Champions! Our latest 1.09 update is available now, including the much anticipated new 1v1 mode – Bout of Honor! You can view the full change list at the official site.
Since the dawn of our multiplayer, warriors have cried out to the Gods asking for @SonySantaMonica to create a mode where Champions can pit their skills against each other without distraction. I am here to tell you, combatants, the time has finally come!
In Bout of Honor, two warriors will put their lives and reputations on the line to win the best of seven rounds in this strictly 1v1 mode. Bout of Honor is a true contest of skill with no chests, fountains, or world weapons to aid you. This mode also disables relics and allows for a Champion’s magic to regenerate over time. Beware, my brothers in arms, magic generates slowly over time so use it sparingly. If you are careless you may end up like the Prophet Castor, with your head underneath another warrior’s boot.
Along with this brand new mode come four new maps specifically crafted for Bout of Honor:
- Canyons of Kirra
- Chamber of the Flame
- Landing at Delos
- Streets of Sparta
The developers at Sony Santa Monica have been painstakingly crafting a mode for both fans of fighting games and the legions of Champions playing Ascension’s multiplayer to enjoy. The team has made some balancing tweaks especially for Bout of Honor to ensure matches are fought in a fair and honorable fashion. Infinites have been removed, overpowered weapons tweaked, and damage from 100% combos adjusted.
Lastly, warriors who are not quite ready to rely solely on the strength of their blade but still wish to acquire the Favor of the Gods will enjoy a brand new 4-player map – The Whirlpool of Alecto. A nod to one of the greatest moments in God of War: Ascension’s single player campaign, The Whirlpool of Alecto features a giant leviathan whose sole purpose is to unleash Alecto’s fury in the form of physical pain onto any unsuspecting warrior careless enough to venture into its domain. The level also features elevated terrain sections for knocking over, slamming, and stunning your opponents.
The best part is that these features are all free, right now! Praise be to the Gods for hearing our cries! The team at Sony Santa Monica would like to give a special thanks to the thousands of Champions worldwide supporting the team by playing God of War: Ascension multiplayer.

The MP in Ascension is outstanding. I have been addicted to the MP ever since launch. I haven’t even completed the SP campaign because every time I get to the title screen I am compelled to choose the MP mode.
Thanks for such an amazing game and the continued support. I hope this MP mode lives on in the future with a sequel or stand alone MP game because I have been having crazy fun with this one!

@50 i totally agree..its very unprofessional and unloyal to the fans to keeps us in the dark when we support and appreciate all the work you put into PSALLSTARS..I enjoy both games but im alittle more dissapointed in PS ALLSTARS with thier wierd roster releases like ZUES and FAT PRINCESS and NO NATHAN HALE or GABE LOGAN ..SMH i wont even get started with CRASH and SPYRO..-__-
Look, I’d like to see Playstation All Stars succeed as most of you do, but we need to be honest here… Among other things, comments such as #58 are the reasons why you guys aren’t going to get more support for the game. Take a look at the Call of Duty series for example. There may be a million people complaining about the games, the DLC, and the like, but at the end of the day, sales will be multiple times more than the complaints. People buy CoD, even if it’s garbage.
You all wanted content. You were getting it, but you refused to buy it (especially Isaac and Zeus). If you “fans” aren’t going to sell this game to your friends and aren’t going to buy ALL DLC, then you don’t deserve to get what you want. And now you expect to get what you want by putting All Stars against God of War? Good luck!

It was real funny I bet when Sony Santa Monica left Starhawk in the cold, not even releasing the last update Light Box Interactive produced before being canned by Sony.
You PSAS fans got a good laugh, and look at you now. Sony Santa Monica has now decided that PSAS is as it shall be to eternia.
Now it is the GoW fans who will laugh at you and think they will never suffer the same fate, but we know better.
To all GoW fans, enjoy this update like it was your last, it very well could be despite any promises that have or will be made.
Just look at your brethren in gaming arms to see your future, how long til you join our ranks?
The largest insult is these devices we desire are factual, they exist, and they will likely never be made available. (For this reason I do not buy Sony Santa Monica games any longer, it hurts too much when they lie)

