It’s an even bigger show than usual! We sit down and talk with J from Bandai Namco Entertainment about Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin on PS4. We also hear about video game worlds our listeners would want to visit, killer sweet potato soup recipes, and — of course — more Bloodborne. Enjoy the show.

  • Enjoy the show!

  • Soup recipes? Count me in! I’m one trophy away from a Platinum on Bloodborne, but this Defiled Dungeon is killing me.

  • Stuff didn’t talk about: Monsterbag

  • 160 Episodes. Holy Shhhhhhhhhhhadowfax.

I remember when this show first started I wasn’t even in the same house I’m in now. Two of you weren’t even on the show and they used to give out free games all the time and play a mystery at the end of every episode. this Blogcast is missing a few of its beginning elements but it’s still just as great as ever.

alright time to give this a listen. I’ll be back later with my usual weekly feedback.

  • Mystery theme*

  • 160 Episodes now and I’ve enjoyed everyone of them now since the start. Glad to finally see Teslagrad arriving next week. I’ll be playing that along with Titan Souls and of course Mortal Kombat X.

  • If you guys have a chance to talk to J again, I’d ask if you might be able to ask him about some of the Japanese games which Bandai Namco have been publishing for PS Vita in that country – such as Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth, God Eater 2: Rage Burst (also released on PS4), and Sword Art Online: Lost Song (also published on PS3) – not least in terms of what the odds may be on seeing one or more of those games making it over to the West.

Speaking of SAO, I’d be curious to hear what his thoughts are on Hollow Fragment’s success as a digital download for Vita in North America, and whether or not that game has helped set a hopeful precedent for the future localization of other “niche” Japanese games published by Bandai Namco (and whether or not there would be a greater likelihood of them getting retail as well as digital versions going forward).

  • A PlayStation 4 podcast in a format incompatible with PlayStation 4 how inconvenient

  • I agree with number 6 above, if you get a chance next time, please be sure to ask about a God Eater 2: Rage Burst localization for PS4 and Vita (retail too hopefully lol)!

  • Another great episode for me to enjoy! Thanks!

  • Suggestions for the PS3

    1. More 99 cent flash sales please. Journey? Flower? Cubixx HD?
    2. PS3 games I’d like to see on Plus are The Evil Within, Alien: Isolation, Beyond: Two Souls, Jeopardy/Wheel of Fortune, Rayman Legends, Portal 2, RE Revelations 2, Trivial Pursuit Live!, Resident Evil, Monopoly Deal/Plus, Slender: The Arrival, and Valient Hearts: The Great War.
    3. The option to delete trophies and avatars. A filter for the download list to find things easier. A filter for the blog’s comment section to organize comments. The ability to respond to comments as well as edit your own. A wishlist feature for the Playstation Store.
    4. More free games like Jetpack Joyride.

  • Yes! We want God Eater 2 Rage Burst for North America.

  • let us swithc out psn names

  • Sweet potato soup is not my favorite thing. I would go so far as to say that I find it abhorrent. That being said, the ps blogcast may poor as much of the detestable auditory liquid down my earholes as they deem necessary for my enjoyment! Thanks for another episode!

  • Gradius V PS2 classic? Yes!!!

  • “So, J, you know… like the letter?”

“Dark Souls 2 The Remix was interesting, did an intern do that over a weekend?”

  • Hey guys, I wanna pitch in with the podcast time thing. I think how you’re all doing it is perfect. An hour and a half is perfect for this show, even going up to two hours is fine too!

A main complaint I’ve always had with Podcast Beyond was its seemingly strict 1 hour cutoff which seemed to make it end abruptly and unnaturally at times. I think what you’re doing now with the Blogcast is perfect as far as timing at around 90 mins, no need to change it in my opinion!

  • Now i kinda want a sequel to Brink :P

  • Thanks for my weekly dose of weird adjectives.

Game world I would not want to live in – let’s go with Fallout.

I really like the final fantasy talk weekly idea. I was huge into FFXI back in the day, and I really like hearing your enjoyment of the similar activities that I liked so much in that game. I would love to get into XIV, but I had an issue with the font size of the game while playing the beta. The only font that seemed adjustable was the chat window, and it seemed like all the other text on the hud (which there is a lot of) was so small that I couldn’t read it from my couch. Am I crazy? Has this been addressed at this point? I also wish they would go with a pay model similar to what ESO is going to do. I will absolutely pay for the “premium” monthly fee right off the bat, but I like the idea of being able to go free to play later on when other games I’m interested in pop up, so that I can keep my character, play a bit more casually, and not feel like I’m wasting my money monthly if I want to slow it down for a bit. The monthly fee MMO model really makes me feel like I have to go all or nothing with the games.

  • I had feedback but I forgot…

I will say as far as video game worlds NOT to live in… Dante’s Inferno would suck. I mean… it’s hell. Literally.

  • Since the trolling on the PS Blog won’t stop, I will copy and paste this hashtag on every single comment I post until it stops.

If possible, make sure you copy and paste on your comment so I know you’re not one of them.

  • Video games worlds not to live in: I’ll definitely go with Dead Space, and P. T. (if that house is any indication of how the rest of the world is). Oh yeah Mortal Kombat as well; hearing someone shout “Finish Him!” would literally be the death of me.

  • Great Blogcast as always guys, thanks! All you hard work and dedication to the show is really appreciated.

I have to tell you my favorite part of the show was Justin and Ryan’s Eorzean adventures. I’d love for that to become a regular feature of the Blogcast, if not every week, every other week. As a fellow Adventurer I’d love to be kept up to date on what you both are up too. Particularly we Heavensward so close. (I have a physical Collector’s Edition pre-ordered.) On that note, if you don’t mind me asking, what names do you play under and which server? I’d love to look you guys up on the Lodestone. Or if you’d like to talk about it on the show, what do you both main as? Justin you said you play Black Mage, is that still the case? And I don’t ever remember Ryan saying what Job he played. I play under the name Satoshi Shiba on the Faerie server. I primarily play as a Healer both White Mage and Scholar, but recently I’ve been transitioning to main-ing as a Paladin-tank. Anyways, good luck to both of you in your adventures! Hope to hear more about them soon!

Thanks again for such a great show!

  • Nice! I didn’t know there was a podcast here. Fantastic!

  • Another great blogcast with yet more bloodborne talk!! I´m still going strong with the game and trying to beat Ebrietas who I haven´t been able to defeat yet. I´ve finished the game and i´m quite far along on new game plus but that boss is just a pain for me.
I really appreciate you reading my comments, guys!
