See you in the comments! (oh, and no there are not any April Fool’s jokes in this post; I tried!)
Ever since Daishi Odishima took over, the entire Soul series has been in shambles. Everything from the art direction to the gameplay to the character designs have being going downhill drastically. The last good Soul series game IMO was Soul Calibur III, which thankfully I still play on my PS2 Slim.:(
Thank you very much for this update. Malicious, Labyrinth Legends, and Zombie Tycoon 2 are good, but there are two things you should take note of, please.
1) Demon’s Souls? Seriously? You would offer a very hard game that only hardcore gamers would play? Most people who would find this game hard would not enjoy it even a little bit, as well. Also, it’s a pretty old game and it has sold over half a million copies. So, the people who are interested on it have already bought it.
Please don’t get me wrong. Demon’s Souls is awesome, but you can’t offer a very hard game on a service that different kinds of people subscribe to it like PlayStation Plus.
If you wanted to offer a JRPG game, there are a lot of better games to offer on PlayStation Plus than Demon’s Souls such as:
– Valkyria Chronicles (IF it has trophy support. If it does not, then don’t bother with it.) + (Most people consider it the best JRPG game on PlayStation 3 and on this generation)
– Resonance of Fate
– Tales of Vesperia
– Tales of Graces f
– Tales of Xillia
– Atelier Rorona: The Alchemist of Arland
– Atelier Totori: The Adventurer of Arland
– Atelier Meruru: The Apprentice of Arland
– Atelier Ayesha: The Alchemist of Dusk
– Hyperdimension Neptunia
– Hyperdimension Neptunia Mk2
– Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory
– Star Ocean: The Last Hope International
– Final Fantasy XIII
– Final Fantasy XIII-2
These games are way easier and much more enjoyable and colorful than Demon’s Souls. These games are perfect to offer on PlayStation Plus.
So, it would be great if you can offer those games on PlayStation Plus.
Because no one would buy or bought a PlayStation Vita to play PSP games. In addition to the sad fact that they don’t support trophies.
Anyone who wants to play PSP games can easily buy or keep his/her PSP, instead of buying an awesome and powerful device like PlayStation Vita to play the old device’s games.
Moreover, there are a lot of fighting games on PlayStation Vita that you can offer, instead of offering some fighting games for PSP.
In conclusion, please please please don’t offer very hard games like Demon’s Souls and PSP games on PlayStation Plus, because they are not perfect for a service like PlayStation Plus.
This isn’t a April Fool’s joke is it?…just kidding I’m not that excited with Demon’s Souls since RPG is the only genre that I dont like….anyway I’m kinda happy because a friend brought DS here in my house one day and I played and it looked cool I do had fun with it…I was even planning to buy so this come in handy.Thank you guys and keep it up with the PSN titles thats what we need and I dont have any of those you’re giving for FREE this month….LOVELY UPDATE.
holy snikes!!! the land of boletaria! what brave adventurers will venture into the deep dark colorless fog in search of demons souls…and who if any shall prevail.
i am so excited for this. i had just started playing demons souls again the other day, found 2 people online and thought i was excited then! now the online play may have a bit of new life put into it.
everyone. try demons souls. it is a online dungeon crawler that will test your skill and mostly your patience. (its not hard, just unforgiving of fault). demons souls is online co-op/pvp at its finest. if anyone wants help just ask, but please try the game.
but the entire month looks good. i’d considered malicious to, now i dont have to. awesome!
and to all those who still complain that they are not getting enough quailty free stuff. just shove off idiots. its freaking free stuff. games you otherwise would not have, period. be greatfull.
thanks sony. (side note, i do hope the store updates before 7pm today, but oh well.)
i’ve also pretty much given up reading other comments, the community here has become very biased and there is so much negetivity and so many people just complain and tell others/sony what they are doing wrong. and post a list of games they think should be free.
i’d hate to be in sonys shoes, they are GIVING Free stuff away, constantly. And its still never enough for some people. This world we live in is so, depressingly pathetic and lacking values. Gimme ggimme.
to the people saying, oh just subscribe to EU PS+ and stop complaining.
There’s more to it to that, people are paying for the same subscription, they’re shouldn’t be this much difference in what you get every month. somebody on the EU blog commented saying, I hope we can get disgea 3 like the US did, their community manager guy responded with, we’re aware that its on other regions and are working on getting here too. why doesn’t morgan ever say anything like that?
also it’s against the terms and conditions to even have an EU account unless you live there, they don’t always do anything about it. But one of my out of region accounts got banned because they could tell that I’m from the US. so subscribe to ps+ with the chance of the account just being banned? sounds like a great idea.
don’t get me wrong, this update was pretty good. I was hoping for demon’s souls.
