Wow, so many whiners in here.
I’m still busy with Sleeping Dogs and Saints Row 3, really fun games. But my time has been absolutely devoured by Virtue’s Last Reward. I feel bad now that I didn’t buy it new. Already put almost 20 hours into it since we got it free last week. So good.
And I’m decently happy with this month’s update. Like most of the other people here, I really, really do not care for shooters. That being said, I’ll be grabbing BF3 to at least play through the campaign. Free trophies are free trophies. Couldn’t care less about the MP. And Dokuro is a really unique game. And it IS NOT an indie title as several other commenters stated. It was a retail published title in Japan that got a DD-only release in the US. That doesn’t make it indie. It’s definitely worth checking out.
And then we’ve got JSR for PS3. Still haven’t even booted up the Vita version yet, but I’ll go ahead and grab it. I played Munch’s Oddysee back on the original Xbox, so it’ll be nice to revisit that on my PS3. And a Metal Slug game on my Vita? Yes please.
Overall, very nice update. Would have preferred something other than another FPS be the headlining title for the month, but still good regardless.
Downloading BF3 right now as a Trail. Just a tip if you download a the trail of the game and when the PS Store updates you don’t have to download the game again. The Yellow bar next to the game will disappear.
On a side not I wish we were getting something else besides BF3 because EU has it. But It’s a good Birthday gift for me tomorrow. Now how about 50 bucks so I can get on those discount for my 27th birthday which is tomorrow eh Sony?
People need to stop complaining. The Instant Game Collection is meant to appease various fans from different genres. Just because you do not like what is available does not mean that nobody else does. The Playstation community is a diverse one and everybody should be represented regardless of how large or small in number. And do not act like you’re getting ripped off either, for $50 a year you are getting more than twenty times that in free games and discounts. Maybe there will be something for you next month. Of course no matter what someone will always complain.

Gotta admit, I was very disappointed by the Summer Sale’s focus on disc-based PS3 downloads. I hope that you guys focus on putting more great digital-only games on sale such as Limbo, Okami HD, Castle Crashers, and Braid to name a few.

Looks like a great month. Looking forward to Metal Slug, Munch’s Odysee and Dokuro. I own Jet Set for the Vita. I wanted to love this game, but it was way too difficult for my tastes.
All the people complaining that you are getting Jet Set Radio again, really need to learn how to read. Oh wait, military FPS gamer dudebros and reading don’t mix.
If you guys did know how to read you would know this is the PS3 version and not the Vita version.
Anyway, I am not a mindless brain-dead gamer, so I know that Battlefield 3 is a huge pile of suck. FPS genre needs to die off.
Wow. The Instant Game Collection just keeps getting better and better. My PS3 and PS Vita never run out of new games to play, between the IGC and the spectacular sales that have been offered. My poor 500 GB drive has been full for a long time, and I’ve actually had to prune out games I no longer play.
I’ve been a subscriber since PS+ debuted, and I have been STUNNED at the quality of the service. The early days were primarily indie PSN games, PSX games, Minis and the occasional retail title. There was one month when a bunch of games got dumped on us, but most weren’t of a particularly high quality. It was easy to wonder then if PS+ was going to be more than a way to push the less desirable games.
But since last summer, the service has really kicked into overdrive, and I think it’s one of the most compelling arguments for being plugged into the PS3 and Vita ecosystem. Folks really need to stop griping about what the EU users get; the US gets a lot of great titles as well, and a top-tier game like Battlefield 3 continues to make it worthwhile.
Now, if we could just find a way to get a PS+ discount on memory cards for the Vita… :-)

Lame! BF3 would have been great had you given it to us a million years ago when it was originally released. EU gets a vita retail in Unit 13 and we get Dokuro, even lamer! Step your game up PS+. Greatness awaits alright, primarily for Augusts updates.

Rather than getting the high rated games that most probably everybody already had, I like it more it they were to give us the hidden gems.

Well, you dared us to say we won’t be picking up at least one game on this list so I’ll tell you I won’t be picking up any game on this list. I’ve played through the BF3 and now just can’t wait for 4 and the discounts are on games I’ve played or don’t care for. Hoping for better discounts next week. That said, it’s still a good week for a lot of plus members just not for me.

