PS4 System Software Update 3.00 Out 9/30, Take a Visual Tour

The 3.00 system software update on PS4, codename: Kenshin, will be available to download starting tomorrow, September 30th. We want to extend our sincere thanks to everyone that participated in the beta. I want you to all know that we’ve listened. Your feedback made this system software update even better.

PS4 System Software Update 3.0

There are a lot of changes in this update, from entirely new features to UI enhancements. While we detailed its key features earlier this month, we wanted to give a visual tour of our favorite new additions. This update is focused on creating new ways to connect with friends and players around the world, expanding the social capabilities of the system even further.

Sharing video clips to Twitter: Now it’s easy to share video clips to Twitter directly from your PS4. You’ll see a new icon on the Upload Video Clip menu, nestled between Facebook and YouTube. Maximum video length is 10 seconds, though you’ll have the ability to trim longer clips. Don’t forget — you can double tap the Share button to start recording a video, and press it again to stop.

PlayStation Plus: We’ve made a dedicated section for PlayStation Plus, which you can access by clicking the big Plus icon on the top left corner of your PS4 home screen. Once there you can easily manage your membership, see the monthly free games to download, deals for PS Plus members, and all of the games you’ve redeemed through PS Plus on PS4.

YouTube live: You’ll see a new icon for YouTube on the Broadcast Gameplay Screen, accessible after hitting the Share button. Now you can live stream directly from your PS4 to YouTube. Livestreams will be viewable across YouTube.

PNG Screenshots: If you’d like your game screenshots to be in a higher quality format, you can now select PNG instead of JPEG. To access, press Share > Share Settings > Screenshot Settings > Image Format.

Events: A new hub for Events has been added to PS4, accessible from the home screen. This will give you an overview of activities taking place in the games you play most, as well as official broadcasts. For instance, here’s an in-game racing event taking place in Project Cars, which you can register for directly from the Events hub.

PS4 System Software Update 3.0

Improvements to Messages and Favorite Groups: We’ve improved Messages by making it easier to access groups of people you chat and play games with frequently. Once you’re added to or create a group, you’ll see the online status for friends, what games they are playing, and the option to message or chat in party all in one spot. When you add or create a new favorite group, they’ll appear in your Friends app under Favorite Groups for quick access. For example, you can see we have favorite groups for Call of Duty, Rocket League, and Destiny.

Communities: PS4 users will have the ability to create communities based around shared interests, like games, genres, and more. Communities include a message board with general discussion, screenshots shared by players, and the ability to join parties / games.

Stickers: From the PS4 system’s Messages app, you’ll see a new option for Stickers. The 3.00 update will contain stickers themed around Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, Knack, LittleBigPlanet 3, Resogun, and more. Instead of typing out a message, just send a sticker — like Drake looking at a watch, asking you to wait a minute.”

PS4 System Software Update 3.0

We’re constantly striving to make PS4 even better, and appreciate all the feedback! If you would like to submit an idea on how to improve the PlayStation experience, share it here. We will continue to make PS4 the best place to play.

We hope you enjoy the Kenshin update, and let us know what you think in the comments below!

  • Honestly I’m disappointed with this update. So many social features but not getting the features we NEED and REQUESTED.

    What I’m talking about is:

    1. FULL external HDD support to save games to. I now have a 2TB internal but I’m pretty sure it’s going to last me only another year or 2 tops.

    2. Friend online/offline notifications

    3. PS1/PS2 Classics support. If Microsoft can pull off BC so can Sony. I’m NEVER supporting PS Now. Ever.

    4. LET US CHANGE OUR PSN ID. Japanese players have been able to do this for years but the rest of the world can’t? This makes zero sense. And no the “trolls abusing it” excuse is a tired one when you can just put restrictions on it so no one can abuse it.

    5. Allow us to delete trophies regardless of percentage. Too many games have “startup trophies” and we can’t even get rid of them. It’s cluttering up the trophy list. This needs to be improved.

