  • Although there are many GREAT games on this list. I cannot vote for any of them, because this list is missing the main one: SOCOM II: U.S. Navy SEALs!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Chrono cross and ff VII the b
    est and the only

  • This sure was a harder decision for me than deciding to get rid of my PS4.

  • So many children who haven’t played half of these.

I blame Sony for having a crappy 20th Anniversary Sale that didn’t even include half of the games on the list.

  • There is no need to look at the list because Final Fantasy VII is not only the greatest Playstation game of all time, it is the greatest game period.

I really hope they don’t break the remake by getting rid of turn-based battles.

  • This is one hell of a list to pick from. If if I was forced to choose I would say either Castlevania: Symphony of the Night or Final Fantasy VII. Both games that have been resold to death but I remember playing those the most on my PSone.

  • I voted for Twisted Metal 2 and Crash Team Racing. It’s so hard because I loved the whole Spyro trilogy, every Crash game, all the Twisted Metals(especially 1 & 2), and then some.

  • I hope Sony recognize how awesome and unique the Parasite Eve IP is , this survival horror RPG game is legendary and deserve more recognition MORE than FF7 or other games , i hope you revive it in a “legendary” way :P

  • You are missing the following games:

    – Kudelka
    – Galerian
    – Soul of the Samurai

On your list you have some best sellers + games generally at that time, they must become Remaster HD:

    – Resident Evil 1,2,3
    – Silent Hill
    – Vagrant Story
    – Dino Crisis 1,2
    – Parasite Eve 1,2
    – Rival Schools
    – Dark Stalkers 1,2,3
    – Metal Gear Solid
    – Final Fantasy I,II,III,IV,V,VI,VII,VIII,IX
    – Front Mission 3
    – Legend of Legaia
    – Ace Combat 1,2,3

  • It´s Alundra and Final Fantasy VIII for me.

  • MGS, MGS, MGS!!! :P

Metal Gear Solid 1+2+3+4+5 are all in the top 100 best reviewed games of all time according to Metacritic (of games on every system since the PS1 era). The only game series to care about sending a message about war/life/genetics/cloning/race/culture etc and at the same time being the most badass action+stealth series ever.

2 – Final Fantasy 7 (the only game to touch Metal Gear Solid 1 on the PS1 in terms of that EPIC feel)

3 – Resident Evil 2 (playing the game twice as both characters..campy zombie hunting and classic cheesy voice acting lol)

4 – Tomb Raider (grand worldwide adventure + crazy jumps and puzzles..paved the way for Uncharted)

5 – Gran Turismo (100+ cars and attention to driving physics and feel… if you love cars, you love gran turismo as a museum piece alone)

    • 6 – Crash Bandicoot 2 (hey plumber boy, hey mustache mannnn, we got a lil surrpriiise for youuuu;) lol, you GOTTA remember that commercial if you were a gamer during the ps1 era :) Every Naughty Dog game has that charm..that’s why they get those reviews. Comedy+lightheartedness+heart in all their games.

7 – Need For Speed 3 Hot Pursuit (Porsches+Ferraris+Lambos+traffic+cops+crazy speed, lighting, and action for a ps1 game, tense high speed racing heaven..some people say wipeout is fast..play NFS3 vs cops and traffic and see how fast and furious THAT is!)

8 – Medal of Honor: Underground (sound and atmosphere, enemies throwing grenades back at you, and shooting them Nazi helmets off hahaha)

9 – Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver (warping between worlds, sick!)

      10 – Castlevania Symphony of the Night ( 212% ?! )

So many great franchises…. in case any old developers see this, bring back:

DISRUPTOR (unique guns and more colorful worlds+characters than Resistance)

COLONY WARS (star wars deserves SOME competition, dont you think??;)

  • Voted for Final Fantasy IX and Silent Hill, two of my favorite games on the system. Though I have a feeling the overrated FFVII will win.

  • Colony Wars was a space opera that has never been equaled. We need a modern sequel badly, or at the very least to have it available on the PS3/Vita as a PS1 classic.

  • Suikoden 2!!! Followed closely by Symphony of the Night.

  • Suikoden and Legend of the Dragoon

  • The Legend of Dragoon & Resident Evil 2 they are in my heart ♥

  • This is unfair! I wanna vote in so many of these games! TTATT

  • What this list shows is how the PS1 changed modern gaming with 3D and games on disc.

  • I voted for The Legend of Dragoon not because I feel that it is the best playstation game, but because I was to see it in an HD Remake or get a sequel. Thank You

  • what about Psychic Detective and Fox Hunt. these were 2 of the earliest games on playstations launch which feature full motion video that was done on 8mm film.

