Soul Sacrifice: Demo Out Today, Saves Transfer to Full Game

Soul Sacrifice on PS Vita

I hope you’re ready for Soul Sacrifice — the demo will be available this afternoon on PSN!

Your first reaction to the demo might be, “Holy moly, this is a LOT of demo!” …And you’d be right! The entire first chapter of the full game is included, all of which is playable with up to three other friends via online or ad-hoc multiplayer. Inafune-san made it a special point for the demo to be quite substantial, as you can read in his comments below:

“The number one reason for the Soul Sacrifice demo to have a lot of content was to show the users the full attraction of Soul Sacrifice. We knew that cutting out a small section of the game and saying, ‘Isn’t this part fun?’ would not show the users the full potential of the game. We figured that it wouldn’t make sense if the users could not have the ‘I want to play more’ feeling.

“So, we decided we want to provide, ‘at the very least,’ this amount of the game for the users. That is why, if you compare it to a standard demo, this became such a substantial piece. But we are confident that this will not become something negative where the users will feel like, ‘We played enough.’ After we released the demo version in Japan we received many voices, saying ‘[I] want to play more’ and ‘I want to get more hooked on this game.’ That is why we believe making this demo with this amount of volume and detail was a success.”

Soul Sacrifice is a long adventure, with dozens of hours of gameplay. The demo is not only a great way to sample the full experience, but also to let you get a head start on that adventure before the game releases. To that end — this part is important, pay attention! — the save data will carry over to the full game! Not only that, if you do carry over demo save data to the full game, you will receive an exclusive bonus item: “Spirits’ Heart”! It summons a powerful stone golem that will fight for you!

Trying the demo and carrying over your save data is the ONLY way to get “Spirits’ Heart,” so why not give it a shot if you’re already interested in the game?

The Soul Sacrifice demo offers a single player mode AND a multi-player mode. Multi-player can be played via both ad-hoc and online, but please be aware that multi-player and all online features for the demo will be terminated and will no longer be available on April 30th, 2013. After this date, you will still be able to play the demo offline and ad-hoc. Of course, that’s not a problem, since you’ll all be picking up the full game when it launches on April 30th, right? *wink*

Don’t forget to pre-order! Not only do you get three exclusive Magic Offerings and two exclusive costumes, but you’ll also get the Japanese voice-over audio pack for free!

  • No soul sacrifice .. Just soul caliber which sucks now

  • I’m not worried about this demo at all. My Tuesdays rely on US PSN update, and my Wednesdays rely on Europe PSN updates (since I have both for double the benefit). Oh yeah, since Europe’s getting Hitman and Catherine free, you guys might want to look into the PSN Plus over there. Even Sonic Heroes on their PSN store lol. The PS2 classics we get are bleh.

  • 12pm Pacific. That means 3pm Eastern. So gotta check in a few. Let’s go!

  • ( don’t leave me hanging bro!!! gold trophy)

SWEET!!!!!! just earned a trophy just for waiting on a demo from yesterday

  • I (a gamer) would like to know what’s the problem. This new Store is terrible, it has never worked properly. C’mon Sony, some information would be really appreciated.

  • If they just said hey fookers it’ll be out tomorrow at 9 I wouldn’t be so antsy .. But this any given moment crap.. Is totally bogus!!

  • Why did I not know about Phantasy Star Online 2?!!? Got a date?

  • We (the gamers), have been F by SONY one too many time. If after 12:00 this afternoon if the Playstation Store is not updated and you do not give us answers, all the players will log off PSN, perminently.
    These are our demands…
Free PS4 for every gamer in NA (that’s right, F EU and JP).
inFAMOUS: Second Son free for plus members.
Doritos and Mountain Dew for all.
and release The Last Guardian on the PS4 and PS3 (Team Ico you had enough time to finish it).

  • There is no date for PSO2 yet, sadly

  • The maintenance is over. The other region stores are working fine and were updated many hours ago.

    What is the problem?
Why don’t you even post a message update other than the last one from 12 hours ago?

  • Everybody here, someone looking to the PSN? maybe it’s up! no no no no.

  • You do realize PSO2 may have network problems in the US as well… (lost hope).

  • *lacking not packing support lol

  • @LilPoison05 Still, i’m looking forward to it, i’m a big fan of JRPGs PSO still remains one of my favorites.

  • the maintenace is prolonged so much :((

  • i want the demo and some crispy bacon…NOW!

  • What does it have network problems back east?

Also just saw only PC version is coming this year not PS vita announced yet.