    6. Custom backgrounds and themes.

    7. Allow to purchase Avatars.

    8. FOLDERS!!!

    9. Let us sort and delete things from our download list! Is is too long that I have to take forever to find one thing on my list. This needs to be improved BADLY!

  • thank you for youtube streaming

  • Sorry, I don’t care about any of this, I just want the disk read errors fixed. It’s ridiculous to pay $400 for a brand new “state of the art” piece of hardware, only to get CE-34878-0 errors. I mean, really? If you cared more about a positive player experience than a paranoid monitoring of players for copyright etc. then maybe we’d get a game system that actually played games when you want it to. Novel idea, I know.

  • Also, just give us the ability to set our own Wallpaper. the current Themes you have on the storefront are atrocious. it looks like you hired a 12 year old with a spray can to make them. really? money stacks and skulls? LOL

    • This is the one thing I’ve been begging for for ages now. Why can’t we just make our screenshots the background Sony?!

    • It’s a separate company that does those horrible things I THINK. They are painfully ugly and juvenile.

What’s especially soul crushing about this update is the fact that they’re updating from JPEG to PNG for screenshot image quality.

That’s fantastic if there was something to do with them like, oh say I don’t know… Use them as a background? Nobody cares about your screenshots otherwise. i’ve taken hundreds that are all useless, compounded by the fact that every Trophy is now a screenshot… The handful I’ve shared to Facebook was me legit sharing something but mainly wanting to have it on my FB so I could grab it to my PC later.

Nobody cares about them but me really and I don’t really care about anyone elses. The only purpose they could have would be for backgrounds. OR maybe editing in a silly or interesting manner, but there aren’t any photo manipulation tools nor are we to expect any which brings me back to my first point. Backgrounds. I refuse to pay 3 or 4 bucks for a theme with a different background and horrible icons / sounds etc… The simplest solution is often the best, but there’s no way for them to monetize it so it’s likely we won’t see it.

  • All I want are custom wallpapers, avatar support, and folders.

External hard drive would be nice though, but I do know how to delete files so not the most important feature.

  • Please please add support for external harddrives like a 1 or 2TB drive, also friends coming online notifications and the option to play online without everyone on your list knowing you are online (if that’s possible)

    • This! External HDD support is a must in this Generation of Digital & 50gb game installs! I have a 2TB HDD (max allowed without adding some other hardware…) and it is FULL. I can’t buy or install any new games without Deleting other games I’ve paid for. The Wii U, the Xbox One and even last gen Xbox 360 all support this easy to implement feature. Please support your customers so that they can continue buying games from you.

  • Please allow us to individual backups individual games, game recording’s, Themes, and Image’s for the PlayStation 4 backups system with external hard drive? I’m currently 100% all digital on my PS4 and want to cut down on deleting game’s and having to redownload them over again. I currently bought all my PS4 titles off of the PlayStation Store as a digital download and hate wasting data and time just to re-download the game again if I want to go back and play it again. I want to just connect my external hard drive and copy a individual old game off or back to my PS4 without having to backup everything all at once just to make room for new game’s. I’ve currently maxed out a 500GB easily. It’s time you restructure the way PS4 owners back up game’s. #4ThePlayers

  • When are we going to see the popup notification when friends go online and offline?

  • All this tech and no folders? Wtf.

  • I like the sound of the PS+ section that shows “all of the games you’ve redeemed through PS Plus on PS4”. Any easier way to navigate that list would be great. This seems one step closer to the Steam Library that shows you all the games you own, but haven’t necessarily installed, given space is once again such a premium.

    • Yup, it’s really handy. Shows the current PS+ free games, sales, and the games you’ve redeemed. All in one convenient spot.

  • Also please take out the visuals in library when we delete a game, I don’t need to see what game I USED to have installed….some people may like this, I don’t..

  • Dear Sony, it is now 2015 and Playstation users are still unable to change thier psn id.. If for whatever reason you are unable to implement this or even refuse to, then please make an official statement as to why, cause xbox users have been enjoying that little feature for about 10 years now.. It’s ridiculous.

