Joe Danger 2 Coming to PS Vita on January 13th

Hello, PlayStation.Blog! Did you have a good Christmas? We did. We slept and slept so we could fully recover from working up to PlayStation Experience, and now we almost feel back to normal. And ready for 2015!

Joe Danger 2: The Movie

So let’s kick it off. We’re excited to announce that Joe Danger 2: The Movie for PS Vita will be released in North America on January 13th.

In Joe Danger 2 for Vita, we have some special guest appearances, courtesy of our friends and neighbours Media Molecule. From the lovely Tearaway we’ve got Atoi and Iota, and from LittleBigPlanet we’ve got Sackboy.

They join all nine of the mercs from Team Fortress 2 and Steve from Minecraft. These were part of the PC version, from where we’ve also brought across a special Minecraft stage for Movie Maker, Joe Danger 2’s level editing mode.

Weirdly, all this actually makes Joe Danger 2 for Vita the biggest-ever version of the game! Hours and hours of play await across 85 levels, including 15 from the Undead Movie Pack, which comes included in the Downloadable Tours section — plus a total of 35 playable characters.

And like JD on Vita, which we released back in September, Joe Danger 2 runs at a super-smooth 60 frames per second, and features ghost downloads so you always have something to race against, online leaderboards, and new Vita-tuned controls. Plus, you can create new levels in Movie Maker mode using touchscreen controls, and of course there’s a set of Trophies to earn.

Want to take a look at Joe Danger 2? Here’s our original trailer!

We hope you enjoy it! We’re going to close up shop for a bit now, but not to rest. Far from it. But we’ll talk again soon-ish! Have a happy New Year!

  • So No Man’s Sky for Vita is the logical next step, right? ;)

  • Looks great! Very excited to get some more Joe Danger. Feels perfect to play on the go. Great job. Also, can not wait for No Man’s Sky!

  • No Man’s Sky, Vita exclusive.

    Vita saved.

    World explodes.

  • No Man’s Sky for Vita..I can’t process this.

  • This game looks great though! Can’t wait to download it in the future.

  • I hopefully wish that comes true. No Man’s Sky on Vita… People will surely throw their money at it! Mine included :))

  • Hello Alex,

Joe Danger series is just awesome! Would you guys and gals please bring the entire series in one big bundle to the PS4 with maybe some added content and a few DS4 features. i.e. like using the light bar, touchpad, and DS4 speaker.

I wanted to ask if you guys would consider on making “Dynamic Themes” and “Avatar Pictures” for the PS4 based on “Joe Danger games” and also “No Mans Sky”. Your game’s would look cool displayed on everyone’s PS4.

    Rob aka Graf

P.S. Just to let you guys know I’m a long suffering fan of English Football Club Blackburn Rovers.

  • Give us no man’s sky for vita and we’ll buy every single game and dlc you release forever!

  • I don’t think NMS is possible on Vita. What we should be begging for from Sony is a port of Shadow Complex.

  • This is nice and all, especially seeing Sackboy and Iota there ha very cool…but will you guys ever migrate your servers of JD2 on PS3?…with the closure of gamespy servers JD2 online is gone and now there are 2 unobtainable trophies since you need the online server for it.

  • Awesome! Any chance we’ll see Joe Danger on PS4??

  • Im super excited for this. Im shocked they just didn’t put the first game on the ps vita. But I realized that patience is a virtue in the game world. So THANKS again for all your hard work and keep it up. You have MY FULL SUPPORT!.

  • The cast of Team Fortress 2 on a Joe Danger game?!?!? SOLD! XD

  • i doubt no mans sky could work on vita. so i dont know what everyone is getting so excited over.

thanks, hellogames, for bringing JD2 to vita, and including all this extra stuff from the other versions! and i continue to look forward on playing No Mans Sky on PS4.

  • So awesome to see Atoi from Tearaway in the loop!

Can we share levels between the PS3 and Vita versions of JD2?

It’s been a great couple of months for Create games on Vita, with Gravity Crash Ultra being released last month :)

  • +nYcFrEeWiLL82 (#12), they did, in fact, release the first game on the Vita. Check the PS Store on one, and you can find a download for the original Joe Danger pretty easily.

  • My nephews love Joe Danger – great game for kids but also a good challenge for everyone.. if you got a VITA, pick this game up!

I want No Man’s Sky though :P Not on VITA, on MORPHEUS! :P

  • I hate to be that guy, but NMS for the PS Vita is about as possible as Microsoft giving rights to Halo and Gears of War to Sony, or Nintendo giving rights to ANY of their exclusives to either Microsoft or Sony. Extremely impossible. The game is so huge, it would take, and I quote from HG, a literal lifetime before you have explored the entire universe of NMS. That is far more data for that game than the Vita will ever be in centuries! I don’t even know if that is an exaggeration or not anymore!

  • Awesome!

  • there people asking for no man’s sky on the vita.
man. I really hate people that are ignorant about technology and how it works. first off. no man’s sky will never work on the vita. NEVER. no way. its not possible dummies

  • That sounds fun. Will the PS3 version ever get these updates? Happy New Year!

  • Neat, Joe Danger 1 feels right at home on Vita and I’m sure the sequel will too! Any word on if JD2 will be cross buy for those who already have it on PS3?

  • That would be interesting to see(No Mans Sky Vita), would take a few dozen tricks though.

Easiest way would be day one Playstation Now support for No Mans Sky.
With a few subtle control tweaks for Vita users.

They could also scale down some of the visuals, but it may just be doable.
Best E3 surprise if they got it running.

Gonna have to give Joe Danger 2 a go though, really enjoyed the first one on the Vita.
