It’s Vita Time! 3PP Bringing More Titles to PS Vita

Hey PlayStation Fans,

Throughout 2014, the Third Party Production team has been working with our partners across the game industry to bring all kinds of exciting, diverse and fun titles to our favorite portable powerhouse.

During the PlayStation Experience keynote in Las Vegas, we announced some terrific new titles for the Vita: the legendary classics Suikoden I & II, the single screen competitive chaos of Towerfall: Ascension, the gorgeous Tactical Strategy RPG The Banner Saga, the ludicrous suburban Octopus simulator Octodad: Dadliest Catch, the craziest time traveling shooter of all time, Super Time Force Ultra and the latest entry in the legendary shambling zombie franchise, Resident Evil Revelations 2. All this and that’s not even including all the other great Vita content we announced, like, Bastion, Darkest Dungeon, Severed, Shovel Knight and Broken Age: the Complete Adventure.

Whether you’re into twitchy arcade action, deep strategy games with epic tales, or clumsy mollusks that have trouble with the most basic of tasks, there’s never been a better time to own a Vita. Check out more about the exciting games coming to my favorite video game machine Q1 2015

Super Time Force Ultra (PS4/Vita)
Are side-scrolling platformer/shooters too difficult for you? Too bad because Capy Games’ Super Time Force Ultra isn’t going to hold your hand through its bite-sized but intense levels. Luckily, you can rewind time, bring back fallen characters, and add their previous runs to your current one for absurd extra firepower (or just a little help to get past timing-based obstacles).

It’s Vita Time! 3PP Bringing More Titles to PS Vita

The just-announced Vita edition comes with bonus content like extra playable characters, including our very own Shuhei Yoshida, president of Worldwide Studios, Sony Computer Entertainment.

Towerfall: Ascension (PS4/Vita)
Perhaps shooting your friends in the head is more your style? In Towerfall, up to four players compete in arena-based combat, launching super-powered arrows at each other until only one (or one team) survives. It’s fast and addicting, and on the Vita! Along with Towerfall Ascension the new Dark World expansion content with new characters, levels, and power-ups will also be available for both Vita and PS4!

The Banner Saga (PS4/Vita)
The critically acclaimed strategy role-playing game is coming to the Vita. The Banner Saga features beautiful, hand-drawn art and animations; deep, tactical combat; and an epic story influenced by Viking legends that players can shape with their choices.

Octodad: Dadliest Catch (PS4/Vita)
Our eight-legged — and intentionally difficult to control — hero is back for the Vita, sloppily knocking over everything in his path as he attempts to complete normal, everyday tasks (like mowing the lawn or going grocery shopping). Octodad just wants to be a normal guy, after all, and live peacefully with his human wife and kids in this lighthearted and hilarious adventure.

Bringing More Titles to PlayStation Vita - Octodad

Broken Age (PS4/Vita)
The Complete Adventure is a love letter to the classic adventure games of the 90s, written by the creator of some of those famous games, Tim Schafer. The tiny title that became a Kickstarter juggernaut features two characters in independent, parallel stories—Vella, a young woman destined to be sacrificed to a giant monster and Shay, a young man coddled and overprotected on a mysterious space ship. Both Vella and Shay attempt to change their fate, but doing so sends their respective stories on a crash course into each other.

Resident Evil Revelations 2 (PS4/Vita)
Famous series protagonist Claire Redfield returns (and goes portable) in the latest release in the Revelations Franchise! The Vita version is being produced and digitally published by Third Party Production

Darkest Dungeon (PS4/Vita)
Darkest Dungeon focuses on the humanity and psychological vulnerability of the heroes and asks: What emotional toll does a life of adventure take? It is a game about hard trade-offs, nearly certain demise, and heroic acts. Prepare to experience an RPG like nothing you have played before.

It’s Vita Time! 3PP Bringing More Titles to PS Vita

Suikoden I & II (PS3/Vita)
The legendary PS1 RPGs are finally coming out West as Suikoden I & II make their PS1 Classic debut on Vita (and PS3) this coming Tuesday, December 9th thanks to our good friends at Konami and countless #BuildingTheList requests!

