One brutally difficult platformer, one heart-warming, coming-of-age story. This month’s PS Plus lineup has a great mix of flavors and you’ve come to the right place for the details! Starting on the first Tuesday of the month, a new lineup of free games comes to PlayStation Plus members, including Super Meat Boy and Broken Age on PS4.

Super Meat Boy will challenge even the most devoted platforming players with teeth-grinding levels, insane obstacles, horrible traps, and smiling chunks of meat. Yum! Can you stand against the gory onslaught of near-impossible tasks in Super Meat Boy? You’ll find out soon enough…

PS Plus: October 2015

If that’s a little too intense, why not point and click at things, instead? Broken Age is joining the PS Plus lineup, too! In it, guide two teenagers through strangely similar circumstances but on two different worlds. With a gorgeous soundtrack and award-winning cast, Broken Age is perfect for gamers that grew up with the adventure genre. Or people that just want to hear some jokes. Jokes are always good.

Last thing! Driveclub PlayStation Plus Edition will no longer be available as a free download for Plus members starting on October 6th, 2015. If you haven’t downloaded it yet, be sure to go to PlayStation Store now before October 6th!

    The Good Will Is Lost
    I used to recommend the PlayStation ecosystem to friends because PlaystationPlus was a good value. Since the release of the PS4 the games have been best for such a small niche of gamers that despite the fact that there are 4 gamers in my household, the PS Plus games rarely get played. I can’t say that there is much of a reason to choose PlayStation over XBox or the computers anymore. Needless to say, I’m regretting pre-paying several years of a PlayStation Plus subscription.

    The lesson is that once a console maker becomes the market leader, they’ll screw you over because they think they can.

      They give you six games a month. That’s 72 games a year. At least 90% of those games are at least $10. With PS+ being $50 a year, you’re telling me that between 4 gamers, 5 out of 72 games aren’t enjoyed? That’s 7% of the lineup liked to consider the subscription worthwhile.

      Not to mention that online was moved behind a paywall to “improve PlayStation Network”, and yet it’s the same slow, flaky network that was free on PS3.

      Games for Gold is offering Valiant Hearts (we already got that), The Walking Dead Season 1 (who doesn’t already have that), The Walking Dead Season 1 (for Xbox 360) and MGSV Ground Zeroes (we already got that).

      You get good discounts with PS Plus, you get online backup of save files (which you don’t appreciate until a hard drive crashes because… life) the discounts alone save me plenty of money to pay it off. 20% off here, 30% off there, before you know it you’ve saved the $50.

      I bet most of the people who complain about the free games, would actually love them if they would get their head out of their chair. They aren’t bad games.

      PS plus is head over heels better with better quality than Games for Gold offers. 6 games versus 4, cross buy versus… giving out the same game twice… Heck when we got Dragon’s Crown for PS Plus (a game that isn’t cross-buy) we got it for both platforms and it counted as 1 game not 2!

      You have some dream world fantasy where somehow the other platform is better. Nintendo doesn’t have anywhere near as good a sales, or software licensing… It’s all a huge mess. Not to mention the Wii U is going to get semi replaced with the NX… Playstation is where it’s at.

      I feel you cause every Month its some dumb indie like ps4 already know they don’t have to care if customers complain cause they just sitting back counting our money idk about y’all but I pay 5 bucks a month and still have some pretty bad lag issues not as bad as ps3 but it’s still up there it would help if the thing that I use to be happy for didn’t turn into a 3$ indie give away like seriously if we wanted those games we could have paid the original 5$ and got them instead of paying for the online Sony just became Microsoft with worse games and worse service

      Anyone capable of rational thought knew it. Most people were too busy fanboying it up making jokes about the Xbox One and it’s ridiculous DRM to actually rally together and get Sony to not put PS4 online gameplay behind a paywall, though.

      That or they came up with the excuse that “well I pay for + anyway since it’s such good value so I don’t care”, completely oblivious to the fact that the value of + would decrease.

      Preach paid over 500 for the system and online and still awaiting greatness so far pc deals have been killing consoles after my subscription is over I’m selling my ps4 and buying a gaming pc or switching to Xbox

    If I didnt have to pay for ps plus to play online id cancel the service, I cant remember the last time we got an aaa title. Hell we only ever got one aaa title for ps4 ( Injustice). I used to look forward to the free games now i just wish i woulda went with X-BOX at least they get good games for Gold Memberships. SMH Sony wht the hell is the problem?

