Greetings, PlayStation fans! My name is Aaron Hearn, and I’m the Lead Programmer at CyberStep, Inc., a game developer and publisher based in Tokyo, Japan. We’re the ones that brought you the amazing online games GetAmped2 and CosmicBreak, games that feature outer-space tournaments and robot combat. But now, instead of epic sci-fi adventures, we’d like to welcome you to a completely different world, an alternate universe of mythological Japan filled with demon Youkai and humans coexisting with the blessings of the ancient gods. Then there’s you, a descendant of the long-isolated mythological tribe.Together with eight ally NPCs, each with their own personalities and unique abilities, you venture forth to restore peace to the troubled landscape, imperiled by the deadly miasma and the ancient evil, the resurrected Kamikui! Please welcome Onigiri to PlayStation 4!
Onigiri is an exciting and action-packed MMORPG where you can wield the weapon of your choice, free from the restrictions of player classes in order to slay demonic Youkai however you please. Use your unique skills and a wide variety of weapons, switching easily between them all as needed to face the monsters before you. Our love for live steel and non-ballistic weapons shows with our non-targeting combat system and fast-paced battles. Want to create that mob train and strike all of them at once? Be our guest! Only you have the strength and capability to change destiny and save the world from its grim fate.
Best of all, Onigiri is free-to-play, so there’s no need to worry about subscription fees as you carve your way through the Youkai of ancient Japan. From cute little Darumas that pack a nasty bite to crazy six-armed swordsmen –along with all of the other surprises this magical, mythical Japan has in store– there’s plenty of fulfilling combat for you to engage in as you travel alone, or with a party of brave friends to meet the challenges of fate head on!
Since Onigiri’s Japanese launch early January, we’ve already had 500,000+ players join the adventure. We can’t wait for you to start the journey as well, so we’ll keep you posted on the launch date that’s scheduled for some time this summer. For now, check out the trailer and our official anime on our main site to get a taste of Onigiri’s unique spin on fantastic Japan!
