We are excited to announce that The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited edition will be arriving on PS4 on Tuesday, June 9th! This marks the first time in the series’ history that you’ll be able to play an Elder Scrolls game on PlayStation with your friends. Tamriel Unlimited features all the major updates that the game has seen on PC over the last year plus many important changes that will be rolling out in the coming months.

The biggest change coming with Tamriel Unlimited is that you will no longer need a game subscription to play! Because we are removing the requirement for a monthly game subscription, you will now need to ensure you have an active PSN account with PlayStation Plus to play ESO as long as you like.
If you’ve played ESO on PC, you’ll immediately notice the major changes made to the game’s user interface. The game now caters to your DualShock 4, and feels closer to experiences you’ve had with past Elder Scrolls games on consoles. One of our biggest changes arriving in time for ESO’s PS4 launch is the addition of the Champion and Justice systems. The Champion System is a totally new progression system for max-level characters, while the Justice System, which allows you to steal, murder, and be brought to justice if you’re caught! Stop there, criminal scum!
Tamriel Unlimited also debuts ESO’s new optional membership package, ESO Plus. With this premium membership service, players will be granted free access to all of the game’s DLC game packs; bonuses to XP, gold, and crafting; and a monthly allotment of Crowns to purchase items from the Crown Store. What’s the Crown Store, you ask? This is an all-new merchant store to ESO full of optional cosmetic and convenience items you can purchase for Crowns, a new currency allowing you to buy content directly from PlayStation Store. You’ll be able to fully enjoy ESO without being a member, but we think you’ll really enjoy the benefits if you have fun playing the game.
Those that don’t enroll in ESO Plus can still expect free patches that implement fixes and other improvements along with optional DLC offerings you can purchase to add more adventures to the already-enormous game.
Between now and the game’s launch, we’ve got plenty more to share on Tamriel Unlimited — including details on when you’ll first be able to play the game in Beta. On behalf of everyone at ZeniMax Online and Bethesda, we look forward to having our Elder Scrolls fans in the PlayStation community join our adventure. See you online in June!
So it’s another pay to win model.

This is what’s wrong with games today. You guys don’t care about making an online game where you just grind it out. You have to make it easy for people who are too lazy to do the work and will just throw $$ at you to help them along. Stop cash grabbing and give us a bug free game without a pay to win model.
This is great news!!
@51 So you expect them to maintain massive servers that costs a large amount for nothing? They already took away the subscription and offer other ways for people to help support keeping the servers up and running. I am not even that big of an Elder Scrolls fan, but am considering this anyway. If I enjoy it, I do not mind showing support so the servers do not end up getting shut down. They probably tried to work out other deals to get it so they could maintain the servers as it is.
@50 SilentNova
That’s not a jerk of a question at all. “Lifetime subscriptions” in MMOs are totally a thing. Star Trek Online had one.
Had a couple of friends get burned by that lol
I have two questions… I have ESO since launch on my PC and love it, so will PC version also be free because in the article it doesn’t specifically say it’s free for PC. Also with my second question, is ESO cross-platform. I have PC and a PS4 but I don’t feel like buying a second copy for the PS4 just to play with my friends. So is ESO free on PC? And also is ESO cross-platform?
This has just taken too long. I had the PS4 pre-order since day 1 and I finally cancelled it recently since all we’ve heard of for a year now are the delays. That what Beth’s actions, or rather inactions, have caused for someone who loved Skyrim so much that after getting the plat on PS3, I bought an Xbox to play it again, with voice command.
I’m going to wait and see on this now.
OMGallagher – When Tamriel Unlimited goes live on PC/Mac (March 17th), subscriptions will go away; only a game purchase will be required to play. Everyone who has purchased the game, whether they have an active subscription or not when we make the change, will be able to come back to the game and play.
ESO is not cross-platform. There is one North America megaserver and one European megaserver for PC/Mac. When the game launches on PS4, it will be much the same (one PS4 megaserver for North America, and one for Europe.)
So the game comes out a year after it was supposed to be launched on PS4….now they took out the sub after milking all the PC players. It has an awful 5.7 metacritic user score.
I remember trying the BETA it really was painful. If you are a fan of SKYRIM avoid this game!
if you want an honest review on this you can search youtube angry joe ESO review….
Do not support a DEV that does not take gamers seriously.
nice!!!!!! one question, will it be cross server? I mean, PC players will play with PS4 too?? and vice versa?
ESO will not be cross-platform. We currently have one North American megaserver and one European megaserver for PC/Mac. When we launch Tamriel Unlimited on PS4 on June 9th, there will also be one North American megaserver and one European megaserver solely for PS4 players.
