Just to follow up, I currently don’t have a PS3 or a PS4, so yeah, how can I complain about those sales? I’ll happily buy most of those, if I have the system to play them on. But currently, I only have a Vita, so I get nothing. Entitlement? Not really. I don’t feel I’m entitled to complain about the sales since I think most of them are great, but I think I’m somehow entitled to complain that the one console I own didn’t get a single discounted game. That’s lack of support. I’m complaining about the lack of support here, and it’s not entitlement, it’s consumer’s opinion.
I saved money($150) for the black Friday sale and this happened? Good thing I didn’t buy three $50 PSN cards.
Sony, you’re just asking people to flip!
Maybe you’re just dodging Black Friday (PSN) because you can’t match Xbox’s sale OR maybe you had the “under the table with them”, then you’re just going to say sorry and release your “real supposed to be Black Friday” PSN sale.
Show us 1 source that claims digital content is more expensive, or even the same, to distribute. You can’t because there isn’t one. If you think keeping servers going so 1s and 0s can fly through the air like Willy Wonka is more expensive than everything associated with getting a product on a shelf… well, I dunno what to tell you. Digital is cheap and easy. We see the proof of this time and time again when an indie dev that would have no means by which to put his game in a store is able to cheaply and easily offer it online.
@Gamerzlimited
Complaining changes everything. What do you think happened to the Xbox One? And before you say, “oh people just didn’t buy it, they changed because it wasn’t selling , not because of complaining”, consider that the biggest changes were made to the DRM policy and features before it even hit the shelf. Complaining is a very healthy thing. That being said, this sale really sucks. It’s probably the worst flash sale I’ve seen since I’ve owned a PS4.
Evil Within and SOM is like $25 each (physical copy) at K-Mart and Best Buy. If you wanted to make a splash then u guys should have made it around $20 or the same price as your rivals. You guys didn’t even put Metro Redux which Amazon has for $25 dollars for the PS4. Also, not enough PS3 titles!!!
This is how you do a sell….. Metro 2033 $10, Metro Last Light $ 10 for PS4. Wolfenstein (which is not there) should be $20 dollars. Shadow of Mordor should be $23 dollars at least. Diablo 3 for the PS4 should be $30. I was hoping to see South Park: The Stick of Truth for like $15 bucks by now but noooooooooooooooooooooooo! U guys missed the mark big time!!! Who is running this dept ? I am not just salty because I have most of these games. I am mostly salty and disappointed of the prices. A lot of people will bite because they don’t have the game but I hope some of them realize these games are on sale tomorrow and that digital is suppose to be cheaper.
I’ve managed a few businesses before. Retail and hospitality. I know all about the shared costs of distribution (it’s incredibly inexpensive, and, yes, down to pennies in some cases, if multiple affiliates are cooperating). Consolidation is more prevalent than ever before. Distributors are ALWAYS looking for ways to cut costs, as is any business. Profit, well, survival is the name of the game. It’s a never-ending process…
On the other hand, I’ve seen the massive spikes in basic management and utility costs due to only a handful of extra liabilities added to a single affiliate’s ledger.
Desire for a product determines its market value more than anything else. For example, even if GTA 5 would have been a digital only release, it still would have sold the same or near the same amount of copies because fans of the series would have to have it, regardless. Tangibility isn’t really the cornerstone that you believe, here. In other, more essential industries, yes. In the world of digital media and entertainment, no.
First you always make sales with 15-25 games for ps3/ps4 and 2-4 games for psvita… But now ZERO GAMES FOR PSVITA??? The guys in charge lf making the sales are just reetarded sony, please fire them and hire people with brains… how much can you hate your own customers?? Ah?? We give you our money for a pretty expensive handheld console instead of buying a 3ds and that’s how you treat us?? Of course you don’t care about what a bunch of users say here… You don’t even look at our petitions or thoughts anywhere… You have so much money… Billions and billions of dollars so you can treat us like garbage and nobody care right?? Right sony??? Merry xmas to any1 except those who own a vita, fk them… You don’t deserve our money sony… Hope the next year you treat us a little better at least… -_-
Don’t update the blog until ALL releases from past weeks are accounted for. Still waiting on rocksmith dlc from 11/18. I don’t care if I’m the only one who plays it this is BS. Everyone else gets to play the dlc or the lesser priced PACKED dlc. We should atleast get a discount on the mess up from sony for having to wait.
Damn sony these sales suck y’all must want to lose black friday to the xbox not lowering the price on the PS4 bundles and crappy black friday sales. I”m better off getting the wolf among us for cheaper else where smmfh. Where’s the passion and drive to compete dang a year at the top and these sells are like a laugh in the face!
