The Top 25 PS4 Games According to IGN

Greetings, PlayStation.Blog! My name is Colin Moriarty. I’m IGN‘s Senior Editor, the man who leads the charge on all of our PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation Vita coverage on the site, and co-host of our popular PlayStation-centric podcast, Podcast Beyond.

Now, you may ask why I’m here, writing words within these hallowed digital halls. The reason is quite simple, my friends. Each year on IGN, we update our Top 25 lists for all current platforms. These lists are designed to help hardware veterans and newcomers alike parse through the best-of-the-best to figure out which 25 games rise above the rest on their platform(s) of choice.

You may have seen our Top 25 Vita Games list in the past, as well as our Top 25 PS3 Games list. Both of those have been updated this year, and better yet, they’re quite different than previous iterations. That’s because our selection committees have been shaken-up and otherwise widened. I think you’ll like what you find.

We’re also introducing our Top 25 PS4 Games list for the very first time, the perfect source to take a glance at whether you already own the console or are planning on buying one in the future.

Of course, reading is so 20th century, so we didn’t only unleash written lists; we also did full video lists for you to watch. All three of them are embedded throughout this blog post, should you choose to watch them.

But riddle me this: what are your favorite games on these three platforms? You can tell me in the comments below.

Until we meet again, a healthy and hearty BEYOND to you.

  • @bnightstar I sincerely hope that was sarcasm.

    Destiny – $500 million dollar budget…

-Limited mics- can’t even hear your own team in the “competitive” mode..so much for teamwork. Same goes for the “social” area in the tower… not very social when there are limited mics.
-TERRIBLE story for a game that wants to be “AAA”.
    -TOO repetitive.

The coop is fun and the art design is gorgeous, ..but that is just not enough to carry a game that WANTS to be great. Not to mention one that cost $500 million. It’s mind-boggling how they could spend that much on this franchise and drop the ball so badly in some very basic / important areas. Oh well, they made their $$$ back since they spent so much on advertising… :/ I think it is more important gamers look out for a quality game though over a quality advertising campaign.

  • Demon’s Souls is a much better game than Dark Souls. Its difficult is highly appreciated by hardcore gamers.

  • On PS4, I personally like some different games than were on the list, but I won’t say the list is wrong, as it is just an opinion.

Wolfenstein: The New Order, Need for Speed: Rivals, Stick it to the Man, and Octodad, were more enjoyable than some of the other games on this list.

  • Haha this is funny it had to be IGN…..25 games on the list and 8 aren’t even PS4 games. Its how they say…you can’t spell ignorant without IGN.

  • BTW I saw the PS3 and Vita list as well…Vita has the better list….there are only good games there….PS3 list is a joke…full of overrated and even crap games that are praised by media…..God of War 3,MGS4 and LBP aren’t on the list….how do you people at IGN expect PS gamers to consider that thing a “list of top PS3 games” without those games in it?

  • My PS4 top 10 (Which I am sure will differ from most)

    1. Last of Us Remastered
    2. Wolfenstien (Did not like the story line until I played it. Fell in love with the game and only 100% completion game I have)
    3. Destiny (It is way over hyped but has a good solid foundation. The storyline sucked and the missions sucked. Co-op is a blast though with great potential for future content and making the game interesting instead of a lvl 20+ grind)
    4. Diablo 3: UEE (Too many hackers on PS4 to make online fun)
    5. PVZ: Garden Warfare
    6. Assassins Creed: Black Flag
    7. Metro Redux
    8. Child of Light
    9. Battlefield 4
    10. COD: Ghosts

  • you all got mean so Colin went away :(

  • Demon’s Souls was great too!

  • I’m not normally one to complain, and you have a right to your opinion(s), but no Wolfenstein? I’m shocked. It has to be better than COD: Ghosts, if nothing else

  • Love these lists, they’re really useful for finding something really good I may have missed; I try not to get to worried about the order/what didn’t make it etc. It’s basically just “here’s 25 great games” tough to argue with anything in that context. That said have to list my 5 favorites :)

    PS3:
    1. Beyond Two Souls
    2. XCom Enemy Unknown
    3. Journey
    4. Heavy Rain
    5. Dragon Age Origins

    PS4:
    1. Transistor
    2. Assassin’s Creed
    3. The Last Of Us
    4. Diablo III
    5. Child Of Light

  • Dude, I agree totally on the list. Especially that The Last of Us is the #1 for PS4 and PS3. Playstation rules!