Suikoden II Coming to PSN

All of these titles will be released throughout the Spring of 2015. No Matter where you play and no matter what kind of games you love the Vita’s got something for everyone! • Thank you for bringing more games to the Vita! Will any of them be playable on the Vita TV? It’s really frustrating to hear about all these awesome things Vita users get, only to hear months later that I don’t get to play ’em. :/

  • I would like to say thank you guys for bringing these great games over to the Vita!

As for other games to bring over on PSN, I’d like to see:
    – Dark Cloud 1 and 2 (especially 2)
    – Tales of Destiny 2 (Tales of Eternia)
    – Chocobo’s Dungeon 2
    – Chocobo Racing
    – Dragon Warrior 7
    – Dragon Quest 8: Journey of the Cursed King
    – Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (Vita)
    – Crash Bandicoot 1 to 3 (Vita compatibility)
    …for PS3/PS4 and Vita.

Dragon Age or Oblivion for the Vita would certainly be interesting, as well as certain other exclusives/new IP. However, as long as the games comes out for both PS3/PS4 and Vita, then I’m happy and it’s probably better that way for everyone. Oh, and don’t forget VVVVVV with a level editor!

  • First of all, thank you very much for proving that there’s hope left for the PS Vita!

  • Standing ovation, Gio! You and your team’s hard work is paying off…I was blown away by the quality and quantity of games shown for the Vita today. From games I never thought would make it to the Vita (ie, RE: Revelations 2, Suikoden 2) to games I thought would never make it to PS at all (Super Time Force, Bastion), I was swooning over the amount of great games arriving for my favorite handheld. Truly, thank you for bringing this treasure trove of games to the Vita.

As for #BuildingTheList, I’d love to see more third-party HD remasters ported to Vita, particularly The Kingdom Hearts series, which I’ve never played. Also, the DMC series and Prince of Persia trilogy. I’d also like to see Pac-Man Championship Edition DX and other critically acclaimed indies (ie Journey) appear on the Vita. Thanks again!

  • 2- PSOne classics:

    Breath of Fire 3*
    Jade Cocoon
    Resident Evil: Survivor

    3- PSP ports:

    Breath of Fire 3*
    Final Fantasy Type-0
    Mega Man Powered UP
    Valkyria Chronicles 3

*It seems there’s some problems with bringing the PSOne version, and Capcom has mentioned that it might be more viable to localize the EU PSP port.

    4- Other ports:

    Azure Striker Gunvolt (3DS)
    Catherine (PS3)
    Final Fantasy XII HD (hinted)
    Final Fantasy Type-0 (PSP)
    The Guided Fate Paradox (PS3)
    Mugen Souls (PS3)
    Mugen Souls Z (PS3)
    Okami HD (PS3)
    Puppeteer (PS3)
    Resident Evil HD Remaster (PS3/PS4)
Resident Evil: Code Veronica HD (PS3)
    Resident Evil: Revelations HD (PS3)
    Strider (2014) (PS3/PS4)
    Time and Eternity (PS3)
The Witch And The Hundred Knight (PS3)
    Xenosaga HD Collection (hinted)
Zone of the Enders HD Collection (PS3)

Once again, thank you for showing support for the PS Vita.

  • What a joke. More indies/ports/digital only garbage. How about telling 1st/3rd party devs to start focusing less on graphics and more on content. Lower dev cost+higher consumer value=higher profit. Doesn’t get any simpler than that.

  • I’d really like to thank Gio Corsi and his team for their wonderful efforts.

  • That is like… wow… really nice
    BUT
I do want to see REAL games for Vita.
    Just like Resident Evil 2

Please do something… I don’t want to play a JRPG anymore.. I am a little bit fed up – I love Tales of Hearts R, but I really want some Western games, action, guns…
    Please

  • These games are really nice.
Would love to see big-budget games like inFamous, GTA, etc. EA/Ubisoft/Activision games are mostly desired.

  • I wish sony will make a more first party games

  • Kinda OT but thank you so much Gio for getting us Yakuza 5. This news made my year.

  • I don’t really understand this misconception that some how the words “indie game” are equal to “cheap mini games”. That idea is such a crock of bull****. Some of the best games I have ever played in my life over the past 10 years have been indie games. I personally am excited that they are becoming more mainstream than the AAA games because it encourages more people to get into game development and it encourages more diversity. Do you really want 9999 more “Dude Bro 360 No Scope Trickshot” games? Frankly I am sick of all that ****.