    • You keep asking for this and the answer is still no , they have already said the reason why they wont be doing it next time pay attention

    • I don’t know that reason, but whatever reason that might be, I’m pretty sure they can find a way to workaround it. They don’t do this because the community continues to support their product and the investment is not worthy for them. I’m starting to think how it would be like to change to XBox and I believe a lot of other people are too.

  • The new social features are ok (majority of which I’ll never use) but why is it that we STILL can’t change our gamertags.? Yeah, I might’ve had to pay a few dollars on XBOX, but at least I had the option..

And could we get some GOOD Free Games.?!? XBOX Live had Tomb Raider, Dishonored, and all kinds of cool **** MONTHS ago.. PS± has Billiards, Paper Mache bull****, and more bull****.. C’mon son -__-

    • You know PS3 got dishonored months ago right?

    • 1 Xbox 360 gets those, PS3 actually gets lots of games like that. Xbox One has the similiar lame titles for free, the catalog for current gen isn’t big enough or old enough for either company to give full retail games very often yet.

2 Xbox One is adding backwards compatibility so they can give old gen titles away soon. I bought a current gen system to play new games, not old ones so this matters not. I’ve already played those games, and most have gotten updated versions, so if I did miss one, I’d rather play the remaster.

  • These are all very cool updates and I’m glad that Sony continues to evolve the PS4 into an even better device. With that being said though, it’s very frustrating that features that are on my PS3 aren’t on the PS4. I’ve had the PS4 since launch and I’ve developed a pretty healthy library of games through PS+, flash sales, and just going out of my way to buy games that have just genuinely caught my interest, and the bigger my library gets the more frustrating it is that I can’t organize my games in some way. As it stands right now I just have a “games library” that just has everything lumped in together. Honestly, I’ve gone through there before and seen games I forgot I had because it was just hidden away in the group. If I could get the folder system back or something at least similar to it that allowed me to make my ps4 game collection cleaner and more organized that would be great and would honestly solve the only real problem that I personally have with the PS4.

  • I see nothing of value in this update why would I risk bricking my Ps4 for a bunch of social crap I din’t ask for and don’t want?

    • That doesnt mean other people didnt want these features either. You sound like a self centered pleb who thinks the world revolves around them.

    • I’m not gonna resort to name calling but you sound like you’re easily impressed by lackluster performance.

  • I am really liking what I`m reading. This update sounds like its going to bring a lot of nice features to ps4 so I am very excited to try out this new features you guys at playstation is giving us.

Now for ideas for improving. Nothing comes to mind.

But do have one request. Can you bring back themes of half naked women back that would be awesome.

  • yes and a very big feature that should’ve never been removed was friend notifications of online/offline. Who wants to keep checking to see when your buddies come online just so you can invite them?

    • I have a lot of friends so I appreciate not having notifications because they’d always pop up if not. However I love choice so I wish it was an option to turn on/off.

  • Can you please implement the ability to see trophies offline? I’m in the military and frequently deploy and trophy hunting without an internet connection kinda stinks. It’s like playing a game blind. Thanks.

  • Backward compatibility in the PS4 cant happen because of hardware limitations. It cant support PS1, 2 or 3 games natively (via hardware), so it would have to use software emulation which is a very resource intensive method and requires powerful hardware to pull off. Sony can’t just install a few updates and make the PS4 read older games. For example, to emulate a PS2 game the PS4 would have to run the game through a virtual PS2 on top of the PS4’s currently running OS. If you’ve ever emulated a console game on PC then you know how fickle it is to get one game functioning properly and running smooth. If you have a $2500 super gaming rig then yeah, it will emulate anything but the PS4 is a $400 console. My gaming PC cost $600 to build and the PS4 has comparable hardware. My PC can run PC games at 1080p at 30fps or better at all times because it natively supports them but it has trouble emulating a PS2 game at low quality settings and I don’t see the PS4 doing it better. Also PS3’s had optical drives with separate lasers for different discs, I’m not sure about the specifics of the PS4’s optical drive. This is over-generalized but should sum things up. If you have a question or I said something stupid let me know.