@primero that’s why we pay 50$ a year for right? They get lots of money from plus enough to pay these technicians.plus the ps store workers are the same from the overall psn workers.
**FOR EVERYONE ASKING WHY DIGITAL IS MORE EXPENSIVE THAN PHYSICAL**
KEEP IN MIND THE LOGIC IS COMPLETELY BASS-ACKWARDS AND IS DICTATED BY ECONOMICS, NOT LOGIC
PHYSICAL:
– disc, case, and artwork must be manufactured, packaged, shipped, received, stocked, and sold
– shops have limited space and must constantly shuffle things around to ensure that whatever “the new thing” is, it will be promoted
DIGITAL:
– data gets uploaded to a server
IT’S AS SIMPLE AS THAT!!
even though physical has WAAAAAYYY more overhead cost, it is at the mercy of the industry and trends, digital sits on a server and requires very little upkeep from then on
a while back I wanted to get the digital Prince of Persia HD Trilogy, but costs $15 PER GAME, I went to gamestop and bought the physical copy and paid only $18.
The bottom line is that Sony knows it doesn’t have to move any merchandise with the digital version, the reason they keep the digital prices so high is because they can. end of story…
Plus when Nintendo was asked why Digital was cheaper since it costs less they didn’t say it costs the same. They said software is software and its the same game. Saying digital costs the same if true would’ve been by far the best answer but they didnt say it.
I’m not sure why you’re trying to argue this at all. But if you don’t think there is a better profit margin for digital distribution then why do you think all of these companies are pushing so hard for a digital future? I don’t think it’s being conscious about the environment.
I wasn’t talking about the costs of distribution TO A DEVELOPER. I was referring to the costs posed to storefront.
But, now that you bring it up, indie devs typically avoid physical distribution because their games traditionally sell much less than high-profile releases, partly due to lack of advertising budgets, and partly due to their lesser prominence. (The management company likely advises them to avoid the potentially costlier route – and not costly because of immediate expenses, but because projections, based on established habits, reveal future hardships for those choosing that route, if not adequately prepared.) So, not only does the possibility of unmoved copies pose a threat to the indie’s survival as a company, but, also, managing contracts with multiple affiliates may also prove to be too daunting of a task for a small team to handle. When you’re starting out, you can’t go wild and toss money at every hand lobbying for a taste. Building a successful franchise takes much time, effort, and dedication to the immediate goals. Baby steps… the ultimate survival strategy…
Everything else is self-explanatory. If you look around, you’ll see it. You just don’t want to accept it for some reason.
What happened to the PSN? I remember back in the old days when PS+ was awesome.
Is PSN aware that The Evil Within (PS3) is $19.99 at best buy? How are they gonna charge $29.99 and call that a black friday flash sale? I just defended PSN for their December lineup after so many straight horrible months….. And then PSN hits us with this horrible black friday sale.
ElectricSlurpee on November 27th, 2014 at 5:39 pm said: “DIGITAL: – data gets uploaded to a server IT’S AS SIMPLE AS THAT!!”
It’s not as simple as that. Did you not read what I typed? It is costly, for various reasons.
@ Squiggle55
Heh… I don’t want to get too deep into why they’re pushing for it. Yes, it is partly for the environment, but it’s more for connectivity, monitoring, and the web of control… profit? Not so much. It’s pretty much a wash in that department, because there are multiple ways to generate revenue that don’t require a shift in media format. But, I won’t say anymore than that… The rest will be revealed in due time.
Not a terrible sale, although many people are disappointed. The thing that annoys me is that there is nothing mind blowing. There is no price for a game under $20, nothing that really stands out and makes me want to buy it.
Also, on The Amazing Spider-Man 2, you have the sale price as $9.99 and the original price as $7.99. You might want to change that
Exactly. Physical stores have to move their merchandise eventually and prices will be driven down by necessity. Digital full-priced “retail” games sit in cyberspace taking up zero space and they don’t care if they sell it or not. It’s like an experiment they did to see if people would actually buy it and every single sale is a plus for them. People say “hey why are those prices still so high” or “why aren’t those black friday sales as good as physical stores” and the answer is: Those digital full-priced games aren’t there for you! They are there for the millions of people without your critical thinking skills and your perception of value. I picture publishers sitting back laughing every time a sale goes through saying “I can’t believe they’re really doing it!”
You just keep making me rethink my Vita purchase there, Sony. Honestly, why even release a handheld you’re not going to support? You might as well have called it the Saturn.
@ Squiggle55
Sony is pushing digital distribution to avoid software piracy and used game sales. Why else would sony push digital distribution if it cost the same to distribute.