Morgan, you are so money and you don’t even know it. We had to get BF3 and thank goodness we did I was getting a lil scared. Oddworld! Too bad it isn’t Strangers Wrath for Vita – I could easily see us getting that but anything Oddworld I will take. Dokuro is a very nice addition for us Vita owners I have only heard good things about it. If somehow you have not played Arkham Asylum yet you need to pick it up seeing as how the ps3 version is by far the best and for 5 bucks you should have bought it yesterday. I will certainly be picking up Mortal Kombat for Vita (only 5$ ) not to mention it was very highly rated in the pantheon of Vita games. On a different note you guys must purchase Escape Plan it is only 3.75 when last week it was 15$. I think the deal ends tomorrow so hurry and grab it the game really utilizes the Vita’s multifaceted functionality (as in the six axis/gyroscope, front and back touch screens ect.) plus it was made by the creative geniuses who gave us Fat Princess (which is also on sale for 3.75 I might add) so that tells you alot. Plus Lil and Laarg are just so lovable they should really have their own show/series.

Happy to see BF3, Dokuro and Metal Slug! Looking forward to all those three and hopefully I’ll be pleasantly surprised with the rest of the games for Plus. Surprised that Velocity Ultra wasn’t in the cards for PS Plus and I am a bit disappointed that Jet Set Radio is back, but I know not everyone has a PS Vita.
While I love to see a summer sale, it is a little weak considering the heavy focus on movie games which tend to be low quality. However, there are some great discounts here and there… but the selection is just not that great overall.
Every-time I tell myself I’m not renewing my subscription they pull something like this.
I ain’t even mad that Dokuro is free after I bought it. It was worth every penny.
I’m happy that more people get to play Dokuro. It’s a little jewel that I never get tired of. I own the retail Asian card and I bought it again via download when it was released in the US.

I’m always so impressed by the games on offer! I’ve been wanting an excuse to go back and play the Oddworld games! And I’m not big on military shooters, but free is free is free, so I’m looking forward to BF3! :D
The other thing is that PS+ literally pays for itself, and I’m so glad I jumped on it as soon as I could! $94 free this month, over $200 free last month! Can’t wait to see what comes out between now and the PS4’s launch AND BEYOND!
So basicly if you own BF3 forget you is what they are saying. Also I am not a betting man but if I was I would bet to play online you have to get the Online Pass.
@329 Kchow23 You say movie games are typically of a very low quality which is generally true but Batman Arkham Asylum is easily the best movie game of all time (barely edging out the recent Thor game, Terminator Salvation, and of course the vaunted NES E.T. game which totally OUTDID the lame movie that nobody saw) So do yourself a favor and throw down a five spot so Rocksteady can show you what’s what. oh and grab E.T. on NES the graphics and voice acting are breathtaking ; ) btw E.T. is an FPS with action rpg elements in it.

Two things that I would love to see more of are discounts on DLC for games in IGC or for recent games in general would be great. And lastly, the ability to upgrade a sub account to a master account (I really hope that this is possible on PS4 at least).

recycled sales that the term I was looking for repeatedly putting the same games on sale every few months or putting said game on sale then making it free months later or vice verse. and doesn’t the horrible weekly deal section just urk your nerves so many crappy games (Amy and others) listed as weekly deals for months on end now week aftere week after week just call it a price change and remove it from the section, but then if they did that we’d see how few games are actually a true weekly deal each and every week.
@335 Batman Arkham Asylum is not a movie game… it is based on the comic otherwise the cast from the Nolan movies would be doing the voices :)

I did say that there are some great sales, but the vast majority of the titles for the summer sale are games based on movies which aren’t very good. I can see why since it is summer blockbuster season, but still I would rather have a better line up instead.
I’m far more excited about the summer sale this time around. The only title I’d download is dokuro, but I already got it :p
I know this will likely get overlooked but since you are running BF3 on Plus, you should really consider discounting the season pass to around 20 or less. You have to think of it as easy money for EA/Sony as many people who had no interest will give BF3 a try and want more of the awesome maps. I already own BF3 Premium on PC and would almost surely double dip on a season pass if it was around 15. You have to understand the perspective I’m coming from but at the same time, even I would consider buying the very same game or DLC again for the right price.
Think about it for future promos as well.
It’s already a good thing that devs agree to have their games as part of plus. It gives the audience the opportunity to try out a game and in some cases, people will buy DLC for a game you provide free on Plus but in the end it’s a victory because someone might end up enjoying BF3 and then want more and get the season pass if it’s enticing enough. I hope this isn’t too long a rant.

the one thing i wanted to point out was that the sales are very devoid of indie games… there should be some in there…. nothing really interests me in that sale.. Mortal Kombat would be great at that price, but i just dont get much into fighter games.. at least last month’s free games and Last of Us will carry me for awhile…