  • Does Suikoden 1&2 mean we are getting the PSP port in the US and can play it on the PS3? Because that would be dope, and explain why you never released it as a PS1 classic.

  • Glad to see that Revelations 2 will be released for Vita.

  • +Gio Corsi I would really like to see on my vita this list:
    Persona Q
    Persona 5
    Uncharted golden abyss sequel
    Gravity Rush sequel
    Twisted metal
    Crash bandicoot (new game)
    Gran turismo
    Tekken (new game)
    Soul sacrifice 2
Killzone trilogy with the same engine of K-mercenary
Ratchet & Clank into the Nexus
Little big planet karting new made for vita
Little big planet 3 or something new made for vita
    Silent Hill collection for Vita
    Ni no kuni for vita

Besides that list of games I would like to see more themes of characters not the crappy ones that are selling overpriced on the PSN, and Project Morpheus support for the PS Vita.
Thanks +Gio Corsi keep Vita love and please tell Sony that the Vita needs more marketing advertisements on tv and Internet for selling it well.

  • How about letting Sega know we want Valkyria 2 on the Vita.
Then let Square-Enix know we want Birth by Sleep and Crisis Core on Vita as well.
Thank you all for what you’ve done so far can’t wait to play Geometry Wars 3 and Suikoden on my Vita.

  • Any chance Revelations 2 is Cross buy?! Already bought and ready for PS4…but I somehow doubt it is.

  • Again elaborating on my previous post, core franchises are needed for the PS Vita to succeed and minimal effort. That are known to sell millions.
    GTA 5 port
    Call of Duty AW port
    Phantom Pain port
    God of War 3 port
    Gran Turismo 6 port
If your gonna port games make it the big established franchises and get Iron Galaxy or whoever to do in a few weeks or use the ps2 versions if easier.

Advertising campaign via youtube.com 1-2 million. Separate big releases like Resident Evil Revelations 2, Danganronpa Another Episode, God Eater 2, etc. each month for us fans to look forward to.

Make game carts of these games not just downloads I bet DBZ would have sold way better as a cart last year.

  • Have similar 3ds videos announcing whats coming next week/month on the vita. Not just the blog.

Theres tons of vita games coming out each week but never communicated or hyped up. Like how Nintendo is doing with Majora’s Mask announced months before release.

Decrease price of vita to $150 and make memory cards half price 64gb -$60 32gb -$30 16gb -$15. Bring out old big hits like Killzone, Uncharted, Tearaway greatest hits program for $19.99 like you did for past systems. A little effort to save the vita guys this system should be selling way better when you compare Killzone vs. the best of 3ds or Ipad games.

Bundle Revelations 2 with Vita for $150 with a special edition like Japan Vita’s get. I would’ve bought a limited Killzone Vita system if that came out.

And maybe one big “First Party” release each year like Killzone last year, Freedom wars this year, and I hope Gravity Rush 2 next year. And Hype it up!

  • Here’s my list of things for you guys to do:

Enable Crash and Spyro games to be playable on Vita
Put both Bloody Roar games up on the Vita store to download
Help make PS2 classics playable on Vita
Put Metal Gear Solid up for download in the Vita store to download
BRING THE 64GB MEMORY CARD TO THE STATES!!! 32 is NOT big enough!
Get Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII on the Vita store!

Now here’s what games I want to see come to Vita:
Gravity Rush 2 (All we saw was a video and 2 promo pictures, then nothing)
    Okami HD
Viewtiful Joe HD 1+2 or put them up as PS2 Classics
    Gran Turismo Vita
    Persona 5 on Vita

AND FOR THE LOVE OF GOD HELP SEGA LOCALIZE VALKYRIA CHRONICLES 3!!! Put the PSP version on there. Make it sub with English subtitles I don’t care!!! Just get it on there! Please?

    That is all.

  • Thank you (hey you! you, person(s) behind the scenes that are surely there, I mean YOU too!) very much for your efforts to bring these titles to the vita!

