PS Plus: Free Games for October 2015

One brutally difficult platformer, one heart-warming, coming-of-age story. This month’s PS Plus lineup has a great mix of flavors and you’ve come to the right place for the details! Starting on the first Tuesday of the month, a new lineup of free games comes to PlayStation Plus members, including Super Meat Boy and Broken Age on PS4.

Super Meat Boy will challenge even the most devoted platforming players with teeth-grinding levels, insane obstacles, horrible traps, and smiling chunks of meat. Yum! Can you stand against the gory onslaught of near-impossible tasks in Super Meat Boy? You’ll find out soon enough…

If that’s a little too intense, why not point and click at things, instead? Broken Age is joining the PS Plus lineup, too! In it, guide two teenagers through strangely similar circumstances but on two different worlds. With a gorgeous soundtrack and award-winning cast, Broken Age is perfect for gamers that grew up with the adventure genre. Or people that just want to hear some jokes. Jokes are always good.

Last thing! Driveclub PlayStation Plus Edition will no longer be available as a free download for Plus members starting on October 6th, 2015. If you haven’t downloaded it yet, be sure to go to PlayStation Store now before October 6th!

This is why I hate the internet. Entitled is right. $5 a month for online server upkeep people! One okay game a month thrown in for that price is fine by me. Sometimes they are even great (Don’t Starve and Rocket League come to mind.) There are so many good games overall these days who has time to play muchanyway? If AAA means another call of duty or assasins creed then no thank you.

This lineup sucks! Super Meat Boy!?!? That game is like 3 years old. That’s like Microsoft releasing Limbo on Xbox one! Give us real games not just crap because it comes from some “up and coming” edgy indy developer. Indie sucks! I want real games! Not the kind of **** I can make in my basement!!!
Indie games are like grunge music was in the 90’s. Record labels were signing “grunge’ bands or of Seattle whether they were good or not. If they had that “Seattle” label, they could be sold. That’s what we’re getting with indie games now. Stop the ****.

I think sony thinks we love indie games, really I don’t. I feel there’s some gems in the rough but very few. Why??? I look what xbox been offering and feeling shaded by what we are getting. It needs to change and backwards compatiblility would be very nice instead of ps now which seems like a bummer. I like to own physical copies than digital and ps now don’t even allow you to own a ps3 game really really sucks. Ps4 also needs more exclusives lock downs. Please change things or I maybe investing in another in the future.

Enough with the indies already. Paid $150 for 3 years of PS+ and the only “free” game I’ve enjoyed in the past 2 years was Rocket League. I honestly don’t feel the service is worth $50/yr for multiplayer, and don’t care at all for the other features (betas, online storage, and PSN discounts when I’ll only ever buy physical discs that are actually worth something).

I would like to see Killzone on ps4 or maybe even one of the new Wolfenstien. We haven’t had a AAA title in a while. But good variety with the the games lately.

Come on Sony, why all these Indies? Why do you do this with us? The last good game that came on Plus was Infamous First Light, and I didn’t even had my PS4 by the time it came out, now I only see one reason to stay paying for Plus, which is playing on-line, another thing that you messed up, come on, you already punished us enough with no reason at all, please do something about this.

  I’d have to agree, I’ve been a PlayStation + Subscriber since it’s inception and have gotten great free games in the past, all games I can no longer play since I upgraded to the PS4 (which I love) bit we’re going on 3 years since it’s release and we got maybe one great game for the system. I know in the beginning of the PS4 they really couldn’t give us great games but come on 3 years and all we get is indie garbage give us something good!

Very very bad update why cant we get retail disc games like Beyond two souls for PS3 or other games that are worth playing. Sick of all these indies very disappointed wish I wasn’t a member until 2018 that wasn’t a smart move by me. Also what is this taking down Driveclub so for all the plus members that downloaded it if we delete it than its gone? Thats not good I wasn’t in love with the game but it was ok at times to play it when I was bored. I hope next month is a big difference because for a while now these games are getting worse and worse and I don’t know what my 50 dollars per year on plus is doing.

This really sucks man last month was just 2D games except for twisted metal and now this month is only 2D games not a big fan of these games really wish we had a choice to decide what games we want and also Sony don’t know if it’s any trouble I’d like and some other people might like you to give us updates on some of the free 2 play games that are supposed to be released later this year

With all the haters out there I just want to say… thanks Playstation! I would never buy many of the games I’ve gotten for free and I can usually find something great to play each month. Even if I don’t, there is at least one awesome sale each month, like the anniversary sale in early September. Please keep the free games and awesome discounts coming!

