Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 eSports Features Detailed

Hi gang – checking in from R&R to share a quick update from the folks at Treyarch regarding their esports plans for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3. Don’t forget: the beta kicks off on PS4 in just a couple of weeks – August 19th.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 eSports Features Detailed

Hello PlayStation Nation,

We’re excited to have the opportunity to be at Gamescom this year, showing off multiplayer at the Sony booth. Fans fill the halls of Gamescom like no other show in the world and it’s great to put our game in peoples’ hands like this.

Hopefully, you were able to tune into the live stream that we just completed with ESL where we shared more about our competitive agenda.

This is something that we’ve been really passionate about, even prior to Black Ops 2. The eSports scene is one that pushes performance to the limits and only by pushing to those limits have we been able to find what works and what doesn’t. Most importantly, we’ve been able to discern what sorts of features will enhance the experience for everyone.

Here are a few of the features that you can count on for Black Ops 3:

  • Arena: Next-level League Play, offering ranked, competitive play
  • Bans & Protects: Creates a meta-game around selection of content
  • Specialist Draft: A pre-match selection process
  • CODcaster Mode: Updated features include the new Quick Settings and player loadout widget, and return of fan favorites, X-Ray mode, Listen-In, and Full-Screen view
  • Game Modes: Uplink is in, along with perennial favorites like S&D, CTF and Hardpoint make their return

The only thing better than sharing our competitive feature set with you at Gamescom will be putting it in your hands on November 6.

In the meantime, feel free to follow @Treyarch for the latest studio news.

We look forward to seeing you online.

  • Looks like nearly every weapon is a 1 to 2 shot kill, boring, will pass and wait for reviews, one hit kills is not competative or skill based.

    • What do the perks look like? Commando, sleight of hand, and assassin coming back?

    • kinda like easier killing. Hate using half a clip on one person then reloading and dying

    • It is more competitive on the fact that you have to stay alive. You can’t just run thru gunfire and make it across, you actually have to stratagize a way thru. Half a clip to take someone down is ridiculous.

    • I’m actually looking forward to this call of duty. Much like BO1, and BO2, BO3 looks like a lot of gun skill and tactical planing is required, which is great! AW was just too much going on in game, exo suits , ex jump, over powered guns (ba27/asm1) I’m recalling looking forward to play arena

    • lol sure it is , Snipers do it all the time !

  • it feels like sony is trying to be like microsoft with all this cod crap is like owning an xbox.

    • Seriously, Ms is doing the things to bring in more customers while Sony is just sitting around waiting to be passed (and waiting to launch the Morpheus so they can immediately drop it) and they push this crap they have totally switched roles.

    • They are just promoting stuff the same way Microsoft does. CoD drives sales deal with it.

    • It’s not a matter of trying to be like MS. Cod is still a major seller (albeit it’s numbers drop year over year), and securing the exclusive marketing partnership and “first to get dlc” is major in certain territories. It’s the same thing as what they did with dlc in a way. While the PS4 is so successful that the Cod deal won’t necessarily be a deciding factor, it certainly won’t hurt.

    • I wonder if Activision is simply being a frontrunner. Seeing Call of Duty DLC now arrive first on PlayStation instead of Xbox reminds me of the cheerleader who only dates the captain of whatever team is in first place.

Personally, I think it’s a waste of money to pay to get DLC only one month early. Are people really that impatient? However, I do see the symbolic value, to show that PlayStation is now the preferred platform for CoD. Like it or not, CoD still outsells every other game except for Grand Theft Auto.

  • I’ve made $76,000 so far this year working online and I’m a full time student. Im using an online business opportunity I heard about and I’ve made such great money. It’s really user friendly and I’m just so happy that I found out about it.
    Heres what I do…—->> www.JobsBay24.Com

    • We are happy for you keep doing it and keep it to yourself , I’m sure no one gives a fk tbh , and to spam this wall with BS tells us all you aren’t the brightest bulb in the pack !

  • Please make every game mode available in Hard Core!!!

  • Is ban/protect just in its own mode or in all? Because if I can’t play a normal online game of COD, I’m canceling my preorder.

  • >Call of Duty

    lol wut.

  • just as Martha explained I am alarmed that a student able to earn $8185 in one month on the computer

  • Cool that competitive gaming is finally making a push on PS4. It is long overdue, but I haven’t been a fan of cod for quite some time now. Although this news makes me reconsider.

  • Good game

  • Go play BO1 if you want that feel bro , This looks nothing like it and i’m sure it isn’t gonna play like it either !