  • It makes me super happy to see Breath of Fire III & IV on this poll! Such a shame that III isn’t available on PSN in North America though! The PSP version has been available digitally for over 5 years on Europe’s PSN. The game’s already in English, is there any way Sony can work with Capcom USA to bring this to the US for Vita/PSP/PlayStation TV???

  • The fact that someone acknowledges Azure Dreams exists makes me very happy.

    • Yeah. There are a a few games that I didn’t expect to see. Brigandine, Armored Core, Azure Dreams, Blood Omen, Grandia, King’s Field, Legend of Legaia, Nightmare Creatures, Omega Boost, etc

There are still a ton of games they’re missing though. They have Vagrant Story, but two notable releases are Ogre Battle and Tactics Ogre. They have other FromSoftware works, but Shadow Tower isn’t there. Arc the Lad is a Sony owned ip with three titles releasing on the PSX, the second one being one of the best in the genre. There were three Tecmo’s Deception games on the PSX. The Tales of games, Destiny and Eternia, which Namco has been releasing all the games lately. Most of Squaresoft’s games are there but not Threads of Fate or Ehrgeiz. Diablo but not Warcraft 2. Then a lot of good single games like Guardian’s Crusade, Kartia, Thousand Arms, Vanguard Bandits, Warhammer, etc.

  • Rival Schools. Now how about a reboot of that Sony? I know you guys are good friends with Ono so bring this up in the next meeting.

Remember this for the PS Experience this year.

  • Also do something with it Wild Arms or Legend of Legaia. It’s been YEARS!

  • This list shows the the first of two era’s in which Playstation dominated the home console market, and a time in which almost every game was a smash hit. To be honest, this is near impossible to decide because there isn’t just one or two games from Playstation that are the best of all time, rather it’s a collective group of games…well over 100. I participated in this vote due to my nostalgia for the past iterations of Playstation, when your console was really for the gamers.

  • So many games!… Thank you!

  • Crash Bandicoot and Spyro the Dragon series for me. These games were my childhood when I got my PSOne and yeah, I did spend a lot of time playing them.

PD: Sony, please give us a flash sale with all those classics games just to give us a chance to play them once again please ^^’

  • I pick FF 7 was awesome!!!!

And The legend of dragoon sooo great game!! :)

  • I made an account JUST to post here. Legend of Dragoon got my vote, it was at least one of the best games i’ve ever played. There are some really close ones so i cant really say it’s Legend of Dragoon no contest.

Right up there with Legend of Dragoon, I would also like to mention some other incredibly memorable PS1 games I played as a kid.

    – Legend of Legaia
    – Spyro 2 Ripto’s Rage
    – Final Fantasy 7, 8 and 9
    – Mega Man X4
    – Crono Cross
    – Metal Gear Solid
    – Monster rancher 2
    – Breath of Fire 4

But seriously Sony, make a Legend of Dragoon HQ remake already, and start working on a sequel and don’t mess it up! I do not own a PS4, but I would buy one just to play Legend of Dragoon if it was remade or if a sequel was ever made.

  • Really shocked to see Rival Schools on the list, but i voted for that. it was one of the first PS1 titles i own and played it a lot growing up with my siblings, and cousins! its a shame that nothing is really done with the series, or even a digital copy of the game. Also voted for Legend of Dragoon because it was the first PS1 RPG i played and enjoyed thoroughly!

  • Originally, I was gonna vote Xenogears. I played the hell out of the Japanese version, and since I could only read and understand SOME of what was going on, I didn’t get to know the whole story until I played the English/censored version. Being able to fight in AND out of mech against foes, in and out of mech – n9 other game before it, did it the way they had. However, my vote went to Castlevania: SotN. I also played the import before the American release. This game was like Super Metroid – an “Iga-vania” genre game to start a great number of others in the series AND others like them. I also felt MGS1 was worth the vote – did the import before the English one with that too. I voted for SotN for how big of an awesome twist it was to discover the Inverted Castle. Here I was, thinking the fun was almost ending when I found TWICE more game to play! The joy of NOT getting g spoilers from Facebook and the internet. Lol

  • Chrono Cross & Legend of Dragoon
    Both amazing!

  • All those titles and not a single mention of SOCOM 2? Oh well, at least you gave us a spot to write it in. Show SOCOM some love people!

  • Psone was a golden age for JRPG. I played and loved many but the Suikoden series is my all time favorite. Suikoden 1 is a solid game, but Suikoden II is a masterpiece! Anyone who loves RPGS but has never played the Suikoden Games should check them out! Totally worth it.