Morgan, these monthly updates are doing pretty good, just please stop with PSP games, people might as well just keep their psp and not upgrade to a vita with all these old psp games…
I probably shouldn’t be complaining seeing as how half of my subscription was given to me for free, but I would’ve bought it if it weren’t. I’m just saying, psp games don’t make a lot of sense at all. if you’re looking for fighters EU gave away MK9 for the vita, maybe do that or Street Figther x Tekken, or MvC3, or DoA5.
If we have a free for members game installed (I.E. Spec Ops), is it still playable after it’s removal? Or do already installed or downloaded copies get disabled?
When’s the US store getting a discount for PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale (PS3)? I can see that the European store got a massive discount and the game now goes for £15.99 ($24).
wow demon souls i wish this game was not part of ps plus the game is too good for plus it deserves a purchase, never played it but i have been playing Dark Souls since it came out, the best game ever made theres no debate i think i will purchase demon souls since i want to collect the best game series ever made (havent played demon souls yet but i will since i love dark souls)
The great thing about this update is that you didn’t copy any of the games that have been offered in EU PlayStation Plus. This is a big improvement. So, congratulations. <3
Keep going like this, please.
Offer good games that are different from what has been offered on EU PlayStation Plus.
I have a question, please.
Have you decided on the PlayStation Plus content that Sony is going to announce at E3? or you are still planning it? Are there any hints you can give us, please? Please announce 2 different lists for EU and US PlayStation Plus, or are they going to be the same? Please make them different.
great update dude! really looking forward to demon souls and soul caliber and malicious! though i hoped u would give us a ps vita game… but still great update… keep it up!
This month’s Plus update should’ve come with a box of tissues and some No More Tears baby shampoo. What a bunch of complainers we have here! It’s really pathetic. Who cares if Europe gets better releases here and there? They usually get games later AND have to pay more for them anyway. Get a grip.
Love PS plus all the discounts and free games. Demon Soul totally amazing game and can’t wait for Zombie Tycoon for my vita, rainbow moon discount great also can’t wait for it to come to vita later this year.
zombie tycoon… i dunno if this will be good but its a new game so… thanks I guess.
I’m happy it’s not Zero Escape for this month cause I’ve platz it in only 4 days of playing (greaaatt experience of gaming anyway), so I won’t play again even if it’s offered.
and for PSP, I’m happy that we got a great title of PSP, the only downside is it’s technically 2 fighting game in a row and it’s not even my cup of tea… if just you give great title of PSP that’s not fighting I guess is better.
Now, I’m one of those who ask for PSP addition in replace for simple Vita game in the past (1 crossbuy like Foosball and 1 big game), but PLZZ don’t give us simple game for Vita too, it’s just… not fair for us Vita only users.
Don’t get me wrong, I like Soul Calibur, Maveric Hunter X, Tekken 6 (only about 5 minutes until delete it, feels so wrong after play Street Fighter x Tekken in term of graphics) more than Foosball, BUT please don’t give Foosball-value as the Vita game instead…
Well, I thank you for Ninja Gaiden Sigma and Disgaea3, hope to see titles as big as this again in next month
I’m a little sad since I just bought Rainbow Moon and Labyrinth Legends a little bit ago, but happy that they’re getting some more love. =) I already own Demon Souls, but I’ve been looking forward to Malicious for awhile. I might pick up Soldner-X since it’s so cheap. Great update!
Can we expect a pure white / pure dark world tendency as a welcome party for Demon’s Souls players, both old and newcomers? It’s been a while since I last played it so I don’t even know if the servers are still online.
And thank you for Malicious, I’ve been waiting to play this game.
Great update, can’t wait to check the upcoming sales!
The one thing that really urks my nerves is that Dark Souls is the next full game right?… Well, that’s also like the 4th or 5th one that is dark theme based. So much for variety. I don’t look to give any of this a try. If I had the juice I’d pick up the walking dead. My pockets for gaming is empty for a little while though. Anyone that has fun with these, Congrats. Nothing for me this month.
While this looks like a great monthly update, it sucks for me. I owned, and promptly got rid of, Demon’s Souls, and I own all the other PS3 games on offer. Another fighting game doesn’t interest me in the least, so the only thing to look forward to is ZT2. I’ll definitely grab that and give it a chance. Like someone else said, Malicious is a rather mediocre game. The controls are horrible and all in all, it was $10 for a rather hollow boss rush mode. I felt like a fool after I bought it at launch. At least no PS+ members will be wasting money on it during its time in the IGC. Labyrinth Legends is insanely fun and was totally worth the $10, so that is a great addition to PS+. It just sucks that I have to wait until the end of the month for the one game I’m interested in.
