Aliens: Colonial Marines is a First-Person Shooter set in the Alien movie franchise universe in which the player takes on the role of a member of a squad of colonial marines sent to the planet LV-426. The game is designed as a true sequel to the 1986 movie, Aliens, done in video game format, and features iconic locations, weapons and alien varieties from Aliens and other movies in the series. Additional features include: four-player co-op functionality, a new alien type, and customizable weapons.

Created by Gearbox Software, the critically acclaimed and fan-favorite developers of Borderlands and Brothers In Arms, this first-person shooter is steeped in the eerie, claustrophobic and terrifying atmosphere that made the Aliens films successful worldwide. You and your friends will become the most badass military outfit in the galaxy – the US Colonial Marines. It’s down to you to not just survive, but wipe out the Xeno infestation.

Enjoy this week’ The Drop.

Aliens: Colonial Marines

In Aliens: Colonial Marines, players are part of a United States Colonial Marine squad and must prepare to face an Aliens assault more intense and horrific than ever before. Players must destroy the enemy with classic Aliens weaponry ranging from pulse rifles to flamethrowers as well as brand-new equipment.

Aliens: Colonial Marines features a story driven single-player mode and a four player co-op mode allowing players to share the chilling experience with three friends. In co-op mode, each player assumes the persona of a United States Colonial Marine and have a distinct role to play in the completion of every mission.

Ecolibrium (PS Vita Exclusive) — Ecolibrium is part of the PlayStation Vita “Discovery Apps” initiative, bringing PlayStation gamers unique interactive experiences that mix gameplay with life experiences such as social networking, geo-roaming and other digitally-aided experiences made possible with PlayStation Vita.

Bring harmony to a virtual ecosystem in the PS Vita gaming app Ecolibrium. Create a balanced ecosystem by choosing different combinations of species, plants and artefacts. Acquire, collect and trade new plants and animals with other PS Vita owners. Collect new creatures using the GPS feature of the PS Vita 3G model and show them off to your friends on Facebook. Release unwanted creatures into the wild for other players to pick up using “near”. Unlock new content by completing challenges.

Persona 4 Arena — Developed in partnership with genre master Arc System Works, Persona 4 Arena uses hand-drawn, high definition 2D anime-style fighters and colorful, over-the-top special effects to bring to life characters from the acclaimed, highly popular Persona 3 and Persona 4. Backed up by an original, hardcore fighting engine from one of the most respected 2D fighting game developers in the industry, Persona 4 Arena represents the biggest, most noteworthy expansion of the esteemed series to date.

Alien Breed (PS Vita Cross Buy) — Alien Breed is fondly remembered by its fans, especially in the UK where the Special Edition stayed in the “All Formats” charts for over a year. We were really proud of the 2009 version of the game, but a remake of the original game turned out to be a much better fit for the platforms it was appearing on. The first new feature is the most obvious: the game has had a full HD graphical overhaul, with the original graphics being an optional toggle. Two things that made a direct remake a frustrating experience were that the player could find themselves getting lost easily and could also run out of ammunition and door keys. To remedy this we added a toggle-able map screen and a persistent shop, to allow player to replenish supplies whenever necessary.

Everybody Dance — Using the PlayStation Move motion controller and PlayStation Eye camera to track and score moves, players can test their dancing skills with three difficulty levels, each featuring unique routines for every track produced by world-renowned choreographers. Everybody Dance allows players to hit the floor solo style, team up with a second player for a cooperative Partner Routine, challenge a friend to a competitive Dance Battle, or use the Party Play mode where up to 20 players can go head-to-head for the ultimate dance-off. Players can also use Everybody Dance’s Dance Class feature to improve their skills through detailed routine breakdowns and then take their game to the next level by developing original choreography using the Dance Creator feature.

Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken (PS Vita) — Step into the clawed feet of badass rebel Hardboiled Chicken, the original Coq of War who sets out on a mission to assassinate the totalitarian penguin leader and take down the evil regime that has taken over Albatropolis. Destroy enemies with a slew of weapons and bear the yolk of Hardboiled’s past as his missions unlock the secrets to his mysterious past and illuminate the truth behind the penguin government. Master fowl play in the co-op campaign as a pair of Budgie commandos on a mission to save the general’s daughter. Many lives will be destroyed, countless penguins will die!

YU-GI-OH! 5D’s Decade Duels Plus — Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s Decade Duels Plus is based on the popular Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s animated TV series. Decade Duels Plus includes the latest cards from the official Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s Trading Card Game. Complete against the most popular Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s characters during the finals Battle through Single player or compete in 4 player tag duels.

