Introducing Super Impossible Road on PS4

Hi all, Kevin from Wonderful Lasers here to announce a new take on futuristic racing games. Super Impossible Road is a racing game with a twist: it’s all about the shortcuts.

Everyone knows that in the future, there will be no accelerator or brake, no cheap lead-stealing power-ups, and thanks to on-the-fly procedural generation of tracks, no race line memorization.

And there definitely won’t be any rubber-banding: that’s right out.

So how do pilots of the future get the drop on their fellow racers? The answer is shortcuts, and lots of them. The only way to get ahead of your competitors is by taking huge leaps across the roller coaster-like speedway. These risky overtaking maneuvers can take you straight into the lead, or drop you mercilessly into the void.

The shortcut rule is simple. When you leave the track, you have around five seconds to touch down again, otherwise the screen will white out and you will re-spawn. And you’ll be re-spawned back at the last gate you went through, so you’d better make sure to roll through a gate here and there on the way down. It’s a simple system to understand, but it adds a lot of depth and strategy to race management.

I’m very excited to bring Super Impossible Road to PS4. Hopefully you will all like it too, and we can get enough players to get a tournament started!

  • Oooooh! This looks fun! It’s like marbles on Rainbow Road, except you can get rewarded for jumping off the side. lol I love it! Looking forward to this game. As always, I hope it comes to the VITA later as well. Everything’s fun on VITA cause of Life!

    • Hey, Kevin here. Not sure what happened with the video, but yeah it’s super important in order to get the hook. It’s just a whole race rather than a load of cuts, so you get the whole picture. It’s on the official website:

  • This looks and sounds fantastic! Yes, I too would like to see a demo video, but the concept is excellent! Any idea on when we might see this hit the store?

    • Hey thanks! The video is up there now, it’s just a whole race without cuts, so you should get a good idea of how all of this hangs together. As for release date, I’m still in the process of figuring that out. Will let you all know once I’m sure.

  • I have the original on iPad, and this looks like a great purchase for just about anyone. Excited to see the new added features to Super!

    • I have this game on my phone, and let me tell you, it is incredibly fun. Although, on the mobile version, there is no racing. You must pass gates to increase your score. So it got boring after a while, but know that they introduced racing into it, I think this will turn out to be an amazing and competitive game.

    Four player split screen make this a must buy. Nothing beats couch co-op or multiplayer.

    Somehow reminds me of Geon: Emotions on PS3 — did you guys play/develop that? (I’d *love* to see Geon on PS4/Vita!)

    what about support for stereo 3D? There was a game on PS3 called Puzzle Dimension that had some mind-bending perspective shifts that supported stereo 3D that added so much excitement and “aha!” factor to that game.

      1080p60 is the mantra. Even in 4-player split-screen mode.

  • Wow, it looks great! Quite a unique and original concept that could very well become a classic party game. It reminds me a bit of Monkey Ball mixed with the crazyness of Uniracers and Downhill Domination. Can’t wait to see more!