Suggestions, hm. #1 PS1 game Puchi Carat. It’s quick to pick up and it’s just as quick to stop playing when commuting. No idea how feasible a release of this old PS1 game – I don’t remember this ever reaching the shores of the US. It was released in EU territory for sure. At any rate, this game is well playable even without being able to read in-game text: simple and fun.

#2 PS1 game Legend of Legaia? Is it even possible for SCE to re-release this game on the PSN? LoL shaped the RPG-niche on the PS1 quite significantly, and it helped in making that formerly somewhat suspiciously eyed odd grey box into a game system accessible for ‘veteran’ RPG-players as well as offering a wider choice of games suited to families. It warrants to be called a ‘classic’.

#3ish It would be amazing to have the PS2 game Dark Cloud available on the US PSN. I enjoyed Dark Cloud 2 somewhat (it felt like an improvement in almost all aspects), but bringing the 1st game of the series to the US PSN (it is or was available on the Japanese PSN) in form of a PS2 classic would be very nice.

  • Suikoden, niiiice. It’s been a while. They should do a new one on PS4! ^_^
PS: Towerfall portable is looking really nice haha!

  • Sold my vita a few days ago. I got it on launch and no regrets after these announcements.

  • Awesome games. Thank you, now i’m definitely buying a PSVita.
Also can you guys bring Battleblock Theater, Crypt of the Necrodancer and localize Steins;Gate to the PSVita.
    You guys rock

  • I don’t really mind that these games are ports, I’m just glad that the Vita is finally getting attention from Sony. There are some games I would love to see here in the NA market and those would be the Phantasy Star games.

  • I get that people want more “real” games (not liking indie games doesn’t somehow stop them from being real games) on the Vita, but it’s time to be realistic. The Vita is almost 3 years old, and it has a global install-base of just over 10 million units. When the Vita WAS getting AAA games, none of them except Uncharted sold well. Killzone sold under 50k in its first month in NA, and Tearaway only sold sold about 14k in its first month. When your games don’t perform, developers pull support. I wish that wasn’t the case, but hey, I can’t force people to spend their money on things they obviously don’t want. The fact of the matter is, the Vita isn’t doing well enough to warrant much support, and you really shouldn’t expect it to get any at this point. If you aren’t satisfied by everything else the system is getting, sell it. Complaining about it isn’t going to accomplish anything, because it this point it really isn’t worth the risk. I love my Vita, and I buy and play more games on it than I do on any other system I own, but this is simply the way things are.

  • To all those knocking off indies as mini-games, try it first damn it.

At least @oversevethousand has better things to say.

Anyways as long as I get to play something. I don’t care about the “ports” comment. Vita is a portable device, and that alone makes it a significantly different port altogether (unless the game is ported from mobile platforms lol).

Oh yeah, something to add for 3PP: Keep it up. Add Digimon Cyber Sleuth to your list, bug Bandai Namco about it. That game’s awesome sauce.

  • I would love to see the onimusha series on vita. Also bushido blade games as well.

  • This is at least an effort, but much more is needed. Only step one….

  • I liked the support but we are tired of not getting AAA games for Vita.
Soul Sacrifice has potential, we need a sequel! This game is the killer game in PsVita!
Keiji Inafune, please, SOUL SACRIFICE 2!

And for Mr. Hideo Kojima. I am still waiting for Zone of the Enders on my PSVita, as promised when it was first announced.

For Capcom. We need a Monster Hunter and also a Devil May Cry collection.

For the LEGO developers, make the vita version on pair with ps3 version, Vita has such capabilities dont make alternate versions based on the lowest powered potable device on market, OK?!

Vita deserves much more than this! And dont tell me that Remoteplay and PSNow is the same as using ps3/4 in your hands, cause its not!
    I am done.

  • While the fact that Sony is even acknowledging Vita’s existence is astounding, I see nothing here aside from ports. Awesome ports, yes. But ports are NOT going to sell the console or get people excited. Where is the original, first party content?

  • Well done Sony, I just love my vita more and more!

  • Finally Suikoden games…now we wait for Breath of Fire III?

  • The only actual game announced is download only. Owning a Vita is suffering. :/

  • I’m gonna go out on a limb here, I don’t care how you do it, but get monster hunter on a PlayStation console. Hell I’ll buy a Vita just for the chance. But Nintendo’s control schemes are infuriating and the graphical fidelity is still on par with PlayStation 2 graphics. Please bring back the Rathians to the PS family.