  • Yu-Gi-Oh! is the best TCG and I don’t give a good god damn who says otherwise. Totally picking that up to build decks.

Twisted Metal: Black and the original Twisted Metal? In there, too.

    Not to mention PSABR dlc…..

Sony, /this/ is how you do an update. So much to pick, and enough time to think before payday.

  • Finally Ecolibrium… ¬¬

  • Is Colonial Marines coming for PSN?

  • The Plus stuff of the week will come later right?

  • I never post on these things, but today, I would like to thank Sony. For finally getting Ecolibrium released over here. I’ve been anxiously awaiting this app.

  • I know that I will be giving Ecolibrium a try because it is different and seems interesting. I will also be looking into the Aliens: Colonial Marines. Sure is is made by Gearbox who did Borderlands but they also did the new Duke Nukem. I am concerned about no reviews yet. Also, the Yu Gi Oh game needs to be on the Vita. If it is, it is an instant buy for me. I also hope that UTF is on sale this week like the PS Store claimed…

  • umm…excuse me but where is the skyrim dlc? i’m done with this its coming it’s not coming game….

  • a yu-gi-oh game!?! about ******* time sony!! now i can exoida some’s ***!!

  • Hmm, I thought Skyrim dlc was supposed to hit this week. Or was that UK only?

  • Dear Sony:

Please release more games digitally! I wanted to go all-digital months ago, but you guys release stuff at a slow trickle! Gran Turismo isn’t even up for sale.

Please release more PS1 and PS2 games, too.

    – Matt

  • Finally, a new Yu-Gi-Oh! game to play, I’ll be buying it on Tuesday.

  • I’ve noticed that every week someone asks about Kingdom Hearts and seems disappointed that PSN hasn’t put it on the store. The reason why they haven’t is because Square Enix is in the process of making Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix, a HD collection of KH Final Mix, Chain of Memories, and 358/Days for PS3 After that they will make a second collection.

If you want to see trailers and find out more information on the game go to khinsider.com

  • if gearbox did aliens then why cant they complete brothers in arms

  • Good Vita week for me. Buying Alien Breed as well as Rocketbirds. Although i’m pretty interested in what Ecolibrium is all about.

  • and then again the Vita doesnt get no love…

  • Sweet Madness twisted metal 1 hope the third and fourth be there soon can’t wait. hope there’ll be final fantasy 12 too.

  • Another bad week, there’s 3 in a row for me (and most of my friends).
But compared to Xbox these are like golden weeks lol.

PS. Please get the PS+ up-to-par with PS+ EU or i’m going to cancel after this year, terrible start of a year!

  • Is no place safe from that freemium? I can get more then my fill of freemium on my smartphone. I didn’t buy an expensive handheld state of the art kick-ass piece of hardware that is the Vita to partake in the questionable joy of being tricked into paying many times over what a game is worth through micro-transactions.

  • It seems like everyone likes digital releases. Personally having a hard copy of the disc with the case and everything is so much better. Plus if you ever wanted to sell it, you could. I’m hoping because thq went down, games like saints row three and darksiders two will be free.

  • Sooooo does this mean ALIENS will be DAY1 Digital???????

  • maybe i didnt see it in the slopply done list but…….SKYRIM DRAGONBORN DLC!!!!.. supposed to be out tom….and half price..next week heartfire and week after dawngaurd….seems like these are worth mentioning,or did they get cancled last minute…..it wont end well if they did…mainly for bethesda

  • Big Sky Infinity is horrible. Bought it on Vita on sale and can’t even get past the tutorial because the controls dont respond. Wish there was a demo before it was put on sale :(

  • Alienbreed!!!!! Awesome!
I will check alien colonial marine,TM black and Ecolibrium

    Great update!

  • Dear Sony,

You really have let me down. You make yourself out to be a transparent company that listens to it’s customers yet you take are concerns, opinions, and questions and slap them right back in our face. ANY THING FOR A DOLLAR RIGHT!!!! You told us when the vita was still unnamed we could expect to play PSONE games on it. You told us after it was sadly released without the ability that it was coming shortly. For some reason I thought you learned from Apple who when they make a mistake they eventually own up to it and fix it in a timely manner not two freaking years. Same for Microsoft and android. My psp gets more play time than the vita these days. I mean is it really so hard to bring two of the most iconic games that started your empire back in the ps one days, CRASH BANDICOOT, and SPYRO THE DRAGON to the PS VITA!!!! I mean really its bad enough it takes a life time to release a new game for the vita by you guys but a game that worked on my original PSP from day ONE is RIDICULOUS!!!! The VITA is the most powerful handheld ever assembled yet it trails the gameboy, psp, and even NEO GEO, in adoption rate, and support.

