Beyond Eyes Out Tomorrow on PS4

Hey PlayStation.Blog readers! Together with independent developer Tiger & Squid, we’re excited to announce that the beautiful Beyond Eyes is heading to PS4 tomorrow!

Beyond Eyes

Beyond Eyes is a game about Rae, a young blind girl who uses her remaining senses to visualize the world around her in stunning watercolor.

Rae isn’t like most other girls. She lost her eyesight in a childhood accident and the experience has left her traumatized. Fearing loud noises and public places, she hardly ever leaves the comfort of her own house, taking comfort in the company of Nani, a cat that comes to visit Rae in her garden.

However, one day Nani goes missing, leaving you to guide Rae on her moving journey to be reunited with Nani and guard her from any danger she may encounter along the way.

Beyond Eyes will be able to download for PS4 on September 8th.

  • Can’t wait. It’ll look so good on my OLED TV and Vita.

  • A game dealing with action adventure through guiding a blind person. This a unique title indeed I like this.

  • Whoa, this comes as a surprise! I knew this game was coming eventually but never expected tomorrow!
    Looks visually spectacular! :)

  • No PS Vita = No Buy

  • So beautiful…

  • An indie game worth owning, finally. Great concept.

  • What do yah expect? Damn cats!

  • pretty, i been looking forward to this, didn’t know it was coming out so soon. I’ll have to check it out.

  • This is the worst game I’ve played this year. Don’t be fooled by how nice it looks.

  • @Monterossa you & everyone else complain about if a game doesn’t come to PS Vita your not buying it. Did you & everyone else support Deadman’s cross? Because it’s going offline at the end of this month. PS Vita owners need to support the games for the platform because if we don’t services cease to exist for PS Vita as well as games being made for it.

  • Any danger she may encounter along the way? So she could die?

  • Wow! What a pleasant surprise! I recall seeing this title, and genuinely thinking that it looked enticing, but thought that it was an exclusive to another system. I’m so glad that I’ll have the opportunity to play on PS4!

  • Awesome! Thought it would be tied to Xbox longer than this. Ready to give it a go.

  • This sounds pretty awesome.

  • Looks beautiful. Glad to see it coming to PS4 :-)

  • So this came out for Xbox a month ago! The developer is treating PS4 owners like third-class citizens (a Windoze version is also already available). No way I’m getting this leftover game.

    • Not sure if you know this, but it works both ways. Xbox just got Octodad after being on PS4 for months.

    • It really doesn’t matter when it comes to other consoles… it doesn’t alter the game when you end up getting it does it?

It’s a pity there aren’t more simultaneous releases, but it’s not really a big deal.

    • I have a feeling that +gadgester is being sarcastic and ripping on the ridiculous MS parity clause. At least, I hope he/she’s being sarcastic.

Anyhoo, this game looks visually stunning and is reminding me of The Unfinished Swan—which is a very good thing. I can’t wait to check this out.

  • I am very excited to see this on PS4. Can’t wait to play it.

  • Looking forward to checking this out — it’s a fascinating premise. It reminds of the blind man that can “see” by clicking — he makes pictures for himself of the environment kind of like bats do. It’s pretty amazing:

  • Oh neat! I’ve heard about this before, years ago on, like… IndieStatik or something. I’m looking forward to checking this out!

  • Glad it’s coming so soon(and at all)… but it’s really annoying that you guys keep coming out with these ‘HEY GUYS ITS OUT TOMORROW’ announcements. Getting real sick of it.

As an adult with a job, a house, a wife, and other considerations… sometimes I have to budget for games and these types of announcements really make that very difficult to do.

I would like to play this right away, but I can’t guarantee I’ll be able to squeeze it in this month’s finances. Whereas if you’d told me it was coming out today two weeks ago I could’ve made accommodations to allow for it. Please stop being so tightmouthed about release dates in the future. Not saying I won’t still buy it, but it’s a pity I can’t help support the people behind this potentially beautiful game right away just because the release date was kept so secret.

    • One of the lamest complaints I’ve ever heard in my life.

    • @Prime having a life is pretty lame, it’s true. But sadly, it’ll happen to you someday too.

    • Having a life is exactly why I could never feel such petty emotions over something so trivial.

The game isn’t going anywhere. It’ll be there whenever you finally save up the astronomical amount of money required to make such a life-changing purchase.

  • Another walking simulator from the wonderful and innovative world of indie game design. The hype is real with this one, the Xbox One version of this thought provoking masterpiece is sitting at a classy 59 on Metacritic.

  • Some of you might remember “The Unfinished Swan”. From what I’ve seen, is it me or does Beyond Eyes seem to borrow the same type of game aesthetic and mechanic? Whereas in Swan you revealed the majority of the landscape using blotches of paint (an idea then innovative), in Beyond Eyes you simply walk around to discover your surroundings; yes the protagonist is blind in this case but couldn’t something more have been done to enhance the gameplay?

It just appears to me like an indie devlopper trying to ride the wave that another has already 3 years ago.

  • Bought the game and it’s beautiful. Some of the graphics are a bit rough in places, will there be post-release support to fix up some of the glitches and framerate problems?