At least Guacamelee! comes out next week. That’s going to be awesome!
Of course this is all opinion but Zen pretty much echoed my initial thoughts. I find myself month after month wishing we had the European update. This is the first month that I’ve seriously considered whether I want to continue with Playsation Plus. I might have to take a break until we start seeing content like Mass Effect 3, Okami etc….
what a AWFULL MONTH!! espially for us ps vita owners..and what happened to P4G last month you guys announced early in the month it would be in the vita lineup..also was wondering if you think kingdome hearts birth by sleep( or any kindom hearts for that matter) will ever be available for vita?
I like media (games are one) that delivers emotions to audiences, and DemSouls did that for me on different levels.
At first glance, the intro and the whole sequence seemed generic.. or even outdated. (disappointment)
As soon as I first set foot in Boletaria, the whole environment looked easy enough, but then… (shock)
Within the first hour of playing, you realize that this game is not for the faintest of the heart. And somehow believe you can outsmart this silly little game… Boy were you wrong!!
*It’s late at night, and I donno what I’m saying, but seriously, PLAY this DAMN GAME!
*PS. Demon’s Souls and Dark Souls, imo are totally separate experiences so the argument of which one to play first is irrelevant. Just enjoy!
Here’s something I bet most people don’t think about when discussing which games they want added to US PS+ or when getting upset at the EU PS+ offerings.
Not only do games need approval in order to be offered free, but I’m sure that there is a department committed to market research. They know which games are currently selling well (meaning prob won’t see a freebie spot on PS+), which games have stopped selling (meaning they are prob a great candidate for PS+), and which games/genres they want their online community engaging in, so they will be pushing that agenda in the lineup. Then of course there’s the community requested titles (which usually are brand new games that would never be considered for a freebie spot for at least 4-6 more months)
Consider some of those details……Sony offers what they can, when they can, based off what their research tells them they can or should. Overall, it works….and works well. Just look at the value/growth of PS+ in such a short time. Just food for thought when wishing for specific games, or complaining about EU. EU is a different region, with different games being more or less profitable (and in turn more or less marketable on PS+ for free)
Is there any way you can put the size of the Vita games in the post? I’ve already had to buy two more memory cards because of the awesome content. I just need to know if I should buy more ;)
I don’t normally complain about PS+ offerings, but I’ll say this: Two consecutive months with Namco PSP fighters should have started a few alarms over at PSN HQ.
Exciting month. Keep up the great work, guys!
I don’t have any of these games.. and I’m going to enjoy at least 3 of them for sure!.
Been loving playing Tekken 6 with my buddy(who only has a PSP) and Soul Cal will be the same.
Zombie Tycoon 2 free on release day… nice.. I’d rather have that than Thomas Was Alone. :)
and I’ve been itching to play Demon’s Souls since it became available on PSN…
^_^ I’ll be glad to check out that hack and slash game, too. Didn’t I hear something about that game being released on the Vita at some point?
Pretty disappointed with this update, to be honest. Demon’s Souls is not the type of RPG I enjoy, as I don’t particularly relish the rage-inducing constant deaths and ridiculously steep learning curve. I’ve played it, and while I can see its merits and why some enjoy it, I’d much rather play something more story-driven, like Kingdoms of Amalur or Folklore — heck, even any Dragon Age title. Also, like others have noted, another bargain-bin game of the month.
The PSN titles look decidedly lackluster and generic this month, and I doubt I’ll bother with them. This month gets a 2 out of 5.
I logged in so I could post here for the first time.
I’m pretty let down with PS+ here in the US. The UK has had the Royal treatment. (No pun intended.) Where’s OUR free Mass Effect 3 and DOA5??? I got a year membership in anticipation for this, but instead, …..we get Joe Danger the movie 2??? WTF. And now we get Demon’s Souls??? A 5 year old game??? Come on Sony. Where’s the US love?
Thank you for Vanquish, but we needs some global equality here.
Ever since Daishi Odishima took over, the entire Soul series has been in shambles. Everything from the art direction to the gameplay to the character designs have being going downhill drastically. The last good Soul series game IMO was Soul Calibur III, which thankfully I still play on my PS2 Slim.:(
good amazing, thx
i luv ya <3