  • Persona 5 on Vita would be amazing. Please try to make a Vita release happen!

  • I too would love Persona 5 on Vita.

  • I’ll take both Suikodens, port or not.

I agree with the relying on ports, mostly the PS1 generations. How about more PS4 era titles, if you are going to port?

  • FOR PS VITA I WANT

    localization request:
    Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth
    Lost Dimension
    DanganRonpa: Another Episode
The Stranger of the Village of the Sword
    Chaos Ring III
    Phantasy Star nova
    God Eater 2 Rage Burst
Yuki Yuna wa Yusha de Aru: Memory of the Sea of Trees
    Grand Knight History
    Tales of Innocent R
    Sword Art Online Lost Song
    Damascus Gear: Tokyo War Begins
    Assault Gunner
    Gundam Breaker 2

    Indie titols:
    Strength of Sword 3
Jacob Jones and the Bigfoot Mystery: EP. 2
    Banner Saga 2

    Porting:
    Xcom enemy unknown
    The Legend of Korra
    Final Fantasy Type-0 HD

  • I can’t believe how much negative there is in these comments. Such is the internet I guess. I’ve been holding off for a year and flip flopping back and forth on deciding if I needed to spend the $300 on a vita and decent memory. This support shown at psx has put it back in the “must have” category for me. I’ll be adding up Xmas gift cards to buy my vita on Dec 26th. Counting the days now.

    #LongLiveForVita

  • For those that are still crying about Sony not supporting the ps vita from what I seen at the playstation event there are new games as well & yes ports but it’s also games that people requested to play on the handheld. And with remote play you can play new ps4 games.People complain because that’s all they know how to do & what will it change nothing at the end of the day Lol.

  • And for those always unthankful if you want to nitpick the ps4,ps3, also have ports as well but you still own one of those systems so what’s the beef.

  • I have a question will Resident Evil Revelations 2 only be available as a download on the Vita or will there also be a physical version like on the PS3/4?

I mean I’m planning on purchasing it for the Vita, but a physical version would be greatly appreciated since it would save some of us some valuable space on our memory cards.

  • Thank you for Suikoden I and II, I have the original edition, but I’m happy for this edition!
More gamers want Tales of Innocence R, Phantasy Star NOVA and Digimon Cyber Sleuth (but not in digital!)

  • Ah…Chaos Rings The Prequel Trilogy

  • This is good and all but let’s be honest here. Most of these games are “Me too” games. Meaning they’re ports of games from other systems. The rest are all Indie games.

If I’m a consumer and I look at the Vita section at Walmart, Toys R’ Us or wherever, I won’t see MOST of these games on the shelf because MOST of these games won’t have a physical, retail copy. Compare the Vita section at most major retailers to the 3DS section…

What Vita DESPERATELY needs is for SONY THEMSELVES to get their worldwide 1st and 2nd party studios to build full, AAA, physical, retail versions of established PS franchises!

    – inFAMOUS
    – God of War
    – Another Uncharted
    – Another Killzone
    – Another Wipeout
    – Ratchet & Clank
    – Jak & Daxter
    – Another Sly Cooper
    – Bring back Dark Cloud
    – Bring back Ape Escape
    – Bring back Spyro
    – Bring back Crash Bandicoot
    – Twisted Metal

Add these games to your #BuildingTheList please!

  • There are dozens of other games and franchises that Sony STILL holds the rights to their IP’s and yet are doing NOTHING with them! Give each of the 14 internal worldwide studios a mandate to take one of these franchises and build a Vita game with them – NOT just port old versions of these franchises and digital-only, but ALL NEW games in these respective series – full physical, retail versions that consumers will actually SEE ON STORE SHELVES! = Greater Vita Sales! Wow what a concept there!

  • This is great! Seeing Yakuza 5 being published in the West (even if only as a digital download) it’s such a fantastic event. I’m really looking forward to Resident Evil Revelations 2 on Vita, it’s been a while since I started to prefer portable gaming than home gaming, for 1-player experiences.

Regarding #BuildingTheList, please bug Bandai Namco for Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth and Tales of Innocence R!

  • Dayumm!!! i hope for cross save in RE revelations 2
