The Order: 1886 Out Tomorrow, Watch the Launch Trailer

PlayStation Nation!

The wait is nearly over! Soon, The Order: 1886 will finally launch around the world, officially adding a new cast of characters to the PlayStation family. Ready at Dawn not only has created a marvelous new world for us to play in, but a new breed of hero. The knights of The Order are extraordinary warriors, but it’s important to remember they are still human. They tire, they feel pain, but they still stand up and persevere.

We hope this trailer captures a little bit of that and sets the stage for your next amazing PlayStation adventure.

Thank you so much for your support!

  • if we are to look at the big picture, the order is hovering at 65% on metacritic which means the reviews are utterly mixed. the game is not outright awful, but it is not great either. it is certainly not worth paying the full $60 for in my opinion, that much is certain. i would wait until it hits the $30 mark.

for those who enjoyed heavy rain and beyond: two souls, i think this game will fit the bill just fine. if anything, it looks as though the order was designed for such people in mind. that brings me to a question which has been a concern of mine for a while now: why didn’t sony market the order as a “david cage style” game rather than a cover based shooter from the very beginning? in other words, they should have marketed it as an adventure style game so that people wouldn’t make false assumptions as to what type of experience they were getting.

  • as it stands now, the biggest thing working against the order are the false expectations it created within the gaming community. that doesn’t mean the game is bad, it just means it is tailored towards a particular type of experience that not everyone will enjoy. not every game NEEDS to be for everyone, however. the developers wanted to give us a cinematic experience and they delivered just that. there is a big market for this genre of gaming even if it isn’t the most “popular” amongst the closed minded individuals who only understand games in the traditional sense. we get more than enough generic shooters, thanks… I would take this game over another shclocky shooter any day.

sony should be congratulated for taking the risk in trying something different in an otherwise stagnant AAA space, even if they didn’t quite pull it off flawlessly. even though the game could have turned out better, the order has the potential to be a very promising franchise in the future. fix the pacing issues, give the player more things to interact with during the linear sections and most importantly, include more gameplay. the foundation is very strong with this game, it just needs to balance the formula a little bit.

  • in addition to the great storytelling and voice acting, at the order has one major thing going for it that cannot be denied…. it looks incredible in every way. at least the game competently demonstrates what the ps4 can do graphically. i have yet to see any game that has produced such beautiful environments and paid so much attention to the details. the character models and overall production is first class. don’t let the unjust hate dampen your spirits, guys. this game is worth at least a 7. enjoy!

  • Quick question:

Was there a cut-off point for the online store edition’s bonuses? I’ve pre-ordered, and it’s trying to charge me for the theme, and soundtrack…

  • So I’ve been on the fence over this game, I almost got a pre order last night but considering the bonus are nothing spectacular or anything really at all. I figured I’d wait till it got reviewed… And honestly after reading a ton of reviews at work I’ve come to the conclusion that for what I like in a game, story and such the game does it in flying colors but I’m not loaded and knowing any game with reviews like that has a price tag destine to collapse which sadly means I’m waiting. Lucky for me at least it probably won’t be long and I’ll pick it up new.

Bloodborn does look awesome and also has worthless bonus DLC so waiting on that one too. Hopefully from soft will rock it again.

  • all that hype… and what a letdown. i’m so glad i passed on this and went out and got Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor and Dragon Age: Inquisition at discounted prices 2 days ago. never been an rpg fan, but willing to give most sites’ goty a go… and i’m enjoying Shadow of Mordor immensely. QTEs in 2015? maybe in bunches, but not to hold your hand and play the game FOR you. geez… how long people waited and drooled over this game. feel bad for y’all who pre-ordered it and picked it up. that’s 6 to 7 hours of your life you’ll never get back. but hey… look on the bright side. it’s only 6 or 7 hours, even if you take your time. :) the worst part? it’s a sony exclusive. that’s firepower in the hands of the enemy.

  • i love how everyone who bought the game is trying to point out the good things about it, as if they’re attempting to convince themselves they didn’t blow half of last week’s paycheck on a lemon, lol, instead of trying to convince others. “yep… it looks good… sitting in the garage. it’s when you actually try to steer it that you realize you have very little control.” :)

  • Having played this for three hours and only just finishing Chapter 3, I’m pretty sure it’ll take more than 6 hours to beat the game.

The collectibles aren’t just there to pick up. Newspapers can be read and explain the state of current affairs. Phonographs can be listened to and create lore and background. If you don’t stop and admire the scenery and how amazing everything looks as you move through the levels, you’re doing yourself a disservice. Not every game is meant to have 15 hours of gunfights to run straight through without looking at anything.
This has always been promoted as a cinematic experience. Complaining about cutscenes and QTEs now, at release, is the height of stupidity. Game length has nothing to do with price. They’ve been working on this game for years. The amount of effort put in to the game, and detail within the game, warrants a $60 price tag. If you don’t think so, then shut up and shove off. The rest of us couldn’t care less about your opinions, parroted from reviews. Way to go, letting other people tell you what to think.