    • Either you are completely wrong or Sony must have rubbed a genie’s lamp, because…

We already know the PS4 is getting PS2 support. There have been leaks for Dark Cloud 2, Ape Escape 2, Siren, and Twisted Metal. Also, in November they are gonna have several of the PS2 Star Wars games available. The idea that the PS4 can’t emulate the PS2 is obviously false. And smartphones can emulate the PS1, so there is no reason not to have that support as well.

It’s happening. Why would you post all that nonsense about how the PS4 can’t do something that has already been leaked and confirmed to varying degrees?

    • Wrong. It is not hard. It is fairly easy for their dev team, considering they made their own API. The reason why they don’t do it is because they want everyone to repurchase ‘remastered’ versions of the old games and get back the millions spent on PS Plus Servers.

Microsoft did it, and they had the exact same limitations.

    • Ps4 should be able to run ps1 and ps2 games hell at the very least they can check if you own the game and make the psnow version free for you.

The ps3 wil not be emulated as it is a really complicated system so the only way is to do it for 1 game at a time which is basicly what a remaster is at this point and giving it away for free with the amount of resources required would be cost prohibitive thus they are sold as remeastered.

This is no reason not to offer the psnow version for free tho.

    • lol because of “hardware restrictions” a phone can run ps3 games with the right software. Sony are just asshats that don’t want it to be backwards compatible so they make more money off selling new games.

    • The ps4 is more than capable of backwards compatibility it has an 8 core processor evebe though it’s click speeds are low that doesn’t matter in the over all reference on how many cores it has the Ghz means nothing today its all about the cache the IPC and the cores and threads the processor can handle I can run a virtual machine on a PC with just 4gb of ram and a quad core processor at 1.8 Ghz with no problems you really need to do some checking on your facts before you make a post Sony doesn’t want to add backwards compatibility because they make more money off their game streaming service Xbox one has backwards compatibility and it has pretty much the same specifications so sir your argument is invalid

    • @Hannyah “Microsoft did it, and they had the exact same limitations.”

Incorrect. The PS3 Cell processor which made the PS3 so hard to make games for in the first place is what makes PS3 games far harder to emulate than the much more basic 360 games. And even them, MS didn’t manage to create a true 360 emulator, rather they’ve taken a select number of 360 games and modified them to run on XB1 hardware.

  • Hopefully in the “PlayStation Plus” section we can Delete games from our list? I accidentally downloaded some of the “FREE” (rentals) before I knew that I’d never be able to “Buy” them once I did that… I’d like to be able to disassociate them from my account so that I have the chance to “Buy” the ones I want.

  • Hopefully in the “PlayStation Plus” section we can Delete games from our list? Also… will this update fix the dang “Shutdown” errors & Auto-Ejecting disc problems??? Thanks.

  • Are Vita owners getting any of these updates? I’d at least like to have PNG screenshots…..

  • Can’t wait to turn off all these useless social features while I wait for basic functionality like friend online notifications, the ability to appear offline, and the ability to create my own home screen background (instead of being ripped off by the dozens of horrible $2-3 themes on the store).

  • The Internet browser’s mouse cursor is different. :P

  • Can we change our username/gamertag yet? No? Moving along…

  • Version 3 and still no notifications for when friends come online. I don’t get it.

Come on, Sony. I know it’s not a headline feature or an impressive bullet point that you can use to sway people over from other consoles, but please just put a person or two on it for the next update.

    • I feel like the reason they don’t do it is because if you have lets say 200 friends that would get rather annoying, however if you could set it for specific people that could, also i wish we could set the screen position of our notifications because in COD or other games with important info in the top left corner it gets blocked easily.

    • Of course if (or hopefully ‘when’) they add friend notifications, it should be an option you can turn off, as is the case with the other notifications currently on PS4. If they want to improve on the feature further they could allow you to choose which friends you want notifications for.

  • Sony I thought I bought a video game console but I guess I was wrong. Because you guys are turning it into a social media machine and I hate all that garbage. Real gamers don’t give a cap about social media please stop it or at least make a feature where I don’t have to have it in my console wasting memory space I could be using for something more important like I don’t know games Wichita is why I bought it in the first place. I might have to go buy a WII U they are the only company that cares about gamers.