  • It’s a cruel thing show us all this goodies, and force us to choose only two… but i’ll do it! Metal gear solid; surely no one can claim to be a true Playstation fans without this game in his library: astounding, graphically over the top, with an incredible story and characters.
And a game that i love so much that i bought two copies, just to be sure and to play it via link system with my friends, and an entire memory card only for its savings, because i need to keep every model and emblem i make: Armored core. Best mech simulator ever. A game so deep in its playability that has still to find a real contender.
I’ll cry, however, for all those games that i can’t vote here: Castlevania: Symphony of the night, Legacy of Kain: Soul reaver, Omega boost, Gran turismo, IQ intelligent cube, Klonoa: door to Phantomile, Tekken series, Resident Evil series, Silent Hill… too many. This list, for me, is made almost entirely of imprescindible titles. I love you Playstation. I’ll forever love you, even if you’re died your daughter Playstation2 is still here to let me play your games (2 Ps2, just to be sure too). (continue)

    • I am so old that i see the dawn of videogaming, i played Pong in my house and Space invaders at the arcade, i played Intellivision and Spectrum, NES and MasterSystem, Snes, NeoGeo, i’ve played in Ms-Dos and with first accelerated graphic card, i played After Burner in the R-360, tryed first virtual reality, see the World Wide Web came to life, the videogames evolving from a nerdish features to cool mainstream media, console world corrupted (or saved?) by patches plague.
And i still love you, little gray box, i still remember with affect our first encounter in that little shop in Milan, and it’s not a childish memory that make you my favourite console ever, because i was already a grown man then; no, it’s because you’re still the console that started all this media circus, the console that take the videogames from childood to adulthood, the console that give us proof that videogames are arts and emotions and playability… all togheter.

      I love you.

  • My all time favorite ps1 games would be Spyro 1-3, I wish they could like make an hd version of those 3 spyro games, or at the very least put em on the ps store to download, that would be awesome.

  • Playstation One has so many great games. It’s hard to choose which is the best, most of them is great game. I vote for The Legend Of The Dragoon and Final Fantasy IX. I really hope they can make a sequel for The Legend of The Dragoon in PS4. With stunning graphic and excellent gameplay, of course with good story too.

  • Don’t make me choose… Okay I chose Gran Turismo 2.

  • Resident Evil 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    And
    Syphon Filter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    I Love these games~

  • Bushido Blade

    please let it back!!

  • Wow, not an easy task… RE2 and Dino Crisis then!

  • Spyro year of the dragon was the best game ever, why they havnt made a HD Version for the PS4 i will never know

  • Hardest decision of my life? You, Mr. Shuman, overestimate how difficult it is to tick a box beside Bushido Blade and one beside Harvest Moon: Back To Nature, and click vote. ;)

So glad (and surprised) to see that Harvest Moon: Back to Nature was up there. Maybe Natsume and/or Marvelous should see this poll and change their minds about giving us PlayStation gamers another true Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons game again.

I would also like to say that Dino Crisis 2, Bushido Blade 2 (actually better than the first, but I’d rather vote for the one that’s already received a vote), and Future Cop L.A.P.D. are all great runners up for this. :) The PlayStation was the beginning of gaming’s best age yet IMO, and S2,3,4,and Vita are continuing that trend (never got to try PSP, but I’m sure it was great too).

  • Dawn of gaming, you say…? I was also on the Intellivision, and I STILL have my Commodore VIC-20. That’s a computer before these hotrod computers with CASES! lol -This was from the age of video games on cassette tapes that looked like audio cassettes. It was also the age where the computer was ONLY a keyboard that you hooked up to a cathode ray tube television, using an RF connector. Yeah… We also used to drive horse less carriages with cranks to roll our windows up and down, and actually MEMORIZED phone numbers because we had rotary la dine telephones. Lol

  • Legacy of Kain series!
    Darius Gaiden

  • So many awesome games, at least 15 stuck out to me as possible greats. Since I can only choose 2 I decided to pick games that I still load up to this day, Castlevania: SotN and Twisted Metal 2.

  • Final fantasy 7 is the best game, it had everything you needed, an amazing storyline, a great mix of characters, a great levelling system and combat system, it paved the way for future generations of rpgs. Not to say older FF’s were not great either, but the depth that this game went into was a whole other level. The legend of dragoon being my second choice, wild arms was not far off though. I found TLOD was rarely known by many ps1 players, and a lot of my friends at school who had ps1 never knew of it, yet again it had a great story, system, characters and depth. Would love to see a ps4 remake or a sequel! We all know that these polls will be down to who likes what genre majority, so i was always going to vote rpgs even though i accept that there were many other great games on that list.

  • Tales of Eternia and Metal Gear Solid

  • Nightmare Creatures