  “I’m tried of it,” yeah, well this is the first time that PlayStation users will get to play it, due to them just getting it now, and you may be upset about it, but considering how it’s getting a whole new soundtrack, and how they are putting on PS Plus as a reward for those who waited, I think it’s pretty ****ing awesome of these guys. Can’t wait to play it tomorrow.

I totally agree with everyone else on here Sony. Why not give me a bunch of free triple A games to ignore while I play MGO this month, and Bloodborne DLC and FallOut 4 games next month. If you don’t start giving me top quality games for free that I will ignore while I play those games, well I will probably only subscribe to your service for another 5 or 6 years before I get fedd up enough to maybe consider quitting. Let that be a lesson to you Sony.

Look guys… Yes this may not be a AAA game but both of these games are very good. Broken age is a charming point and click who did in fairness have a worse second half. And super meat boy is one of the best and most challenging platformers ever created. I’m going to enjoy this month and please stop complaining about the lack of AAA games. Many indie games are better than AAA games.

  I have been gaming for over 32 years. I am gravely disappointed in the recent games on Plus, heck even Knack would have been cool. I already finished it, however some people might like the experience. I get it that you still rely on revenue from launch titles, but be generous and throw your audience a bone once in a while. When you launched the PS4, you touted by gamers for gamers and you listened to feedback to make the experience awesome. How about following your own words that you committed to. Making the experience for the gamers. I see all the comments about people not thinking the games are good, you can’t please everyone. However stick to your core promise to the gamers that believed in your systems, and give them something other than game styles that I played on my 8 bit or 16 bit systems. Just saying……….

To be honest I’m happy that we get Broken Age as it was a game that I’ve been wanting for a while. Super MeatBoy is also a great thing for me to try since I never had the chance to before. Everyone that complains, think of this, they let us vote last month and we all seemed to lean towards Grow Home. Everyone I talked to said they didn’t even download it as they were disappointed in the selection. Sooooo does that mean no one will be happy with what they bring out? I say this because even when we have a choice you all still whine like babies. For ps4 members you pay to play online they don’t have to give us anything… so be greatful for FREE games.

Now that the full lineup has been released, I have to agree with many people here that it’s rather weak. I know the AC IV Black Flag rumor turned out to be just that, a rumor, but this lineup really needed a AAA anchor. Indies are great but you can’t expect Plus members to be satisfied with just indies all the time. I already own Black Flag but I think that game would have made many folks happy. And there are so many PS4 AAA games that I’m sure would be well received on Plus, like Sleeping Dogs: DE, Watch Dogs, or one of the many titles that came to PS4 in it’s first year (what about Knack?). I just renewed both my Xbox Live and PSN subscriptions, I’m not going to waste my breath threatening to leave as I actually think I get great value out of the service overall, but truthfully, last month and this month are probably the weakest for IGC that I have seen, so I can understand why folks are a bit upset.

Super Meat Boy is kind of cool, but it’s a 5 year old indie game. Can you guys give something decent soon? Sony has failed to deliver on every promise of the PS4. Trading mine in for a steambox as soon as I can.

Alot of people are complaining about the practically FREE games, but Super meat boy is one of the best games I have ever played. I hate most indie games but super meat boy is the Mario of our generation probably. Extremely hard and extremely rewarding with the ability to be played without devoting hours to it (unless you have no self control like myself. With all of that being said, I probably won’t be downloading this month…..

The only thing that disappoints me this month is the lack of halloween theme. Costume Quest, one of the older survival horror games, or something with zombies would have been good. Other than that, I’m really looking forward to playing broken age, and I might play through super meat boy for the 3rd or 4th time cause why not.

I don’t normally comment but since you asked for feedback…

This is bottom-of-the barrel stuff here guys, are you even trying anymore? PS+ went from being one of the best things happening in gaming to being a laughing stock! I always thought that I would be a PS+ member for life because of the tremendous value it offered but after the PS4 launched and we are required to pay for it now, you just give us garbage month after month. Hopefully this is a turning point for PS+ and things will get better from here, if not, you can bet that I won’t be renewing my subscription! The only game I care to play online is Warframe and they have it as it should be, free!

I was already miffed at PlayStation with how they just dropped support for my favorite handheld, the Vita! Then to see this laughing stock of games for October just made things worse Just goes to show their slogan, “For the Gamers” is the biggest lie ever told! If you were truly ‘for the gamers’ you would support the “gamers” that bought your products!

ok for the last few months the selection has been medicore at best. how about helldivers pack? Or at least one of the lower rated PS4 Games,. For goodness sake xbox one had Tomb Raider Definative last month, and Walking Dead this month. Looks like another month to rest my PS4 and use my xbox one. Yet another reason not to renew my plus, and a reason to extend my xbox live.