    • Yep I agree, will said.

    • nico1323g, I guess you are one of those players that are not social (Not wanting to play or chat with others) and don’t want to share your experience (Screenshot your best moments) and or team up with other players. (Meet other players in the community.)

That’s what it sounds like to me there. That’s a problem.

  • A bunch of social things that I really don’t care. Is there any way to never create screenshots when I get a new trophy?

    • Actually yes! A setting has been added to 3.00 to disable auto screenshots when you get a new trophy. Press the SHARE button, select Share Settings, navigate to Screenshot Settings, and un-check the ‘automatic trophy screenshots’ box.

  • So, nothing really useful or mind-blowing. Personally I would love to be able to add or remove items from my dashboard. Having no control over the content displayed there is kind of annoying and being that it is the year 2015 and this being pretty much the only system that does not allow customization in such a simple way, I think you guys need to get on that.

  • A nice gift for my birthday (Sept 30th). Of course, what would be an amazing gift is that Metal Gear Solid V The Phantom Pain PS4 theme code. It would be nice for an lifelong loyal Sony fan and supporter, such as myself. *fingers crossed* ^_^

  • I’m not into social media. I would like to be able to EARN and VIEW my TROPHIES OFFLINE, custom themes, folders for games, would also be nice. Sony you guys should look into getting 1vs100 on the system.

    • The features you mentioned are the only ones that matter. People on here ask for the most trollish crap. Like the guy that says why can’t PS4 and PS3 COD players play together. There are so many obvious issues with that I can’t imagine fixing myself to even ask that question. An then the people who keep mentioning name change that has nothing to do with a firmware update. Not to mention numerous features people want because they don’t know how to us dlna.

    • why are some comments written in white text on a white background?
      so annoying

  • very disappointing update makes me sad Sony doesn’t listen

  • LET US CHANGE OUR PSN ID

    • AMEN to that!

    • yeah, your PSN ID is lame, hopefully you can change it soon ;)
      jk….
i mean i dont really care to change a PSN name but in a lot of cases it really does suck when you are 18 or something but still have an idiotic name you created when you were 13. im not saying thats your case or anything, what ever your reason you have for wanting to change your name is fine and your reasoning alone. but at this point it seems like sony just hasnt figured out how to add the feature without creating a problem of its own. hopefully it gets done eventually cause it would be nice to not have to hear about it anymore.

  • Why add social crap into video game console? Share on tweeter? who the heck uses tweeter? wth is going on? can anyone explain? its getting worst and worst! Only thing excited me is 10GB space and thats it. Sony, if u really want to achieve something you have to add backwards compatibility for ps3 games! So i can enjoy my ps3 games that i have once bought and got from ps+ on ps4.

    • So you’re just gonna fill up your entire console with PS3 games? Why buy a PS4 at all then if all you’re going to do is play last gen games? the console only comes with 500GB and I have a PS3 filled with 500GB of games, and I had to upgrade my pS4 to 2 TB and I’ve only got about half of that left.

2TB wouldn’t be enough if I was putting my PS3 collection on PS4 to have my full PS4 collection. What is so bad about having 2 consoles?

Not to mention the logistical nightmare that would be. It’s not like Microsoft has backwards compatibility, don’t mistake what they are doing as that. Imagine if you put in a Windows 98 game, and Windows 10 looked at it, and then downloaded a copy of that game from the store, and then you could ONLY play that digital copy if you had the physical disk in…. THAT IS NOT BACKWARDS COMPATIBILITY! That’s what Microsoft is doing.

That’s a cheap port job, to digital, with license acquisition.

It’s harder for Sony to do that because they went from a more PowerPC architecture (closer to a Mac computer) to a PC. So now you’re talking about putting in a Macintosh game into Linux and having that download a copy of that game, that you can only play when there is a disk in there…

    • Maybe its last gen console games, but there r lot of brilliant games that worth replaying. Who cares about your ps4 storage management?

