Some exclusions do apply, including subscriptions for PS Plus, Music Unlimited, PS Now and rental video content (update: game preorders are also excluded from this promotion, we apologize for the confusion). The code must be redeemed at checkout and discounted transaction completed before 1/26/15 at 9:00 AM.

AFTER the sale ends and its only good for three days? Wow you can shove it Sony. Thats not impressive in the slightest as an apology for the service that WE PAY FOR being offline for a week
Serious question: Will the PlayStation Network have the capacity to handle that many people signing on at once to use their discount? I would be willing to wager that the network goes down due to “large amounts of traffic,” again.
I will try to take advantage of the discount as there are things I want, but I might not be able to. Still glad for the 10% off either way. Not sure if I will honestly notice the five days added to PSN since I bought a couple of subscriptions to keep it going awhile, but I thank you Sony for that as well.
For everyone complaining, you got something when they honestly owed you nothing. The servers were attacked. You want a victim to give you compensation. Since most of you have no idea how this type of attack works. So they offer something which could promote more attacks since someone offered to reimburse in this situation. On top of that I was unlucky with my Live account personally since I could not get on Live until Sunday which was the same day I got back on PSN, but only one company offered anything.
As for the others who make the comment, well if they offer something it should be better. Just because you wanted more does not make this unfair compensation either.

One of the worst parts of this is in your rush to meet your self-imposed January time frame you hit before the last day of the month when a large number of people get paid. So…this will not help, as it is before the 31st (payday.) A shame, as I planned on getting several games as part of this and now will get none (and may just end up getting them on PC/Steam.) So money that I wanted to go to Sony for Console will most likely now go to a Steam sale later.
I do appreciate the effort-I just think the execution is flawed.
Can you add Life is Strange preorder by this Friday too? That and RE-Remastered are the two games I want. Would love to get an extra 10% discount on them!

You can’t place pre-orders into your cart. If you click on “pre-order”, it goes directly to the “place order” screen. That means that you can only use the discount on one pre-order.
I have not recieved any 10% off code, I never recieve any emails from Playstation by the way. Yes, I have checked my settings. I have clicked recieve notifications.
Why i can’t download the ps now theme i try a lot of time… please can you fix that?
We’ve been waiting so long for Apotheon, the only indie that has my curiosity truly peaked. It’s supposed to come out in January and yet we’ve heard nothing. Will Apotheon be available this week? If not, please put up Apotheon for pre order. I want to add this to my 10% order.
How is this supposed to apply to pre-orders? When I’m clicking on them now there is no “add to cart” option, only a confirm purchase dialog box pops up.
+ DeviantBoi you can’t even use it on one pre-order. If you try to pre-order something, it just goes straight to the final payment page and skips the basket screen that has the code field on it.
Is it true what has been said. If we use the 10% on a preorder, we can only use it on one item?

10% OVER ONLY ONE WEEKEND?! This way, sony is actually gonna make more money out os it’s costumers, since people will be buying stuff they don’t need, just to get the discount. They could at least give us one year to decide how we want to use it. This is no compensation. Is fooling us into believing we’re being compensated, in order to make even more money.
Yup. It’s true. Just tried it out on the online store. So if you use the 10% for a preorder, it will only work for the pre order not the rest of the cart. Or you can use it for the cart, but not the rest of the pre order. Sony, please fix this before you make this 10% available.

They specifically say it can be used for pre orders in there release statement though. They need to fix that. I want to use it for the Witcher.
So I contacted customer support this morning because I accidently pre-order uncharted trying to add it to my cart. This is what I got as a response.
“You: So let me get this straight. The 10% coupon if used to pre-order games can only be used for 1 game?
Rep: Yes that is correct. The discount will be applied only to one content you purchase.”
Looks like only 1 time use for pre-orders what I got from that and he couldn’t even tell me how to use it on a pre-order.
yay….. 10%…….. so I get something like DLC that’s ten bucks I save a WHOPPING DOLLAR! Whoopie!!! …………….. or save a whopping 5 bucks on a new $50 game. ………….. seriously Sony? This is your “deal” for compensation? 25% would have been reasonable. This is a joke….
Actually now that I think about it…. asking us to give you more money at a (miniscule) DISCOUNT as your APOLOGY for being so inept that you can’t stop DDOS attacks for an ENTIRE WEEK is NOT an apology. You might as well be bltch-slapping us….. Add to that the fact you waited until AFTER the 20th anniversary sale instead of adding it onto it makes it seem like more of a slap in the face. You knew most people would prolly have already spent some money in the sale and wouldn’t be able to even take advantage of your pathetic “apology”.
If you REALLY truly wanted to apologize for your incompetence, you could give everyone a free one-time download of any game or DLC or w/e totaling… $15. WITHOUT A TIME LIMIT! Just add 15 bucks to everyone’s wallet…. or maybe ten bucks.