  • I was really cheering for Sony this time, with the Vita… It has averything to bust the competition, as far as hardware goes. I’m not exactly proud of also owning a 3DS. The whole idea of buying one is kinda’a stupid, since the Vita is far superior when comparing without external influences. But there you have it. The 3DS is by far more appealing to consumers, due to simple fact that it has more games. Even their minigames are cooler than whatever the PSN has to offer. And then, with that one game that would make most of us finally have a reason to pick it up from the shelf, dust it off and actually enjoy everything it has to offer, they manage to screw it up. It’s amazing to see how incapable a multibillion dollar company is to actually apply the simple solutions to their problems, such solutions that are pretty clear to EVERYONE.

  • I still say I don’t want free games for this. I want change. The company needs a new CEO or something.

I really just want a new custom avatar, relating to this crazy post count.

  • i heard po2 was no for the vita but for another device? i hope im wrong though. i would love that game. i played the japanese demo and was amazed but i didn understand what was going on lol

  • It’s like they’re not even trying. I’d actually be a little less frustrated if they stated that “we’ve stopped betting on the vita a long time ago, the little we’ve done for it, was just so as not to displease our customers”. I’m not saying that Nintendo’s job is better, there was the whole incident with the Monster Hunter save transfer app, which was a big middle finger to everyone’ face, but the 3DS is not sinking like the Vita. Sony should at least be doing, what little they do, right. Thank you for the appreciation Sony, I had no idea such was the treatment I was getting when I spent almost 400 bucks on my Vita. Now I’ll just go play my 3DS…

  • Add my azz.. I’m peed off now

  • wow sony really left us on the black hole. not even saying it has been delayed until when and apologies for their stupid mess up.

  • wtf can anyone find this game on the store

  • (( just blogging around Bronze trophy ))

AWESOME!!! just got another trophy for just plain blogging lol

  • It’s 12:25pm EST & there’s still no update?
    Really Sony!? Really? Really?

  • add me for ss play
    listening 3oh3

  • Give us resident evil 5 .. And naruto shipped den games damn you sony

  • I’ve always liked the idea of mutiny. The thought that “the people” could actually unite to overthrow the majority who rule. But let’s face it, most people lack the motivation and self-control to achieve such things. This “We the gamers…” message is but a trite threat. Even the creator of the message will log-on as soon as the store has been updated, regardless as to whether it updates at noon or later. This is what is inherently wrong with our country in general. We’ve all become complete soapbox toting pushovers. Something upsets us, we hop online, complain, make threats, set ultimatums, yet we never act on our claims. All talk, no show.

Claiming that you will sell your devices, refuse to log-in, never buy or download another piece of software, just makes you look like an idiot. Point me in the direction of the person who actually gave up gaming because something like this. Remember the massive PSN hack that leaked a large number of user’s personal information? Yeah, I was one of those people. Yet here I am, still playing, still buying, still just a complete tool.

  • hey spam that fail of a demand post again that’s full of spelling and grammar errors. that’ll push sony to take you people seriously for sure >_>

  • I wonder if they actually decide to add PSN ID changes, JP Has it. My current PSN ID is killing me.

  • you can have a JP version of pso2 if you ever played pso before you can get by the jap dialog that game is some fun time

  • I play online all the time and rent/buy a lot of different games. Send me an add for more multiplayer action!

But, if you’re posting the “We (the gamers), want the PlayStation Store…” post then feel free to not to send a friend request. Individuals with less anger will be friend-ed. (This is not an underhanded slight at the commentors, just a personal preference for online team player personalities.)

Fort the time being, I hope everyone eats some bacon, eggs and toast for breakfast or a chicken Caesar wrap and fresh fruit for lunch and can come back to a more pleasant PSN shortly.

PS. Dear Sony, please remember recurring communication (even if vague) is greatly appreciated from when their was the network attack. On a different topic, thank you for what you do right; when it works, the PlayStation family is outstanding!

  • lol i changed it to english

  • If you really want to send a message, act on your claims. Simply posting idle threats will get “We the gamers…” nowhere. If you’re actually serious about a possible boycott, you’ll need to organize. I’d start by rounding up the user’s who share the same vision as you. User’s who are truly willing to set aside their controllers for the greater good. If there was ever a perfect time to initiate such a movement, it’s now. With the impending next generation launching by year’s end, a sudden drop in user activities and sales would ultimately impact the financial standing of the PlayStation brand. Sony is placing all their eggs in one basket with the PS4, but if the egg basket market goes under, so will the shop.

I would love to see the videogame industry tank. But you need more than yourself and six of your virtual friends to even begin to make a dent.

  • Marino was here

  • I’ll have the 6000th cm ^^
