We are embarking on what is very likely the greatest adventure in the history of Io-Interactive. By the time you’re reading this, we have revealed Hitman to the world as part of the PlayStation E3 2015 press conference.
And it sort of feels like that — familiar and yet completely new. For me, as the Creative Director at Io-Interactive, it’s an incredibly exciting place to be. It feels familiar because we’ve done this many times before. Hitman is the sixth game in the series we debuted 15 years ago and in many ways this feels like a perfectly distilled version of all the previous games, which is also why we chose to call the game simply Hitman. Everything is focused on delivering the purest assassin fantasy out there.
Agent 47 is back, he’s in his absolute prime, taking down high-profile and powerful targets around the world. How to get to those targets, how to take them down, and when to strike — it’s entirely up to you. We provide the sandboxes and the necessary tools, you provide the creativity. And, of course, Contracts Mode is also back, and PS4 owners will exclusively get 6 Unique Contracts! I cannot wait to see what you come up with this time as the levels are substantially larger and more complex than those in Hitman: Absolution.
But it also feels new, because it IS new. What we are launching on December 8th of this year is the foundation for the future of Hitman. We’re leading on digital for the first time and we’re looking at delivering a live experience that will grow and evolve over time. From the December launch and well into 2016 we’ll be going on a globetrotting adventure with the release of new locations, new targets, and new challenges for people to enjoy together.
We believe in delivering a true community experience, something that all fans of Hitman can look forward to together, speculate about together, and finally enjoy together. We plan on keeping everyone engaged with content throughout this first story arc, which means we’ll also deliver live events and live targets with a limited lifespan to keep you all busy (and on your toes because you don’t want to miss these hits) between the bigger releases.
Think of it as a conversation between us all where we examine what works and what can become even better. Because we’re in a live environment, we can make those adjustments a lot quicker than before and it’s probably one of the things that excites me the most about this new title.
Last but not least, we’re excited to announce that we’re giving PS4 owners console exclusive access to the beta when you pre-order. I am genuinely happy to embark on this new journey with all of you and can’t wait to share even more.