  • @ jim488: Wow, really? Assuming it took people half a week to make enough to buy a game? People who make that little shouldn’t be buying games. This is not a cheap hobby. It took me a handful of hours to make enough to purchase my CE. It’s a lot easier to enjoy things when it doesn’t take forever to earn the money to buy them. Also, you tend to care less what other people (i.e. reviewers) think of a game, and just form your own opinion.

That being said, enjoy Mordor. That is indeed a fun game.

  • There is something wrong with Sony oversight on these products. Your two ambitious projects that are only on PS4, and new IP’s, have been pretty poorly done.

At some point the blame is going to go from Evolution and Ready At Dawn right into Sony’s lap.

I am looking forward to Bloodborne, and thankfully that isn’t first party but still exclusive. Get your act together, Yoshida and friends.

  • So when does the game come out?

    I’ve already watched this movie.

  • Microsoft still astroturfing hard with their legion of xbots, even on the comment section of the PS Blog.

  • If you are only going by critics, didn’t get a copy and then come here to complain about a game you are not gonna play, then you should stop, cuz you have no valid point. By all means the game could be crap, but the fact of the matter is that you don’t know and you won’t know, cuz you won’t play it. That said, I have never seen this slew of egregious reviews. It sounded like most of the 5-sub reviews were written out of spite, and for what reason? Traffic? Whatever, I’m picking up my copy today. For me, it works out great that it’s a sub-10 hour game. I’m a super busy person with very little time for gaming, unfortunately. But then again, if you can’t tell a story in 10 hours, then what are you doing?

  • Way too long for a movie.

  • I’d rather pay $60 for beautiful 5 hour game with an amazing story than $60 for a multiplayer only shell of a game like Evolve and Titanfall.

Picking up my CE today, Ready at Dawn you have my full support!

  • Oh and when I played it at PAX, it was an actual GAME. “Gears of Yore” is the best catchphrase ever made to describe this game.

  • ElektroDragon, you come off as an employee when you say things like that. Honestly. Everyone else is watching the same thing you are. At LEAST 60% of this game is watching. We paid full price for a game, to get a movie that is subpar at best so far.

  • The Order: 1886: I haven’t played it so I can’t comment on if it is incredible or if it is awful. Looks like a game I would like to play.
    .
Heavy Rain: 6 hour game that is mostly QTE and missions are extremely linear… and I loved every minute of the game. One of the better game experiences I had the entire run of my PS3.
    .
Now I just need to be able to play Galahad’s dad as he roams around shouting, Galahad? Galahad?!

  • Coffee is not Kool-Aid so stop dumping Sugar in it. My avatar came with GOW gost of sparta on PSP. NO CO-op or Multiplayer weird?

  • I’m glad I didn’t listen to reviews and tried this game it’s not innovative but is what’s is important fun and a good start to hopefully a long running franchise very happy with my purchase it’s seems a lot of people have forgotten why we play games for fun

  • DarthRayven, what game are you referring to? I’m about 2-3 hours in and I’ve been able to “play” for about 5 minutes. That’s simply outrageous. You’re right, we do pay for games so we can have fun. But we also play to have control over our character…otherwise we’re just watching a movie.

  • Very hype Sony!!!

  • I am certainly glad I learned my “DO NOT PRE-ORDER ANYTHING EVER” lesson from Driveclub. This game costs almost $10 an hour to play. Looks OK, I will pick it up when it hits $10 in a sale in a year or so, but no way am I paying $70 for a linear 8-hour QTE-fest.

  • Shadow_Self, you obviously didn’t play the game. The game took me 12 hours to beat. I loved this game from start to finish. Graphics and sound alone are a perfect 10/10. The story was very good as well. This game should be rated an 8/10.

  • Do you want to tell me I didn’t beat the game Lethal? Took about 7 hours, within 12 I already had the platinum trophy and that only took that long due to the ridiculous decision to make collectible items untraceable.

The game is getting scores relevant to its worth to the gaming world. It has no story, the gameplay is completely uninspired, and the only thing going for it is the fact it looks like what ALL games should look like on the PS4.

  • I rated The Order 1886 5 out of 5 stars. I find this game to be fantastic! The only negatives I saw was that it needed more action sequences and the black bars do suck it should have been full screen. That said I found all else to be Awesome! The graphics are the best there is, what gameplay action there was is great and I found the story to be incredible and I was so engrossed in it. The ending was definitely open for sequels and I hope this game sells well enough to warrant it. I really want to see this story through. I enjoy single player games alot I don’t play much online games so this was right up my alley. The game for me was as long as other story campaigns between 7 to 8 hours. The time complaints are total BS. I’m an old school gamer going all the way back to Atari 2600, NES and Sega Master system. I paid full price for many games that I could beat in under an hour Contra, Ninja Gaiden, Double Dragon etc.7 To 8 Hours is fine the story was great! Please make a sequel add more game play action and get rid of those black bars make it full screen. Everything else is job well done.

  • While this game is short, I would say its worth a play thru. I had fun getting to the end of the story and hope to see more in this world in the future.