      I am pretty sure if Sony wanted to make you pay for PS Plus you would need it for all its features like Netflix Web browser and all its features that is not online play like X-box does, maybe it’s the game companies servers like Activision, 2k, EA, etc. are the real reason why you need the membership because they state they are more dedicated than the ps3 servers so you need a membership type to get on their server just like now you need to signin to there own account like the origin account from EA

    You people are crazy. You’re looking at it all the wrong way. Pretend you’re paying $50 a YEAR for the online service. That is a ridiculously reasonable price. Consider how much you pay for your cable and your cell phone each MONTH. Or consider how much your parents pay for your cable and your cell phone each month. You probably don’t know. Go ahead and ask them. Now that you’re back you should be more grateful. Then pretend that the 6 games you get each month are a free bonus. I just got Super Meatboy and Broken Age for free. That’s fantastic. Try playing them.

      Totally with you there, Squiggle55. Manicrage420, if you don’t want to pay for online, you can always go back to PS3 where online play is still free without a PS Plus subscription. I personally don’t play a lot of PS4 games online, but I often make use of their online features and stream my games, and for that, I get my money’s worth out of Plus. And when I do want to play online, I can expect a decent, reliable service, and when it’s not reliable I have the right to complain and Sony is obligated to fix it. That’s worth $50/year for me, the free games I look at as a bonus (half the time I already own them because I like playing good games, but I’ve gotten plenty of surprises too over the 3 years that I’ve been a subscriber). If you are paying for PS Plus just to get free games alone, then frankly, you’re wasting your money, unless you don’t buy any games ever. But who would pay for Plus exclusively to get free games and not use any of the other features (e.g. online play)? That would be a bit dense, wouldn’t it?

      $50 dollars a year is an absurd amount to pay to play games online on a console I already play for free on my pc. I pay for a net connection, and i pay for my game, then i play it online free on my pc, where as on console I pay for the game, pay for my net connection, then pay for the ability to play online so a console developer can milk its customers.

    If not for Broken Age October would be pitiful. Though I don’t feel every triple-A titles needs to be made free, I do feel that there should be better diversity – and I think Broken Age is a gentle step in that direction. But then there’s Meat Boy… hot on the heels of Rogue Legacy. Platformers aren’t the only flippin’ games out there!

    I don’t understand why I even read the comments section anymore. I guess I forgot that in order for a game to be good or successful, it has to be AAA. Man, I’m so angry that Playstation is giving us one of the most celebrated, highly rated and commercially successful indie games ever made. People are saying that these indies aren’t even “real” games, when most of these games have just as much, if not more character and content than half the AAA games out there. If you don’t like a tough-as-nails platformer, a physics based puzzler or a point-and-click adventure game, that is totally fine because I promise you that there are tons and tons of people who love these games. Just don’t degrade someone’s work because it doesn’t fit into the category of AAA.

    This lineup is just as good as last month’s, and even as good as the month before ( with rocket league). Cannot wait for Broken Age!

      For those of us with jobs, worrying about what free games we get for $5 per month is kind of a low priority. While yes, the free games lately have been nothing to write home about…who cares? It isn’t like you can legitimately lose sleep over not getting a free game every month for $5.

    Guys.. okay the games are not that great this month, but you guys complaining is ridiculous.
    Even if ps+ would only offer 1 game each month with a value of 5 Dollars it would get you a value of 60 dollars a year so it would be okay to pay 50 dollars for it.

    The games are not free, yes you pay for the service, but even with months like this if your not completely anti Indie, its still a good service.

    There arent that many ps4 games, so its just logical that there arent a lot of AAAs in the collection.
    i would love one too, but im sure we will get some when all the new games released.

    As someone who keeps renewing every month, I feel outright disappointed that this month were’ getting more indies. What about some more big name titles like Shadow of Mordor, Chrono Trigger? Come on Sony.

    I know you like giving us free games but stuff like this isn’t going to keep people on this service. I remember when PS+ actually had great games like Bioshock Infinite, Borderlands 2, Metro Last Light, etc. Step it up Sony.

    Please give us something better next month or I may not want to renew my membership. I really don’t. I ask Sony… for next month, give us some better games.

      We got Bioshock Infinite and Borderlands 2 only after most people had moved onto the PS4 and didn’t want to drag out their old consoles to play them. If you want a big market game, pay $60 and play just that game instead of paying $60 for a bunch of smaller games. They tend to give out 1-2 really solid big games per year, and that’s fine. Stuff like Rocket League that I never would have purchased on my own are just great bonuses.

    Realistically for me the games provided by PS+ are simply icing on the cake. I came back to the Playstation world after owning a 360 for years. So I was already used to the idea of having to pay for access to Multiplayer.

    And that is the primary reason for me being a PS+ subscriber. For multiplayer games. The game saves in the cloud thing is great too. And then games on top of it is nice. A lot of them are games that I have had a lot of fun with but probably wouldn’t have purchased without a chance to try it out first.

    Maybe this puts me in the minority.