Oh man Spyro for PSASBR would be sooo cool, I mean i like Legends of Drangoon as much as the next guy, but Spyro would be so unique for this game.
Lets compare move sets, what would Dart have? Magics and huge dragons and stuff?
Spyro would have fire breathe/balls, ice breathe/balls, perhaps the female dragon from the ps3 title joins him for a super or something?
Also anyone else think it weird we have so few fighting game characters?
Lastly i love Heavenly Sword with the deepest of passions, lets get a new game on the go where Kratos and Nariko meet and after several lengthy, brutal and extremely bloody battles fall in love and have God of the Heavens Warrior children, spawning and whole new genre/ series of games for this and next gen.
Imagine their children kinda like the 4 horsemen, but much cooler, I made a thread about this on playstation forums and me wanty.

I understand your reasoning. There are certainly people who refuse to support causes and they likewise do not deserve special treatment.
However, the main thing is that most of us have indeed purchased the DLC– at least, out of those who have commented on this post. Zeus and Isaac weren’t exactly the most sought-after characters, but we did buy them in the hope of supporting the game. Many have even purchased the extra costumes, minions, and stages. On top of that, there are even LoD fans waiting in the wings who have yet to even buy this game, but would do so solely based on Dart’s inclusion. Sure, you could say we’re not the most entitled bunch, but I think it would be safe to say that the fans who care about PSASBR have done their part. We still have no concrete proof that poor sales of Zeus and Isaac were the exact reason for the game’s abandonment anyway.
Lastly, we’re putting PSASBR against God of War because it is currently one of the only Sony Santa Monica franchises that continues to receive attention. Sony’s decision to place PSASBR in SSM’s hands was out of our control, so, as fans of the game, we would at least expect that they would treat the game with the same care and polish that the previous developer (SuperBot) had. However, given their track record with games like Starhawk and Twisted Metal, we kind of half-expected this treatment. Even so, we are still justifiably upset that God of War would continue to take priority over a game touted as celebrating “PlayStation’s past, present, and future.” The discovery of Dart’s cancellation had only added fuel to that fire, seeing that he hails from a cult PlayStation classic and would have fit perfectly into the game.

exactly i don’t think this can be overstated psas faced hardly any support from most of these guys prior to its launch, when it could really have used some kind of positive fan push
and now lo and behold now that the game is basically dead they start rushing out of the woodwork spamming articles for other games demanding support
its a trade off… had the game had your support prior to its launch it may have done better and the devs would probably be far more committed to it… you neglected to do so now its basically failed and the devs have turned away from it
you have to some extent yourselves to blame for it in my opinion i should know i followed the game closely from the time it was announced to launch and beyond
Now THIS is how you support your multiplayer component of a game. I wish that All-Stars had the kind of attention and long-term support that GoW: Ascension has.
Oh well, Maybe All-Stars 2 on PS4 will get the support and love that it deserves.
all fine and dandy but when are they gonna fix the single player?? the glitches are killing the game
New DLC is out and developers really did listen to the GOW fan base. The bout of honor mode is reminiscent of street fighter. The camera gets really close and detail is key to your combos. I got to say it gets personal. The new 2 V 2 map, whirlpool of alecto is pretty amazing. The is one of the crazyiest stages i have ever played on. Street fighter, Mortal Kombat, Tekken, Marvel vs. Capcom are all some of the best fighting games but Whirlpool of alecto really tops any stage. Multi-player makes this the best GOW
Folks this is not enough! We need to keep speaking up about Dart being released for All Stars on EVERY single news that is posted on the blog by Sony Playstation.
So hey Sony, how about that Dart?

Please Santa Monica, RELEASE DART! All-Stars is the reason why I bought my Vita! It is my all time favorite game. I platinumed the Vita version and have almost platinumed the PS3 version. Please keep supporting this game. There are many fans like me who love this game. I have Issac, Zeus, Emmett, Kat, Fearless, Graveyard, a few skins, and a few minions. I did play GOW 3 and I was a fan but I’m a bigger fan of PSASBR. Please listen to me Santa Monica and to all of the other fans. Trust me Santa Monica, me and many others will buy Dart and Abe. Thank you Santa Monica.
