How to Sign Up for the PS4 System Software Beta

Calling all PS4 fans! Before we launch our next major system software update, we’re running a beta program to test its functionality. If you’d like to get a sneak peek at the features of the new system software, and help us with feedback on ways to improve it, sign up today.

You can sign up to be a beta tester here. You will need a PS4 system (of course), an Internet connection, and a master account — sub-accounts cannot participate in the program. Make sure you’re a member of the PlayStation Forums in advance to get access to our beta forums. Also, beta testers will be able to roll back to the previous PS4 system software update (v2.57) anytime.

The beta program will start in early September, and we’ll have more information on the new features included at that time. We are accepting a limited number of beta testers, so if you’re interested, sign up sooner rather than later.

Thanks in advance for helping test the system software update — your feedback will go a long way toward making this even better.

What’s up with Support Page?
Every link there is dead, giving me this: We must not have gotten that quite right….It’s not you, it’s us. There seems to have been some sort of error disallowing us from satisfying your request. But don’t give up now, use the options below to see if we can help you with your issue.
I’m trying to contact support to set up repair service and I can’t do it.
Calling is not an option at the moment for me.

you guys need to step your game up. Xbox is getting major system updates every single month and got the preview program rolled out. ps4 hasnt gotten an update since March. Almost a half a year ago. we are still lacking basic features that the ps3 got like friend sign on notification and user wallpapers. we need friends list organization. updated Ui. better library. more streaming options like different overlays. a reliable psn. much more space for online storage. a better social experience overall (example user profile, whats new). a new ps store (it loads maybe 60% of the time for me). and a lot more cool innavatave stuff

  “Friend list organization”?… It’s in order of who’s online, and the alphabetical. What other kind of “organization” do you want? The PS4 doesn’t need an update, plain and simple, which is why it’s taken so long. And no, we don’t need the annoying friends online notifications. Why do you care so much about something that isn’t needed?

I know rollback of version is possible, but I would still be worried if it fully bricks the system. If it wasn’t for that, I’d have joined the second I heard this.

I’m loving my PS4, but it has a lot of room for improvement. It direly needs a major overhaul on the main UI and library organization.

I can understand if backwards compatibility with last gen is outside the system (PS Now being a solution). But a Vita can play PS1 games, the PS3 has access to PS2 games as well, but both platforms are missing on the PS4. Meanwhile the Xbox One is getting 360 support (and with that, there’d be no stopping them from going back to the original Xbox), and the Wii U has its (albeit spotty) Virtual Console service, and can even play Gamecube games if it’s Wii Mode function is soft modded correctly.

I can’t fathom why classic Playstation titles are missing, when it’s more than capable for a system that’s been out nearly 2 years already.

  the X1 doesn’t really have 360 support….. you can’t play from your 360 discs….. what you do is put the disc in, the X1 recognizes what game it is and UNLOCKS a “remastered” version of the 360 game that will work on the X1 for you to DOWNLOAD digitally……

  At least Microsoft is doing something to add a backwards compatibility solution to a problem which was originally thought impossible. I’m not an Xbox fan, especially after having 2 360s die on me, but I applaud them for that. Sony could learn a thing or two from this.
  
  At the very least Sony needs to add PS1 and PS2 Classics to the PS4 for local play because that PS Now just isn’t cutting it and the PS4 is MORE than capable of emulating them with a high degree of accuracy.

Signed up earlier when this was first posted. Would really like to get an invite. I’m in the Xbox Preview Program and enjoy that, but use my PS4 at least twice as much.

Also anyone wondering about the features, just Google PS4 3.0 beta. This was released in beta a couple weeks ago in Japan. Seems more features may be released but the main feature is YouTube streaming.

I really hope they add folders, it cant be that hard to recreate the library and allow us to add our games to it. I also hope for an updated media player because on my ps4 it onlu finds my server when i reboot my moden but the other devices find the server fine.
Lastly more notification options and i would be happy

Just reading the system software beta agreement and saw this in “SECTION 8. DISCLAIMER/LIABILITY LIMITATIONS”:

“IN NO EVENT WILL SCEI’S TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL DAMAGES EXCEED $10”