  • Persona 4 Arena :P

  • I’m downloading the 1.8 update for Skyrim. Does anyone know what TIME the Dragonborn add-on will be available for download? Or has it been postponed since it’s not mentioned in this article?

  • WHERE IS SKYRIM DLC LIARS

  • i am exstremly happy with this weeks drop the ps plus not so much but this makes up for it , and to all the people who are hating the wait for it deal … i understand how you feel i have been waitiing for a yugioh game on ps3 since its release. yes some might get stuff faster.. but atleast we usualy don’t have all the bugs and problems they do when they get it .. be calm and the stuff you want will get here as soon as they can get it for us.

  • I’m surprised that they didn’t say anything about skyrim dragonborn.

  • It would be nice for people to get a time for the store update…Many people have been waiting for Skyrim DLC patiently and a response to questions would better than nothing.

  • Agreed, I got the 1.8 update, but Dragonborn is nowhere to be seen on the store. I had the same problem with the last dlc for wwe 13, how about a timeframe playstation, we’ve waited long enough for these dlcs!

  • @131

whenever the ps store updates lol, but yes it would be nice to know when SONY actually updates the ps store.

  • I spoke with a Konami rep about Yu Gi Oh coming to the Vita and all that they can tell me is that information is coming soon. I am hopeful for a real Vita Yu Gi. Hopefully this will lead to other companies seeing how this can be done and we get an MTG game on the Vita!! I know that I seem ultra-supportive of the platform and I am, possibly moreso than Sony themselves. I have bought three of them. One for me, one for my son and another for a friend of mine.

  • I haven’t played a Yu-Gi-Oh! game in forever and it’s great to hear that this is being released. You cannot go wrong with the price either. Now if we can get the Dragon Ball Z imports in the PS Classics that would make my day!

  • There’s an article up about Dragonborn, now just get it on the store!

  • While I am very pleased to see a PS1 Classic, I am still disappointed there aren’t more.
I can think of plenty of games off the top of my head that could see a release on the Playstation Store.
I know there is copyright issues to consider and such. I just hope more PS1 games start getting released.
I’m still waiting for Medievil 2 among many others, including a few Japanese ones.
Although I am glad you guys are pumping out more apps for Vita, both social and gaming ones.

  • what happened to Skyrim’s DLC? i thought i was supposed to be out on the 5th along with pc!

  • Ecolibrium! *—-*
Thank you, guys! I want this so badly! Finally! Thanks again!

  • I don’t share the same love for PSOne Classics. I mean, once Chrono Cross started working and I beat it another full three times, nothing else mattered to me. Parasite Eve and Grandia were things to get around to someday, but I was a lot more interested in the so-far very satisfying IGL. Ninja Gaiden was a great addition this month, as was everything else we had an excuse to sell, and stuff like Ecolibrium looks really interesting. I dig original stuff like that.

On the other hand, all these crap puzzlers need to stop. They’re shovelware, no question. I get that there needs to be a number of games up there and puzzlers with strange art styles are the easiest, but let’s see more cool stuff like Tokyo Jungle. The Remote Play idea was neat in theory, but it really doesn’t work at all, and it’s unplayable. Synchronize the PSN and Vita libraries a bit more and people will have large Vita libraries in no time, whether they own one or not.

  • For the love of all things holy, will you PLEASE add a “Sort by Game” option to this horrendous store so I don’t have to scroll through 65 “Everybody Dance” songs to find something I’m looking for?

  • it would be great see “Simpsons Hit & Run” in PS2 Classics session.

  • I know this isn’t the place, but I figure MAYBE one of the PR people here have the ears of some of the developers… There are SOOOOOOOOO many PSN games that would be SOOOOOOOOOOO easy to port over to Vita… ANY chance we’ll ever see: Scary Girl, SkullGirls, X-Men:Arcade, TMNT Reshelled, Castle Crashers, MK Collection, Street Fighter HD, etc.

Don’t get me wrong, boring crap like Minis have their time and place, but it’d be nice to see some REAL games on the Vita, rather than just overpriced iPhone crap…