How do use it for pre orders at all?
The statement also specifically uses “and” so we should be able to use it for pre orders AND add ons AND season passes AND etc.
Really guys, the last weekend of the month. I love giving you my money but I’m officially broke until payday with the anniversary sale. That being said love ya, and ill probably still buy something lol.

Sorry Sony. I do appreciate the gesture. I do. 10% on a one time cart purchase is great.
But please, make it work. Let us add everything we want to the cart (including the pre orders) and use the discount.
If this doesn’t work, just give us a discount up to $15 (10% of what our wallets can hold at any one time) for the time period. That would fix the issue.

I have just tried to pre-order a game through the website and it took me straight to the page with the Pre-Order (AKA Pay Now) button. There wasn’t any space to enter a code.
If I try to order something that is already available then there is a box to add a discount code.
I didn’t expect a limited time coupon. But whatever. I’ll either buy something or not, depends on the sale.
I do not like the very limited time the discount is good for. That being said, I’m getting my cart ready. I want that cart to include Grim Fandango, but it appears that at least on my mobile, I can’t add that to a cart, just purchase the pre-order.
Incidentally, I believe my Japanese PSN account received it’s discount code via email this morning.
Wait…are you guys serious?…I for one thought this compensation wasn’t even needed but if you’re gonna do it then do it right….seriously?…only over the weekend?…we should have 10% off to use whenever we want.

Kinda sucks because the only game im wanting to pre order is Project Cars and its not even on psn yet …
No 10% off on PS Plus? Wow, a discount on games we don’t care to play, and you still try to rip us off with Online Pay to Play. It should be like the PS3 and Vita. I vote to bring Online Passes back. We pay $400 for a PS4 gaming console, $60 for a controller, $60 for a game, anywhere from $30 to $200 for internet service, and you want us to pay extra just to play online? I thought you guys were better than Microsoft. I guess not.

I don’t get why people are being so whiny about this. So you don’t get an extra 10% off some existing sales that have ended, big whoop. You are getting a chance to take 10% off literally any game in the store. I know there are a few things I’ve wanted that have 0% chance of ever being on sale and I am very excited to be getting 10% off these games I’d otherwise have to pay full price for!
Stop being so damn greedy and enjoy the gift being given to you. If you don’t have anything you want to buy, then keep quiet and don’t use the code.
Also, what about us PSN users who were impacted over the holidays from the disruption of the Network who couldn’t access content from the Playstation store? For example, I purchased LittleBigPlanet 3 and was supposed to be able to download the Rare Launch T-Shirt Pack as seen in the user guides of the game here: http://userguides.eu.playstation.com/en/lbp3/ . Yet since the game was down, sadly I couldn’t get the DLC. This pack is no longer in the store and due to the network being down, I never had a fair chance of acquiring the DLC. Are you guys ever going to give us PSN users a chance to get this?

They have clearly said it is good for pre orders. And it’s for multiple items.
People are asking for the code – not having read the post or the answers to posts saying its coming later. Imagine what they’re going to do when they realize on the week end that it’s not going to work the way Sony HAS SAID it will work.
C’mon Sony. Figure out a way to give us the 10% discount without the code needing to be entered because otherwise pre orders will ALSO be EXCLUDED, even though it has clearly been stated several times it is included.
Where is the redeem code? I can’t find it on @playstation twitter page or at Playstation Store as suggested.
why there’s no discount for PS VITA are we really that different from the people who use PS4/PS3 its kinda unfair you know

@237 Some people have even complained about PSN store pricing not realizing Sony does not price the items. They only help promote the items in the store. As with any company the store itself often does not decide the sales. Like if an HP laptop goes on sale at Best Buy, that is actually HP making the sale price. The marketing teams choose when to do that since HP would pay Best Buy the difference in the case of the sale.
Though the extra PS+ discount is probably different. Also while it is true that Sony often offers better than 10%, like 237 said, many of the games I want rarely go on sale if ever.
I think everyone should get the 5 day Playstation plus extension. I bought a year plus membership for my PS4 that I got for Christmas and couldn’t even add it until the outage was over. There were 5 days that I couldn’t use my ps4 online at all during that time, let alone add my Plus card to my PSN account.
@Sid Shuman how do you do it? There’s so many whinners and complainers that I get annoyed reading these comments. Regardless of when the code is sent and how many days of ps+ I get, I still love my psn and ps4 experience. I, for one, don’t care if you give us 10%, a free game, 5 more days, or any of that. I know that it’s out of your control when these things happen and I don’t sit there and cry when it does happen. All in all, thanks for the extra 10% as it is unnecessary.
This makes me so mad that I can’t stand it! People you only missed five f’n days of online play! Sony is hooking us up with a 10% out of the goodness of their hearts and all anyone can do is complain and scream for more. Im ashamed for my playstation nation some of our flock are not grateful but hateful. People fail to realize the amount of work that goes into maintaining a network like this! Those guys were busting hump all through the holidays and does anyone here care for them, no it’s just gimme gimmie gimmie. Anniversary sale was awesome and had some 75% discounts so stop whining.