    God, all these people complaining sound so petty and entitled. Look, you’re getting free games, if you don’t like it, tough, nobody cares. Personally, I’ve wanted to try both Super Meat Boy and Broken Age for awhile, so I’m excited. All these people threatening to cancel their subscription to play games online because the bonus free games they’re being offered aren’t up to snuff? Cry me a river. Yeah, some months are better than others, but free is free, folks. For a service that costs around $4/month, get off your high horses and just deal with it.

      They are not. I repeat NOT free games! The whole reason I chose Sony over Xbox originaly was because it did not charge for online usage and the only reason I chose PS Plus was because it was pay a small amount and get games monthly you guys who keeps saying we are entitled have it backwards you are stuck in the Xbox world of pay to play online and do not realize the PS Plus was to get games monthly when PlayStation 4 came out they also made it as an extra to make more people pay for PlayStation Plus by requiring it for network usage we are not the entitled ones you are the confused ones

      This is what you expect your money to be wasted on. I’ll say this again, PS+ was sold with the whole instant collection in mind, that was the initial purpose of the service. Paying for online started on the PS4, PS+ has been a thing since PS3 and the service was offered with the free games in mind, Indies were not a big thing on Plus but since Sony is not willing to pay for exclusivity, they sure won’t pay for AAA titles.
      Stop encouraging Sony please.

      My membership expired last year or something and I have no plan to renew either. Sony keeps shooting themselves in the foot. It’s gonna be a matter of time that console gaming will be defeated completely by Steam and mobile.

    No matter what game Sony give for free, at least half of ps+ subscriber will complain. Even if Sony give a AAA game every one, at least half of the subscriber will have no interest in the game given or they already have it or they don’t know the game and are afraid to at least try it before complaining.

    I’m happy about all the complain that this month IGC is generating, because it show Sony that they need to do a better job at teaching their fan to let go of their fear to try new and unknowed game.

    Game are just the medium through which we express joy. No amount of free AAA game will generate this joy if we don’t permit it to happen with indie games first. Sony is giving you (yes you!) the chance to sprout this joy of gaming in your life, do you want to?

      Have we all forgot how many discounted games we get for being a ps+ subscriber? I’ve been able to pick up playstation games an a steam level of hording. But seriously ps+ has tremendous value for the price and if they want to throw in a few cool games every month I’m all for it.

    Holy cow I can see why so many subscribers are not happy. Now that the PS4 requires Plus for online gameplay, Sony just slacks off with the terrible game choices. The PS4 is turning 2 soon and it’s high time it offered more than just Indies. Even the PS3 gets affected where it once got good AAA games. I think Sony is just cutting back to save money by just offering indie games. Xbox has way better games on offer.

    You know what I’d like to see in October? A horror or at least halloween themed game in the PS Plus lineup. I know there will probably be some sales, but I’d still like to see this reflected in the IGC as well.

    I’ll give meatboy a shot, not sure about some of these others though. Last month was a train wreck for me but that was the first time in a while I didn’t keep any games from the service. There is usually at least one per month worth keeping. My beef is not with indies but with the type of indies. It’s always side scrollers platformers or art games (music etc). Games like super exploding zoo are fun but I’d rather play it on vita than my ps4. Also when I read the descriptions of the games they don’t even sound fun. I liked binding of Issac rebirth and I’m assuming meatboy is similar so I’ll give it a shot.

    Anyway right no I’m playing 4 AAA games so these smaller indies will be good for a nice break inbetween my long mgsv missions.

    Wow, look at all the crying babies. I’m not going to even acknowledge those people that will cry about not getting free AAA games. You want to get more big games? How about you complain to developers to make their games free? That’s what Sony is doing for you every month. I’ll say I’m little disappointed that Chariot isn’t crossbuy with PS4, but whatever. I’m not going to be some baby about it. “Oh the games are like $1 games.” Yeah, well hey, you’re getting 72 games a year. Pretty good deal if you ask me.

      Most of the complaints here are well deserved. Ever heard of Steam? Ya can get 5 to 10 of these games for a buck. Plus used to be have better games but now…yea it’s bad, still not gonna renew that membership.

    I haven’t bothered downloading a PS Plus game since Rocket League and I’m not going to download any of these.Too many cutesy indie games, and I simply don’t have any interest in them. PS Plus is starting to feel like a rip-off–if Sony isn’t going to give us good games, at least offer a cheaper option to just play multiplayer.

    Oh my, this is what happens when you cut back on the deals and focus your PS Plus subscription to enable online play on the PS4. Why is the PS3 getting dragged down along with the PS4 and Vita with the horrible game titles?

    When I had a Xbox one I was so jelious of the free games ps4 was getting cause Xbox was not getting anything good. So I switched. Since then all of these free games have been garbage. It makes no sense.