Heck, even a launch game would have renewed the faith in PSN. if I wanted retro looking indie stuff, I would dust off my Genesis, or NES, or ATARI. As much as I agree with many here saying we shouldn’t complain. I never did but last 3-4 months were ridiculous. Can’t we get something like Killzone Shadowfall 2 years after it came out? I’m not into shooters but I will happily try it but not at full price.
The only AAA game we had since PS4 launched if not mistaken is DC Fighting game. I rather support indies by buying their games.

  I agree, except for not complaining. I have PS+ specifically for the free games and occasionally the sales. I don’t play online, so I have no other use for it besides free games and discounts. I HATE indie games. Most of them are crap, and not even close to something I’d want to play. They have invaded every gaming platform and basically taken over. The majority of the games available on PSN are indie games that I have to wade through to find the few AAA games.

Super Meat Boy? Boy, that game is old. I’m curious about Broken Age though.

In any case, what irks me most is the “first Tuesday” thing. Every other month seems to start with a Wed or Thu and when there is actually a month that starts on Tue or Mon they miss the deadline and we have to wait for another full week. Why is it so difficult to arrange for releasing the new games regularly on the 1st (or 2nd or 3rd, whatever) of the month? Besides, releases are not worldwide but here in Asia I get them a couple of days later as well.

I’d keep my opinion to myself if it wasn’t solicited

but since you asked. it’s hard for me not to feel disappointed in what ps+ has become.

it’s now a necessary service fee for accessing a critical component of the console I already paid you guys for, with a selection of games I am not interested in thrown in for good measure. I haven’t found a single IGC game interesting this year, and I own all three platforms.

I think requiring plus for online play was a mistake that will cost you guys next gen, if not before that. I invested in your console, and as a result I support sony licenses and publishing.. but you must realize that devaluing your service while simultaneously making it a requirement to access key components of the content I’m already paying for (online play) will undermine my loyalty and interest in the brand… and eventually you’ll lose all of my business as a result.

You did a terrible job of supporting the vita, and now I feel that you take advantage of the Playstation’s lead this gen by charging for basic services while reducing value. At this rate, there will come a time when I will most likely feel ok giving up Uncharted, Gravity Rush and even Bloodborne.

  While i must give you props for being one of the most well-spoken commenters on this post, i only have one grievance. The reason that sony had made the move to a paid online service is because they hope to provide better server security and stability in the future especially since PS4 sales have been HUGE. it isn’t that they are greedy, they just want help improving on a service that we previously enjoyed. Also, on the note of the games, i will be one of the first to admit that some of these line-ups have been lack luster, but i still feel that I personally could find at least one game a month that i would download and put some time into. Frankly, our subscription fees aren’t going to free games every month, they are going to help improve the services that we enjoy as PS4 users and just think of the indie games as icing on the cake.

Disappointed!!

I bought PS4 and PS+ several months ago and hoped that Sony will prove the fantastic graphic and game play in new next-gen. Finally, they introduced just some cartoon games recently with simple design and poor action like nintendo 90’s. How can Sony keep customers and subscribers go with them while they’s scrimp and don’t want to advertise good games every month.

I’m considering switching to Xbox after my PS+ is over.

Am i the only one to be super happy to get Broken age and Super meat boy on Vita ?

I mean good games are good games… AAA can be purchased cheap, as their price drop so fast.

Maybe some of you guys are so into steam that you enjoy mega rebates on indie games, but as a playstation gamer i dont, and i rejoice to be able to play some of the cream of the cream indie games for free.

Sony, it’s time to start adding AAA titles in every month. If you want to put Indies in, fine. But put an AAA PS4 title and a Indie title. AAA titles from almost two years ago are in the bargain bin now.

Right now, you’re giving people a reason to actually think EA Access is worth $30. They’ve started adding titles into their vault quicker like Hardline which will show up soon, TitanFall, and Dragon Age. That plus Live games for Gold means Xbox owners are getting better title selections for not much more money.

The argument against EA Access is that Plus is a better value. Well it hasn’t been if you’re going to fill it full of Indie titles every month that most aren’t looking to play in the first place.

I think I spent more on coffee today than on my PS Plus subscription for the entire month. PS Plus is a great value, especially if you own multiple consoles (PS4, PS3, Vita/Vita TV).

Would I pay four dollars to own these games? Possibly.
Would I pay four dollars to lease these games (because they are not actually free games from ps plus)? No way.

I would love more variety. I do not need any more 2d platformer/action/puzzlers.

Would it kill them to throw in a jrpg for vita? There are a gazillion of them to choose from!
