The Last of Us Remastered Coming July 29th to PS4

The press conference at E3 2014 was a big one for us. We revealed not one but two trailers for PS4 projects we’re currently developing. There was a very important announcement for The Last of Us Remastered:

The Last of Us Remastered Coming July 29th to PS4

You can find The Last of Us Remastered available in stores and digitally on July 29, 2014. If you pre-order now, you’ll get some great additional content.

The trailer is full 1080p and rendered in 60fps, which is what we’re targeting for the game. We’re working on various improvements such as higher resolution character models, improved lighting and shadows, upgraded textures, functionality unique to the PS4 controller and more. You’ll get the complete The Last of Us experience as the PS4 version includes the highest rated DLC exclusive to PlayStation, Left Behind, all difficulty modes (including Grounded Mode the newest, hardest difficulty level) for single player and both our multiplayer map packs, Abandoned Territories and Reclaimed Territories.

We recently announced that it’ll be a level playing field in Factions mode as player progress from The Last of Us PS3 multiplayer will not carry over to the PS4 version. However PS3 players will be getting a supply bonus to give their progression a boost. We can now also say that all current DLC content – head items, weapons, and survival skills – that you have purchased for PS3 will be available for you in the PS4 version. So check out the latest DLC if you haven’t yet.

Pre-Order The Last of Us Remastered today. We’ll have more details on the game over the next two months as July 29th approaches.

  • Dang! Well I guess I will sell my PS3 version since the MP stats don’t transfer over. :(

  • is there any validity to the rumors that this may come out at $39.99?

  • So by reading the blog post it looks like the DLC weapons and cosmetic stuff will be free for people who bought them on the ps3 version but not everyone else. That’s fine about the cosmetic stuff but having only certain people running around with better weapons when others don’t have them is not a good idea at all. I would like clarification before I cancel my preorder. And no I’m not joking. I bought the game on ps3. I loved it but the dlc choices are some of the worst I’ve seen in a while. Guns and abilities need to be available to all if you want people to enjoy playing it.

  • Just another cash grab I see. The fact that there’s no upgrade path for those who bought the game is a slap in the face, and extremely short sighted from a business point of view. New sales of the remastered version won’t come close to sales of the original game, and since there’s no affordable upgrade fee, most of us will bypass the PS4 version. I mean, would you rather get millions of gamers to double dip at $10 a pop, or not get any of that money at all? Talk about a bonehead decision. Whoever thought this was a good idea from a financial standpoint should be fired.

  • I am confused about the latest update on ‘the last of us’. What does it mean when they said that the pre-orders were available befor May 20th, and that the pre-orders wont support pre-loading. What does this mean? It has me confused.

  • skipping this unless they give a price break for ps3 TLOU + Season pass owners.

  • Well the remastered TLOU sounds like a GOTY edition to me. contains all the DLCs plus upgraded visuals in full HD 60fps And all this for 50$. I have a copy of the PS3 version without any extra content so for me it’s a no brainer. I wanted to buy Left Behind anyway, which costs 15$ right? so I get the whole game for 35$, and the DLC for 15$, all with next gen visuals. That sounds like an acceptable deal to me, even if I have the original. I am willing to pay this extra amount of money for one of the best games of the last era, for the best dev team ever. You are paying more for ****** music, ****** movies, ****** games every day, so what is the big deal? I’m getting sick of people trying to get a 20-30$ discount because they bought the ps3 version. If you have problems with getting last year’s best game with all the DLCs and improved visuals for 50 bucks than don’t buy it. You have the ps3 version, you have the season pass, enjoy that, and watch youtube gameplay of the remastered version when it comes out and shut up. Wait a year, and then get the remastered for 20-30$ used. Simple.

  • And for everyone else who don’t have a season pass, or the DLCs, OR THE GAME ITSELF, that’s a pretty good deal. You’re not gonna be Sony’s best friend just because you bought one of their games, gotta accept it, not cry like babies. Btw nobody had problems with the Tomb Raider ps4 version which to this day costs 60$. Thats just ridiculous. And that game is not even close to the level of TLOU. So think before complaining please. This game worth every penny and when I finally get to play the remastered version, I’m pretty sure I will drop my jaw. I’m out.