@ sony What are you thinking ? I dropped money on the vita and 35 games with a lot of psn downloads. I was thinking of getting the ps4 but now I’m thinking that my money will go to Microsoft. I’ve supported sony during the ps1, ps2, psp, ps3 and vita days.
only games i purchased from the vita “co-op” sale were soul sacrifice delta and rayman legends…but that’s it..it wouldn’t do any harm to you guys if you actually did a good vita sale, hey you guys would actually make money on the damn thing
SONY – It’s NOT too late to update this sale and make these games cheaper than your competitors and ADD some more to it for the Vita users and some CLASSICS.
I just want to say that this is a simply abysmal Black Friday sale really…Definitely expected a whole lot more…especially some vita games for sale! I mean Come on! I was expecting Destiny at like $10 or $15, some of the big games for like 75% off…some Vita JRPG’s and other games at like 50% to 80% off…completely disappointing.
Why selling to much tv video?
we buy playstation for playing game, not watching tv show, I already subcribe tv show only on tv
playstation only best for playing game. and It better to add each playstation criteria on every flash sale
I really disappointed vita don’t have ANYTHING to sell :(
@NDub317 Exactly! I also think there is a slightly higher profit margin for them in digital as well. But getting rid of used game sales and piracy is definitely part of it. In other words, it’s all about money. They are a business after all. If you ever find yourself asking “why does (fill in a business) do ___________?” The answer is always money.
Worst flash sale ever since the first one, I think you shouldn’t have done one of those $1 sales on the past and release it now, that would have made us happy.
The Evil Within PS3 at $30? But Retail stores are selling it at $20 PHYSICAL and NEW… And the same can be said for pretty much anything else.
No Vita games neither, people who supported that system against all odds don’t get rewarded, we get the worst of the worst.
Then Sony wonder why vita is selling so poorly when nothing good comes from Sony themselves.
Is there going to be any sales on PS4 this holiday season? In Canada XboxOne is $100 cheaper than PS4. They have better bundles too. I was planning on giving myself a happy Christmas with a new PS4……. But it’s not looking good. $450 with two last gen games and PS4 games at $70….. I only get one console per generation, and im really hoping it will be Sony, but you seem determined to push me away. I’m waiting, but I don’t know how long I can hold out.
Just logged back in real quick to remind you guys that you’re also forgetting that Sony offers TWO downloaded copies of anything you buy through the digital storefront. This turns out to be highly valuable if you have more than one console and/or play multi-player games against others in your house. 2 games for the price of 1. One of the main benefits of digital through Sony. Among numerous other benefits to digital, which I’ve posted before, but don’t feel like doing again right now, except, the best of which is unlimited availability. Never walking away disappointed because you arrived late and were faced with a “SOLD OUT” sign in your frowning face.
Ultimately, it just comes down to options. For some folks, digital is really the best route for them. For others, physical is better. Sony (currently) offers both to cater to a bigger pool of potential customers (until everyone gets on board with the digital revolution). You pick the one that works best for you and leave the other route for those who prefer it. Like Coke vs. Pepsi. Why attack the one you don’t utilize? It’s pointless. To create all these conspiracy theories without knowing what’s really going on behind the scenes just makes you look spiteful.
This is pretty disappointing. I was really hoping for a PS+ membership discount, but it looks like that’s not happening. The games are still overpriced compared to every day prices and sales on many of these titles. The Black Friday sales of most retailers puts this to incredible shame.
I’ve been amped up for this sale for weeks and had my psn wallet filled and waiting…and it’s the biggest letdown of the year.
Just to follow up, I currently don’t have a PS3 or a PS4, so yeah, how can I complain about those sales? I’ll happily buy most of those, if I have the system to play them on. VITA OWNERS REJOICE!! Oh…wait…
These flash sales used to be great. What happened?
On a different note… Guys, stop replying to trolls. They talk nonsense on purpose. All they want to do is cause a response. Don’t feed them.
Paid 24.99 for Shadows of Mordor at Wal-Mart, Got Destiny for 35.00. Both on ps4
Meh. Where’s the deals?
pls include last of us remastered in the 12 deals of christmas,if there is going to be one
I was hoping for Grand Theft Auto 5 for PS4. Oh well.

I really disappointed vita don’t have ANYTHING to sell :(
Thank You
@NDub317 Exactly!
When will you be adding more Classics to the store such as Croc, Croc 2 and Dark Cloud? Especially Crash Bash!
Damn Was hoping for Destiny regular edition for 30 dollars so I could stop using the disc.
I came back to see if they had a revised v2 of this sale, but I’m guessing they’re not gonna change.
I was for sure Sony would have had an awesome sale, considering how unbeatable their last sales have been.
No vita?!?!?!? Ok ive had enough im selling it tomorrow
Sony your flash sale is so bad your getting thumbs down on slickdeals website.