    • Well, a lot of the games these days are multiplayer/community driven. The ones that last are generally big in the social space. Adding these kinds of features gives games, that lack community features, an opportunity to potentially shine in the same way.

As for backwards-compatibility I wish that was coming, but I won’t hold my breath on that, lol. If you look into it, you’ll notice the PS3’s cell processor is more powerful than the PS4’s current processor. The 360 is a lot more similar to the One than PS3 is to the PS4. Maybe if they work some magic by putting some of that workload on the GPU it could work out, but I’d shocked to see it happen.

    • Actually yes i would fill my hdd with psn games i purchased or got from ps+, i have an extensively large back log on ps3, but enjoy my ps4 to much to go back to the sluggish xmb. Storage management needs to be enhanced to a much more personal style. Actually supporting external hdd would be a god send since i am all digital. I have a 2tb and i have the majority of ps4 titles aside from sports and have had to delete games to free space. And still have more coming space is definitely an issue that has to be fixed with todays digital market

  • I am excited for the new streaming to youtube. I just started livestreaming and love it. (heinous823 on twitch and youtube) #shamelessplug

  • That’s nice, how about the ability to sort Trophy lists on the PS4 like you can with the PS3 & Vita? I’m sick of it being stuck on latest when I really want to have it in alphabetical order. And also, I’m talking about sorting the lists of games, not the trophies in each game, because I already know that you can sort those.

  • Other then the PS Plus add on this update is worthless!

    • Absolutely not worthless.

Millions of people are going to make groups of
      “PS Nation”
      “Destiny Friends”
      “MMO Clan”
      “Anime guys”
      “IRL Friends”

I for one am going to use the communities aspect fervently for Disgaea 5. I mean those games are deep, and you need people helping each other. Can’t wait to see what the Bloodborne Community will look like or Dark Souls 2. If you don’t think communities is a good feature, I think you’re not playing complex enough games.

    • Since there is no god, your gamertag is worthless!

It is a great update, streaming on Youtube is big for many of us. The other content has all been show before.

If you don’t like it, don’t use it.

    • Yeah i did not see a wow factory yet on the ps4 come on sony i enjoy your system dont get
Me wrong. But no backwards compatibility os to hard come on really. If Microsoft can do it im sure u guy can to. That hole it to hard and time consuming is kinda of stupid u and them and apple are the top technology companies out there and your tell me u can do it hmmm can u say corporate greed hmmm that for your fan want is backwards compatibility not this tweeter crap very few game really dond that useful. I can only see peoplw know “i just shot a lvl 1 guy and know im on to shooting a lvl 2 yaaaaa. Haha. SO YEA GET ON TOP OF BACKWARDS COMPATIBLITY OR START TO SEE YOUR SELL DROP BECAUSE PEOPLE SWITCH OVER TO XBOX BECAUSE THEY WONT TO PLAY THERE OLD FAVS. Im just say just look at the comment no one really see an oh my god this so cool seen the 2.0 update maybe.

    • In regards to the whole backwards compatibility thing, I find that kinda dumb. It would be cool to have it, but it’s not really a necessary feature. I’m not looking to buy a $399+ system just to play some PS3, PS2 games when I have another system that can do just that. I’m getting the PS4 to play PS4 games.

    • In regards to backward compatibility, turn on your PS3 or pay for PS NOW. I find booting up my PS3 the best solution ;)

  • There needs to be an option to appear “Offline”, “Busy” or “Away”. Come on already.

  • I rejoice that the tyranny of the JPEG has ended on PS4.

  • Is this update going to fix the friends online update…..it’s getting old that when I log in it locks the number associated with the friends online count. Says 6, actuality it is 13….

  • Excellent. Now if we could just get those pesky PS1 and PS2 classics along with PS1/2 Disc Backward Compatibility we’ll be all set.

