cheaper price and additional channel options that make it look appealing, they loose out on PlayStation multiple streaming options and optional direct channel login. Meaning you don’t have to watch directly through the PlayStation vue application, you can go to the direct source and login into their site with PlayStation vue credentials to access the content you are interested in. THIS ALONE MAKES PLAYSTATION FAR BETTER THAN SLINGTV. The only thing I wish that PlayStation had was the A&E network(which SlingTv has), that has some great shows and other channels viewers would be interested in. PLAYSTATION IF YOU ARE LISTENING PLEASE ADD THESE SOON.

    Thanks,

  • I am in North East Ohio and my regional sports channel should be Fox Sports Ohio but I am only seeing Fox Sports Net. Why can I not access FSOH but it shows that I should be able to in your channel lineup online?

  • It’s great to see Vue available on other devices, but it feels like a large market is left untouched by not making Vue accessible on Roku. Will Vue come to Roku?

  • After having PS Vue for about 4 days over-all still pleased. Only bad thing has been tonight, it’s been skipping backwards a bit. So it keeps repeating stuff you’ve just seen and a few times it jump backwards by at least 5+ minutes.

Also, a couple times it said something about internet problem or something like that. Of course, I have 150 Mbps so not sure problems were on my side or not. Just hope whatever the issues were that they get fixed fast and stay fixed.

Still planning on giving it a true months worth starting this coming Monday. So as long as the problems either go away 100% or only happen a few small times then I’ll stick with it past the first paid month.

  • I have a Sony android tv, when can I expect support so Sony own platform…

  • If it’s any consolation I discovered you can activate any of the “tv anywhere” type apps with your Vue credentials. Im not sure about Google tv but I was able to activate a ton of apps on Apple TV and iOS (and I saw Roku as well). That sealed the deal for me.

  • How does vue not carry Sony movie channel!?!?
Also there is no customer service ( phone number.)

  • Trial offer is great but I have to wait For Roku app!!

  • When we will see support for Roku?

  • Roku support coming? I have three roku. Don’t want to buy a fire stick if not needed . Either way, this looks awesome and seems way better deal than sling when you throw in the cloud DVR. Woo!

  • All it needs is local channels and it’s bye bye cable and Satellite!