  • So nothing good? how about external HDD support? or fix Share play because mine has not worked in months with 50 down and 10 up and all my friends / family in PA . and the Media player is dreadfully slow when streaming 100 gigs of music the list loading is the slow part.. This update is pointless if i want social media features I will hop on a pc… I really hope you keep dropping the ball so when its gets bad you will listen to the fans instead of doing it your way.

  • Where is the ps plus cloud space upgrade we were supposed to get. I get tons of messages every time I log on. Can’t upload save can’t upload save can’t upload save.

  • I suppose I am in the minority, but I play video games so that I don’t have to interact with other people hence none of this social engineering in the latest FW is of interest nor relevant to me.

I am sure that others – those with fragile egos as an example – will be thrilled though. :)

    • You do realize Twitch is extremely popular right? And lots of people love watching game walkthroughs on YouTube.

    • I, for one, salute you. Thanks, i really thought i was the only one who felt this way. I’m old and anti-social… PLEASE don’t ruin my only hobby Sony!

  • Great update, I enjoyed the beta. And yes I am glad that people can’t change their name. There are enough idiots on here as it is and having the ability to change your name over and over again could be a pain. My real question is, why would someone pick a name that they didn’t want, either you were young when you created it and now that your an adult it just doesn’t seem right, or you were a troll, created a troll name and know your stuck with it. I am truly trying to understand the real reason for wanting to change your name, anyone?

    • This “you were young when you created it and now that your an adult it just doesn’t seem right”.

    • Because I now go by a different name on every other network. Nobody knows me as my PSN name anymore. Is it that hard to fathom that someone might change in 9 years?

  • This is a really bad update. Why work on “nice to have” features like sharing on twitter when the basic features like sorting trophies and organizing your library into folders are not functional. Sony has its priorities this generation all twisted, from a lackluster first party support, to updating software features that only few people care about.

    • Well said. You’re 100% right…Sony turned into another Sony when the PS4 was announced.

    • How can a update be “really bad”? You have lost nothing and gained some things you may not realise you want yet.

I think you need to get a grip on reality. Take a look at the xbox one slow and laggy dashboard mess crammed full of adverts . ps4 has it good.

  • Burp

  • WE NEED CUSTOM FOLDERS, EXTERNAL DRIVE SUPPORT, AND PSN ID RENAMING (you can charge for it like MS). NOT MORE SOCIAL FLUFF.

    • This, this, and this.

I’m almost as excited about what my dog shat out yesterday as I am about the “awesome” new features rolling out of this update.

The lack of a PSN ID change option demonstrates a clear disconnect between Sony and its userbase (as well as simple reality). Most of us are not the people we were when we created our PSN IDs. Just GokuSephirothVegeta1995.

    • Thank you for saying it for me. The one thing that is on the bottom of the things you listed for me is the ID renaming, but everything else I’m with you 100%. NO MORE SOCIAL STUFF SONY. I would like a option to hide it or even better delete things like events. What do I need events for Sony?! I don’t care about this social **** as I game.

  • Is that it. What a load of RUBBISH. How much time have Sony developers wasted on this nonsense. I had hoped 3.0 update would bring major changes and features left out since the release of PS4, like bluetooth profiles for my very expensive bluetooth headset (this is the main thing I would like to see updated), ability to turn light bar off on controllers, updating screenshot and video qulity of games shown in PS store (current quality is so poor it misrepresents so many very good looking games). Support for higher resolutions would be good too but I’m fairly sure the PS4 is not powerful enough for this without dropping the framerates significantly.

  • Still need more storage for saves on PS Plus, curious why that feature was dropped. Still waiting for folders to organize games into, like on PS3 and Vita. New PS Plus section is cool, as well as being able to party up from a community page.

    • Awesome update. I wished I was on the beta.I would have added more features.

      Features we need:
-Blue-tooth Headset. We can connect up to 4 controllers. One of Them could be a Headset.
      -Folders for games
-Games are categorize by most recently played. Can they be changed manually?
-Multiple lines for games. I would made it easier to find games.

Everyone please use the share section to add whatever is missing. Everyone else will get to vote to add those ideas.

    • PS+ users on PS4 still get their cloud storage bumped up to 10GB today! No changes there.
